Contains: Explicit language, graphic, really hot sex that tries to be vanilla and goes kinky, role play, anal sex, very light BDSM, light bondage, horses, a card shark spy hero and his twisted and wild heroine.
Mia Downing started creating heroes at age four, but her heroes back then rode ponies to the rescue and only kissed her on the cheek. Today, Mia’s heroes still rescue those in need, but the price of their toys and the expertise of their seduction leads to a whole lot more.
When Mia isn’t busy creating new stories for her readers, she ensures justice runs smoothly in a New England courthouse. She lives on a small farm with her family, and enjoys horses and knitting.
Fun facts: Mia can juggle poorly, create balloon animals, and face paint. She was the hit entertainment of two family parties. No clown suits were involved.
Oh how I do love a feisty heroine - Mia Downing writes a great one!
Super spy and secret agent, Jake has met his match when he is paired up with his new partner, the spunky spy named Tia. He is certainly no stranger to what she has to offer - the last time he decided to sample her wares, he left her bound in a state of discontent and she has been itching to return the favor every since. Letting his guard down around Tia only for the briefest of moments proves to be his downfall and the beginning of complex relationship full of fireworks!
If you are looking for some smut-suspense with a great story, then you should definitely read LETHAL LIMITS - it will fulfill your need for the sexy spy world you crave.

After meeting Jake in Trained for Seduction, I was very excited to read his story in this book! I have to say, Jake did not disappoint!!!! In Lethal Limits, we get to fully know him, his past, and his relationship with his best friend and boss, Chase. I'm not going to give anything away, but I'll just say that Jake surprised me a few times throughout the story, and I found myself quickly becoming a member of the Team Jake fan club (don't tell Chase!!)!
We also get to know Tia as she and Jake begin to tread the fine line that divides co-workers and lovers. What makes this road even more rocky is the fact that they are both spies, whose lives will depend on each other. Add in the fact that they both bring a complicated past to the table, and you are left with two people who fight their true feelings every chance they get! However (and thank goodness!!), they can't deny their attraction to each other, and things begin to get hot and heavy in a way that will have you melting in your chair!!! I felt like a teenager again, experiencing love and passion and sex and all that good stuff for the first time!!! It really takes you there!
Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone story. However, I highly recommend you read them all, and in order! You won't be left in the dark if you don't, but I personally liked reading Lethal Limits after getting to know Jake in the first book, Trained For Seduction. What I came to discover and know about Jake in this book was that much more enhanced by what I THOUGHT I knew about him when reading the first book. Either way, I repeat my initial sentiment when saying, Jake does not disappoint!!! I can't wait to see what happens next in this sexy spy series!!!
I have found a new series to love and it’s Spy Games! Mia Downing has created a wonderful series that keeps me enthralled from the first sentence. I’m so hooked on these characters that I can’t wait for the next one!
Jake is the perfect man-whore. Love ‘em and leave ‘em. Satisfied. He doesn’t go to the same woman twice, then he meets Tia. He stays faithful to Tia even though they’re not exclusive. Unless of course it’s with Kate and Chase.
Kate realizes Jake is in love with her, so she tells him no contact until he’s found his own woman. Jake takes off for a long weekend and takes Tia with him. Let the f**ked up rules begin.
I loved Jake and Tia’s story. Tia is so messed up from her upbringing and she won’t let anyone in. She’s a total masochist, she wants pain because she thinks that’s all she deserves. Jake sets out to prove there are different kinds of pain and some of them are good.
During the long weekend, they fall in love. But Tia doesn’t believe she deserves love, so she runs, just like always.
This was a wonderful story and I loved so many things about it. I love Jake. I’m totally Team Jake and Chase can shove it (for now!). We get more on Kate and Chase in this book (their story is book 1), and it just makes me want to read more about them. Tia is one kickass heroine. She’s scarred, scared, and tough as nails. Jake is so good for her and she is so good for him. He makes her want to be loved and she makes him a better man. A good man.
I really like the ending and how it relates back to the first story. I’m so happy this story tied into the first story. I like the consistency through the series I read. I like them to be intertwined.
I didn’t have as much of an emotional charge out of this book as I did the first one. I think that’s because Tia kept looking for trouble and reasons to run.
