ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Candace Blevins writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, epic fantasy contemporary BDSM romance, and two kick-ass motorcycle club series. She’s published more than fifty books. Candace lives with her husband of twenty-four years and their two teenaged daughters. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhounds are usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company. Or sometimes not so quietly.

Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.

Candace's various paranormal romance series are all sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.

Her Dark(ish) Faerie Tale series gives us a close-up and personal look at Queen Mab, and her Dark Underbelly series is, as you’d expect, dark and (if you’re a little twisted) oh-so-yummy.

Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

Editor's Note: Before you read this, be sure and read Safeword Davenport first.

So to recap real quick, I liked Dana, Brent and Jacob. I tolerated Zach. I really couldn't see what Dana found appealing about him. After reading this, I am honestly still trying to figure it out.

Dana is both a submissive and a masochist as we found out last time. She also discovered she has a Dominant Streak but isn't really into Switching with someone. So her relationship with Jacob fulfills the second part and her relationship with Zach sort of fulfills the first.

Supposedly Zach is a Dominant but not a Sadist. I got that he wanted to be a Dom. I just thought he was absolutely terrible at it. The whole punishment for lying on the bed thing really exemplified it for me. He wasn't so much a Dom as a Control Freak. He wanted her to fit in this perfect ideal he had in his head. The problem I have is when Dana wasn't live up to his ideal, was it his fault or hers? Someone who knew what he was doing would have figured it out. Instead he spent three days punishing her for something that happened because he didn't convey his expectations well enough. And when we find out what happened, he wasn't the least bit remorseful in my opinion.

And it wouldn't have been so bad if it were for his stupid ideas about safewords. She would have ended the punishment earlier and maybe they would have talked. I don't mind at all when submissives say they don't want safewords and I always enjoy when Doms refuse to play without one. I have a huge problem when the submissive does want one and he ignores it. I don't care if it is a punishment or not, it was too soon to be doing things on that level IMHO.

Then eventually we find out about Alice and some of his weird behavior is explained. It was based on Fear. Which makes him even more pathetic to me because he didn't bother to explain it to Dana. In a BDSM relationship communication is key. In the kind of relationship he wanted it was even more so and he utterly failed.

The best moment in the book for me was when Dana left. It was very similar to moments in Owning Wednesday and in Mercy where the female leads walked out. I cheered them on as well for exactly the same reasons. Dana need some time to think and Zach needed some time to grow up.

I kind of hate that my whole review turned into a rant about Zach but it really couldn't be helped. Other than the parts where he was annoying me, I generally enjoyed everything else.

Bonus Points: If you figure out the significance of the Aquarium and the Moving Company. That was a nice touch.

Dana continues her Domme journey with Jacob as well as her sub journey with Zach. Based on the emotional upheavals in the first of this two part series, one would expect this book to be a smooth smexy sailing of sadistic scenes. This would be a false assumption.

A happily ever after story is basically when the author decides to end the story. Usually, this is after a happy event. Ms. Blevins appears to enjoy taking the long and winding road which also happens to be an emotional roller-coaster. While Dana is finally reconciled with her past, now Zach's wounds from his past are torn open. His method of handling it, is quite understandable. His choice of words on the other hand, are easily misinterpreted by a fragile Dana.

If this book is designed to cause heartbreak, it succeeded. The happily ever after evaporates in an explosive meltdown which was unpredicted and throws the reader into a loop. There are unresolved issues between Dana and Zach which are miscommunication and end in a terrible gut wrenching pain. If it were not for Jacob and Brett, this could have gone really badly.

Emotionally exhausting trope aside, the BDSM scenes in this second part are OUT OF THIS WORLD. The metal chain? The electrical scene this second time around is screaming HAWT! The punishment of Dana's mistake is frighteningly strict. The truth or dare game was intense. As soon as the game was proposed, the reader's stomach most likely dropped as a sense of foreboding appeared.

One would think the story ends here. All is well. Instead, Ms. Blevins continues to deliver further bonding between the quartet with additional BDSM scenes which has the reader wincing and lusting while trying very hard not to take time out for a little "alone time". The punishments are reinforced in this story and they are scary. Zach means business, as does Brent.

The finale with the marriage preparation, the wedding and honeymoon ends this wild ride with a bang. The piercing, orgasm denial, and constant anal training is breathtaking and intense. This book is a fitting end to a lovely set. This book is recommended for BDSM lovers who love the TPE as well as SM.

