Against the Wall #2

Between the Sheets

Rate this book
The passion between Mel and Ty is undeniable. But do they have the love to go the distance?

Melissa Cruz has been in love with her best friend's sexgod of an older brother since ... well, since forever. She let Tyler slip away in the past, but this time she is determined to have a second chance at love, even if that means packing up and leaving her family and best friend behind.

Tyler Gelson has admired his little sister's spitfire of a friend since the day he met her. Over the years, that little girl has turned into one hell of a hot woman and he has definitely taken notice. The love he feels for her has him making some tough decisions. Ones that involve leaving his dream job and moving back home for good.

When unexpected news comes their way, will Mel and Ty let the distance wreck their second chance at happiness? Or will these soul mates prove that the love they share is more than what happens Between The Sheets?

(Although, that's pretty damn good too.)

I'm a mom, a wife, a teacher, a reader, and a writer. I'm also an lunatic when it comes to the NFL and playing Fantasy football, especially if I don't get my first pick quarterback: Tony Romo. When I'm not at home or work, you can probably catch me on the 15 freeway singing my heart out and dancing away in my car.

Melissa is by far my favorite character in the Against The Wall series, after what happened with her ex husband I wanted nothing more than for her to get her Happily Ever After. The fact that she is HILARIOUS made me love her so much more!

"When I was with Nick, I thought I was gonna have to go to the doctor to get treated for tennis elbow because that guy wanted me to jack him off every five seconds and then he'd have the nerve to kiss me goodnight and fall asleep"

Lmao!!! She's the best!

Melissa was such a tough cookie in Against The Wall, it was great to see her soften up a little bit in this book because Ty was able to bring it out of her:)

So, I am just a quick roll in the sheets? You're not interested in making this something more?

The smokin' hot bedroom scenes in this book more than made up for the abstinence in Against the Wall. I was really rooting for Mel and Ty, it must be torturous to finally find the man for you and live hours away from him. I really wanted these two to get it right, my girl Mel deserves it! I don't want to spoil anything and elaborate more about story plot, but this was an awesome read.

Julie uses terms like "Ear Hustling" (had to look it up on Urban Dictionary) and references rap songs, and I think its so cool! I read some books and have to constantly wonder what year the main characters live in.... because no one speaks like that in 2013. I love these books! Easy reads, very entertaining.... But as much as I want to see more of Shelly and Melissa, I don't really care for Summer.... I will still read it, rolling my eyes the whole time! WORD! LOL!

I don't think I can ever love anyone more than I love Tyler. I've loved him almost my entire life.

I have enjoyed Against the Wall and I was looking forward in reading Between the Sheets. (I just love the titles. Found it quite interesting.)

some_text

One thing I like about these two ladies is the friendship that they have shared. They are intensely loyal to each other and they love one another a lot. Since Shel has already her very own happy ending - I think Melissa deserved one too.

If only Ty would consider coming back home.

Ty, Shelly's brother, was the love of her life ever since she was a kid. But unlike any other girls - she made her move. Just some move - less words - which causes all the problems in this book. He's swoon-worthy handsome, teaches art a 9-hours away from home and volunteers in a shelter. He loved his work so much that he couldn't stay long, even for Melly Belly.

Now here comes Melissa or Melly Belly to both Shelly and Ty. She's just wonderful and loves wine rather than beer. She couldn't leave her work behind for Ty, this was her home - her whole family and Shel is here. The unexpected happened and Mel found herself in a big ball of confusion.

Who's ready to compromise? The two of them are perfect for each other and have obviously loved each other since way back when. But with no one giving up jobs or homes, both may loose what is more important to the both of them. If only the two of them would sit down in an open-honest conversation, it would have save a lot of time in dealing with their problems.

More than just the hot steamy scenes that would make any girl swoon with envy, Between the Sheets is a story of love, compromise and an open communication to make a relationship - whether long distance or not - to last.

I was lucky enough to get to read this early and all I can say is that Julie has done it again! This is a great follow up to Against The Wall and everything that we all loved about the first book in this series, is present in Between The Sheets as well.

