Ria has spent the majority of her life on the run and especially since her mother was killed. Ria is the Nyx, the leader of her people, and one with a very special gift. Ria would love nothing more than to have the chance to be able to live a normal life and find someone to love, especially since her cousin and one of her royal guards recently mated to their one and only—something everyone hopes for. However, today, once again, Ria is on the run for her very life and praying for a miracle. Ria’s prayers seem to be answered when a ceiling tile suddenly opens up and a man she met months ago takes her to safety.

Jacob (“Jake”) is a human, but he knows all about the others who also live in his world. Jake is part of a family who have some very real and strong gifts; Jake’s is that of a seer. He has known for years that he would be meeting Ria and helping her somehow, and he has spent his entire adult life training in several ways to be ready when the time is right. Months ago, Jake actually introduced himself to Ria and then left again as the time wasn’t right yet. Now he knows that their time is here, and he is ready grab the future that has been teasing him for so long.

Ria isn’t sure about Jake at first. Yes, because her cousin mated with his sister, they are loosely connected, however, that does not mean she can trust him with all she is responsible for. But is doesn’t take long for Ria to see just how special Jake is and to figure out just what they could be together if given the chance. Jake is more than willing to risk his life to keep Ria safe, but he would prefer to take-out the danger surrounding Ria without losing his life. A powerful enemy to not only Ria, but all the shifters and Others, the Venifucus, is about to up the ante. Ria and Jake might not be able to totally disrupt the Venifucus’ plans, but they are both determined to take out the part that is threatening them right now. When the showdown happens, just who will come out on top, and will Jake and Ria finally have the chance to explore the love that sprang up between them?

When a determined man finally gets to be with the woman of his dreams, woe be to the people who try to harm her. Jake and Ria prove just how right this statement is in Jacob’s Ladder. I have to say that Jake definitely made an entrance when he finally came after Ria, and what timing! I also wondered at first, as did Ria, just what Jake could do as a human, even if he was a seer. But then I saw just how Jake had prepared himself for his life with Ria and what would be needed. I loved how it didn’t take long for Ria and Jake to become a strong and loving team and how others instantly accepted them both as a strong couple and leaders. Ria and Jake might have had a totally unusual and fast courtship, but that is one strong and loving couple in anyone’s eyes who follows their story. Jacob’s Ladder is fast-paced and full of suspense and danger, yet there is a wonderful overlay of passion and friendship, which kept me turning the pages as fast as possible.

“You make me feel like a superhero, Ria”

String of Fate Series by Bianca D’Arc newest release Book #3 Jacob’s Ladder

I’m so glad I picked up this series with a little help of Bianca. It seems with every book I read of hers my reaction is the same “WOW” they are amazing, and this one’s no different. Her story line is so intriguing once you start you can’t or don’t want to put the read down. I had done a read for her but told Bianca I wasn’t going to do the review until I re-read the one I purchased. When you re-read a book you’d be amazed how much more you pick up story wise.

This read has one hot, kickass human, Jake, who can hold his own with the shifters. Trained in Tibet, ex-military and friends with some pretty impressive shifters, he’s also a seer, and can see the future. Sometimes he can help and sometimes he’s too late. He doesn’t always have control over his visions. But the one vision he has, and has been having involves Ria, Pantera Noir “Nyx.”

If you’ve read Kings Throne Book #2 you’ll remember at the end of the read Jacob walks up to Ria and introduces himself then tells her he’s going to help her save the world. Thus their story begins.

Jacob’s Ladder is keeping with the story of the Venifucus and how they want to release Elspeth “The Destroyer” back into the world. This read is full of action and intrigue trust me. From the evil Venifucus Council Member Master Willard Fontanbleu a total joke of a necromancer who knows the secret of the Nyx and needs her power to infiltrate the veil between realms to bring back their leader from exile (Elspeth), to the release of the Leviathan, to the battle in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The romance between Jake and Ria was amazing. Jake has been waiting for her a long time and Ria knew immediately he was her mate and once mated she made certain everyone knew he was her mate. Seemed Jake was always defending who he was and his friend Ben Steel (ex Altor Custodis) to some of the shifters, but once they checked him out the respect and awe was immediate.

I was thrilled with all the new characters, Master Geir, Beau Champlain and Jacki Kinkaid a priestess, Uncle Ed, (Edvard a selkie), the Alpha of the Fox Clan Alan McCoy who gave a little back story to Ria about him, his mother and her mother who was the Nyx at the time. Again some of our fave characters were brought in from her previous reads. I so love that she does this. I so can’t wait for the next release Her Warrior’s, Jacki’s book with I know Master Geir and Beau, this should be interesting to say the least. 5* Bianca you rock.

Does not disappoint

I always enjoy a Bianca D'arc book. The book is sure to be well thought out with good pace and flow. The hero and heroine are sure to be strong, smart and passionate.
The Nyx and her mate are all those things. I also enjoy that many of Ms. D'arc's books take place in a contemporary world with magical as well as mundane beings.

SHE DID IT AGAIN FIVE STAR BOOK

First time I have read a book about Panthers. I'm glad there was no three way romance, as in the next book. Ria and Jake's romance and mating was probably the best of all the books. Also, first time I have ever heard of the Selkies. Great story with the best battle scene yet. Well worth your purchase.

My review of Jacob's Ladder

I really enjoyed the story. The storyline was interesting and evenly paced. The characters were dynamic. They were likable and a bit mysterious. The storyline was a bit different (in a good way) from other magic/shifter stories. It was an interesting twist on things.

Great Read!

I truly enjoyed reading this book! Jake and Gia truly made a great couple! They had so much passion and chemistry! I loved how he was such a protector over her! I enjoyed reading how he was all over the place helping and protecting others; being human in midst of all the shifters! Loved it! I definitely recommend this book!

great action and love story

I have read all 3 books in this series. The plots and the action are phenomenal and non stop. As much as I loved this authors work I felt in this one that Jacobs character was not as fully developed as it should have been.
