My yearly devotion reads. My Gma got me my first one and i did not read it that year. After I did finally read i started collecting the other ones at thrift stores and read them. I love the variety of authors.
I kept this in my car for years to be able to do a quick devotional as I waited for something/someone. Great collection of quick inspirational stories and Bible verses.
***Devotions add rich, spiritual insights that increase faith, hope and trust in the Lord***
Guideposts annul "spirit-lifting devotional" Daily Guideposts 2015, released in October just in time for Christmas. Each of fifty authors, three from the Pacific Northwest, contributed seven days of one-page devotions each for the 365 day compilation. Erika Bentsen, Sprague River, OR, Rhoda Blecker, Bellingham WA and Brian Doyle, editor of "Portland" magazine, University of Portland in OR.
This year's theme: "Filled with Joy." "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." (Romans 15:13, ESV)
Personal story-format devotions include a short Scripture, a first-person account of how God worked through a personal situation and a brief personal prayer. For more in-depth study additional Scripture verses are found in the "Digging Deeper" segment that completes each devotion. Each month ends with space to note "Daily Joys" reflected on during the month.
This was my second Daily Guideposts yearly devotional. For me personally, (back in 2014) it was a good place to start getting into a daily devotional habit. The writings are short and concise. However I enjoyed 2014's better. And maybe that is because I've grown in my faith and knowledge. For me, I was looking for a little bit more learning instead of just a story that sometimes seemed pointless. Don't get me wrong - 90% of them were good - but some felt like a stretch to pull some sort of faith-related meaning out of it. But if you are looking for an easy daily devotional as a starting block, or if you already have that large knowledge base and would enjoy personal experiences (however random they may be)more, Daily Guideposts would be a good devotional to pick up.
I have read the Daily Guideposts over the years, but never cover to cover. Reading on my Kindle has made it even more enjoyable. At Christmas the writing throughout Advent written from different countries speaking of the different ways and customs was wonderful. Thank you Guidepost for the inspiration I. receive.
Daily Guideposts fills my days with joy, peace, gratitude and wisdom. My life is a work-in-progress. Daily Guideposts devotionals help me make progress.
First time I've tried this particular devotional. I really enjoyed it and it kept things interesting hearing from different authors daily versus just one..
