I have read the other children's books as well. This one is adorable and has some beautiful pictures of Hobbiton.

A fun, little book for kids to let them know about the world of Hobbits. Some info. came from what the movie has done to the story, and some I think comes from other books by Tolkien. But still enjoyable and fun to see pictures from the movie. Must satisfy myself with these until I can see the movie again.

P.S. A rather abrupt ending.

Didn't realise it was a kids book when I requested it from the library 😂
Very basic and could've easily been more well rounded and factual (as per Tolkien). But a quick, fun read.

Horribly redundant. I would argue that the author did little research beyond the movie. But still a good overview for a younger audience with regards to Hobbits.

In the "Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" by Paddy Kempshall it is about a hobbit and 12 dwarves that go on a journey. While on the journey they come in contact with many creatures, people, enemies, and etc.. In this book there is a lot of action and adventure.
I love everything about this book. It has comedy, action, adventure, and etc.. The author gives great detail on everything in the book. You could be reading the book and just picturing it in your mind like a movie. This book is great if you love adventure and all of the other genres that I listed because it shows a lot of each. I suggest reading this great book, there is truly nothing bad about the book.

I loved reading this book. I'd say to really enjoy reading it, it should take you at least 20-30 minutes to get through. This book has lots of pictures from the films. So, even if it is too advanced for a young reader, they can look at the maps and cool pictures.

I would say the reader should be at least at a 6th Grade Reading Level to enjoy it. I think it is more meant for teenagers, young adults and adult readers. It is an introduction into a Hobbit's World. And those he encounters on his quests. A young reader may be bored by the length of the story.

The Hobbit is fantastic. I love this book because it is so adventurous and full of fun. I love how Gandalf goes onto the hobbits door step and says "your coming with me". Then the adventure started. It is also really fun to read because the characters are so funny! for an example, Boggle is really funny because he jumps up and down and he is really hyper! I like all the beasts and creatures they face on their journey. Overall this looks like a great book so far!

This is an informational book all about hobbits. This books provides a complete description of the fantasy creatures from Tolkien's books. It provides a description of hobbits' clothing, appearance, homes, and much more. This is a great informational book that could be paired with the classic Tolkien books to help children get a better idea of the lifestyle of hobbits.

Lovely little book that tells you all you have to know about Hobbits and their friends and enemies. Intended for children, this adult liked it as well.

A cute little companion read to Tolkien’s works of Middle Earth.

My only main complaint is that the last third of the book has nothing to do with hobbits and their lifestyle/culture/etc. and only revolves around other aspects of The Hobbit movies (specifically An Unexpected Journey, as the title would suggest). When reading a book called ‘The World of Hobbits’, I don’t want to read about trolls, goblins, wargs, etc. The inclusion of the dwarves I can somewhat vaguely understand, but going beyond that is just unnecessary.

… and goblins and orcs.
“No one is quite sure where or when Goblins first appeared in Middle-Earth..” .. yep, only in Tolkien’s mind, I guess.

Don't discount this book. OK, the writing is a bit simplistic but it does contain much more information that I expected. It's certainly better than the Movie Storybook. If you wanted something to read before seeing the film then this gives enough information without giving too much (like the storybook does). There is a slight over abundance of exclamation marks, but I was won over by the end so I'll forgive that. It's a nicely produced book too, a little heavy handed with the photoshop in places (especially the sketch effect on page 6, which makes Bilbo's face look weird), but a good selection of photos. I was surprised by it being much better than I actually expected it to be.

This book is a little different from what I expect. Although I doubt the fact that if it actually worth ten dollars considering its contents, however, I thoroughly enjoy the part that is related to the food of hobbits. I originally wanted to give it a three stars, but I loved hobbit and Bilbo, so I decided to add one star to my rating.

This book is a good way to get information about hobbits, wargs, goblins, trolls, and so on. I liked the story about Thorin getting the name "Oakenshield". I like the real book (The Hobbit) better.

Not exactly a fan of Lord of the Rings and I hate Bilbo's guts because of beating Snow White... but the book is greater than the movie!