I’m very excited about Charlotte’s story being next. There has been so much hinted at regarding her story, that I’m dying to know what happened to her.
For now though: TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!! TEAM JAKE!!
I truly adored the first book in this series, and felt very emotionally invested in Kate and Chase's story, but this one made me feel even more. For me, it felt like i was watching Mia spin a web, thread by thread- threads of love, obligation, guilt, lust, and jealousy, between the characters, past to present, present to future. Threads that got impossibly tangled - stretched - even broken. I felt like I was walking along those threads - feeling them shake and strain under the pressure. Watching the dance of self discovery for Jake and Tia was painful and joyful all at the same time. Seeing Chase and Kate in their own very real battles added to the cluster of overwhelming feelings. Seeing them all work out their connections to each other was amazing - like watching a birth. I don't know if I can truly describe how much I was touch by this story. I feel rung out - and anxious to know how Charlottes story will go. I'd give this 10 stars if I could.
Holy smokes batman this was freaking awesome! Total erotic overload but in a good way. Tia broke my heart so many times. This girls issues had issues. Jake was a total stud and self proclaimed man whore. He was so damn sweet and wanted so badly to help heal Tia. This book opens up with Jake being in love with his best friends wife and partner. Yep not good not good at all. And so he needs to get his head on straight and maybe find a way to get over Kate. Enter Tia and Jake spending the weekend together and what do you get? A whole lotta sexy time and some serious sex play. Jake loves to use his Dom voice on her. But this wasn't just about sex it was about Jake and Tia healing their old wounds. The way he made her open up and talk about the past, wow. I did not read book one but now I am dying too. Because Chase and Kate have me dying for their story.
Book #2 in the Spy Games series. You definitely should read these books in order..
As much as I liked book #1(Trained for Seduction), I might have liked this one more. This is Jake Anderson's story. Jake is Chase's best friend, Kate's partner and and International Spy. This book begins with Jake discovering that he can no longer hide his true feelings for Kate. He is in love with her, and although he loves Chase as much as he does his brother, he covets his wife. Of course, can you blame him? Chase has "shared" Kate with him a couple of times now, right?
While on a mission in Paris, Kate realizes Jake's feelings have crossed the "friendship" line, and as much as she loves him, there is no way she will betray the love of her life Chase, so Kate pushed Jake away. She tells him he needs to find his own woman and give his love to her because her heart will always belong to Chase. A heartbroken Jake runs to his ranch in Virginia with his new partner Tia in hand.
Tia is Kate's replacement and Jake's new partner. Neither Jake nor Tia seem to be very happy about the discovery of being thrown together as partners. Tia and Jake are definitely not strangers though. They have "played" together on numerous occasions at their BDSM club. Tia is battling some very deep demons and her weapon of choice is self inflicted pain. Tia also recognizes Jake is in love with his previous partner and she won't accept being Jake's second choice.
At the ranch, Jake and Tia agree on a truce and soon discover they are very good for each other, and not just in the bedroom. However, Tia's demon raises it's head and Jake finds he will be in the fight of his life to get the beautiful Tia to trust him while trying to push his feelings for Kate out of his heart.
This book has it all. Great characters that were easy for me to care about. Alpha men that I lusted after. Mystery, angst, heartache, romance, steamy sex scenes. My only complaint is I kind of wanted Kate to keep both men. I liked Tia. I certainly felt sorry for her, but I also liked the fact that Kate was loved by both Chase and Jake. Hmmm.... Maybe I just imagined I was Kate and wanted both hot sexy men for myself (who knows?).
Great book that I recommend would be a good choice for anyone that likes erotica with a good storyline, hot alpha men you can't help but fall in love with, and steamy love scenes.
When Tia and Jake are forced to be partners Jake sees Tia in a different light. After a weekend spent at his home, he uncovers some very real and very deep feelings. He thought he knew what love was, he thought he knew what he wanted in his life, he thought he had all the answers. He was wrong. Tia allows him to see past the smoke and mirrors of his charade and uncover all his fears, desires and passions.
