In this original story that tackles a common toddler issue, the bestselling character finds out that “no!” isn’t always the best answer.Does Jim Panzee want to go for a walk? No! How about having a playdate? No! Not even to eat a banana? No! Grumpy Monkey just wants to say "no." Sometimes it seems like the only word toddlers know is "no," and Jim is no exception.A simple text and humorous artwork offer parents the perfect funny book to help when their toddler says "no" to absolutely everything.
On certain days, this reads as my autobiography. Having said that, it's a super cute book introducing children to their feelings, and how to best express them.
I like this explanation and depiction of "no." "No" is a perfectly valid response that should be honored. This book shows the occasion in which Jim's feelings inside do not match what he projects outside. It's a good opportunity for kids to be introspective and check in with themselves about how they're really feeling...which the last page invites the reader to do.
Jim Panzee wakes up in his usual mood: GRUMPY, and nothing or no one can change his mood. After saying NO to everything offered or suggested, Jim discovers that NO isn't always the best solution or response.
In this story that toddlers (and parents) will relate to, Grumpy Monkey is having an especially grouchy day and yelling "No!" to everything he's offered, until the very end, when a mud bath puts him in a better mood.
It had me with the first line man. The name Jim Panzee made me laugh more than I care to admit. It was nice, simple and had an easy message. Highly recommend.
