Behind the Camera #2

Becoming Bennet

Rate this book
I cannot stand Bennet Montgomery.
His rugged hotness knows no bounds and his unwavering cheery disposition is maddening. How can someone be that happy all the time? His smile infuriates me.
I need to keep my distance from this man and all his Midwest charm. I have my camboy career to focus on and I can't afford to get attached or bogged down with his nonsense.
But when Bennet receives devastating news about his mother, his grief consumes him.
I don't know what to make of this new sad side of Bennet. All I know is that his teary eyes infuriate me even more than his smile. I need to get his stupid smile back.
So that's how I wind up accompanying him home to his tiny town in rural Kansas.
And let me tell you, this California boy is not cut out for a land where fruit salad has marshmallows and where you're just as likely to be eaten by a feral cow as you are to be chased down by an angry rooster. *Shudder*
The worst part is, Bennet and I are forced to share one bed in a cramped trailer. And as I try my hardest to comfort this man who I can barely call a friend, I wonder if maybe that flutter in my chest isn't just heartburn. Maybe I can allow myself to get swept up in him...just for a bit.
That is, if a rogue tornado doesn't sweep me away first.

Becoming Bennet is a funny and sweet MM romance with forced proximity and only one bed.

"And with him, it's like the final piece of the puzzle has been put in place. I'm stronger with him, and I'm surer than I've ever been before that this is exactly where I'm supposed to be."

***ARC Review***

Becoming Bennet is the second book in Behind the Camera series. We first met Jasper and Bennet in Carter's book. Jasper was sassy and Bennet seemed to be intrigued by him in the first book. The authors hinted in Carter and Reed's book that something was going on between the pair. This is their book.

Unlike the first book, Jasper and Bennet's story is more on the lighthearted side. Jasper's snarky and sassy personality made this story also at times hilarious. It was never a dull moment with our boys. But there were also tender, intimate, and vulnerable moments.

The first impression I had of the pair was that they were obviously attracted to each other since they worked together once and had amazing chemistry on camera. However, for whatever reason it seemed they couldn't stand each other. In the beginning at least. All that changes once Bennet receives a life-changing phone call that requires him to fly back to Kansas.

To his surprise, Jasper is asked by Bennet to accompany him, and Jasper despite his reservations goes with Bennet. This trip changes everything for our boys.

Jasper and Bennet's story was sweet and lighthearted. The boys take you to Bennet's town and you will meet his family. It was quite funny seeing city boy Jasper adjusting to life in a small town. His thoughts about farm life were hilarious. It should be mentioned though, that Jasper will surprise you in this book. He is more than just a city boy and a sassy man. I enjoyed his character development and his caring nature when it came to Bennet.

My favorite aspect of this book though was Bennet and Jasper's moments together. Their hugs, conversations, and cuddles were everything.

While I loved the first book, this one was also enjoyable. I think Nicole and Cora had really fun writing Jasper and Bennet's story.

I can't wait to read Damon's story next😉

“This is no longer for the camera. It never was. It’s on and it’s filming, but this is all us. Oh fuck, this is just us.”

I was in dire need for a quick light-hearted read and Breaking Bennet was the perfect answer. I had such a fun and relaxing time reading this - especially when you're in the mood where you don't have to take something too seriously! Because, then you're in for a real treat! Jasper and Bennet are two very popular cam-boys who have only hooked up once for the cameras, - but they're both in mutual agreement - (even if they'll never say it aloud - because let's face it - they're both hopelessly hapless fools with emotionally stunted growth of maturity levels!) - that it was an unforgettable experience - one so hot and heavy that they both want to relive it - replay it all out in all of it's glory! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Jasper and Bennet were both such likable characters, with chemistry so wild, it was almost laughable at how much their silly pining could be so effortlessly cute and yet still be so sinfully desirable!!! 😏 Like, their chemistry was wild - the flirtatious teasing, the casual off-hand remarks, their sexy promos! It was like town mouse meets country mouse or country bumpkin from Kansas charms rich California city boy, but it's not at all one-sided! 🥰🥰 And I loved that despite their forced proximity of sharing a bed together and all, they tried so hard to keep everything professional and ignore their mutual attraction, which alas, was all in vain in the end!

“We should film another teaser when we get back.” I blurt that out and mostly don’t mean it, but my mind is in the gutter now. Bennet is just too damn hot. Must be this honey. I can already feel the effects setting in. Some kind of love potion. The bees of love.

No, not love. Lust. Just straight-up pheromones.”

Jasper's inner thoughts towards the idyllic country life were so hilarious if not ott at times, but still very cute! 😀 And as he worked in despair, learning about things in this rustic Kansas farm life he'd never even imagined doing. I also liked how he was just so considerate and caring and completely at ease with Bennet's sisters, trying his hardest to be as accommodating as possible.

