Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half-Breeds should be put to death.

As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

Once again, Anna Banks infuses Emma and Galen's points of view with humor, intrigue, and waves of romance.

The ease at which this book sucked me in page after page was hypnotizing. It was so good, I stayed up past midnight, cos I couldn’t put it down.
Emma, a half-blood, had the gift of Poseidon, the ability to talk to sea creatures. However, there is a centuries long law forbidding the existence of half-bloods. As a matter of fact, it was believed there were no more half-bloods because the same movement that enacted the law, also massacred all half bloods known at the time.
Now the fate of their entire species depended on the royal line possessing the gift of Poseidon, and there was no evidence of any among them. In the middle of all of these, one of the prince fell heads over heels in love with Emma, the half-blood.
The chaos and confusion led to everyone questioning the integrity the royals and their entire governmental structure.
This second book in the series tied up all the loose ends from the first book, leaving me to question what the third book is about. I guess I have to check it out and see for myself.
This was a fantastic read! 5 stars!

(So my rating up there miiiight be a wee bit biased. But this is the more accurate one.)
*slight spoilers

Well, well, after a year of waiting after the drastic events of Of Poseidon, we finally get to Of Triton.

And I'm actually kind of disappointed.

This book is waaaay short. (Terrible grammar use right there.) I'm not kidding, I sat down and what felt like 15 minutes to me (or really half and hour to 45 minutes ish) and I was halfway through. LIKE I NEED MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE.

I remember reading Of Poseidon and remember how it felt that it was a beautifully long story, one not to stretched out but a beautiful wonderful length of a book for a reader to enjoy.

Of Triton is just simply too short, and this is probably due to the result of the lack of expansion in certain points of the plot that could've been stretched out a little bit just to up the stakes a little.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the plot and pretty much nothing wrong with the novel- but I don't think the novel was at it's full potential. I would've loved to see more traitorous acts, more tyranny, more of Emma throwing sharks in people's face (OMG THAT MOMENT WAS BEAUTIFUL. JUST BEAUTIFUL.) I think if Anna Banks took a little more time (which honestly, I know everyone complains about novels not being out sooner, but we're ok with it if it means it's going to be awesome) and just rewrote it out a little longer, it would've been way more exciting and tense. (although I was screaming bloody murder at Jagen and Paca the whole time.)

Also. I feel like we missed a chance of charger development also. Emma ended up accepting the fact Nalia and Grom will be together rather easily in the end, despite her initial reluctant acceptance. I also would've loved to see more between her and Nalia.

And Galen. GOD I WANT MORE OF HIM.

But otherwise than that, the plot is gripping, tantalizing, and just a whole heck of fun fun fun. I really enjoyed this novel, and really, the only reason why I'm disappointed is that it is SO SHORT. SO SO SO TOO SHORT. (Can you blame me for wanting more after waiting for a year?)

Overall, an enchanting and tantalizing novel, and with a rather clean ending that makes me wonder what the third book will be about.

Update: the cover is so.. Different from the first one.

It would be really nice if someone handed me this book right now...

Just saying :)

Warning: May contain spoilers for book one

This book takes up a few hours after Of Poseidon left off. Galen goes to fetch Grom, and Emma's mom knocks both Emma and Rayna out with chloroform and kidnaps Emma away. Turns out she's convinced she killed Grom in the mine explosion and this whole thing has been one elaborate set up to arrest her. Yeah, if I didn't already think her mother was nuts (who asks her daughter's new boyfriend why he doesn't want to bang her daughter?), this would have fully convinced me. All the chances he had, all the times they were alone, and all the other ways he could have arrested her if he wanted too, and she thinks he would think that was the right time. And telling her daughter that he never really loved her, that he only ever wanted to get to her mom, that's just cruel. And the worst part was Emma starts to question it, and believe it might be true. I really don't like when I plot is driven by a lack of communication/misunderstanding, and that's exactly what happens for 1/3 of the book.

Then, the rest of the book is centered around trying to expose Jagen and Paca, while being put on trial themselves for all sorts of nonsense. The whole thing was frustrating and unbelievable, but like a guilty pleasure, I couldn't put it down. Then there's a sad twist right at the end that I totally wasn't expecting.

