In this companion to his best-selling book, Singleton presents first-person vignettes and a detailed case study showing educators how to usher in courageous conversations to ignite systemic transformation.
This book is for everyone, not just educators. Yes, racism deeply affects children of color in our schools. Yes, tools exist to have honest conversations that result in more success for all students. The background, strategies, examples, and voices from within show us how. My only complaint is the depth and length of the book that will keep so many from tackling it.
This is book full of conversation-worthy topics with my peers. Even though I did not finish all of it, I truly enjoyed reading the sections I did. The personal anecdotes full of wisdom through experience were the most valuable parts of the book.