I love the relationship that Melissa and Tyler have, but throw in there the friendship that Melissa has with Shelley, who also happens to be Ty's sister and it makes for some very entertaining reading. Oh and never fear, Matty is along for the ride too!

Once again Julie has given us a fun, flirty story that will keep the reader engaged from beginning to end.

I look forward to whatever journey Julie chooses to take us all on next!

Can you say Awwwww!
I thought Matt and Shell's story was cute and this one couldn't possibly be better, Yeah I was wrong.
Again I loved the dialogue, heehee I thought I was the only one with potty mouth these days (I think some people think I may have Tourettes :) lol ) albeit fictional characters.
Again it was refreshing that the characters were almost everyday normal persons, not a just a fresh out of college girl and a rich guy, yes I've read 50 and I loved it but there's way too much books out there like it now. Also it was great to see some characters in my age group.
Another great love story! Good Job on both books I will be rereading both and both will be placed on my Favs!

Loved this book. If you have not read Against the Wall, make sure to read that one first. This is the second book. Melly Belly and Shelly are back and just as funny as ever, and cannot forget their loveable and hot men. Matty and TY.

This is the story of Melly Belly and Ty. They are hot and so adorable and funny together. Mel has been in love with her best friend's brother Ty for as long as she can remember. He has always been the love of her life, she just never thought he felt the same way. Ty has always been in love with Mel and let her get away years ago and isn't about to let that happen again.

They are in love and the passion between the two of them is undeniable. but their biggest obstacle is distance. Ty lives 9 hours away. and has a life and career that he loves, and Mel cannot ask him
to leave it all for her. She wants him to leave because he wants to and not because she asks. Mel doesn't want to leave her family to move with him. so where does that leave them? can their love get them through it, can they have their chance at love and make it work.

Their story is told in Mel's POV and Shelly had a few chapter of her own in her POV. I love that the author continued Shelly and Matty's story. love seeing couples after the HEA. And just like Against the Wall Julie Prestsater did a wonderful job with the epilogue.

After watching her best friend Shelly get married to her Prince Charming, Matty, Mel starts thinking what the future holds for her and her new man, Ty (who just happens to be Shelly's older brother). Mel & Ty's love story started when they were young with countless flirtatious encounters, but for whatever reasons, the timing was never right. Now that Mel is divorced & Ty is single, they have the opportunity to see what develops between them, but unless they learn to communicate, there relationship will be doomed before it even starts.

I’m just going to say it again, I love this author. I know I’m biased because her books take place in a public school and I work in a public school, but the thing is she “gets it.” She absolutely understands the ins and outs of working in a school; the need to be an adult once the bell rings, the need to act crazy because you are “on” all day, the need to be there for your students always, and the need to enjoy your time off to relax and recharge.

We met Melanie and Tyler in the previous book Against The Wall. We know they have a history dating back to childhood and more recently they’ve discovered each other as adults in all ways. Melanie is coming off of a divorce and Tyler is more than happy to be the one she turned to. From the beginning it’s obvious that these to have something special but they seriously lack the communication skills to let the other one know. I find it interesting that two educators who probably preach daily to their students about effective communication can’t seem to figure this out as adults, but I also understand it. Neither one wants to put pressure on the other one.

On paper they seem like complete opposites, Mel being the in your face, over the top, loud Latina princess and Tyler being the shy, quiet artist. But somehow together they work and the work very well. Their chemistry is off the charts hot and they have no problem communicating on a physical level! I also love that we get to see a lot of Shelly and Matt from the first book which is to be expected since Shelly is Mel’s best friend and Tyler’s sister. It’s nice to see the newlyweds happy and planning a family.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and despite the fact that Melanie made a pretty big mistake and another really bad assumption, I like her. She’s sassy, smart and fun. Tyler is a great guy but he also seems to talk without thinking at times. To be fair though, he didn’t know he was sticking his foot in his mouth on several occasions so it’s easy to overlook that issue. The main thing about Tyler is despite everything he loves Melanie enough to overlook her poor choices.