The tension during the tornado scene was my absolute favorite - to see Jasper so vulnerable and fearful for Bennet's life - for Bennet to truly see how much Jasper cared for him - even off-camera. It was the tipping point of their relationship - one where they could no longer ignore their feelings and finally act upon it! They were both so hilariously horny for each other - all the time - I'm surprised they waited so long to do something about it! 😆😆

“Don’t overthink it. Just…thank you for being here and staying and feeding my family vegetables.”

My eyes sting, and I blink them quickly. Oh fuck, if I keep at it, I’m gonna start to full-on sob. And I haven’t cried in forever.

“Stop being so sappy. We’re…friends.”

(Fucking friends. The best kind. If I think it’s more I might have a full-on emotional breakdown.)

Bennet eyes me and nods. “That what we are?”

Overall, it was really just a very sweet but hawt story of two cam boys who were ridiculously attracted to each other, but were too afraid to admit it. 💕💕 Only by teasing it up, flirting aimlessly, and getting stuck in situations where they could no longer deny their feelings, did they finally get it on and realize that they were stuck together - for life - exclusivity with each other that neither of them regretted. And to see the lovable cam-boys return - to act as such a supportive and caring unit for Bennet, in his time of need - warmed my heart, very much so!

“All I do know is that I’ve got my guy. My totally impatient, wonderfully sassy, and unbelievably-caring-when-he-thinks-no-one-is-looking Jasper. And with him, it’s like the final piece of the puzzle has been put in place. I’m stronger with him, and I’m surer than I’ve ever been before that this is exactly where I’m supposed to be.”

Check out my review on Instagram.

This is a super cute and steamy frenemies-to-lovers story between Jasper and Bennet. It seems as though Bennet has a little crush on Jasper, but Jasper is easily annoyed by Bennet.

I like his spice and his sass—the way he talks back and how his cheeks flush red when he gets angry. I was inside of him once, and I remember every minute of it. Can’t stop remembering it.

Right away we find out that Bennet's mom had a stroke and is in the hospital. Even though Bennet is not his favorite in the group, Jasper can't just leave him alone to deal with this. He can tell Bennet needs help right now, so Jasper steps up and helps him get home to Kansas. And then when Jasper came to love Winnie the Moo?! Too sweet.

I like the fucking cow. Sue me!” I pull him into me because I can’t help it. He’s so fucking cute. “Not a word,” he hisses, and I press a kiss to the side of his head. We all pat Winnie and she moos loudly, making Damon scream.

The other camboys showing up after the "strong wind" was such a good surprise and really added some fun levity to the book. Adored the conversation Bennet had with with Kristi near the end of the book, as it was super satisfying. I also loved all the little sweet unspoken moments between Jasper and Bennet. Everyone knows something is happening, but no one wants to address it just yet.

I let him hold my hand for a bit. Just because he needs it. It doesn’t mean anything, and I don’t even really like it.

The amount of times Jasper's inner dialogue had me laughing. It was super entertaining. He just fought his feelings for Bennet so hard. The sexual tension between Jasper and Bennet was great. You could literally feel it coming off of them. When they (cough, Jasper) finally gave in to it, their chemistry was off the charts.

Fuck, he’s big. “You can touch it if you want,” he says, and I reach up and flick his ear. “I don’t want to.” I so want to, but instead of wrapping my hand around it, I grasp my own dick and start to stroke.

*** I received an ARC of this book from Indie Author Creative and this is my honest opinion. ***

I'll be honest I only started this book because my brain needed a break - I wanted to read something that required no brain cells or critical thinking skills - and this book was perfect for that. It was short, fun, easy, silly, and a really easy read. I'll save book 3 for when I need a similar brain break.

these two could write a shopping list and i would gladly read that.

it’s so different from reaching reed, and while i prefer it, i still had so much fun.
yes, jasper going with bennet doesn’t make much sense, but i’m here for a good time, not a realistic one.
i loved the characters and yes, there were some things that could’ve been done better but it’s still a good book.

now, where’s damon’s book?
and they said that they planned more series, mark my words, one is about kansas’ cowboys.

I’m sorry, but I can’t. I tried. I couldn’t get into it. I didn’t really like the running theme of “What is Kansas?” and “I’m going to be eaten by cows.” I just thought it was overly silly. It was very light hearted, so some may enjoy that aspect, but maybe I was in the mood for something with a little more zest.

“God, you’re a dream. My dream.... I have wanted you from the moment I set my eyes on you.”

We have Jasper and Bennet, who have a friends-but-enemies kind of relationship, mainly on Jasper’s end. They’re part of the same friend group, and after filming a foursome together, Jasper and Bennet’s relationship has had an undercurrent of sexual tension. Jasper wants to push the midwestern boy away, but after a family emergency, he finds himself at Bennet’s farm falling in love.

I really enjoyed Becoming Bennet more than Reaching Reed to be honest. Jasper and Bennet are total opposites but so perfect for one another. I liked the banter, flirting, and the obvious care they had for one another. They danced around their attraction to one another and their desire for more, but their chemistry was perfect, and they could not be apart from each other at all. Jasper puts up a prickly front, but he’s definitely a soft marshmallow.