Galen and Emma spend almost the entire book apart. I believe there's maybe two scenes where they are together. And considering that they just became an actual couple at the end of the first book, it makes for poor relationship development. This whole series is pretty romance centered, but most of it is yearning for each other, and not actually being together. Don't get me wrong, I like Emma and Galen together, but I would like to actually see Emma and Galen together. There's also not a lot of Rayna+Toraf, which upsets me because they are my favorite couple of the series. But they too were apart most of the book.

This was a cute continuation of the trilogy; even though it was frustrating at times, it was a fast read.

Thank you Hardie Grant Egmont Australia for sending me this copy. No compensation was given or taken to alter this review.

“I wonder how many tears the ocean has swallowed, how much of the ocean is actually made of tears.”

In a sense, this book is ideal for me to read at this point of the year. The reason behind this random proclamation unpretentiously is because I wanted to see how I have changed as a reader ever since I began to review books. And coincidentally, Of Poseidon, the first instalment was probably the last book I read before officially starting to review novels. It's been 50 weeks since I read Of Poseidon and begun my reviewing journey, and Of Triton really showed the diameter of change and bias in my view on books. Whereas Of Poseidon received 4 stars, (which I strongly deem would be different by now) Of Triton got a much lower rating.

What killed my enjoyment for this book was the main character, Emma. She's a pain that cannot be taken away and pisses me off constantly. Her unkickassness is quite an issue for a supposedly action-packed story. Additionally, I could not quite compromise with Emma's illogical mind and stupidity. At times in this book, there were glaringly obvious situations where I just wanted to tear my head out in annoyance. Even though some people pass Emma's strong-headedness as independent and smart, I felt more inclined on calling her some defiant, stubborn bitch.

On the other hand, the world Anna Banks built was one with great mermaid concepts. Of Poseidon was a little off putting with its purple eyes and other random features as such; but in Of Triton, there's less of that and more politics and hierarchies drawn out with a greater measure. The world building could have been better on so many degrees but the overall idea was entertaining to learn about, and the two sides, House of Poseidon and Triton.

Another downside was the romance. Cheesy and overpowering, I'll tell you now that starcrossed love never will go under my category of 'amazing'. Despite it not having as many make out scenes as I would have predicted, this was by no mean non gag worthy. Galen being a horrifying stereotypical love interest (a.k.a at times possessive and jerk-like) was not a helping factor.

All in all, Of Triton was an underwhelming read that felt a little juvenile and difficult with the sudden changes of perspective and grammatical usage. The dialogue was a strong highlight but I felt that the romance and characters let down Of Poseidon to a great extent. I may be reading Of Neptune, but the chances are extremely low.

I was dying to know WHY Emma's mom is on the run, hiding on land since World War II . And guess what?

IT IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST STUPID LAMEST REASON EVER.

The whole story line is weak, there's no substance and supposedly 100-300 years old Syrena are all acting like some childish brainless teenagers.

At the tribunal, all their arguments are so damn funny because it was SOOOOO immature. Seriously , Syrena needs lawyers from land. Or go study 3-4 years of law and earn a law degree, and be a hot shot Syrena lawyer.

The Syrena would be steamrolled immediately with the way they handle their arguments in court.

Their politics are so WEAK and NAIVE. No government has such lousy politics, even a monarchical or communist government is much MUCH more complex than that .

And Emma is such a whiner! URGH

This sequel is a GIRNOMOUS disappointment.

Before Reading:

I. Need. This. NOW!!
Like, ohmysweetgoodness! I seriously do not have any idea how I am going to wait this long for this book. I mean, I think I freaked out for about 10-15 minutes after I finished the first book!

After Reading:

Okay.... This book was--Amazing!
I loved it.
Just like I loved the first one.
It was a great way to continue where we left off in the first book, with that crazy cliffhanger.
And even though this book wasn't as long as the first one, it was still just as good. And it made up for it. Big time.
It definitely had its "Ohmysweetgoodness" moments. Moments where I could help but start freaking, repeatedly saying, "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!!"
And there was other times when I just wanted to cry, which those parts majorly sucked, and make me sad.
All together an awesome read. And I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out so I can inhale that one as well.