Between The Sheets is an incredible follow up to Against The Wall. It’s really hard not to like this crazy group of characters and get caught up in their trials and tribulations as they work through the changes in their relationships and their lives. There’s realness to Julie’s writing that makes you stand up and take notice. With crazy and loveable characters, a realistic plot, impressive love scenes, and dialog that is hilarious one minute and heart-breaking the next, Between The Sheets is an absolute must for anyone who enjoys a great love story.

Melissa Cruz, the spitfire Literature teacher, best friends with Shelly Gelson. The comedian and tell it how it is Latina bombshell.

Tyler Gelson, the sexy art teacher and brother to Shelly.

This story starts out with Shelly and Matt's wedding, and a reunion with Mel and Ty. They have grown up together being that Mel is best friends with Ty's baby sister. She has always been in love with him, he has secretly always been in love with her. In the last book they spent winter break with one another and in the start of this book we learn what happened since. They have stayed in touch with each other just the same if not more than before. As this book goes on you get to watch as the two fall in love all over again and let it out of the bag how they really feel. Something unexpected happens and pushes the two apart, but brings them even closer together after all is said and done.

Not only do we get to follow in a journey of love and hot passion with Mel and Ty, we also get to have a little back story on Shelly and now husband Matt. This is perfect for this book because you get to see both sides with the women and their humor and feelings about everything going on.

Between the Sheets follows the first book in this series with the humor that can keep anyone laughing so much it hurts. Some of the humor is subtle but just as great. The story line is steady but very interesting all the same. I personally loved this book and will read it again!

Between The Sheets (Against the Wall #2)

This is the story of Mel and Ty and how they find their happy ever after.

Mel is Shelley's best friends from book 1 Against the Wall. The story is still quite romantic and Mel is hilarious.

I will say that what I loved most about this series is how Julie keeps you updated on What is going on with Shelley and Matt.

She gives them their own chapter like the are also part of the story.

This series is definitely one of the and well written series I have read.

Julie Prestsater has down an outstanding job of bringing everyone together from both books and I loved it.

So yes read Mel and Ty's story and you will see what I mean.

I couldn't stop reading this series and read all three books in one day. As we all know that what Sundays are for.

The second book in the 'Against The Wall' duo is, in my opinion, even better than the first. I loved how strong Ty and Mel pretended to be, all the while hiding gooey, insecure underbellies, just like the rest of us! They were both so sure of their feelings for each other but, the second they stopped communicating, they both fell apart. My heart ached for Mel and I actually shed a few tears at her hopeless insecurities. I won't spoil the outcome, or why she was feeling hopeless but, let's just say that, sometimes, not telling what's on your mind is a lot worse than just getting it over with.

Sweet, sexy story with wonderfully funny characters that you wish were real so you could be best friends with them, too.

I love this 2nd instalment of this series, it is a quick and funny read. There is no real angst moments just the usual misunderstanding that happens in most books to create drama, Overall, it was a good read.

The stories do not really delve in the nitty gritty details of the characters lives or history. Everything is pretty much now, and in the moment. There is no dark deep secret from each other past to get the blood going. More or less it focuses the relationship of the characters. I like that in a book (sometimes...) it works here. The characters are nice, and kind people in general. Sometimes it is good read about something that is NICE and you don't want to claw the eyes out of the main characters.

I am looking forward the next instalment for a good sunday rainy afternoon read.

Mel and Ty's story was a good continuation of the previous book. I liked how Matt and Shel where very much a part of this book and it just continued their relationship and what was next for them. I loved how everything was wrapped up and the last part of the book was very good didn't want to put it down. I will say that around the middle it did drag a little but really picks up. I love the humor in this book and I had many laugh out loud moments. I love the relationship between Mel and Shel so much, everybody wants a BFF like that. I will defineately read more from this author and I would recommend these books to anyone. It was a good mix of humor and goos storyline. It doesn't have lots of explicit scenes but it truly doesn't need it. Enjoyed the series very much.

This is book #2 of the Against the Wall series. I would recommend reading Against the Wall first.

