Sterek It’s like this dog has walked out of all of Stiles’ childhood dreams and into the real world just because Stiles wanted it hard enough. He is the most awesome dog ever, and Stiles and his new dog totally have a bond. A deep, unbreakable bond because this dog is his spirit animal, obviously. Now he just has to convince the dog of that. Words: 31661 complete
So good. I loved the sense of humor, and Derek as a dog was really sweet. Laura was fun, and exactly the sort of big sister I could imagine Derek having. Really well done.
Good god, this was hilarious. Meaning it literally had me laughing out loud at the bus station, in front of something like ten people. A a certain point I had to stop reading because the bus was coming, and I just kept bursting into giggles at random intervals - while I was getting onto the bus, while I was punching the ticket, while I was finding a place to stand in without falling in someone's lap - and believe me, I do that a lot. On old men's laps, usually. Talk about awkward.
Aside from Stiles' self-deprecating sarcasm - which I can relate to so much it's not even funny - and his being so angstily and hornily and awkwardly teenage, his perfect, spot-on Stilesness hit me like a brick in the forehead. This author nailed it. And Derek - oh, baby, come here and let me cuddle you then fuck you senseless. Silent, awkward, seemingly cold but actually just one big dumb puppy. Can you see how compatible they are? Can you see the perfection? I bet you can.
I love how Stiles - the story is narrated in his pov, so we know more about his thoughts than we do about Derek's - is a complete person. I mean, he's not a guy in love: he's a friend, a son, a pet half-owner and a guy in love. He has feelings about everything, he doesn't only think about his prospective lover, but about his friend and his dad and his crush. Then there's also the whole doggy side of things - which is just so unbearably cute and fluffy and insanely funny it made me want to get a dog - which I've actually wanted to do since I was five, but my mom's allergic to anything soft and lovable, so that's a no-go. I could get a werewolf though, maybe.
That said, this is still a deliciously awkward love story. My sterek-loving core is oh-so-satisfied.
Just as good, if not better the second time around :)
---- This book. If you are at all a fan of Sterek this one is a must read. It just felt sooooo good. The whole book was one big warm snuggle fest. I loved it. So pretty!
Can I have a dog? I want a dog. Huh? Pllllleeeeeese, pretty please with sugar on top and a cherry. Please, Dad. I'd be the bestest, most awesome owner ever and I will hug him and squeeze and name him Dude.
I barked with laughter several times and Bree was right, not recommended for when the SO is trying to go to bed. Crankenpuss.
The voicing on this one is really superlative--funny, clever, but never overdoing it. It is not a highly eventful story, but the scenes of the Stilinski men reacting to the "dog" are priceless. Likewise, Laura as a slightly nightmarish sister/"dog" owner is hilarious. Altogether, a light, pleasurable read. Special mention goes to Stiles' "Dog Found" poster.
A fantastic AU-Teen Wolf fanfiction. Stiles as a dog owner is one of the most adorable and touching things I've read lately and Derek's reactions to him when he's a wolf are priceless.
In addition to a wonderful sense of humour throughout the story there's a lot of emotion. A great read for any Sterek fan.
"A boy can learn a lot from a dog: obedience, loyalty, and the importance of turning around three times before lying down." - Robert Benchley
OMG shut your face with all the cute. This was lovely, I agree with what some have said about it being a bit rushed near the end but for me it's only cause I am super greedy and want 400 more pages. Well 400 might be pushing it but you get what I mean!! A lovely little read.
I love doggy Derek and I get to use my most favourite fanart. I love this one so much I got it on a cushion like a proper weirdo.
Derek was too emotionally constipated and socially stunted in this one. Instead of coming off as broody and mysterious he was just extremely awkward and immature.
Everyone else really liked it, though, so I'm probably just a weirdo and you should ignore me and just look at the pretty picture.
"You followed me home," Stiles whispers back, tips Derek's chin up so he can press the words right into his mouth with a kiss. "I'm keeping you."
Derek is particularly reticent here; the most emotionally constipated I've seen yet.
Stiles is in top notch form with his inane ramblings.
This is a slow burn story about a boy who loves a dog and wins him over with his charm and steadfastness. Boy finds out that said dog is actually the guy he's been pining for. Once all is revealed, they live happily ever after. The end.
While it was recommended to me, the story was also a good 'medicine' after the emotional hurt/comfort Merlin/Arthur story that I read prior to this one. Stiles was adorable -- the way he planned all those excuses to make his Dad agreed to let him get a dog was hilarious. I was smiling and chuckling along the way.
However, I also felt that there was more interaction between Stiles and Derek-the dog rather than Derek-the human. And I was still blurry on the plot about Peter.
I've read this before but didn't rate it and I couldn't find it on my iPad, so what's a woman to do other than take one for the team and re-read it. It's true my life is hard that way. I think I loved it even more this time. Utterly adorable. ( yes, I know I complain that adorable is way overused in fanfiction. In this way Dorothy Parker and I are soul sisters. )
Very Stiles, sometimes a little too, especially when things got repetitive.
Stiles "tells" this story but Derek intrigued me more, leaving me with questions. It also made it more difficult to connect to Derek and believe his emotional reactions.
The story was at its best when Stiles n Derek were in scenes together, creating the Sterek.
The writing is pretty dern good, flows well, and did a nice job in creating atmosphere and sense of place.