My mind is on fire, my soul is on fire, feeling hot Hot HAWT!
This pretty much sums up the emotions drawn from this book. From safe contentment to frustrating drama to heartbreaking mis-reaction, to deus ex machina (or, you know, a spanking bench) to soaking panties, this was a wild ride. And it was absolutely worth it.

I have read the first part of this duet a long time ago, and it took me less than 20 seconds to remember who everyone was, what was their place in the story (or in the bed, or garden, or club) and what ailed them. At first it seemed like this would be a book about a happy couple overcoming their emotional hurdles and enjoying a life full of kinky sex. But nooooo that would have been too easy for Ms. Blevins, who pulled a Jesus and decided to slap us on the other cheek with yet MORE painful drama, from Zach's side now.

Why, Ms. Blevins? Why did you have to hurt us so badly?
I admit, I am so very much not a fan of such confrontations, especially since they can so so easily be resolved with a modicum of patience, self-control and open communication. I got close to pillow punching at some point with Dana, but I forgive her (and Zach that heartless bastard) because I love punishments... and that was one INCREDIBLY FANTASTIC scene! Gimme gimme gimme!

Also, kudos to awesome friends. Jacob and Brett for the win. I wish I had friends like that who'd let me watch and play with them...

I like the author, I don't love this book as much as her others. I also grew to like Zach less in this book than in the previous Safeword Davenport. I like all of the other character's. Some of the kink veers outside of my zone, but Blevins writes so well I can squirm past it. Blevins is defiantly not BDSM light, and may not be for everyone. I do recommend her for lovers of harder kink who also like HEA.

Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon is the continuation of Dana’s story, working through her grief over the loss of her husband, Garnet and beginning her life with Zach. Under no circumstances could you read this book without reading Safeword: Davenport first. You will be lost, you won’t understand why things happen in this book the way they do and you’ll absolutely regret not reading a wonderfully written book.

With that said, Davenport and Chiffon picks up exactly where Davenport ends, with a Happy Ending (for now) for Dana and Zach. There is still so much more to explore and experience between the two of them and how do Brent and Jacob figure into the story? These questions, and more are answered here.

Again, another OMG book by Ms. Blevins. This book contains graphic language, consensual BDSM, bondage, extreme electrical play, enemas, and the use of toys including clamps, canes, plugs, cages, paddles, whips, and floggers. (That is the warning from the beginning of the book – believe it!)

I was totally impressed with this book. There were scenes in Davenport and Chiffon that had me squirming – do they really do this? Yes. As I said, I made sure when I went to BDSM sites to authenticate TPE and what it may involve. It is very had to explain all that happens, how they ALL come to their HEA here, without giving away a lot of the storyline. I would rather you read it in its entirety so that you understand how they all come together.

In Davenport and Chiffon, Dana faces the reality that she did fall in love with Zach and is ready to move on. Brent and Jacob had a lot to do with her coming to terms with her Masochism, with Zach’s need for TPE and not being a Sadist. She also finds herself falling in love with Jacob as well. Jacob is Brent’s full-time Submissive and is also bi-sexual. The scenes where Dana “Tops” Jacob are wonderful. Of course, Brent and Zach are there to watch and supervise but the connection between the two of them is phenomenal.

Zach and Brent become friends, trying to find a way for everyone to have who and what they want/need in their relationships. What transpires is unbelievable. Zach learns to yield a whip to give Dana what she needs. Brent alters his contract with Jacob to allow Dana to Top him. Dana accepts loving 2 men. But, that is just a quick synopsis. There is no way to describe all that happens to bring them to this point. There was a point in this book that I cried – my heart broke for Dana and couldn’t understand how Zach could do that to her when he was the first to say “I Love You”. I loved Brent’s game that finally brings Dana and Zach back together and the scenes where they are working to that “trust” again were heart-warming.

I learned how and why contracts are signed in a D/s, M/s, TPE relationship. They are important for such things as punishments, when and IF safewords can be used. Yes, “if” is the operative word here. There are times that they are not allowed to safeword – take whatever punishment is being meted out. But, boy do Dana and Jacob get off on that. There is extreme orgasm denial, severe piercings and electrical play. And a wedding, with one hell of a reception afterward. Oh, no guests were invited. Ahh, to be a voyeur there……45 minutes of orgasms. Can you handle it? And, I know I keep saying “extreme” but there is no other word to describe the “playing” in this book:

***POSSIBLE SPOILER***
He lifted one end and squirted lube on it. “This is stainless steel, and there are four feet of
it.” His gaze rose to meet hers. “I intend to get all four feet inside of your pussy. Have you have
had this done before?”
Dana shook her head. Speechless.
“I’ll go slow so we can stop any pinching before it gets too bad. It’s not supposed to hurt,
tell me if it does.”
The process was clinical at first — lube a few links, push them in; lube a few more links,
push them in. She felt a slight pinch a handful of times, but as soon as she started saying “Ow,”
he was straitening things out and fixing it.
“I fully expect you to have at least two orgasms without permission tonight. Punishment
won’t happen until tomorrow, and I’m not telling you what it’ll be; only that it won’t involve
your back or ass, and the minute you’ll withstand for every unsanctioned climax will make you
lament losing control. Two minutes will be quite painful, but bearable. More than that? Let’s
hope you don’t go there.”
He fell silent, concentrating, engrossed in the process.
Eventually, she began feeling full, moaning with every link he packed in. The lube time
was a rest period, where she relaxed a second and then prepared herself to be stuffed still more.
“I’m so full, Sir. I can’t hold more. That’s it. Please.”
“But more still fits. See? There went another. And look, I can put my finger in and mix
them around,” he said, ignoring her gasp. “There’s plenty of room. I know you feel full, but I
want to see even more inside of you.” His voice grew firmer. “Look at me, Dana. Do you wish
me to stop when I’m not finished?”
She’d been watching his hands, with the chain in one and lube in another. She raised her
eyes and met his, saw an intensity that made her breath catch and her heart trip over it, and she
recognized his need.
“No, Sir. I don’t want you to stop.”
The metal grew hot inside of her, the weight of it pushing against her g-spot, rubbing and
pressing more and more with each link until she thought she’d go mad with lust. “I need to come, Sir! Please!”
“Not yet.” He shook his head. “You don’t have permission.”
The driving need inside of her grew desperate. “I’m not sure I can stop it. Please help me,
Sir. Please!”
A tug vibrated through her as he gently laid the chain on the bed, and she was grateful he
hadn’t just dropped it. He wiped the lube off his hands before he placed them on her knees.
“Slow your breathing — fill your lungs completely, then empty them. Feel the air brushing
against your windpipe. I only have another four or five insertions and it’ll be in you. Let me
know when you’re ready for me to finish. You can do this.”
She listened to the calming sound of his voice, felt the warmth of his hands on her knees
anchoring her to the non-erotic parts of her body, and did as he said — slowing her breathing and backing out of the orgasm. She nodded. “Okay, Sir. I’m ready.”
“Excellent. I’m pleased.”
The final links were terrible and beautiful. She felt as if her insides were so expanded
nothing else could possibly fit, and yet he kept pushing more into her. When he finally pushed
the last link inside, so none was hanging out, the sensation took her breath away. She was
incredibly turned on, her heartbeat stronger in her lower belly than it was in her chest, and a fire raged inside of her that almost overwhelmed her — but she wasn’t in danger of an impending orgasm, so she could enjoy the sensations.
“I have a challenge for you, before we begin the next stage of stuffing you full.”
The next stage? What was he talking about? No way would he get anything else in.
“Im going to help you stand — slowly. Once you’re up, I want you to walk to the door,
then to the end of the hallway before walking back to bed.”
He put one arm behind her back and another under her knees, turning her until her legs
were sideways off the bed. She gingerly slid off, with him holding her upper arm for support, and could feel gravity shifting the chain as the weight left the rear wall of her pussy and transferred to her pelvic floor. She took her first step, Zach still steadying her, and gasped as her muscles embraced the unyielding metal, detonating against sensitive nerve endings and sending her blood boiling. She clenched hard to make sure nothing came out, but realized the entire mass couldn’t fall out as one unit.
He let go of her after the third pace, assured her balance was okay. Dana walked out of
the room and carefully made her way down the hall. Zach was leaning in the doorway when she
turned, eyeing her like a leopard watches a gazelle, and she held eye contact as she walked
towards him, his dominance making her feel more submissive with every step.
She was about five feet away from him when the chain and muscles moved together just
right and her control shattered like a dropped mirror as her insides splintered into powerful
spasms around the unforgiving steel — the orgasm taking her over, stealing her breath and
shaking her to the very core.

This is just a small example of what Zach puts Dana through to gain her trust. What happens after that had my mouth hanging open but it didn’t stop me from reading on.

But, learning to trust your partner to be who and what you need, to give yourself completely to a love that will bring you to new heights, is the true story behind this book. The true love, the true trust and the true lust is what brings these four people together to live a long and happy life. If you think about it, even if you are not in a D/s, M/s, TPE relationship, isn’t that what you truly want in your life. Love and trust – you couldn’t ask for anything more.