We also got very steamy sex scenes, these two have amazing sexual chemistry.

Jasper had some funny, quirky and very much Cora-esque inner monologues, especially about rural Kansas, tornados, and farm animals.

As always, there’s a great cast of side characters, even the farm animals! I already love Jimbob (he was one of my favourite characters) and Ryan, and I can’t wait for their books. I initially thought they might make a good pair (opposites, step-brothers), but it seems like they’ll be getting their own books. So, I am thinking of Jimbob and Damon? Because I can totally see that happening.

Since this is a series about a group of Cam Boys, I am always apprehensive about potential sharing, especially if characters get into committed relationships. I am so happy that Jasper and Bennet become exclusive.

“Well, I really fucking like you, and I’d like to be exclusive.”

“I say because, duh, that’s all I want now too. I don’t wanna fuck anyone else. Just him. Always just him.”

“All I do know is that I’ve got my guy. My totally impatient, wonderfully sassy, and unbelievably caring-when-he-thinks-no-one-is-looking Jasper.”

Overall I really enjoyed this book, which is no surprise as I am a fan of Cora and Nicole. If you love Nicole and Cora’s stories, silly banter, sort of one-sided enemies/frenemies to lovers, quirky inner monologues, forced proximity and opposites attract, I recommend it.

⭐︎ 4.5 Stars Rounded Up! ⭐︎

This was one of my favorites from these two authors and one of my favorites in a quite a while from both these authors.

Jasper and Bennet had amazing chemistry right off the bat. They like to bicker a bit and Jasper tries to dislike Bennett for his own sanity, because after their one and only time together during a foursome scene during a cam boy scene, it felt so good and affected Jasper so much that he's scared of it, where Bennet just wants more and is amused by Jasper's huffing and puffing.

See, Jasper grew up with absentee parents who barely paid enough attention to him to show any type of love, and only did when they wanted him to make them look good.

Jasper is, of course, scared of possible real affection because of that. And so he's "annoyed" by a lot of what Bennet says and does - but not really.

He's very attracted to him but is scared to admit it, so he pretends otherwise and denies until he's blue in the face.

A good portion of this is mainly Jasper trying to resist Bennet, so they get so close to kissing, to more, several times before they actually do anything - and when they do 'teasers' of more to come to their fans? Those torture us readers too! - and it just ratcheted the tension up even more and when they finally *did* do things, it was explosive, it was fire, and I LOVED it.

I don't know if I've ever felt quite as turned on by either of these' ladies' sex scenes as this one. They've come close, and I've had 4.5/5 stars reads before by these ladies, so that's saying something. I've read HOT scenes by them, but none of them quite hit like these two did.

I needed a fan after reading their sex scenes, they were just SO good.

Now, why would I give this book 4.5 stars instead of 5? Well, the main plot is that Bennet's mom has a massive stroke and he needs to go to Kansas, his home state, to see her, but Bennet just shuts down at bad news - literally is barely aware of anything around him - and Jasper is with him when he gets the call, so he helps take care of him and agrees to go when Bennet asks him to come with him.

I mean, him doing that right there says that this could lead to a lot more than the 'dislike' Jasper tries to pretend is there between them. I know I wouldn't just drop everything to fly halfway across the country for someone I didn't care about.

Jasper plans to leave fairly soon after they check in on Bennet's mom, but he ends up staying longer because he finds himself not able to purchase that ticket back to California.

Now, I loved their time in Kansas because they did get to know each other and a lot of walls came down - mainly from Jasper haha - and you could see the progression they were making to become more, and when they get to exclusive boyfriends at the end I was so happy.

My reason for .5 stars off is, I guess, the end when we just kinda get a passing mention of them having been dating for 4 months and halfway through that, they exchanged 'I love you's'

I just feel like maybe less time could have been spent in Kansas and more time could have been spent on showing them getting to the "I love you" stage. Because at the end of the story before the epilogue, they're in the "like you a lot, possible falling for you" stage. Not the "I know I love you" stage, as it has only been about...probably a week or so?

So it's a bit of a bummer to just really get to the beginning of them being together and then the 'I love you' stage is just kinda glossed over in the epilogue.

It made a very strong book kinda go out with a...not a whimper, per se, but...just....less than before, I guess? I was so happy these two were happy and together and in love by the epilogue. But I just...wish we had gotten to see more of them getting there.

Like this was only 218 pages. Take out some of the Kansas stuff - like maybe the other guys coming to Kansas near the end? - and then make this longer - hell I wouldn't mind another 50 to 100 pages, tbh, because I was loving these two so much - and then we get to really see the rest of the their journey to falling in love and knowing and saying it to each other.

So, .5 stars off for this being too short near the end. The whole story didn't have to take place in Kansas - as good as that was, and it was! I adored it all - and could have continued once they were back in California.

Jasper is scared to take that leap for the majority of this and is just ready to start things with Bennet - well for the rest, lets see him still have some fears, but slowly let them go as he and Bennet are together for longer and as his feelings feel more and more solid every day.