Well there was an old merman in a purple polka-dot bathrobe.

...

...

Honestly, I have nothing more to say about Of Triton. I only read this because somebody was a huge fan of Anna Banks and the first one, Of Poseidon, and if you read that, you'd know it ends on a huge cliffhanger .

Interesting setup for a sequel, right? Nope, because THE WHOLE REASON IS SO CONTRIVED AND STUPID AND FRUSTRATING I WOULD HAVE VIOLENTLY RIPPED THIS BOOK APART IF I HADN'T BOUGHT THE KINDLE EDITION. FOR HER. I think I headdesked after literally like every other sentence marveling at the sheer - ugh, I can't even find the words to describe the plot, yeah, I give up on reviewing this awful, awful book. I just can't.

Luckily for me, the aforementioned former Anna Banks fan wrote one for me. Unfortunately, she hated it too, so much so her review probably shouldn't even see the light of day, much less be posted on the internet. But in the interests of fairly explaining my rating (a generous 2 stars - for the bathrobe), here's the abridged version:
What can I say about this book? It was just outright crappy.

Ya think?
I hated reading about Emma's stupid childish emotions where she can't get over the fact that her mom is in love with Grom and can forget about Emma's father so easily! Like get over it!

Yeah, what was the point of that storyline anyway? It sucked. Royally. And how Banks wrote it made Emma seem like a childish whiner.
Then, we find out why Nalia left the Syrena, but personally, all I can say is that it was the crappiest excuse EVER. Like WTF.

As I was saying...
And then all of a sudden Anna Banks decides to remind us about the whole Paca and Grom are mated and stuff like that and then we have to read about why that causes problems and whether or not it's fixable. I still can't believe that the Syrena were dumb enough to think Paca had the Gift. I mean according to Banks, Syrena broke the law all the time and went to the human world so I mean if they did that all the time, wouldn't they notice Paca was just a fraud?

And here I was thinking the typical paranormal romance reader doesn't care about glaring plot holes...
I was hoping that Anna Banks would redeem herself at the end of the book, but all I can say is that she failed miserably. I was unsatisfied with the book as it was and then she goes and kills one of my favorite characters. Honestly, the only incentive to read this book is to find out who dies. I just am appalled by how much worse this one was. I mean you would think that the book would have substance and like a plot, but upon reflecting on it... THERE'S NO FRIGGIN' PLOT!

Actually, she seems to be taking this quite well, all things considered. There was also some stuff in her review too about how Galen was hotter in the last book, but I don't think I want to get into it.

Tldr: Of Triton is a total dud.

Of Triton was pretty good. I guess it helps going into a book with zero expectations. I just hate being disappointed by books. However, I wasn't really disappointed in this one.

So this is the second book in this series and thank god it didn't fall into the second book kind of slump. I just love Emma and Galen's relationship but other than that I really like Toraf and Rayan's too. Now this was fun to see Grom and Nalia's relationship because I almost forgot about them sort of being a couple since the novella. Boy did I feel bad that I forgot about them and I was so happy that those two got their happy ending!

The ending was cute and it kind of threw me off a little bit. I want to know if they are actually going to go somewhere, like the mountains, but I also have no idea what to expect in the next book or novella. I also want to see more of Rayan and Toraf's relationship - even though I know that this is about Emma and Galen.

I can't wait to read the next book in this series because I just want to finish it so badly but I also don't want to set up expectations for the rest of this series. I'm enjoying it so much that I don't want to be let down.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. I liked it. Although I liked the first book way better I would totally recommend this series to anyone. I just think Anna Banks has a way with words when it comes to talking about mermaids.

Apenas terminé de leer Of Triton Leí The Stranger y bueno, mucha nostalgia.

No espero a leer Of Neptune

Of Triton was an awesome addition to this series. It was fun and totally kept the wonderful pacing that its predecessor Of Poseidon delivered.

This sequel takes place right where Of Poseidon left off. Nalia, Emmas mom, is on the run thinking that Galen is trying to arrest her for killing his brother Grom. When Grom and Nalia come face to face for the first time in many many years their love is instantly rekindled. This isn't all fun and games though, Grom is already mated and with Emma being a Half Breed everyone knows their journey back to the waters won't be an easy one especially with a rebellion going on.

