I'm not a fast reader. I never was and, after listen to this books, I guess I'll never will. No, the book is not that bad, but it just made me realize that I like my slow reading too much to just glide my eyes over the words and get trough them faster. The tips I found in this book are good, and I did read faster, but I didn't enjoy the reading that way. If you have some really boring book or paper you need to read and is taking too long, that can help you to get trough it. But if you like to read and love to enjoy your reading, this is not gonna make you happy. So, I'll just continue to read as I do now and be happy with it.
Double Your Reading Speed in Ten Minutes by Paul R Scheele is an interesting audiobook. It does work, but before you get excited, there are major draw backs. One key to increasing your speed is posture. Feet flat on the ground, sitting straight up with your shoulders back and your book at eye level. Uhm, who reads like that? I like to lay in bed or cuddle into my favourite arm chair. I can't imagine holding my book at eye level, unless I only planned to read a page at a time. Another key is to glide your eyes over the words and not absorb, understand, or envision the scene. That's ludicrous. Why read if you're not going to retain the information. And, I WANT to picture the scene to enjoy the book I'm reading. So, the book delivers what it offers but who would want what its offering? Not me.