That would have just been perfect really rounded this out to 5 stars - maybe even more ;) idk maybe. I absolutely adored what we got.

So, .5 stars off for that. But not too much because I still adored almost the entirety of this book - and do we got another stepbrother romance in our future with Jimbob and Ryan? I felt the spark 😏 - and the chemistry was just SO GOOD and the beginnings of their relationship, the romance, was good too.

Usually I feel like I say things could have been shorter. But this is one where it could have been longer. Like some Alessandra Hazard books...the chemistry SO good and I'm so invested but it ends just a little too soon.

Otherwise, this was perfect and I loved it. Jasper's constant "I'm just wanting to cuddle in bed with him because it's cold. Yeah, that's it" was so funny because we all know he's a lying liar haha. But he kept trying it lol. Bennet knew the truth and so do we. Jasper is gone for the bigger, beefier sweet guy with a BIG dick 😉

Can't wait for the next book. I'm assuming it'll be about Damon. I can't wait to see who will capture the heart of this over the top, flamboyant guy who likes to be the center of attention (but is kinda of a sweetie pie underneath the flashiness).

Onto the next! 😍

I actually loved Bennet and Jasper together!

Their relationship felt natural, and I just found it funny how much Bennet wanted him but Jasper was just like 'Ew, feelings'.

I would have liked more on Jasper's background than just vague hints at his parents and lifestyle, because we got so much of Bennet and his family and how all of their relationships worked. It just felt a little lopsided for me and it felt like I knew Bennet really well, but didn't really know Jasper all that much.

Also the end felt really quick, and I wasn't ready for it to be finished! I did like Jasper's emotional breakdown at the petting zoo, I just wanted to see more of them together after they decided to actually be together - but the book ended!

We all know I’m not a huge fan of these authors but I actually liked Reaching Reed. It was heartfelt and made me cry and I thought these two writers as a duo made a lot of sense. Cora gives life to Nicole’s writing and Nicole tames Cora’s OTT characters or at least that was true in Reaching Reed but this one kind of fell flat for me. The authors state at the beginning that they heard the first one was too sad so they went in a completely different direction but that’s why I liked the first one and was excited to read the rest of this series. Sigh 😔

Bennet and Jasper appear to be enemies in the first book but that’s not entirely accurate. It’s more like after the first time they fuck Jasper felt things and knew if he continued to be involved with Bennet he’d fall for him and for a person who doesn’t let himself feel emotions, it scared him. Bennet on the other hand loves getting under Jasper’s skin and riling each other up is almost like foreplay. I felt like I learned a lot about Bennet because this takes place in Kansas where he’s from and we meet his family and see all the dynamics between them but as for Jasper, he felt a bit one dimensional. He grew up in California, had parents who weren’t all that involved but this is just speculation because he made comments about it in his inner monologue but never talked about it to anyone so 🤷🏻‍♀️ He liked to bowl and was bratty at times but I dont know I just wanted more. This also gave me major dejavu because in Reaching Reed and other Cora books I’ve read recently there’s been similar inner monologues. Her characters always say stuff like “I watched him blah blah and there’s this feeling in my chest now, it must be all the butter I’ve eaten. Maybe I’m having a stroke” and so on. It’s like Cora’s copying herself and whatever works 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I find it too repetitive.

However, I couldn’t put this book down once I picked it up and I couldn’t believe how much of a slow burn this was. Because Bennet’s mom is in the hospital, Jasper takes on this caretaking and cuddling role and it’s not until about halfway through that anything physical happens. I really enjoyed that actually because once they start fucking around on cam for their fans it evolves into them realizing there’s always been more between them. The sex scenes were damn hot too. Jasper was fucking taking care of everyone in his own way, hiding veggies in his cooked dinners so Bennet’s family got the nutrients they needed, feeding the animals even though they freaked him out etc. Cluck Norris and Winnie The Moo were super clever names and made me laugh each time I read them. I really like the friend group and will end up reading Damon’s book even though I should probably stop picking up these authors books. What can I say? I’m a masochist. 😂

- cam boys
- forced proximity
- one bed
- frenemies (ish) to lovers

Jasper and Bennet have an odd friendship. There's tons of snark and hate flirting, and Jasper just being an all around turd while Bennet eggs it on. & after a cam session they did together months prior, their fans are foaming at the mouth for more of them together, but Jasper refuses. As much as he cannot stand Bennet--or so he says, he knows the chaotic chemistry between them would change everything and he's not ready for that. Maybe not ever.

It isn't until something happens to Bennet's mom, and he has to hold Bennet together, that he starts seeing the annoying and gorgeous man as something more than an irritation. & time spent together without their friends as a buffer and getting to know one another, has them caving to their fans and FINALLY doing more scenes together. Except it's not just for their fans, it's for them, and soon the lines start to blur and feelings change.