This book was like I said all kinds of fun. Is it amazing beyond belief no, but it was just what I was looking for and sometimes we as readers just need some good ole fashioned fluff. Of Triton wasn't all fluff, but it wasn't filled with drama drama drama. There were so many moments between Emma and the cast of characters that were just perfect. I enjoyed the underwater scenes and I really enjoyed seeing the tribunal happen since it gave us a look into the Syrena history. I am honestly very intrigued by this world that has been created.

So while this wasn't something that will forever be known as the greatest work of fiction, it definitely left a mark on me and I will definitely pick up the next installment. I have absolutely no idea what the third book could be about since this one ends in a good place and honestly that is half the fun. Anna Banks has created a fun world that I can't wait to read more about!

While I did enjoy this book for the most part, it wasn’t nearly as good as the first one in the series. I am still very intrigued by the whole concept though so major points to the author for drawing me in like that! I thought the story got a little too complicated and convoluted in this instalment, I started getting confused with all the different names and craziness going on. It got quite hard to keep track of and affected my enjoyment a bit. I am still curious enough to continue with the third book though!

Holding a grudge is like swallowing poison and hoping the other person dies

Of Triton deserves a different kind of 3 stars than Of Poseidon. On the one hand, the misogyny is toned down as is Galen’s temper, both of these which were the main problem I had with book one. On the other hand though, all the laughs I got from Of Poseidon were gone. I suppose this is typical though of a second book where the tone sombers down (I made that phrase up on the spot) and the characters are out of the “honeymoon period” doing some serious soul searching about the future. My biggest complaint though is that the main conflict in this book is basically useless. To explain it would take a ton of spoilers, but suffice, this book seems kind of like a detour and that the real problem is only rehashed at the end of the novel.

That being said, I didn’t not enjoy (sorry double negative) the story and it definitely flew by for me. Really, I went through this book in what felt like no time; that is I can’t recall ever reading for a long time. But of course this is absurd because it was also eight audiobook sections in length, the same as Of Poseidon. What’s more, I can tell that a ton happened in the book which I suppose is a testament to how fast the pacing of this book went. There’s no down time for any of the characters.

As for the development of characters, it was nice to see Galen trust Emma more but I really would have liked to see more tension as a result of Nalia suddenly being in the picture. Nalia injects a ton of doubt into Emma about the Syrena world (Galen included) but I felt that Emma conviction in what Nalia comes across as half-assed because all of her worries are cleared up as soon as her mother mentions them. I would have liked it more if her doubt was drawn out a bit so that I would be screaming for things to work out when they finally did. The way the resolution of Emma’s doubt was carried out made it seem like a minor inconvenience when there was so much potential for it to be dragged out and at the end make everyone bond more strongly with each other.

Moving on to the fact that the bulk of the book, well the not Emma part, was focused on a tribunal in the Syrena world that was started to figure out the identity of Emma’s mother but ended up as basically this clash between monarchy (poseidon and triton royals alike *gasp* they’re working together!) and faux democracy (spearheaded Jagen and Paca) and I’m sure you can guess who “wins” in the end. Again, while I felt like the conflict was unnecessary, I did like how I was simultaneously excited and frustrated by the tribunal. I felt really into the tribue as if I had a personal stake and when the tide started to turn in a way I didn’t like it, I actually felt anxious and restless; seriously that’s how much I was drawn into the story.

The storyline following Emma though is about how she gets from land to the tribunal. One question, when did she learn how to hold her breath like forever? I feel like she only got to an hour or so in of Poseidon and now suddenly she can spend hours underwater? Someone tell me if I missed a development somewhere but I’m pretty sure she couldn’t hold her breath that long before.

The tribunal also was a stage for a bunch of very interesting revelations; the biggest arguably the revelation of the power of Poseidon. . Still the awesome entrance that Emma makes where she’s in full sass mode all like “Oh don’t mind the shark behind me because I’m sure Paca would never let anyone get hurt” had me internally jumping up and down and screaming suck it to Jagen and Company.

