A Crack in Everything reveals a collision of values--old world and new, European and American, rich and poor--as the lives of a Hollywood producer, two young musical prodigies, an actress/model, and a couple of wise and earthy women intersect and force transformations in each other. Spanning several continents, the story is a journey of love and loss, the redemption that comes in realizing life's true priorities, and the light that gets in through the cracks along the way.
I read this book because Ingram is a spiritual teacher I am familiar with and I wanted to see how the teachings translate into fiction. But this novel barely skirts the teachings. Really it's just a good story about a young girl growing up and dealing with more than her share of loss. It moves from one person's point of view to another, so that we are in numerous charachers' heads, but mostly that works all right.
I was impressed with Ingram's background, which clearly includes having lived in Ireland and Los Angeles, as well as working in the film industry.
I got the book from my friend. Something about the book. The story is simple, with simple words. But it makes me tearing. Perhaps because it's just so real
A work of the heart. Sensitive and written with great insight into the human condition. I recommend this book to anyone interested in finding their own meaning in life.