Cora & Nicole have done it again! I have loved Jasper and Bennet from the beginning when we saw glimpses of them in Carter and Reed's book, and was so excited to see that they would be getting their own book! Their story is just so sweet and funny despite the thing that brings them together, and even though they drive each other crazy they just make sense.

I loved this story. It has humor, heart, and many steamy moments between Bennet and Jasper. These two are such a blast to read. Their chemistry jumps off the page due to their constant bickering that is simmering with sexual tension. I loved getting to see these two alone together, without any distractions where their obvious attraction is the focal point.

Bennet goes through quite a lot of emotional upheavals throughout this story and Jasper is the perfect support system. I loved seeing how helpful, patient, and kind they are to one another. Their obvious attraction is balanced by the many tender and sweet moments between the two.

Overall this is another fantastic entry in this series. The characters create such a wonderful found family where there is never a dull moment. Cannot wait for the next one!

Jasper is 24, a camboy, a little small, but a pistol. Bossy bottom. Very prickly. Bennet is 21, a camboy, a big farm boy who moved to California. The two guys are in the same friend group. They did 1 collab together, but Jasper absolutely refuses to do another, despite the fans (and Bennet) wanting more. Jasper is fighting a losing battle trying to convince himself that he hates Bennet, trying to keep distance between them. He knows how he felt the one time they had sex... Bennet has the power to wreck him. They can't just casually collab.

After a friend night out, Bennet gets a call. His mom had a stroke. He needs to go home to Kansas. But he is in shock and a mess. Jasper takes control of getting him there. Bennet convinces him to come for emotional support. When they get there, they have to sleep in one bed in a tiny trailer. Jasper starts off saying it's just for one night. But next thing, they are eagerly going to bed each night and straight up snuggling. Jasper needs an excuse to give in to his feelings, so almost right away he suggests they collab. And then they are collabing whenever they can, and then screw it who cares about the cameras, just touch me. Swoon.

These guys were great. Such likeable characters. Loved the steam. Loved Jasper's prickliness, Bennet being whipped for Jasper, them both just reaching for eachother all the time even nonsexually for comfort. Loved the domestic moments and banter, how they fit into eachothers' lives. The humour in this was great, Jasper's inner thoughts were chaotic and sooo perfect. Jasper was such a Cora Rose character through and through.

The animals. The freaking petting zoo scene when Jasper was so sad and emotional... Take all my money authors, I am done, so sold for every book you write, I give up. Jasper sobbed at the petting zoo so hard he scared the children and got thrown out/permanently banned. He just wanted to feel close to Bennet and feel what he felt at Bennet's farm. He was a hot mess. 😂👀

I loved this sooooo much. 100% a keeper, will reread multiple times I'm sure.

Btw, anyone else get major Caleb/Sem/Luke/family vibes when Bennet explained they "burn shit" for entertainment? That must have been a Cora line right?! 😂

Some notable moments: (this was me holding myself back)

"Bennet sniffles again, rubbing a hand over his eyes, and I stuff my hands into my pockets. I will not hug him. I will not fucking hug him. He sniffles again, and I sigh, reaching out and pulling him into me."

"I’m too small to save someone. But I could scream nice and loud. I could poke someone’s eyes out very aggressively. By midnight, I’m in a spiral and end up watching the cam videos Bennet and I created, jacking off to them like a sad potato."

"Mothers are huddling their children to their sides, talking in quiet whispers as I clutch the pig, letting its little snout get me all snotty. It’s heavier than I expected which makes me think about Jimbob and his big muscles and sexy farm boots, and I fall to the muddy ground and weep. I’m forcibly removed by an old man who warns me sternly never to come back again."

"“Why did you go to a petting zoo?” Bennet asks me, his body under mine. I draped myself over him and haven’t let go. He’s gonna have to wear me now."

"“And how will it be?” “Well, I really fucking like you, and I’d like to be exclusive.” My breath leaves me, and I feel my entire body tingle in anticipation. “Okay.” Bennet eyes me. “That’s all you have to say? Okay?” My lips twitch. “Yeah.” “Usually you snark and bicker. I figured there would be more of a fight to get you to be my boyfriend.” Gods, that word. I love it. I need it. “Yeah, no. I’m good. Boyfriends. Exclusive.”"

*FYI, I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink."

4.5/5 ⭐️

I loved this just as much as the first book! I loved Bennet and Jaspers personalities and how they were with each other. I loved how easily they became closer and didn’t question how affectionate they’d become.

I probably said this in my last review too but it’s worth mentioning again, I know a lot of people don’t like bow OTT Cora Rose’s books are, but this series has none of that! Idk if it’s Nicole Dykes influence but everything has a really good pacing and there’s no huge dramatics.

Also another note for people who might avoid books with characters who do sex work in case of scenes with other people, neither of them have(or even think about) sex with anyone else from start to finish of the book and they do end up exclusive(meaning they’ll only film videos with each other), same as Reed and Carter.