After the tribunal is concluded though, the rest of the book then really felt pointless which is kind of ironic because it’s actually the part that pertains to the real issue: how the Syrena have to adapt to a changing world and how to deal with humans. The book ends in the way a second book should, like it could end here but you know there’s more. I’m interested, maybe not jumping out of my seat excited, in seeing how the series will conclude and if everyone will find resolution.

This review is for all three books—Of Poseidon, Of Triton and Of Neptune—because I read them in quick succession, because I didn't want to stop to write a review. 🤩

description

This is the "tale" of Emma, a high school senior, who learns that she is half Syrena (it's a mermaid/merman, but don't say that to their face) after meeting Galen, a gorgeous Syrena prince, who is allowed to visit land in order to study humans. Emma literally bumped into Galen on a beach in Florida where she and her best friend were vacationing before school started. Shortly after that, something horrible happens and Emma is distraught.

Fast forward to the first day of school back in New Jersey. Emma is sitting morosely in class when guess who walks in? If you said Galen, you'd be right! He realized upon meeting her over the summer, after seeing her lavender eyes and feeling "the pull", that she was Syrena, and he needed to investigate further.

Things don't go smoothly between them at first. Galen isn't human and he never seems to know the right thing to say or do. Plus, he's in all her classes (on purpose) and he comes off like a stalker. Things are different under the sea.

description

Needless to say, after several misunderstandings, they start hanging out, and Galen reveals her secret. Since she's only half Syrena, she can't form a tail, so, at first, she doesn't believe him. AND she's more than a little freaked out when she sees his.

description

But as she spends more and more time in the water, realizing that she can breathe and talk, she accepts what she is. Much of the first book is spent trying to discover who Emma's real parents are, since she figures it couldn't possibly be the only mom and dad she ever knew. We're also introduced to Galen's twin sister, Rayna, and her mate, Toraf (LOVE him 😍), as well as Rachel, the human woman whom Galen saved from drowning when he was a "fingerling". She used to work for The Mob and has an abundance of talents which she uses to assist Galen. This includes selling underwater treasures that Galen brings her, which makes him a ton of money. She plays his mom and does all the necessary human things for him, including purchasing his house and car, enrolling him in school, etc.

The second book picks up where the cliffhanger ending from the first book leaves off. Emma finds out who her mother is (her father had died when she was 15) and misunderstandings abound. When Galen and his older brother, Grom, the king, and the rest of the crew finally catch up with Emma and her mom, the truth of everything is revealed. But just when you anticipate a happy ending, things back in the underwater kingdom go awry. The future looks dim for the royals, as treacherous plots come to light, and Emma's half-breed existence is forcibly revealed.

description

The final book in the trilogy brings Emma and Galen to Neptune, a small town in Tennessee, where full-bloods and half-breeds coexist peacefully on land (next to lots of fresh water lakes and rivers), unbeknownst to their salt water brethren. The first person they meet is Reed, a friendly half-breed who has obvious eyes for Emma. After being invited (and going) to Reed's family's home for dinner, Galen is unhappy about being in Nepture. Later that evening, Galen and Emma have an argument, he leaves, and the adventure begins.

I really loved this series and highly recommend it to anyone who loves sweet and innocent YA romance. All the characters were well-written and the author gives you the chance to get to know each of them pretty well (relative to their importance in the story). This was my first mermaid book and I thought the author did a great job of making that world believable.

I don't think I have any feelings regarding the sequel to Of Poseidon.

First of all, this book did not please me at all. I was bored to tears while reading this book and I can't help but compare this book to the previous one. The alternating POVs wasn't also doing this book any favor. The humor which I came to love, was lost !!! How can that be! I was expecting to laugh out loud halfway through the book. It feels like the thoughts in this book were scattered. And I am indifferent towards Emma, her mom, Galen, Grom and even Rayna. Toraf on the other hand surprisingly made me feel a little bit of sympathy towards him but that's it.

And it also seems like Emma's thoughts are all over the place!!! Like her encounter with Mark, she was thinking one thing at first and then right after talking to him she was thinking the exact opposite of what she has thought beforehand.