Trust, love, honesty, hatred, jealousy, heartbreak, lies, passion and desire, are the main ingredients in this novel. When all of these are stirred together, you are left with an emotional heart wrenching story that is guaranteed to consume your mind and your heart for a long time. Any story that has the ability to linger with me and keeps me thinking about it after I turn the last page is a guaranteed winner.
Jake and Tia burn up this pages in this intense erotic love story. Both spies, both Jake and Tia bring emotional baggage into their new partnership. When Jake attempts to escape his feelings for his boss's/best friend's wife, he takes Tia home to his ranch where they embark on a sexual and emotional journey.
Both Jake and Tia are emotionally flawed to a point where it is sad, yet you root for them to be together in the end. Jake is dominant while Tia is submissive yet she hasn't really submitted to her heart...to love. The sex is hot, intense, crazy....not sure how to even describe it. All I know is that I could not put this book down until I finished it.
My favorite story is one with a kick ass heroine and a tough, but vulnerable, hero. It's no wonder why I love this series and these characters.
This book was everything I hoped it to be, and more. Tia is a tough as nails heroine, with a soft and damaged core. Jake (oh, Jake...*swoon*) is just as tough, but lets his guard down for Tia. His vulnerability shines in this story and makes him even sexier and more lovable.
I'm really looking forward to Charlotte and Aaron's story - and reading even MORE from Mia Downing.
After Jake´s birthday and the menage he had with his parter and his best friend all he thinks about is the love he thinks he feels for his Kate who is married to his BFF/Boss Chase KA The Lord of the Spies LOL ... The story begins in Paris where Jake and Kate are on a mission that Chase sent them and they are at their hotel room playing married for their cover... Kate is throwing up in the toilet apparently because she is suffering from a stomach bug and Jake is so worried about her well being that threatens her to tell Chase about her illness and puts her in bed. He kisses her and she gets mad. He proclaims he loves her but she says he doesn't and that what he think he feels is wrong because her husband and him are best friends and that she is so good for his friend that he only wants the same thing for himself. Kate tells him he needs to go hook up with some old flame and see if things work out.
Tia is a spy from a different division than Jake´s and she is tailing him in Paris. She want Jake to finish what he started with her and that is giving her 2 amazing orgasms. She thinks she´s frigid and can´t get a proper orgasm from any guy and she was so so close last time they were together. Fist she sees him with a Blond woman "Blondie" (aka Kate, TNT) and then at the hotel bar with a girl that looks like a model with red hair "Ginger" (aka Charlotte, Dragon Queen) that feels him up but she know better and sees the gesture as a cover for both spies. In his way back to his room Tia ambushes him and takes him to her room even though she feels suspicious of his relationship with Blondie. She leaves him tied to the bed and calls Kate telling her, "her man" was tied to her bed and she needed to go pick him up. Kate clears the room sad Jake had a shitty night, covers his parts and takes a picture of him bound to a bed telling him Chase will love the picture. They come back to D.C. and she tells him he has to make things right and find a woman of his own.
Jake is summoned by the LOTS and tell him Kate is no longer talking to him and that he will get a new partner.. the reason he will get a new partner? .. Kate is pregnant… Why is she not talking to Chase the love of her life? … He micromanaged her life so much that he even planned her pregnancy and didn't give her the option to choose if she wanted to have child or not and he failed to tell her that she wasn't really wearing a contraception device as he had told her before. When Chase calls the new agent to get in his office Jake can't believe what his eyes see. Tia Richards, the woman he left at the club begging for him to make her come and the same woman that took her revenge and left him in a bed tied. Karma is a bitch, isn't she?!!! HE FUCKING HATES PARIS.!!! And Chase becomes suspicious of what happened back there. Jake asks him to give him a weekend vacation to go back home and he takes tia with him…
Keep reading to know the rest of the story…… I can only say I enjoyed this so much and can`t wait for Endgame with Charlotte (AKA Ginger, Dragon Queen, Lady Frost and Her Frostiness). She deserves to be with someone good that can help her put her past to rest. The spy language like LOTS (Lord of the Spies) or "The heir of the spydom" was so original and hilarious and how they describe Chase and make fun of him in his face and behind his back too.....
