It was supposed to be just a hike, hntil it turned into a life-altering event. The forest can be a lovely place to hike. Angel loved her life albeit she had been through so much in the last four decades. It was early morning as she went out for her hike in the forest. After, dropping her two teenagers off at high school and waving goodbye. That day seemed different, the sky was gray with a few peeks of the sun through the trees. The serious nature of what happened next will turn her world into a mystery and set in a motion very odd events.
If you are sometimes kept in awe of how an individual helps others, it might be because that person was destined to do so. Is it not?
Feels like a good old story-telling; fast-paced plot, family, loss, suspense, round characters, multiple twists, and a surprising ending. The story starts with the loss of Angel’s husband, Michael, and soon we come to know much about these two characters through a bright skill of writing. Troubled childhood was a key to understanding their personality and destiny.
Above all, an underlying narrative: the challenging situations Angel was facing while being lost in the wild woods as a metaphor for her losing her husband and raising her family by herself, yet being resilient can brighten the future, tremendously.
A Grave with No Name takes the “strong woman” trope a step further. Angel has had her challenges – that of being a young widow and having to raise her family alone. She’s done this and now her children are in high school. She enjoys hiking and being alone in nature, but on a hike after her children are in school she becomes injured and unable to signal for help. She realizes she must count on others – not just her own strength to save her. She doesn’t lose hope and as a peculiar destiny unfolds the short little one-sitting read reaches a conclusion. Well worth a read!
The character Angel Heard has had to deal with so much, the reward? She wonders. I loved this little book. The story line is beautiful yet dangerous. Kudos to the authors. He worked his magic again.