I feel like this book maybe teased a spin-off off set in Bennet’s home town, there were too many details dropped about Jimbob and Ryan for them to only ever be side characters 👀

I’m looking forward to Damon’s book and seeing who his love interest will be! I have a suspicion there could be more than one, but I guess we will find out!

i knew i was gonna love these two. I KNEW! Bennet is my favorite kind of golden retriever. he just let Jasper snark all over him and liked it anyway. this one didn't have me half as emotional as the first, but the heat between them made up for it for sure.

Jasper is the definition of a bossy bottom. his attitude goes for days, but it never got annoying. i honestly found him hilarious especially in regards to his internal conflict about being attracted to Bennet.

I’m twenty-four, and Bennet is twenty-one, but I swear there are times he acts like a teenager. And it’s not appealing. Not at all. I let my eyes trail down his muscular body and shiver in…disgust. Yes, we are going with that. Disgusting. Just absolutely wretched.

mans is in denial and it is delishhh cos he can't even stop himself from ogling anyway.

Bennet is a country boy from Kansas who moved to California to carve out a life for himself that actually makes him happy. his frenemy situation with Jasper is a highlight. having slept together on camera for work just once, Bennet can't get Jasper out of his head and he knows the feeling is mutual even if Jas simply will not admit.

I know he pretends he can’t stand me, but my dick and I don’t bother to pretend.  I like his spice and his sass—the way he talks back and how his cheeks flush red when he gets angry. I was inside of him once, and I remember every minute of it. Can’t stop remembering it.

the power of that bussy, i guess. anyway when Bennet gets a call from his sister after a bowling game, Jasper is present and jumps in to help when the news of his mother having a stroke makes Bennet turn all but catatonic. Jasper escorts him back home to Kansas and even stays in a rinky dink trailer where they're forced to share a bed the first night. (all the nights that follow are completely by choice regardless of what Jasper says to convince himself otherwise.)

Bennet gets reacquainted with the family he hasn't seen in years and Jasper, wildly enough, fits right in in his own weird way. despite being a city boy, Jasper allows Bennet to drag him through the very country bumpkin experience of petting and milking cows, squaring off with territorial roosters, and burning plastic in big bonfires. throughout their stay, the cam collaboration that Jasper swore would never happen again, ends up happening. more than once. and girl... when i tell you their teasers were hotter than some full blown sex scenes. 🥵 Jasper eventually can't stop himself from admitting, at least to himself, that he for sure wants all of Bennet in all of his business all of the time and prob always did.

I’m starting to feel things. Things like he’s mine. Like I don’t want anyone else to touch him. Which is ridiculous, so fucking silly. He’s not mine. He won’t ever be mine. But I’m feeling possessive. It wasn’t the organic eggs making my stomach churn. It was jealousy. It’s a terrible thing to realize. Perhaps that’s why I’ve been so adverse to Bennet all this time. I knew what would happen if I had him. I realized what this was the first and only time that he was inside of me. It felt so right, so fucking perfect.  I knew in that moment he would absolutely wreck me.

i must say tho my absolute favorite part was just Bennet's thoughts and feelings about Jasper. Jasper has more chapters i think... but Bennet's page time is nothing short of sweet. while Jasper has to caboose every thought of his attraction towards Bennet with some kind of pseudo insult, Bennet just adores that bratty mf. every time he calls Jasper A DREAM, i just melted right away. a puddle.

I know what I want, and I sure as fuck hope he wants the same thing. I don’t want to go from finally having him to losing him. I don’t know if I could take it.

i'm not gonna pretend this is a literary masterpiece that i'll order every copy of and insist everyone read, but i did love it. i loved it a lot and can't wait to read Damon next. muah!

3.5⭐️ - this was overall a very sweet story with lots of likable characters and some quirky animals.

I kind of felt like I was dropped into a story that had already been in progress. Felt a bit abrupt. Especially cause I didn’t remember Jasper and Bennet much from book 1. That is a me problem I suppose.

This was a very one sided (fr)enemies to lovers situation, with one bed forced proximity. Jasper didn’t much care for Bennet. I suppose cause Bennet annoyed him for what ever reasons that weren’t very fledged out. Bennet was always so nice to him too. Jasper was a jerk and unjustifiably so.

I don’t feel like Jasper going to Kansas with Bennet made a lot of sense. It felt forced and odd. Bennet didn’t even ask anyone else first. Also felt weird since they weren’t friends at all.

I didn’t feel the chemistry until Jasper finally stopped acting like an ass and treated Bennet with the same kindness Bennet showed him. I get the push and pull and even found it fun at points but Bennet deserved better.

I didn’t dislike this book at all. I just wasn’t very engaged. The intimacy was pretty good though!! They were sexy and hot!

There was an issue with one of Bennet’s sister that fell flat for me. The explanation and resolution were inadequate and unsatisfying.

What a great follow-up story from the first book, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love this whole group of friends/found family, especially Jasper and Bennet. The snarky banter between them is hilarious, and they're hot as hell together! Jasper had me cracking up while acclimating to farm life, and Bennet is just a big sweetheart. Their journey to their HEA was everything I could have wanted. Can't wait to see who captures Damon's eye/heart. I'm very much looking forward to that.