Safeword Davenport and Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon are two halves of a longer story, one that begins with a woman slowly, almost reluctantly, recovering from the death of her husband (the only Master she's ever known), and a man recovering from the death of his wife (not the only, but the most significant slave he's ever known). There's a romance there, a promise of an outwardly seeming normal relationship, but one built around the idea of a total power exchange. As you might expect, it's a story that blurs a lot of lines, and occupies the shadows between those lines.

Between fantasy and reality.

Between romance and erotica.

Between domination and sadomasochism.

Between pain and pleasure.

I struggled with this one a lot, finding myself equally drawn to and repulsed by what was happening. The romance worked (both despite and because of the darkness), and the power exchange itself was undeniably attractive. Dana and Zach are both fascinating characters, well-rounded and well-developed, and the supporting cast is far more than just the usual Master/Mistress/slave background participants. I quite liked the start honesty of the writing, and the loving attention to detail in every scene.

Having said that, the shadows had me uncomfortable, particularly those between pleasure/pain and domination/sadomasochism. Personally, I am quite attracted to the idea of the power exchange, to the giving up of control, but Blevins takes it to an extent I've never before encountered. The idea of a safeword is something I've always known as being synonymous with 'stop' or 'enough,' a clear request to be respected without question. Here, there is a price to the safewords, a request granted but only at a cost. While the story rings true, the authenticity of that 'reality' definitely challenged my 'fantasy.'

For me, the second book was definitely the stronger (and more balanced) of the two, mostly because it introduced a level of honest communication and the fair exchange of ideas that I felt much more comfortable with. Jacob and Brent really bring something special to the story, which rather surprised me, since I wasn't sure what kind of role they would ultimately play.

Definitely a remarkable tale, and one that's exceptionally well-told - so long as you don't mind some winces and shudders mixed in with your gasps and shivers.

I'm going to give this book five stars because I enjoyed this second half of Dana and Zach's story way better than the first. I enjoyed the first one too , but this one was nice because the relationship became more intense this time around.
This story concentrated on the relationship between not only Dana and Zachl; but also Jacob and Brent as well. What was nice was they found a solution so that Jacob and Dana could have a relationship too! All four became extremly close and it was very cool to see that they could all be together! The story mainly focus's on the group dynamics; but a "bump in the road" happens and Zach becomes confused to what he wants and speaks to soon causing Dana to be emotionally hurt. Major conflict arise and if it wasn't for Jacob finding a way to get this couple to talking they could have been in a bad way. The conflict gets solved and then some big decisions are made involving all four of them.
Once again the writing in this is imaginative, descriptive, and precise. I love that so much about Candace's writing. The BDSM scenes are once again the "real deal" and hard core. I love knowing that I am reading some pretty authentic scene's. This book is not for the faint at heart!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Okay, let me tell you right off the bat that if you aren't into hardcore BDSM and especially anal use, this is NOT the story for you. If you are into those things or aren't scared to give the book a shot - you will thoroughly enjoy it. You MUST, however, read the previous story; Safewords: Davenport. The story between Zach and Dana started in Safeword: Davenport and continues in this installment and builds. Add in the relationship between Dana and Jacob and you've got a great story of someone who is finding themselves in the BDSM world. Brent and Jacob play a more pivotal role in this story and that makes the story what it is.

What impressed me the most is that Blevins didn't shy away from any sort of play in the story. Too many stories glaze over harsh play and either make it a closed door scene or they soften it up. Blevins gave it to us full force and I enjoyed the way the scenes were written. Were they my cup of tea? Not all of them, but they were written in a way that didn't make me dislike the Dominants or feel sorry for the submissives. The story was so well intertwined that I wanted to keep reading. Even when the story ended. I want more Zach, Dana, Brent and Jacob.

Well I loved Safeword Davenport so of course I loved this one as well. I'm glad we got a sneak into the "rest of the story" with Dana, Zach, Brent and Jacob. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the femdom aspects of these two books but I'm going to be actively looking for a few more femdom stories for 2013.

Candace Blevins is a master of mixing an emotional story with character growth with some very hot sex. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

a review of this book will be posted on my blog www.vivacioushobo.com on January 1, 2015. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. After reading the previous book, which is the only connecting story in this stand alone series, I just had to read this one, and find out what happens to the characters. This ain't your mama's bdsm novel (cough, 50 shades, cough). It is for hardcore bdsm fans.

Dilemmas

A nice enough narrative. It held my attention. There was some hot, very kinky moments that I found interesting. The dynamic between the various relationships was fascinating. However, I got the distinct impression this was a part of a much bigger story. There was something that came before. I was expecting a complete, stand alone story. I do not like the feeling I have missed something. I have come to the conclusion that if I choose to continue reading this author, I will have to start with the first book published and continue reading each book as they were released. No jumping around. The books are too intertwined. That raises the question, do I want to make that kind of commitment with my time, not to mention money?

