This book will vastly increase the speed at which you read, within an hour you will be able to at least double, probably triple your reading rate.
To make sure you get the most value for money possible I've also included the FREE eBook: "How to Study: 20 Tips to Get the Best Grades". It contains my best best advice on time management, goal setting and how to get the best grades with the least effort. It's advice that also transfers brilliantly well to professionals and the self employed who want to get ahead of the competition.

TECHNIQUE TWO- SEE MORE, MOVE YOUR EYES LESS
Another barrier to higher reading speeds is, again, learnt as a child. We learn to read by looking at one word at a time. It is perhaps the only way we can learn to read, but it offers a second obstacle by asking our eyes to move their fixation again, and again: which is time consuming.
The human vision is much more capable than being asked to merely look at specifically one word at a time. You don’t have to move your eyes onto every word to be able to read a sentence.
A quick step to become aware of this is to focus your sight in the middle of a sentence and notice that as you do so, you can in fact read the words around the central word, indeed without moving your sight from the center you may be able to read the whole sentence with your eyes resting at just this one space. If this is difficult, or the sentence is simply too long, mark two points in the sentence, one a third of the way in, and one two thirds of the way in, and use those as points to rest your eyes on while you read each word of the line of text.
Using your wider vision, and attempting to see more will further help you to improve the speed at which you read as you minimize time spent moving your eyes.
A useful technique is to use the above method and draw two lines down the page you are reading, dissecting it into thirds. Now practice moving your eyes only between these two points and reading all the words without any further eye movement.
If you are struggling to take in the all the words in the line, try and relax your eyes, make them feel slightly lazy so that they aren’t focused so narrowly. Let your gaze be weaker, and soon you will be able to see more than you had before.
Not the most scientific material nor my methods of testing BUT
Source - http://mindbluff.com/askread.htm BEFORE Test # 1 (John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Address) Before - You read between 300 - 350 words per minute. Above-average reading level. (The average rate is between 200 - 250 words per minute.) It is assumed that you did not skim the words nor fail to understand the meaning of what was read.
Test # 2 (The Professor's House, by Willa Cather) You read between 350 - 400 words per minute. Well above average reading level. (The average rate is between 200 - 250 words per minute.) It is assumed that you did not skim the words nor fail to understand the meaning of what was read.

Conclusion - The methods taught in this book have been surprisingly helpful and even better when I have a format I enjoy reading (blocks), centering my vision, and retaining top to bottom flow.
Regarding focus, this is a combination of things I didn’t know and reinforced things I did know. A few of the keys for me directly and whatnot made me think about are: 1. Decide what u want to do 2. Get into an environment where u can work most efficiently 3. Eliminate or minimize distractions 4. Execute 5. Make any adjustments needed 6. Execute again 7. Repeat the cycle ———————————————————— How to Speed Read 1. Decide what you want to read 2. Get into the right environment 3. Eliminate or minimize distractions 4. Don’t read every word as in a class where ur reading to a group - see it; but don’t pronounce it 5. Look at the subtitle and look how the chapter or section lines up with that 6. Have a purpose for when u read and line up ur reading for thy purpose 7. Take breaks 8. U don’t have to read every book from end to end. Look for what u want and take that info and move on to the next chapter/book, etc. ———————————————————— Above are just some of the things that I got from the books.
I have had this book since 11/15/2013 and just kept putting off reading it. I am not a fast reader but do enjoy reading. I like to be able to picture everything in my mind as I am reading a book so reading fast doesn't really appeal to me although I will never have enough time to read all the books I would like to read. I do believe my reading speed has increased since I got this book even though it has been sitting quietly in my Kindle for over 5 years. The book does have some good suggestions, and I think I somehow discovered some of these ideas before reading the book. These suggestions would have been very valuable in my college days when I found it difficult to do all the required reading. I did find a few subject/verb disagreements in this book. There was a bonus book after this one about good study habits. That book also had some good suggestions, but the editing was really poor in that second book; there were many mistakes a good editor should have found.
Simple, great ideas. Easily referenced, easily understood, a quick study on basic study skills - always helpful, whether a school student, or a student of life
I was impressed with this book and have started trying the methods as described. I did increase my speed a little just by not back reading. A long way to go through as my reading pile is really high and I want to read them all. In my opinion this is a great little book to help. Check it out for yourself.
This was a free book. After reading Mr. Connelly's book, I'll purchase his other books. Very easy, useful directions. Now I can have more time for pleasure reading and when I'm reading to learn I will have better retention in less time.
I think this is a better speed reading book than the last one I read. The techniques were neat and I think I'll try them. Nice short, simple, and sweet.