In this story, Melly Belly (the best friend from book 1) and Tyler (the brother of the best friend from book 1) "rediscover" each other after Mel's tightly-wound-lawyer-husband is found wrapped around a co-worker.

Biggest problem? Tyler lives nine hours away. If it was me, I would just move to San Fran to be with him, but Mel wants to stay in Southern California. When Mel ends up pregnant (and who does not notice they are pregnant for over three months), she is afraid to tell Ty because he has said that he is not ready for kids.

I know, you have read this troupe before, but this book was well written and enjoyable. I would highly recommend it.

What a fun, enjoyable read about finally getting what you want after years of denying yourself. I read it in one sitting which was easy to do. Prestater brought a magic to Ty and Mel that you only got to see a brief glimpse of Matt and Shelly's story. Watching these two characters come to life and fall in love all over again was a beautiful journey that I didn't want to end. It was sweet and sexy and funny and showed how a good friendship is the perfect base for an even better relationship. Bravo to Prestater for using her wit and charm on these characters. I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us.

Was so glad to hear that there would be a story on Mel and Ty. I fell in love with both of these characters in Against the Wall. I think that I might like them a little bit more then Matt and Shelly. Loved their backstory to the point would like to see them with Shelly as teenagers in that high school think that it would be hilarious. I did read the last Double Threat book before this and really did not think that the little spoiler in that one took away from this book. I read this book to a point all in one day. Helps that I work nights and when I get home and can't sleep I just stay in bed and read. But would of read it all in one day if that was not the case.

Spent a cozy afternoon reading this-I've been looking forward to it since Against The Wall, and it didn't disappoint... There was parts where I was frustrated with Mel and Tys lack of communication but I was really happy with the ending..coz in a sucker for a happy end.
Also, the humor was fab,had me laughing out loud in parts.
I've heard there will be a book 3 about Summer? I'm not so sure about that...I don't like her!

This was the perfect sequel. It had so much of Ty and Mel intertwined with just enough Shelly and Matty to see the love and friendship in these couples. Mel and Ty's story is very touching. Mel is hilarious and found myself laughing even more reading this book than the first. I am not anxious to read about Summer or Chase, but if they are getting a story I hope there is still lots of Shelly/Matty and Ty/Mel in their story.

3.75 stars. Bk 2 is still as cute...Shelly/Melanie the BFF's are still just as funny, snarky and fun. This time it's all about Mel with Shelly's bro Ty. Ty is extremely sweet, very sexy and he and Mel are so darn cute together. The ups and downs of their romance and an awwwww sweet HEA. Shel/Matt from bk 1 are also along for the ride. Fun read that still nudges chick lit just a bit with the underlying heart of the story being about the two best friend’s relationship.

Ty and Mel's relationship was fun to read since they have a history from childhood. The long distance building of their relationship made for note resign situations and a few heart dropping moments. Julie has a great sense of humor and has a uncanny ability at weaving it into the story at the perfect time! Looking forward to what is next...sort of...how to tell the story of the woman I grew to dislike from the past. This should be interesting!

Hahaha. Now that was a very funny and witty read. And definitely sexy as hell. It was freaking hilarious.

I loved Mel. I loved her more this time. And Shel just completed the scene. The girls pictured friendship in one of most unique ways. And it was very adorable.

Tyler and Matt, is hotness overloaded. I almost drooled. Almost. Oh and did I mention that they are very, very sexy? Lol. That was like a bonus.

Altogether it was a light hearted read and I enjoyed it immensely. 4 stars.

Loved this! I loved Matt and Shelly's story in Against the Wall and couldn't wait to see what would happen with Mel and Ty. I was not disappointed. Mel and Ty are sexy and sweet. They've loved each other forever but could never get right. But get it right they did. I love happy endings, and even happier epilogues :)

Loved this follow up to Against the Wall!! It was great to read Melissa's POV but also get back to Shelly's POV every once in a while too! That was something different that I loved about this book! Most of the time the main character just makes fleeting appearances throughout the next book! I loved Mel's sense of humor and the girls gangsta talk!! Fun read! Very much recommended!!! =)