And then the tribunal!!! Wasn't the tribunal just about the verification of whether Emma's mom is who she is claiming to be–Nalia the long lost Poseidon heir?? Then how come it became the trial of The Royals? Gahhh, are they really that disorganized to hold a trial discussing all problems at hand at once?? It's confusing and boring and I'm finding it hard to be immersed in the story line. Ugggh.

And the solutions to their problems!!! Not only did it look too easy but it also looked like it was rushed! And once again, thrown at us all at the same time. It's overwhelming and steals away the thrill of the story. Just so many things happening at once!! I do like the epilogue though. Maybe, what I'm really trying to say is that the conflict feels forced and that I wanted more Emma and Galen moments that feel real and that don't warrant an eye-roll. Sadly, Of Triton did not live up to its predecessor, Of Poseidon. So much for being excited. :(

Enjoyable read. I have always been fascinated by the concept of mermaids, so this series is fun to read. Looking forward to the third book coming our in 2014.

PROS:
Entertaining. I was never bored. Sometimes I'm grinning like crazy, sometimes I'm worried, sometimes I want to roll my eyes due to so much cheesiness.

MCs are clever. I hate hate hate protagonists who are dumb, like everything is so obvious to everybody but the protagonist has no clue what's going on. Really?

Emma is not a damsel in distress. She's freaking smart and brave and doesn't depend on a guy to save her.
Plot twists. They keep the story exciting.
Not typical. Even though it's a mermaid story, it's not the usual 'so the mermaid/merman fell in love with a human but alas, the mermaid rules prohibit that.' Although there's a point in the book touching this concept, this is not the whole plot.

CONS:
The change of POV IS CONFUSING. Banks should have written whose POV are we seeing at the beginning of every chapter.

Also, why is everybody sitting on somebody's lap? Even Nalia and Grom who are already in their hundreds! Totally not appropriate

Overall, I Loved it! Good job, Ms. Banks.

I'm not sure I liked this book very much. Almost nothing happened. I'm both sad that it was so short and happy that it was so short.

The writing bothered me a lot. It may be because I've read so many books with such great writing recently that it makes this one laughable. And the writing isn't nearly as bad as Emma: she's immature she was at times. And she would call herself out on it and yet still act childish. I got over her quickly.

Some parts were good and had me glued to the page and other parts had me rolling my eyes.

Oh! And God, I hate the first person to the third person pov. I don't get it. Why could Banks just stink to one? It threw me off so much during the first few chapters.

Sigh, do I even want to read the third book?
Probably not.

Still wish I could talk to fish though!

This book has so much drama!
It was so much fun though. I thoroughly enjoyed this continuation of the series. I especially liked all of the developments in the plot and the twists! I can't wait for Of Neptune.

WHY WAS THIS SEQUEL SO BAD??? I rated the first book, Of Poseidon, 5/5 stars!

:(

The writing started off really well, and then all of a sudden it turned to shit.

Nalia, Emma's mother, is the worst. She is poorly written and disturbing. A bit too much like Tris in Insurgent; infuriating.

Quotes I liked:
"feel like my lashes are coated with iron instead of mascara, pulling down my lids with a heaviness I can't fight."

'I like you, young prince. But you well know the law. Do not disappoint me Galen. My granddaughter is deserving of a proper mating ceremony.'"

Quotes that annoyed the crap out of me:
"Galen runs a hand through his hair. He knows how this works. Toraf will be useless until Rayna is sufficiently calmed down and happy again."

FOR FUCKS SAKE I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GO INTO THE SEXIST FUCKERY THAT'S IN THIS BOOK but you're gonna hear it, if you choose to read on.

"Finally, Grom shakes his head. 'She's a Half-Breed, Galen.'
Mom's head snaps toward him. 'She's my daughter,' she says slowly. She pulls herself from his lap and stands over him, hands on hips. Oh, he's in serious shiznit now. And I cant help but feel elated about it. 'Are you saying my daughter's not good enough for your brother?'"

Like I said before; I hate Nalia. This snippet was the most ridiculous shit bit I'd read so far.

WHAT'S UP WITH ALL THE LADIES SITTING ON THE GUY'S LAPS. DO THEY NOT HAVE CHAIRS?

