It has been reprinted more than twenty times and translated into several other languages, including Russian, and published in the Soviet Union and many other places. This foreword, which includes new mathematical discoveries, is included in Volume One of this work. Richard Courant (January 8, 1888 – January 27, 1972) was a German American mathematician. He is best known by the general public for the book What is Mathematics?, co-written with Herbert Robbins.

Continues where volume 1 left off. A good reference guide to have at uni.