The BDSM scenes in this are a little over the top. So much pain and once the pleasure part comes around I can’t get into it. But I rated it a 4 since she can write a decent sex scene, just not entirely my game.

Today's review is on Safewords-Davenport & chiffon by: Candace Blevins

Davenport:
First and foremost I must repeat the warning listed on Amazon for this book. "This title contains graphic language, consensual BDSM, bondage, intense sensory deprivation, extreme electrical play, enemas, and the use of toys including clamps, canes, plugs, cages, paddles, whips, and floggers." With that said, if these things excite you, then you will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. And while the sex and exploration are almost nonstop, there is a also a fantastic story of loss and love.

Dana and Zach have both suffered the loss of their respective spouses and are trying to get on with their lives. But love never tells you when its coming, and it jumps out at you at the most unexpected times. In the case of these two, attraction is almost instantaneous when Dana is hired to redecorate Zach's home. Dana makes it clear that she never dates her clients, so right after Zach hands over his final check ending their "business" relationship, he asks her out.

Though Dana is a Sub, she never thought she would be able to give herself over any other man, but there is no denying she is turned on by Zach and the many BDSM items he has in his home. Not to mention his beautiful blue eyes. And though Zach is a true Dom, he is not a Sadist, and Dana thrives on pain.

Will these two be able to overcome the obstacles? Only time and a little exploration, both mentally and sexually will tell.

Chiffon:
Dana and Zach are happily enjoying each other and their growing relationship, and though there are a few bumps in the road, they work them out with understanding and communication. But when a terrible accident leaves Dana beaten and bruised Zach seems unable to even look at her. Thankfully Jacob and Brent are there for her.

Once back home, Dana is further hurt when Zach is unable or unwilling to accept her submission leaving her no choice but to pack her bag and leave. Not willing to return any of Zach's calls or emails though doesn't give him the chance to explain, and their relationship falters. With the help of Jacob and Brent, and a unique twist on the classic game of Twister, the lines of communication and understanding open and become stronger than ever.

Many times I found myself strongly connected to Dana in Chiffon. I cried along with her and was filled with joy when things worked out for her proving that this is not just a book filled with sex, sex, and yet more sex. It is also a book with a serious plot, a plot that you cannot help but to fall in love with.

I love books that can take me out of my comfort zone. They offer a chance for reflection and thought. Safewords: Davenport & Chiffon is one of those books. It brings with it a chance for intellectual exploration, and who knows, maybe a chance for a little sexual exploration too.

The first book in this series Safewords: Davenport was amazing. Yes there is sex and BDSM in the book. However there is more to the book than just that. This book takes a reader through the relationship of a couple that has the alternate lifestyle of BDSM. This book shows that even though this is something different it is not a bad thing to feel or enjoy this with you partner. However it should be with a partner that you trust.

One Sunday while sitting at work waiting on parts I started reading this book. I was so engrossed in reading that n associate that I was training had to come shake my shoulder to get my attention. He stated that he had been talking to me for over 5 minutes and I did not answer him. It has been several years that I have been this absorbed into a book.

This book is not for everyone. This book has sex scenes, whips, spanking, rough sex and bondage along with several D/s scenes.

Dana is recovering from the death of her husband. It has been 2 years and she is still finding out who she is as an individual. This is not something that can happen overnight. She has She felt like she lost everything when he died. She had to go out and find herself to know what she wanted in life. Yes, with her husband she did have a D/s relationship.

Zach is also recovering from the death of his wife. It has been around 2 years also. He is learning to live again. He has asked Dana to re-decorate his house to his taste and not what his wife wanted. Dana did not know anything about Zach’s lifestyle until she walks into his bedroom. Zach has a special bed designed for BDSM relationships. The author does not explain a lot about the bed, however I would love to see a bed like this.

This book is more than just about sex or a BDSM relationship. The author takes the reader on a expedition through all the problems a couple faces with problems from the past.

Thanks for an amazing read Candace.