"Galen knows he shouldn't have let her free, because she's definitely got tantrum all over her face, but he's too curious to see how Grom will react."

THE SEXISM IS ABSURD WHY IS THIS EVEN IN HERE WHO READ THIS AND THOUGHT IT'S A FINE SENTENCE LIKE LOOK HOW MANY THINGS ARE WRONG WITH IT oh. my. god. I can't... even begin to properly rant. My brain.

"She crosses her arms. 'Why hasn't Grom come for me?'

WHY DO YOU NEED TO BE CONSTANTLY SAVED AND ATTENDED MY A MALE WHEN YOU WERE SHOWN AS A BADASS WHO COULD DEFEND HERSELF FOR 18 YEARS PRIOR????? WHY????

That's all the energy I have left.

What the fuck even happened? I'm so disappointed. I had such high hopes after the first book (a 5/5 star-er!!!).

I will continue to read this book, because I've already downloaded it on my kindle.

Ugh.

bad bad bad!

Whatsup with all these mean authors who torture their readers?

I need this book. Like now!

it one out of five because there is no release date

Update: July 12, 2013

Publication: May 28, 2013
Publisher: Feiwei & Friends
Source: ebook

After long days, weeks, and months of unwavering patience, I am horribly disappointed by Of Triton. It's a highly anticipated sequel to Of Poseidon, the first book in the series. Of Poseidon started off beautifully. Every word, every sentence, every page, every chapter fits perfectly like a puzzle.

Of Triton isn't as good. I'll explain why.

The plot is good. Everything is perfectly paced and perfectly worded. I loved it. The setting, mostly involving or in the sea, is beautiful. I can feel as if I am there with Emma and Galen, fighting the evil and dark forces like Poseidon imposter's father. (I forgot what's her name.) Of Triton whispers many themes. I'm not going to mention the loudest of them all, however. It'll ruin the book.

The conflicts between the law and Emma, Of Poseidon and Of Triton against the law, and the long-lost Poseidon Princess versus most of the court are interesting, but not exactly entertaining. Yes, there's some good, enchanting pulse to it, but it isn't as strong as Of Poseidon's conflicts.

The ending is beautiful. From what I see, it looks like Of Poseidon and Of Triton will be the only books in the Of Poseidon Series. However, rumor has it that the third book, Of Neptune, will be released in 2014. I don't understand how is that possible. One possibility is there is going to be a fight/debate involving humans and Syrena.

Now I will explain why Of Triton isn't as good as Of Poseidon. I don't really know how to explain this but Of Poseidon has that inner flame. Its tone, maybe wording or plot, appealed strongly to me. Of Triton? Sure, there's some siren calling, but not as strong. What happen? Of Triton lost its voice? Ursula stole it?

Characters:

Note: Please give a moment of silence for one of our beloved characters who died in the battlefields. We will always miss you.

Emma and Galen are two peas not exactly in a pod. They are adorable together. Unfortunately they don't have a lot of moments together. I need more Emma/Galen moments.

Rating: Three out of Five

4.5 stars I REALLY Enjoyed it.

Nothing beats a hot summer read like a well written undersea romance. Every summer reading list should have at least one book on it that contains mermaids and an exciting undersea mythology. OF TRITON should be on your lists. Like with Of Poseidon, Anna Banks delivers another fabulous read with Of Triton. With it's snark, sizzling romance, and characters who spring to life, I couldn't help but fall in love with the world and mythology she's created, all over again. I'm a sucker for a story that has an addicting romance, characters that are easy for me to fall in love with and care about, and an exciting mythology that's the story's backbone. OF TRITON has all that. I really enjoyed everything about this book.

İlkini daha çok beğenmiştim ben.Başka kitaplarda kıyaslandığından çoğundan iyiydi ama kendi içerisinde kıyaslardam ilki hala favorim.Bütün olaylar bir sonuca kavuştu sayfa sayısı az olduğu için biraz fazlaca hızlı oldu hatta.Yazar üçüncü kitapta ne işleyecek diye düşünürken bir baktım bizim Galen'e rakip geliyor.Reed bakalım hikayeye nasıl bir ivme kazandıracak.
