Everything You Need to Know about How to Use One of Today's Most Powerful Philosophies! "We go in search of that which we already possess, but are not using." So says Ernest Holmes, author of THE SCIENCE OF MIND and founder of the philosophy of Religious Science. God is not far away, but is within ourselves, other people, and everywhere present. Why then, do we fall prey to unwanted conditions - illness, financial lack, relationship difficulties, loneliness and problems of every kind? Written as a manual for the practical applications of the principles set forth in The Science of Mind , this book takes the original philosophy of "change your thinking, change your life," and explains a clear and definite scientific method of prayer that can help you overcome life's obstacles.
Ernest Shurtleff Holmes was an American New Thought writer, teacher, and leader. He was the founder of a Spiritual movement known as Religious Science, part of the greater New Thought movement, whose spiritual philosophy is known as "The Science of Mind." He was the author of The Science of Mind and numerous other metaphysical books, and the founder of Science of Mind magazine, in continuous publication since 1927. His books remain in print, and the principles he taught as "Science of Mind" have inspired and influenced many generations of metaphysical students and teachers. Holmes had previously studied another New Thought teaching, Divine Science, and was an ordained Divine Science Minister. His influence beyond New Thought can be seen in the self-help movement.
This slim paperback originally published in 1950 was apparently designed to clarify the Spiritual Mind Treatment for practitioners. Additional to the guidance designed to hone their skill, it offered insight into some rather interesting departures by this philosophy from the New Thought movement originating over a hundred years ago--e.g., "The subjective reactions of the individual are a result of personal experience, plus the collective experience, plus the impact of the universal Mind upon the consciousness of everything (p.80)."
It's a keeper on my shelf for the clearly defined tenets that are part of each Treatment Example; I am looking forward to reading Living the Science of Mind, also by Holmes.
"To learn how to thunk is to learn how to live." ~ Ernest Holmes. Makes perfect sense. If I want to live as best I can, I have to learn how to think. What we do comes from what we think.
Whatever the person think to, uses the principal the universal power-so a man need to link the power of the universe to what the man desire. The law of cause and effect plays into this freedom of divine mind- to produce harmony instead of discord as well as in return.
Still such a great book. Found it slightly harder this time to really connect with it but after the first couple chapters, I realized why this book is so awesome. The bits of information in it are priceless.
This book takes the original philosophy of "change your thoughts, change your life" the author Ernest Holmes is a truly evolved human being and was a powerful thought leader of his generation. The philosophy he teaches withstands the test of time.
