Not quite as good as the first one (though perhaps due to lower meme potential), but certainly a compelling narrative and an interesting set of translations. Still a course worth reading, for all you obnoxious so-and-sos like myself who decided to learn Latin.

I have worked through CLC book 1, Suburani book 1, De Romanis book 1 (mostly) and most of Latin to GCSE 1/2 as well as Latin made simple.

This has been the most uninteresting and arduous of any resource I have come across yet.

The stories are either mundane beyond comprehension, or incredibly inappropriate, marginalising minorities and making light of slavery, domestic violence and other sinister themes not fit for the class room.

Book one had these moments, but upon reading this, it is abundantly clear how necessary De Romanis and Suburani with their fresh approaches were.

By the time I got around to buying book II of this course, the integrated edition was disappearing from bookshops, so this is my odd one out. I became used to the smaller format of the integrated editions and prefer them to this size. I have been learning Latin on and off for 15 yrs or so using these books and every time I return to the material, it becomes easier. I really love all these books and what they have given me.

“CLC Book 2 Students Book 4th Edition” really is an epic for the ages. While “CLC Book 2 Students Book 4th Edition” is a tougher read than the previous entry in the series, it also aims for higher emotional stakes and climaxes which make it a far more rewarding journey.

The story didn’t quite have the pathos of the first book, but this is also the first time a textbook has made me yell out loud with joy at a plot twist.

It's so cool to go on a learning journey with this book. The focused look into Alexandria was really appreciated.

Its taken me a year to work my way through this, but I have finally made it. This is a great way to learn Latin. The stories which are presented are interesting and introduce characters which you do come to care about. I cannot wait to start on book 3!

Not a lot of new grammatical information here. Could perhaps add a little more meat to the fine stories.