Review:

"Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon" by Candace Blevins was a good (BDSM)
erotic merage romantic read. This was a friendship with Zach, Dana, Brent and Jacob. Let me say this is a ADULT AUDIENCE ONLY! Now, having said that this novel deals with how these four people 'grow and develop a very close relationship.' "Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon" is the fifth in a series from this author and continues from Safeword Davenport #4... so my suggestion would be for you to read #4 before reading #5, however...#5 does stand alone and it is a well written amazing read. There will be many 'lessons to be learn and knowledge to be gained.' from this read. I do not want to give away any of this...other than to say...I hope I have your interest in wanting to pick up "Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon" to see what Mrs. Blevins can and does bring to her readers. Be ready for "a book that contains graphic language, consensual BDSM, bondage, extreme electrical play, enemas, and the use of toys including clamps, canes, plugs, cages, paddles, whips, and floggers. (That is the warning from the beginning of the book DO believe it!)." Now, if all of that doesn't bother you...you will be ready for this read. Since I am a book reviewer... I real all kinds of reads and I will only say WOW to this one. Indeed, it held my attention! Having to ask permission? What does that have to do with all of this? ... You must pick up this read to find out. Even though there is much sex and exploration that seems to go non stop, however, you really will get a good amazing story of loss and love.

Would I recommend "Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon" to all Adult readers..well the decision is simply up to you....I found it quite interesting and well written novel that left me saying WOW! By the way I gave this read 5 stars!

As reviewed on Kinky Book Reviews by Riane:

In Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon, you follow the continuing story of Zach and Dana relationship, including their friendship with Brent and Jacob. We got to meet and fall in love with all of the characters in Safeword: Davenport. This book shows us how they grow and develop a much closer relationship.

Since receiving a copy of this book for review, I’ve read it twice. Yes, twice. The first time I read it, I really enjoyed it but felt a little disconnected in parts. I had a hard time handling some of the scenes. I would have likely given it a good review, but I felt I was missing something. So, given the fact that it’s a continuation of Safeword: Davenport and I wanted to see if the reading was different if you started at the beginning and read it straight through. The answer was absolutely. Reading the books back to back allowed me to fall into the right headspace and feel right along with Dana so that while I may have still gone into overload a couple of times, I was able to see where Dana was and it worked.

I loved this book. I cried, again. I thought all the crying had been handled in the first book, but I was wrong. There were some hard scenes, not because the story lacked anything, but because wow, Candace Blevins has an sadistic streak that is amazingly wonderful.

Bottom line for me is read this book!! Can you read the books separately? Yes, but I honestly feel that you go deeper into the story if you read them back to back. Can you read this one as a standalone? I wouldn’t recommend it. Should you read other books by Candace Blevins? Only if you want well written, intense BDSM erotic romance that you can’t put down even at 3am. I know that even after reading both books twice, I am seriously thinking about a third go around very soon.

We got to see more about the relationship between Zach/Dana/Jacob/Brent as they become a foursome. I liked the story for the most part but I don't see how Dana forgave Zach so quick after he refused her submission and hurt her so bad. I think he should have had to give Dana a forfeit. It made me laugh out loud when he is made to admit he is reluctant to hurt her and leave marks because his ex's best friend beat his wife and hurt her badly. Let me say here, that his problem was he let it be seen for everyone to know and done some permanent damage the only difference is in my eyes is the physical damage. The pain was no more than Dana has to submit to most of the time. Something is wrong with a person like Zach does, he gets off on hurting Dana to an extreme that even Jacob couldn't take. This especially to someone they love. If the person wants it that's one thing but to do it because it turns him on is horrible. And then tell them to take it for them. That they won't give them more than they can take. There is no way he can know this unless she actually passes out from it It's not his place to know how much she can take. That's what a safe-word is for.
Someone is stupid to let them take their safeword away from them. But this is my thoughts so I can't take away from the story so much because of that reason. I like the kink and the pain for pleasure parts but not hurt them because it turns the person on doing it. They are no better than the ones who do it when they hurt them through words or slaps, punches etc. He just does it in a way others can't see. But I ove seeing the connection between Dana and Jacob.

While the second part of this duet was entertaining, I nearly threw my kindle across the room when Zach, in order to reclaim Dana...after he rejected her submission and kept information from her, pumped a plug to an excruciating size to prepare her for him. She accepted his torment. Love. Pumped up, he then used her mouth. All part of reclaiming, from Zach rejecting her, she had to suffer, while he inflicted more pain. He asked her to show him how much she wanted to submit to him. Zach told Dana, "You want to do this for me. You want to hurt for me, to prove to both of us how much you belong to me." He continued his torment with a lube spiked with cinnamon and ginger oil...all for smarting off from being so wound up, from rejection and then pain, from heat and then passion. He rejects her and he causes pain to reunite. Sounds like love to me?!?!

