This is a nice little guide to the Confessions. The author moves thematically through the Confessions, looking at some of the major themes. One should not expect to find answers to all your questions in this book, but, you will find the author pointing out helpful connections, that will enable the reader of the Confessions to get more out of their reading.
As it says on the back cover, the author looks at how Augustine approaches Language in the Confessions; how he deals with creation, the senses, and the sensible world; and the important question of the relation between memory, time, and the self. The reader will benefit from all of the discussions in this book. It is, of course, an introduction to these issues, and the author also provides comments at the end of every section about where the reader can go for more details on the specific subject covered in that section, as well as a good sized bibliography.