I didn't like Tia much. She is very insecure and has A LOT of self-esteem issues. Everything JAke does she thinks he is deceiving her or thinking of "Blondie", but whatever, it had a great ending, one I wasn't expecting and what I loved about this book so much was that we can keep tracking Chase´s and Kate´s life and how it develops. Mia Downing didn't disappoint.
"..but i fear the wrath of the Lord of the Spies..As should you..."
"... and Jake had the feeling this would be what facing the devil would be like when he finally went to hell, only hell would be a lot more pleasant."
"Do you want me to get lost?" "No. I want to you to arrive, safe and sound. And then we might have a chat, once you've had ten miles to think." Jake nodded and rose. Of course, Chase wanted him to arrive safe and sound. It was hard to kill someon who was already dead."
And the best....
"Tia, did you know my house was ten miles from here?" "No, sir." "I think you partner need to start running." Tia grinned at Jake, looking was too smug. Chase shook his head. "Not so fast. It´s your job to protect him. He's your partner, despite being a fuck-up. If you're going to toss him under the proverbial bus, then you're running, too." ... (Take that bitc"·&$)....
My Review: I absolutely love Jake, and have loved him from the very beginning of book #1 in this series, Spy Games: Trained in Seduction. It was set up way early that his feelings for Kate are bordering on problematic. The issue...she's his partner, but married to his best friend, whom he also loves dearly. After a birthday present that got to be a little too much (Spy Games #1.5: Birthday Games), Jake has suddenly found himself in love with Kate. A situation that has to be rectified immediately, because Chase will kill him for that, best friends or not. Kate's suggestion: fall in love with someone else. Not that easy since he truly doesn't normally develop feelings for the women he's involved with.
Enter Tia...the agent who has been occupying his thoughts almost as much as Kate since they hooked up a few months ago, but he kind of left her hanging so she's not his biggest fan. After a series of events though, Jake finds out that Tia is his new partner. It just happens to coincide with a time that he has to get away to home, so he takes Tia with him. This is an event that's never happened before. Jake doesn't take women to his home....ever.
Tia....how to explain her? She has a few issues that go way back into her psyche. She's learned to deal with her mental trauma through sexual games....extreme sexual games that almost killed her once. On the one hand, Tia is this extremely tough, cold agent...but on the other, she is this completely vulnerable hot mess of a person. Jake truly wants to love her, but she refuses to let him in. *sob*
This is where Mia excels at her story telling. Your heart just aches for Tia....and then it just aches more for Jake. These two characters are so perfect for each other because they understand the other's pain. Honestly, there are scenes in this book that just made me want to curl up and cry for the pain that these characters are feeling (OMG, the card-game scene), but that's what makes it so good!! There are lots of really hot sex scenes, but intermixed within them are the most heart-wrenching emotional moments that make your heart simply sigh with the beauty of them. Seriously, there is such a good balance in this series of both the sex and emotion.
As an aside, there was also a great sub-plot happening in the background of Jake and Tia's story. Chase did something really dumb, and Kate is NOT happy with him. I loved getting to see more of their story evolve and how their relationship continues to develop. I swear Kate just gets tougher and tougher. I love that kick-butt chick! And of course, Jake is best friends to both of them so he gets into the middle of it...something that is definitely causing problems for him and Tia and their fledgling relationship.
Another GREAT installment in this series that once again left me alternately crying, laughing, and searching out my husband. I adore Mia's writing ability and this book absolutely did not disappoint.
Jake from "Trained for Seduction" is back in his own story. Though he's still in love with Kate, his best friend's wife, he is matched professionally with Tia as her new partner. Tia's a tough cookie and has a past with Jake as they hooked up once and he left her bound and sexually unsatisfied. Tia figures a little turnabout is fair play. But Jake is the only man who's been able to satisfy her sexually. Before they embark on their mission, she agrees to spend a weekend with him.
During that time he really pushes her boundaries and she constantly reminds herself he's only using her to banish Kate from his mind. But Tia's falling for him and Jake starts to feel the same way about her.