Zach did not deserve Dana. Someone needed to use cinnamon and ginger oil on him! She obviously thought all her suffering, humiliation, and objectification was worth the "prize." Independence and individuality, freedom...is critical as we morph to develop ourselves. I wonder if Dana found or lost herself. Very interesting study of character. I continue to dislike Zach and the kind of male he represents. Candace Blevins knows how to crank the kink and emotion in order to transform logic into frenzy, to challenge thought and belief.

Dana and Zach start building their life together in this book. It all seems to be going well, really, too well. Little things crop up, and then a really big thing, that put some wrinkles into the mix. While trying to work out things together, they forgot a very important rule, you need to communicate to each other. All the time, about lots of things. See, they did talk about things, but they omitted some pretty basic items that make up their psyche. Lucky for them, they are not alone, as Brent and Jacob are in their corner

Realistic relationships, with real problems, and blending BDSM into your everyday life. This book brings a low angst, but emotional, look into starting over with someone new. Both Dana and Zach had found their happy ever after and lost it unexpectedly. Their new relationship is different from the one they had before, but they bring everything they had from it. They have grown and are different people, but they still carry those experiences. Brent and Jacob are also part of this new relationship, so everything is magnified times 4. Yet, they are all willing to make this work, and having those extra perceptions, only help in the long run. This was an amazing read!

Dana summarizes it pretty clearly "Garnet was her past, but Zach and Jacob were her future — both fulfilling a need, and both as important to her as breathing"

I don't know in enjoyed is the right word for how I felt about this book by Ms. Blevins. I love that Ms. Blevins allowed us to see how Zach and Dana navigated not only their budding relationship but also the addition of Brent and Jacob to their lives. These story is intense. Not only is the relationship based on a strong d's relationship it touches on pain in a way that on the outside seems extreme but fits not only what Dana needs but also in unmet desire in Zach. I love that Ms. Blevins delved so deeply into their world for us. I love that she also focused on the relationship outside their sexual relations. Both Dana and Zach were dealing with emotional bombs that blew up in unexpected ways. I love that they had friends like Brent and Jacob that were willing to help them save what they were building. I love that Ms. Blevins showed that making a relationship work requires work and it could and should be uncomfortable. The journey Zach and Dana were making was intensely personal and loving. I found myself squirming for numerous reason not all of them sexual. Ms. Blevins gave me a book that looked into a world for me that wasn't always comfortable but it felt real and loving. I can see myself needing to return to Zach and Dana's world and the emotions they garnered in my again in the future. And for that I thank Ms. Blevins.

this book ... I thought I was used to by now by the writing ways of Mrs. Blevins, but this book took me for a emotional and sizzling hot ride that I still have not recovered.
it goes to show you are never in for a smooth sailing - because real life is everything but smooth sailing, and this book proves it.
The story of Dana and Zach (now added into the combo are Brent and Jacob) continues to spiral and evolve and I am in a love/hate relationship with it (like more then 50% of the book I want to shake them both silly - even spank them) but *spoiler* HEA is a soothing balm to it all.
In one of the posts on FB Candace said that there was no genre in the book community for these type of books, so imagine little virgin me reading these Safeword series from the beginning :D - I can still feel the blush (and I am blushing again on that behalf hihihi). but even after years of reading into BDSM, it remains, Mrs Candace can still shock me, surprise me, make me google stuff, and on top of it all, make me blush just reading her scenes. OMG !!!!! she is .... just ... I can't ... you have to read it, then get back to me on this part.

I advise you to read this book, but be ready for a roller coaster ride cause, Candace is in a mood and she is bringing her best game forward !!!!

This is book four is the Safewords series and book two for Dana and Zach. Zach and Dana get deeper in their relationship she is moving into his house and the two have agreed that she can continue to see Jacob. Let me start by saying this book was hot I mean a lot of kinky things in it. She also finds herself falling in love with Jacob as well. Jacob is Brent's full-time Submissive and is also bi-sexual. Brent and Zach are there to watch and supervise but the connection between the two of them is. Zach and Brent become friends, trying to find a way for everyone to have who and what they want/need in their relationships. Zach learns to yield a whip to give Dana what she needs. Brent alters his contract with Jacob to allow Dana to Top him. This book was a lot more intense than the last book although at times I felt bad for Dana and Jacob with the whole withholding orgasms thing. I also felt bad when Zach and Dana briefly broke up and I liked how Brent helped them get back together. This was a really good book the book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. If you like reading about hot intense BDSM than I recommend that you read this series.

Enjoyed this one as much as "Safeword Davenport". Having just finished it, I was about to say the first one was kinkier and this one was more about relationship drama, but I realized I mis-remembered where the break between the books was. This was plenty kinky.

