Self-Management of Long-Term Health Conditions: A Handbook for People with Chronic Disease is filled with hundreds of proven tips, helpful suggestions, and concrete strategies to deal with chronic illness, to manage emotions, and to live a productive life. Here you'll find suggestions for setting goals, making decisions and finding resources and support. It offers sound information about exercise, healthy eating, intimacy and sex, and communication with friends, family, and caregivers. There is also information on managing medications and an important new chapter on making treatment decisions. Originally based on a 5-year study conducted at Stanford University and modified in 2007 for the U.K., this work has grown to include the feedback of medical professionals and people with chronic conditions all over the world. Self-management of Chronic Disease has helped thousands of people with chronic illness fulfill their greatest possible physical potential and to once again derive pleasure from life. Its simple goal is to help anyone with a chronic illness to live a productive, healthy life.

I didn't read the entirety of this book, but mainly issues that relate to me. It's an extensive and rich source of information relating to many health conditions and related issues. It covers a vast range of aspects that helps enable people with health issues to make their own choices.

Very easy to read and understand and set out very clearly.

This will be a reference book that I will keep and return to when needed.

Extremely informative! 5*

An absolutely phenominal aggregation of very useful and medically proven advice on how to deal with long-term health conditions.

I personally have two long-term health conditions, severe mental-health related, and cancer, and this book is absolutely recommended by me to anyone who suffers from long-term health conditions.

The advice in it is sound, and I wish I had properly read it and digested it years ago, instead of having to go the long route of reading a bunch of other sources and finding out myself through trial and error.

This should be given free under the NHS to any intelligent person who has a long-term health condition.
