That is until Ted, the farrier, retires and she's forced to use a new blacksmith to shoe her horses.
Harry Milton isn't looking for love, either. He's just moved into the area having taken over Ted's farrier business, and he's more concerned with settling into a new job and a new community and worrying how his younger brother is coping without Harry to look after him. He's never had time for a relationship, and to be honest what woman would want to take on a man who had dedicated his life to raising his sibling after their parents died?
When Petra and Harry meet it is far from love at first Harry is convinced Petra doesn't like him and Petra is convinced he's fallen under the spell of the local man-eater (Petra's words, not Harry's). However, as they are brought together by the needs of the horses in their charge, Petra develops a grudging respect for Harry, and Harry decides that Petra isn't as grumpy as he originally thought.
Spring in Muddypuddle Lane sees the awakening of more than just the honey bees and new green shoots, as Petra and Harry begin to wonder if they can take a chance on each other. Will their dedication to all things equine be enough to bring them together, or will they have to "rein" in their attraction for each other and lock the stable door on love?

I received a complimentary copy of this book from AuthorsXP and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is a charming tale of Petra (who runs her uncle's stables) and Harry (the new farrier) to the area. Petra is a grouchy woman who prefers animals to humans. She is NOT too pleased to know that the current farrier, Ted, is retiring and Harry has come to take over. Harry is on this own now. After leaving university to take care of his younger brother, upon their parents death. His brother is now old enough to look after himself and Harry can start to live his own life.
These two have a few bumps in the road to their HEA. It was a joy to read.
This author is new to me and I truly enjoyed the story. This is a sweet, clean story with just some kissing.

Good solid read which I enjoyed. My favourite kind of characters; no nonsense, unpretentious, animal and nature lovers. I appreciated too that this was a wholesome read (kisses) that focused on the characters and the development of the H/h's relationship.

Spring at the Stables on Muddypuddle Lane
Etta Summers is really good at describing emotions and joy, confusion and despair. I think this is why the series of the novellas about the Stables and the people who live and work there so good to read. I certainly recommend this series.

Heartwarming
Lovely easy to read short story. Getting to know some of the characters in Muddypuddle Lane has you laughing out loud. Looking forward to reading the next installment

A quick romance
This was cute. It was short, so it didn't have a lot of depth to it, but it was still cute. I liked the characters and the setting.