Lots of hot sex in this one, and emotion, too. Tia's a kick-ass heroine but she has a lot of inner demons. She's a wounded character and her greatest fear is falling in love, getting close and getting hurt again. Jake doesn't realize that some of his "house rules" really push her buttons. He was a bit clueless at times which irked me. But he redeems himself when he realizes how he truly feels and goes all out, including risking his life, to prove how much he cares.
This book is an awesome addition to the series, especially for those of us who loved Jake from the first book and wanted to see him finally get his happy ending.
SIGH. {that is a sigh of contentment} This book delivers. A little bit of everything... danger, drama, excitement, suspense, heart musings, sweaty sexy stuff, pain, pleasure, trying to forget, learning to love... it's SO GOOD!!
The relationship between Jake and Mia is quite intense. It is filled with longing and questions. Turning to and running away from each other. They both have tremendous amounts of pain from the past that have been dictating how they live out their current lives and cope with that pain. I loved how they worked through it all and finally after facing all the ugly, found something beautiful. The whole trip to Jake's Virginia home was a perfect storyline. The horses. His tree. House Rules. and the "Marriage"... ah my heart squeezes alittle bit because the reader can clearly see how badly Tia needs to be there with him in that way. It was wonderful to see how Jake acknowledged his love for her first, and then convinced her that she should love him back by accepting what her heart was truly feeling.
The End. Everything was neatly wrapped up with big piece of bondage tape around the heart, surrounded by I love yous... SWOON.
Great series! How can you go wrong with romance, erotica, bdsm lite and spies! I eagerly await Charlotte's story. I wish the author would publish an estimated date of publication for that one!!
To say this book was an emotional roller coaster is putting it lightly. After reading this, I feel as though I have been through almost the entire amusement park. There is a lot of action and a lot of drama that bring to the surface a lot of feeling. It pulled me in from the very first chapter and held me captive the entire day.
After meeting Jake in book one I really liked him. He is funny and caring and the best friend a person could have. After really getting to know him in book two, I have completely fallen in love with him. I hate to say that characters are broken, I often times try to find a different word to describe them, but honestly nothing else seems to fit with Jake or with Tia. They have both had to overcome incredibly hard pasts, and it has left them both changed people. I think Tia more so than Jake. He just didn’t quite know how to handle the pain he was dished out at such a young age, but Tia just had a shitty life that left deep scars on her soul.
What Jake gives Tia at his home besides a lot of amazing sizzling orgasms is a challenge. He challenges her face her past demons. He challenges her to open herself up completely. He challenges her to accept love. Their journey into the past in not a pretty one, they both have a lot of obstacles standing in their way. They both have to learn to trust. They have to learn to believe. They have to learn to love unconditionally.
The supporting cast of secondary characters was amazing. We get quite a lot of action with Kate and Chase. They have their own set of issues they have to work through in this story. The balance between the two couples was well blended and mixed nicely with the story line.
This is a hot mess of two people with relationship issues. I wasn't sure how I was going to rate this book because 20% in, I thought Jake was crazy. I liked him in the first book. In this one, he came across a bit creepy emotional blackmailing abusive. It disturbed me in some ways because this is not a dark erotica. Instead, this is a romantic suspense with kink. Except the kink is really fucked up, borderline abusive.
From a BDSM perspective, I was not turned on at all. Instead, I felt sick to my stomach. The kink in here is used in unpleasant ways to get Jake what he wants from Tia. I felt badly for Tia the entire time. She was constantly being emotionally traumatized by Jake. It was not cathartic; it was barbaric. I wanted to beat on Jake for his insensitivity and his asshole selfishness.
This story is less about suspense and spy business. It is more about two people who have past issues they haven't come to terms with. Yes, Jake's painful moment in time was sad. Tia's childhood was terrible. There is no comparison. Sure Jake has lost, but really, he has it all whilst Tia has nothing. Tia doesn't even have a single family member to depend upon. Tia is vulnerable and Jake took advantage of it.
Ms. Downing created characters with depth. They have layers and their reactions (even if they are creepy) are plausible and realistic. I wanted to slam some sense into Jake. His metaphoric dagger stabbing into all the soft parts of Tia were unethical and amoral. The fact that he realizes he loves her doesn't really make it right for me. Using his "Dom" powers to get what he wants was even more heinous for me. Still, the story kept my attention and I was deeply vested to see what would happen. Predictably, Tia rolls over for Jake. I think one day, Jake will take it too far and irrevocably damage Tia. However, she chose to go with him so it is her life. Depressing how women go with what is not good for them.
