I took an online "Intro to Computers" class this semester as it was one of my required courses. It was offered on campus but I figured why not take an computer course, online, on a computer...
I was rather glad that I took this class online as the book was very self-explanatory and I was able to zip right on through the assignments and exams at my own pace, which was faster than the class schedule. I have two weeks of school left in this semester but I am done with this class.
I found the text easy to read and the instructions quite simple. Granted there was things in this that I already knew how to do and I grew bored with a few of the early assignments but I found some of the short-cut methods helpful.
I believe that someone that has very little knowledge of computer based programs would find this book easy to use, even with the overwhelming size of the book.

I've never had a computer class before, and I found some the of the stuff in this book to be too simplistic. I know they make a series of books that the Title is something "Computers for Dummies" or something. There are elements of this book that makes me think it should be called "Computers for We Todd Did". Still there were some chapters of the book that I really benefitted from the step by step instructions. I've never used Excel or PowerPoint before in my life until this class. The latter isn't going to help me much in life, but the former is really going to help since I'm almost through Culinary school and most Chefs and managers use Excel to keep track of inventory, food costs, etc. There may be certain chapters within that help others even if you have working knowledge of computers since not everyone uses every program out there.