Audio was fantastic!

This series continues to be a treat. Here we get a better look at camboys Bennet and Jasper from book 1. Their dynamic was weird at first, Jasper super dislikes Bennet for really nonsensical reasons that are never fully explored, but they end up spending a lot of time together in Bennet's home town after a family emergency. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts, but it takes about 50% of the book before these guys give in to it. It was hot when it happened, though, I'll give them that. Jasper is a fun character, full of contradictions, while Bennet is easygoing and down-to-earth, I liked them both. Although, like most MM romances, their communication was shit. Since the setting is rural Kansas, I also really enjoyed the city boy meets farm life vibes. Anyway, overall a fun and sexy book by this great writing duo.

One thing that I just love about these two authors working together is that you know you're going to have a good time reading the books. Becomming Bennet was highly entertaining, funny and over the top in the best way. There are also quite a few sweet moments that give deeper insight into who Bennet is and why he moved away from home to live his life freely in the big city. Jasper, meanwhile, is doing his darndest to keep his distance from Bennet - which doesn't work out thanks to the beloved there's only one bed and forced proximity tropes.

If you're in the mood for some low angst, sweet and steamy times and a lot of laughter, then this one's for you!.

This book was fun and sweet and exactly what I needed after an emotionally taxing week of reading. It felt so nice to relax into the healthy relationship Jasper and Bennet found themselves in. Jasper's reactions to small town Kansas made me laugh and I loved the friendship he forged with Winnie the Moo. I really enjoyed the lightheartedness of the story and the fact that Jasper and Bennet leaned into what they were feeling without a ton of hesitance or wishy washy inner monologue. Jasper had some hang ups that probably should have been explored a bit more and things got a little too dramatic at the end, but overall I had a good time reading this book and liked it more than I did Reaching Reed. Also, these authors have sex scenes down to an art. I didn't find them boring in either book in this series, which is a high compliment from me because I've been known to fall asleep during sex scenes.

I'm looking forward to Damon's book. He had me at neon pink nail polish. But I don't know if I can handle a character named Jimbob, so I hope that's not where Damon's story is going. I knew an actual Jimbob once. They do exist. He didn't have a pig, but he was one, so...

This was surprisingly so good although the ending seems a bit rushed, there wasn't a proper ending or epilogue, which was sad because I really loved the story and the characters, can't wait for the next one!❤️

I hate looking at him. I can’t fucking look away.

I'm always a sucker for a love story where a character actively convinces themselves they hate the other because if they didn't they knew they could easily been to much and be absolutely devastating to them. Yeah, that's the vibe here and I was all for it.

I thought the over exaggeration of midwest living was kind of funny, there are certainly small towns and farm towns like that over the midwest but it was pretty humorous that the trope was played into.

The give and take between Bennet and Jasper was amusing, Jasper constantly trying to keep his emotional distance from Bennet and Bennet just shoving his way in.

This was a clever way to include the camboy trope while it not necessarily being the main focus of the story.

It's a fun quick read and I recommend if you're looking for a fun ride to a happily every after.

Original review from 20th-June/23, but was on the wrong shelf

Bennet's book was funny and light, i'm rating it with 3.5 - 3.7 ⭐, but I'm rounding it down, because it didn't quite deliver what I thought it was going to.

Still better than the first installment.

🔵 Cam boys
🟡 Size difference
🟣 Not really enemies-to-lovers, but at this point we already know it's really hard to find a good book with this trope
🟢 Another couple who's professionally camming becomes exclusive
🌶️ Good spice

If you remember Jasper and Bennet from the 1st book, they had some kind of animosity between them, they collaborated once and after that they didn't really do anything more.

I had no idea what the real issue was, only that there was some tension between them and in this book Bennet and Jasper become lovers.

I liked the friend group and how close they were and I really liked the dynamic between Bennet and Jasper, but I feel like it was on friendly terms more than romantic .

I couldn't feel that great desire they were both talking about, the final resolve about their relationship comes at the very end of the book and until then they're having great sex for the cameras.

Bennet somehow just woke up one day and decided he wanted to end his really successful and lucrative career and be with Jasper. For that to be really believable I feel like there should've been more pining or a lot more of their mutual past in this book.

It was a light, angst-free book and I enjoyed reading it a lot, but I would've liked to be more emotionally involved with the MCs, I believe what happened near the end, with them finally coming together, should've had at least another 30-40 more pages of the relationship development.

For a minute there I thought Bennet and Jasper will move to Kansas and we'll get a few books about the hot country guys, but I don't think that'll be the case.

Give me Jimbob! I totally loved him and I'm very much interested in his book!