I love Mia Downing!! Her books are amazing. Lethal Limits is book 2 in her series Spy Games and I loved it. I wondered how Jake was going to find love after the novella and this blew my expectations out of the water.
Jake is a spy who thinks he is in love with his best friend/ boss’s wife. Normally that is just bad but it gets worse because he was their third. Oh and there is the part where Chase is a god at sniping and he could kill him in a crowded room. To get his head on straight he goes home but there is a catch. Chase suspects something and makes him take his new partner Tia. Jake is a liar and charming which are perfect for spies but it makes it hard to make someone believe you. I like Jake but I think he should be a bit less impulsive.
Tia is tough and needs to be hurt otherwise she is numb. She pushes for all of Jake and once he gives it she wants to run away. She is good spy but her self esteem is extremely low. Her low part of her life almost caused her death because she was reckless and dangerous. That part of her is gone but she never could deal with why she went there.
Their journey is a bit bumpy and they have their issues but I cheered for them the whole time. Together they work through both of their problems and become whole again. I love a book that invokes a personal response from and this book did it on numerous accounts. I loved Tia and Jake. They weren’t perfect and made mistakes but it made them all the more real.
If you are into spy novels then I suggest you look up Mia Downing because she rocks!!

I chose this book because of the author. I have been a Mia Downing fan after I read her book Exceeding Boundaries which I enjoyed a whole lot. Spy Games: Lethal Limits is the second book in the Spy Games series by Mia Downing. While this book can be read as a standalone it does help to have read the first book in the series so you are not lost.
Jake is in love with his boss’s wife, Kate. He is forced to be Tia’s new partner. While he sees Tia in a new light, he still struggles with his emotions and feelings for both Kate and Tia. Jake is a strong and handsome man.
Tia is no shrinking violet. She stands her ground for what she believed in. Tia has to deal with issues of her own besides Jake’s. She battles her inner demons and has a bad habit of inflicting pain on herself.
The chemistry between Tia and Jake is off the charts. They brought the best in themselves out when they were together. They sex scenes were hot and steamy. This book is roller coaster of emotions.
I enjoyed the subplot between chase and Kate. It was nice to see them from the first book. I enjoyed that their story in this book did not overshadow the story line between Jake and Tia.
There is not much that could have made this story better. I do wish that Jake was not so confused. It would have made the story flow better. Overall, I cannot wait to read Charlotte’s story which is next up.
I didn't read the first book in this series because I didn't have it so I was a little lost at the beginning and there were situations that happened in book 1 that followed over.
This was way better than I expected. I don't read that much mf so it has to be good to catch and keep my interest and this did.
Jake was the third wheel in TIS Kate and Chase's relationship and he was starting to feel more for Kate and it scared him and Kate. He had had an ongoing f*** buddy relationship with a fellow spy prior to her transferring into his department and being assigned his partner. He decided to take Tia to his ranch in Virginia for a long weekend.
They fall in love, although I think they were working towards it prior as they had been exclusive even though they hadn't discussed it (except for mfm menages with Kate and Chase). Unfortunately, Tia didn't believe she deserved love so Jake had to fight it.
Like I said, this really knocked me off my feet and I really liked the story, humor: Lord of the Spies, lol, and the smexin'. I don't know if I want to read book 1 but I probably will eventually and Charlotte's story [Spy Games: Endgame - not released yet] intrigues me.
If you read the previous story you be glad to see that Jake gets his turn. This story had so much going on. Jake has to remove himself and take a breather from work because of his unrequited love for Kate. Being in love with his boss/best friends wife is not a good idea. On top of that he gets partnered with Tia, who has been on the back burner during this little emotional upheaval. Tia and Jake both have issues to get through and their time at his farm is a slightly romantic/love story. Just when you think it's so sweet something happens that just tears everything apart. You really feel for Tia and all the terrible things she went through. Jake really messed with her head and at times I wanted to punch him he was such a butt. She had a hard time trusting him and he really didn't deserve it. As Jake finagles his way into Tia's heart she tries to keep herself protected by treating Jake advances as work just to get it over with and then I can go home. Their time together ends on a sour note. It doesn't look good for Jake, Tia just can't trust him, he lies to much. Then there is the whole Kate drama and all that comes with it. Overall, I liked this a lot more than the previous story. Jake and Kate together was a nice love story, well it did get twisted up there but it had it's moments.