The stuffing games with the chain, very hot. And Dana got to try out the fun side of electric play. Well, first Dana, then Dana and Jacob in tandem.

Love how the foursome came together. Their evolving dynamics was a pleasure to witness. And it was a beautiful ending. Although, I'm a bit sad that the rest of the series focuses on other characters. I'd like to stick with these four for awhile longer.

Despite being a rather kinky minded individual, I'm not in a relationship at the moment, kinky or otherwise. It occurred to me flipping back through the book to write this review. How freeing it would be if we could all be punished to the extent that we let go of our transgressions. I have a few regrets that could use a thorough cleansing ... purging.

This was not a satisfying conclusion for me. Safewords Davenport and Chiffon take everything I liked about Safeword Davenport and makes it miserable.
In the first book, I enjoyed Dana and Zach negotiating their power exchange. Discovering and testing their limits. In Chiffon, it got boring. They over-analyze and negotiate their relationship to death. It felt like there were numerous written contracts and agreements constantly being hammered out. I'm sure that is how some "real life" TPE relationships are built, but for fiction it's freakin boring.
There also seemed to be an over abundance of TELLING instead of showing, especially towards the end of the book. There were even parts where the point of view seemed to shift to 3rd person omniscient which was very strange and distracting.
Towards the end this seems to get a little over-the-top and rambling. I kept thinking "isn't this book over with yet?" Not a good feeling.
I usually love Candace Blevins' so this was disappointing.

While the first book was Dana's story and the budding romance between her and Zach, this one is the full flower including Jacob and Brent. While I loved getting to see the development of their personalities and the interactions between them, it was my attachment to and investment in their story that satisfied me more. I was drawn into the passion of the story and it was full steam ahead.
Then it was down the rabbit hole with enough kink with lots of sadism and masochism to satisfy the mjaority of hardcore enthusiasts, possibly beyond the comfort level of some readers.
Ms. Blevins took this opportunity to develop some unique situations of true power exchange and then layered it with emotion after emotion. I am so glad she wrote this book to give us more of the story.
I loved not just reading it but feeling it as well. Congrats on another great book!
I received this ARC in return for an honest review not necessarily a positive one.

Candace, wow and that doesn't even begin to define this second edition to the Safeword Davenport books. I'm not even sure what had to be "fixed" from the original one but omg.

You start this book and are so into it when its done you're like Nooo. We all thank the book gods for a happy ending, but to get happy you must get through the sad. I was never sure how good it would be for two emotionally taxed people to get involved. Zach and Dana just wow. Um, a lot can be said about communication it's free and not used as much as it should be.

Each layer that Candace wrote then stripped left you feeling invested *nods* the heartbreak so keen you were right there. Because see we all handle our past perfectly. Not.

I loved the BDSM scenes they were well written and oh my so intense, just when you think enough is enough that line is pushed again. Dana and Zach earned this happy end. Enjoy

Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon is the latest in the "Safewords" series by Candace Blevins and the second part of the story which began in Safewords: Davenport.

Candace Blevins writes books that are pretty much beyond my comfort zone in terms of BDSM activities - these books are not for the faint of heart, and each book ramped up my discomfort. That being said, I kept reading and enjoying them because her characters, and their relationships, fascinated me, even while their activities totally sqweed me out.

So- read the descriptions, know what to expect...then realize it's more than the words prepare you for...but there's love and truth in each of these stories and though I squirmed all the way through them, I'll be looking forward to the next one-

A continuation of Dana and Zach's story, now focusing more on their mutual needs and the building of their relationship than just on Dana's issues as in Book 4. An insightful look at the issues that persist when two people are in love but must still deal with the death of deeply loved spouse and facing the future with a new love. Deeply involved in the BDSM lifestyle, this is filled with that kind of power exchange and those who are offended by that will probably not like this series. But for these two it is a matter of finding their stride as well as some unexpected but eventually welcomed expansion to their relationship as it involves others who become deeply important to them. An excellent novel and terrific read.

Omg. I loved most of the book. I'm not a sadist, masochist, sub or Domme but I did enjoy most if not all of the scenes. Absolutely loved Dana & Jacob dynamic. Life is unexpected and you never know if, when or who you will fall in love with. 1 of the main things I loved was it was 4 ppl trying to figure out how to make this unconventional BDSM relationship work between Dana being submissive to Zach as well as Domme to Jacob when Jacob is also submissive to Brent. Wow what a mouthful.

Some scenes where very intense and painful but it wasn't for abusive and it cemented their relationship deeper. I could say so much more but I'm still digesting and don't want to spoil anything.