✨ARC Review✨
Okay I had to start reading this as soon as I got the ARC notification through and I devoured it, as I always do with anything Cora Rose and Nicole Dykes, these two separately are my faves so ♥️ TOGETHER THEY ARE MAGIC ♥️
Becoming Bennet is the 2nd in the Behind the Camera series, focusing on a group of friends who are camboys. This is Bennet and Jasper's book and I LOOOOOOVED it and love them
Bennet is a Southern Gentleman but also a pain in the arse, and Jasper is just a pain in the arse 🤣 their connection is instant, the subscribers see it and demand more from them but Jasper puts distance between them
They end up temporarily living in a trailer with OOOONEEEEE BEEEEED 😍🥰❤️♥️💖🎉🎊 all the snuggles and all the tension OF COURSE
I loved reading them getting closer, this is fast paced so it is kinda quick but the foundation was already there, they just needed the shove to admit it (or Jasper did, anyway)
I loved this all, 100% recommend it

This was another great co-write by Nicole Dykes and Cora Rose who are just magical when they write together. I really liked everything about this book and absolutely loved Bennet! Jasper was great too but Bennet was such a fantastic character.

I really appreciated how even though this is a book about two camboys and there is work done during the book, it really felt like it took a back seat to the issues that were going on in Bennet’s life. The story was more about Jasper learning that he doesn’t actually hate Bennet and Bennet being there for his family and these two falling for one another.

On a complete side note Jasper with the farm animals was absolutely hilarious. I completely got his initial reactions to cows though as I’m not ashamed to say I’m scared of cows so it was quite funny to read.

Overall, this was a great book in the series and I’m really looking forward to the next book!

This had a very different feel than book one, but I enjoyed it just as much. I love prickly characters who are secretly soft inside and Jasper is a great example of this. His relationship with Bennett is flirty, tender, and just plain cute.

“What’s this for?”
“You just look sad again, and I can’t stand it.
I’ll stop once you seem happy again.”

I said this would be a short review. This book was okay, fine to pass the time and that’s it. I'm actually pissed because I don’t get why they said the first book was sad. Girl, it was not! I LOVED that one and gave it 4 stars because they found a balance between sad, hot, and funny… and in this book, they didn’t, in my opinion.

“Are you saying I’m your type?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying.”

I said it in my review of Bitter Heat and I’ll say it again. BRING BACK SHORT CHAPTERS AND LET THEM STAY, PLEASE AND THANK YOU! I was reading Safe at the same time as this book, and unlike this one, the chapters there were short, I felt like I was flying through them. Meanwhile, this one felt heavy. I don’t know if it was because I was losing interest as the story went on or because the chapters were so long. I kept checking how many chapters I had left just to end my suffering. So PLEASE, SHORT CHAPTERS.

I’ve got my guy. My totally impatient, wonderfully, sassy, and unbelievably-caring-when-he-thinks-no-one-is-looking Jasper. And with him, it’s like the final piece of the puzzle has been put in place.

The highlight of this book was Jasper being jealous lmao, that was so funny pls

“And the entire time you were whispering to him. What were you saying, huh? Was it important? State secrets? Do you work for the CIA now?”

If you don’t know what to read and want something light, funny and quick... with long chapters, pick this book.

Cam-boys in Kansas

If you want a good laugh at the antics of Cali Boys on a farm in the back of beyond in West Kansas, grab a copy of ‘Becoming Bennet’.

Five gay friends, Bennet, Jasper, Carter, Damon and Reed have set up in business in California making intimate videos for the gay entertainment industry. Business is really looking up and they gain more subscribers after every upload.

Bennet, a Kansas farm boy is one of their star performers, and when he pairs up with Jasper it’s fireworks on the Internet. But to Jasper this is just work, he refuses to let Bennet become anything more.

When Bennet receives a phone call from home that his mother is in hospital, after a stroke, he has a panic attack and collapses. It’s Jasper who jumps in and takes care of the necessities to get Bennet to Kansas, pronto.

Bennet doesn’t ‘come to’ even in the plane nor on the drive from airport to hospital. Jasper eventually manages to get him to his family home which is another few hours drive.

City boy Jasper behaviour at the farm is hilarious, laugh out loud funny, especially when he attacked by a crazy rooster called Cluck Norris, a cow named Winnie the Moo and some chickens.

More hilarity ensues when some of Bennet and Jasper’s ‘work colleagues’ arrive to check up on them, following a small tornado which hit West Kansas. The vision of high maintenance diva Damon being chased by an irate ‘Cluck Morris’ rooster had my sides splitting with laughter.

However there is more serious stuff happening, Bennett’s family, (3 married sisters) don’t know how Bennet earns a living that allows him to fund his mothers Health Care and help with the farm. The eldest sister wants Emmet to stay and help with farm and take care of their mother.

Pressure is mounting and Jasper doesn’t think he can stay any longer. He has a one sided conversation with his new friend Winnie the Moo. Should he go or should he stay?

*****************

I didn’t expect this to be such a fun read, great medicine, just what I needed. Nicole Dykes and Cora Rose are authors whose individual books I’ve read before and enjoyed. I hope they collaborate some more.

Haven’t read Book 1 of ‘Behind the Camera’ series yet but I’m going to chase it down and any others in this series.