A little too straightforward for my tastes, but that's on me. When you're looking for a sweet read, this'll fit the bill. :)
This was too warm and fuzzy to give it anything else than 5 stars.
I just loved Stiles getting so attached to his growling, grumpy and sour dog/wolf. His constant banter and affection with the dog showed how much in need of affection and caring Stiles himself was, how lonely he felt and in need of companionship but also how much care and love he can bestow on anyone lucky to win his graces.
The relationship with the dog was just perfect. I alternated between imagining "Dude" as this slightly different dog and Derek in wolf form. And I laughed out loud at their each encounter. Stiles was too lovable for anything else. I found myself wishing Stiles could somehow keep both Derek in human form and the dog. Stiles deserves to have someone by his side at all times.
The plot was believable. The side characters were engaging and helpful. The heroes of the story were spot on to what I envisioned them to be and loved them to death. The chemistry between them was enticing.
What's not to love?! :)
2nd read: Maybe not full 5 star worthy but still, made my heart warm.
Fun, quippy writing. Or, maybe that’s Stile’s charming motor-mouth internal and external dialogue coming to the fore. The awkwardness of teenager-hood morphing into adult desire is sweetly done.
They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. For Stiles it’s through his ‘dog’. A very clever and different kind of wooing is going on here. And it seemed to hit all the requisite variables: snark, active eyebrow-speak, broody broodiness, physical awkwardness, and simmering slow burn.
I especially liked the sweet tenderness of the last 15% of the story— rating gets bumped up just for that. (Thanks for the rec, Trix)
4.5 stars. This Sterek made me laugh so hard, multiple times, out loud, perhaps too loud, at night, when other people were trying to sleep (my partner). And I might have stayed up way too late because I could not stop reading it. But it was worth it.
Adorable. I lost count of how often I literally LOLed and the descriptions of Derek's moods, eyebrows and actions were so easy to see translated into dog/wolf-form. I do wish there'd been more sexy-times, and that the ending wasn't as rushed. Also, not sure why that last bit was sort of (?) from the Sheriff's POV.
Oh, the adorableness! This was fantastically fun to read. An AU of the beginning of season 1 in which Stiles was perfect: awkward and goofy and sweet and earnest. And Derek was deliciously brooding and stoic while simultaneously being thoughtful and solicitous. And together they're lovely.
I thoroughly enjoyed their interactions both as boy and wolf and boy and boy. Honestly Derek says just about as much in either form, but his expressions and the reactions he gets from Stiles are always delightful and frequently hilarious.
So, so much fun!
And then when Derek finally opens up near the end and actually does talk: the story goes from fun and frequently-silly to sincere and touching and beautifully sweet.
Favorite Quotes: He looks kind of like the German Shepherd on the K-9 unit at the sheriff's department, if that dog had been bombarded with gamma radiation and turned into the magnificent doggy version of the Hulk.
He looks like how Stiles has always pictures Sirius Black's dog-shape. It's like this dog has walked out of all of Stiles' childhood dreams and into the real world just because Stiles wanted it hard enough.
"I'll call you tomorrow to make sure your new dog hasn't eaten you."
The dog just sighs again, rolls his eyes, and looks away like he can't believe this bullshit is his life.
"I'm pretty sure a wolf wouldn't let me live to tell the tale if i snuggled it."
Actually he doesn't even look at the squirrel, he just stares at Stiles like, Really? and looks bored.
His cake tastes like magic, like it was baked by Christmas elves and unicorns.
Stiles finally stops himself by actually physically clapping a hand over his mouth, and he follows that up with carefully sliding his soup ... and coffee to one side so that he can more effectively curl himself face-down into the tabletop. It's sort of like his own personal version of becoming an armadillo.
Stiles was great, I really liked him in this one. But Derek was VERY broody.
Stiles finds a dog. He takes him home and tried to make him his pet. Of course this is wolf Derek.
His ‘owner’ Laura gets Derek and Stiles is heartbroken. He meets up with Laura to hear how the dog is doing and meets Derek, Laura’s brother.
I would have liked it if this fic was just a tad longer. I wanted the relationship to develop more than it did. Stiles and Derek didn’t even know each other that well. There wasn’t a lot of time spent together with Derek as a human. Derek and Stiles meet at about 30%, but after that they don’t see each other that often.
And of course a little more of the Sterek sex would have been great.
Hyper Stiles craving a dog but getting a Werewolf of his own instead. Stiles is funny in his angling for a dog, though it did made him come across very young.
I liked Wolf-Derek and his grumpy claiming of Stiles. As Derek is practically monosyllable as a human there's actually more from him as a 'dog' than as a man. Didn't really get that much of an impression of him as a person aside from hot and broody.
Definitely a story for dog-lovers! I loved the arch judgemental 'dog' and how smugly he managed to get treats and snuggles. Could also see why being 'dog' would be easier for Derek, acceptane without the pressure to be social.
Not knowing the series the mention of Uncle Peter confused me as that's a pretty big thing that gets no explanation at all and is accepted without question.
Not a 'sexy' read, but a cute, light fic that raised a smile.
That was a cute read. Nice way to spend my evening. I was a bit worried that Derek being the "dog" to begin with was gonna make things a bit squicky and weird, but it wasn't ever like that, so yeah it was a sweet read and laughed out loud a few times too. I love stiles!
