This groundbreaking new book is a complete introduction to Go and is designed for newcomers to the game as well as all those who have already discovered its many delights.
Four or five years ago I tried to get into Go. It didn't stick, but I still have the books I bought. I'm giving it another try, and now I remember why it didn't stick - not that it's bad, but that it's possibly the most difficult endeavor I've tried my hand at as an adult.
Go is MADDENINGLY difficult. I've been reading articles and this book and doing problems and other beginners in small games continue to routinely wipe the floor with me.
But I keep trying, because if you're going to play a game why not play the best? Why not play one that has proven its endurance? Why not play one not beholden to corporate control and the distraction of the new?
This was a good re-read now that I might be playing again. If you want to learn to play this game, this is a good starting point and if it's not for you there are many other books out there. Give this a read!
