Re read this book and got so much more information now that I’m actually teaching in a class room. Some mind blowing teaching tips in here as well as a healthy dose of general teaching philosophy. Green really sends the point home that it takes a village to teach a band effectively. You have to be able to ask for help and take information from anywhere you can get it. This book has so many highlight-able moments that nearly every other page has a little annotation tab that I put in so I can come back to it later. So good! A must read!

A good, comprehensive guide. Helpful as a new teacher, however it's starting to become dated in some areas (naturally of course). I do also wish the chapter on administrative duties was a bit more detailed as that is what I struggle the most with myself. Though this isn't a general teaching method book, there are administrative duties specific to band that I feel could have used more attention.

Overall though, the instrument method section was extremely helpful and good knowledge that I will hopefully be putting to work in my band.

This book has helped me so much as a beginning band director! I loved the insight and the ideas that were presented. After reading a couple of pages, you get inspired to try it with your class and it’s really great to see the results. Highly recommend this book! Thanks to my cooperating teacher from student teaching for giving this one to me!

Outstanding book that outlines the pedagogical philosophy of one of the most influential music educators of all time. Ranging from an insightful interview with Eddie Green to specific techniques recommended for teaching each instrument, this information is dense to say the least. Also, the book contains plenty of information on the administrative side of a band program. I highly recommend it; I know I will continually reference this book throughout my career.