After reading book 1 in this series, I have to say that I couldn’t wait to get started on this one! Thankfully, I already had it loaded up on my kindle and ready to go. (And trust me, you will want to start this one right away!)
Jake has a strange… feel about him. Even in the previous book, I could tell that. But, on that note, I do want to say that while this is book 2 in the series, you can still read it as a standalone. There might be some confusion in the beginning, but you do get all the details of everything that happened in the previous book. But, back to Jake.
That man has some strange fetishes! Nothing to creepy or anything like that, but enough to make my eyebrows go up a bit. On that note though, the sex scenes? OFF THE HOOK!!! They sure did add to the story, and I will also say this, the sex scenes weren’t just filler. They added more to the story because Tia sure did have some breakthroughs in the after effects.
Even with the sex, there was still a ton of action and suspense that was keeping me turning the pages and wanting to find out what was going to happen next.
Overall, I must say that I completely enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for the next!

So my first thought on this book was: Why didn't I know there was a book BEFORE this one. Yes, I had no idea it is the second in a series. But, let me just say that while I was a little confused about a couple of points and characters, I was definitely intrigued by the story of Jake and Tia (Sarah).
Tia is one of the most infuriating women, but at the same time, I couldn't help but have a little empathy for her and cheer her on in her quest. And, even Jake and his smug-bastard attitude, well let's just say that this man needed to get his head on straight or have his best friend shove said head........... My point is, is that Jake FINALLY put the peices together! and, thank goodness for that one.
This emotionally painful and sensual story about two people who have been hurt in their pasts, is a must read. (Of course, I do recommend starting with the first one: Spy Games: Trained For Seduction).
3 stars. Not as good as the first one. Jake is hung up on Kate for a large proportion of this novel and the heroine in this one (Tia/Sarah) the replacement partner of Kate's, is seriously messed up psychologically, it is really hard to empathize with her psychopathology, and it made the romantic and erotic aspects of this story suffer. The biggest challenge to their relationship is the psychological and it just got frustrating because it didn't make sense to me and I could not understand her. She has a need for BDSM, and the hottest erotic scene is the first one and it isn't even consummated. The subsequent love scenes were just blah after that, IMO. I'm glad Jake finds his HEA however! I felt like there was a lot of rambling and even some dialogue that didn't follow or make sense. There were a few typos too, and this was a retail edition. A bit of a disappointment.
Jake is a lethal agent, with a untamed, kinky side. Tia is Jake's new partner, one that thinks she needs physical pain to camouflage her suffering. These characters have suffered incredibility and use barbwire barricades (yes, barricades, not fences) to protect their heart. What starts out as sexual desire develops into confessions and honesty. As their relationship progresses they experience oscillate levels of love/hate, trust/uncertainty and want/need.
...and I forgot to mention, Tia is a sassy spitfire!
An additional bonus for Spy Games: Trained for Seduction (book 1) readers; you will get to catch-up with Chase and Kate (however, this can be a standalone book if desired).
I really liked the first one in this series, and I liked this one a lot too. That Jake is something. Something hot. Seriously- Dom, sweet guy, horse lover, spy. What more could a girl want? I love all the spy stuff, and I like how the women in these books are total badasses in one way or another. I thought some of the house wedding stuff was a little hokey- but it all sort of worked. I'm excited to read Charlotte's story next.
This one was almost as good as the last Mia has a brilliant mind, one that takes a story and makes it more than just that. she weaves this beautiful story that takes you on a jounrey, to places unknown, for just that little while. but spices it up with lots or mind blowing sex. I couldn't put this book down. I wanted to go get me my very own Jake!!! and Tia so strong and sexy. Just an amazing, wonderful story. can't wait for the next one!
