Her life isn't glamorous, but Rhea Griggs does her best. In her small town of Wakefield, Virginia she lives the life she has been given, but loving your older brother's best friend is always a gamble. For Rhea, it's an unspoken truth. Chad Payne is a sailor, a SEAL, and he loves his job, but the danger and unknowing is starting to weigh on his heart and soul. He's ready to settle down, but confessing his love for his best friend's little sister is easier said than done. When heartbreak and loss find Rhea, Chad knows it's now or never. Is two weeks enough for them to share the love of a lifetime? To mend two hearts into one? Can Rhea handle what comes with loving a SEAL?
Contains rowdy country fun, heart warming love and one heart wrenching farewell that will leave you speechless.
This book had my emotions all over the place... One minute I like this. Then it gets better and I am like this... Then the flashbacks come in and I am a little... Next I am happy all over again And finally the deployment comes and the letter and my heart gets ripped out and I look like this.
See told you a total roller coaster! The author did an amazing job with what I think the emotions would be like if you were going through this yourself. I am married to a man that was in the military when we first started dating and luckily I never had to go through a deployment. I really don't know how women do it. You have to be extremely strong.
I loved the characters in this book. I was routing for them the whole time. I even hated the ones I was not suppose to like. I wanted to beat them to a pulp most of the book! But they got their Karma nice and hard in the face. :)
I can't wait to read book 2 and see Where Chad & Rhea's story goes from here on out.
I did a reread and let's just say that I fell in love with Chad all over again and he's so big and strong and yummy omg so cliche lol. The story is well written in a good that I devoured it and just couldn't let myself go for you'll feel the strong pull of it and you're just wanting more of Chad. I like Rhea she's funny but at times I was annoyed with her. But you'll just love how they connect and it's swooooooon worthy for me.
I'm a sucker for military romance, so any time I find a book with SEAL in the title, I want to check it out. I had trouble getting through this one.
The Prologue was an information dump, and unfortunately left me with a big question that was never properly answered. Seems Rhea and Chad have been in love with each other since they were young kids, but then they lost their virginities to each other, 'whispering meaningless I love you's to each other.' Why were they meaningless? You have two people who have been in love with each other for years sharing the most profound thing two people can share for the first time. Why were the "I love you's" meaningless?
They made love again after Rhea's brother's death. Again, they exchanged "meaningless" I love you's. Why were they meaningless? It was a sticking point for me because both Rhea and Chad both seemed surprised when the other admitted they loved them. There was little explanation of how their relationship had been left, and I had the impression they were somewhat uncomfortable around each other. They didn't feel like old friends, just awkward teenagers. I guess I just didn't buy the relationship - or lack thereof - from the start, so it carried through the whole book.
The story was ok, but repetitive. As many times as Duke showed up, you'd think they would have pressed charges for stalking, or at least taken out a restraining order. But other than the altercations with Duke, the only other thing that happened was Rhea's dread of Chad's deployment.
The writing itself needs to be cleaned up. The grammar was often incorrect, the punctuation - particularly in the dialogue - was often wrong (no question marks were used after questions in dialogue - very difficult to read), and the tense shifts are very distracting. There was a lot of descriptions of clothing, name brands, etc. and food, but the character development was lacking.
The end was a disappointment. Duke is still out there, and after all of his harassment, why would anyone believe he isn't going to stalk Rhea after Chad leaves? If he was willing to confront a highly trained Navy SEAL for her attention, why wouldn't he continue to pursue her once he's out of the way?
Would I read the next installment? I doubt it. If I knew the writing was improved and there was more meat to the story, perhaps, but based on this first book, I don't think I'd invest the time.

Make a donation to support one of the USA's many armed forces! I loved the story. Rhea was totally amazing. By the time I was 1/4 way through I was thinking she has endured so much pain, yet she moves on with life. I dont know if there is a woman alive who wouldnt be touched by her story. Her Mom, well she was always hanging on. Her brother Randy was a HERO. Her Dad was a loser. Chad who was Randi's best friend couldn't be any finer.
It tells the story of an family and great group of friends whop were touched, hurt, torn apart, and broken by military service. I really enjoyed the way the author depicts the effects war and service have on the loved ones. I thought her writing was great! I see some reviews that are confusing. Sometimes there are edits, my book was perfect without anything noticeable glaring off the page. The message is there so if you love angst and military type dramas then YES it is for you. Moving to book 2!
I downloaded this book free from amazon and decided to give it a whirl. I'm very happy I did too because I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't imagine what the wives/husbands feel when they watch their spouse leave them never knowing of their fate. It's heart breaking. It's hard for our family when my cousin leaves so I could only imagine the turmoil they feel. With that being said on with my thoughts.
With every page I wanted to know more. I was curious as to where the story would lead and WOOHOOO it went right where I wanted it to.
To know the life of Rhea what she suffered from a father she loved to a man she hated, to lose her brother Ryan, he protector and to watch her mom spiral out of control and have to drop out of law school to take care of her mom when she was doing so well was heart wrenching.
Rhea is strong willed, even when she is broken she does what must be done and she does have moments of breakdowns but who could ever blame her?
Chadwick Payne, Ryan's best friend and Rheas love since she was five, even if he didn't know it. And he has been I love with Rhea since he was 15. They were together one night at a party and declared their love to one another, and it happened again but they never professed their true feelings or made anything official. Darn them. It was obvious they are made for each other, he is as protective of her as Ryan and loves her as much.
To know how long Chad has loved Rhea and how long Rhea has loved Chad and they finally get it together and lay all of their feelings out was awesome. Made me...
I laughed, smiled a lot, got a little chocked up and yes I did cry a little, but I couldn't help it hearing their goodbye killed me. Dana is awesome and sweet. Kendall is crazy and I'm so happy she decided to give Harlow a chance. That makes me smile.
A story of love, loss, mistakes, longing, friendships, and happiness.
Honestly while this was an amazon kindle freebie, people need to be warned that they will lose some hours of their lives and some tooth enamel reading it!!!! Please reconsider!!!
Grammer mistakes abound, the whole story is cheesy and trite and just so odd. I only kept reading as I figured with so many decent reviews here and at amazon that things would get better, but they didn't! Honestly just because a books got SEALS/ national defence types in it, it doesn't automatically deserve a wonderful rating. I'm starting to wonder if there's a knee jerk response that way in case it's considered unpatriotic?
I won't be back for part 2, and I'm an incurable sticky beak!! That says something.
This was a free book I picked up having never read this author before. I could not put it down. It is an extremely romantic, touching, tear jerking book.
The story of Rhea & Chad having always had feelings for each other since they were children growing up together and neither knowing how the other felt, is wonderful.
I feel for Rhea having lost her brother and mother within a few years time, is something that I wish no one had to suffer. Thank god for Chad's mom Dana and then eventually for Chad who admits to her that he loves her and wants her in his life forever.
This piece little number was a gem to read. Funny, witty and definitely a emotion jerker. I got it free on amazon and was hooked from the word go. I enjoyed seeing the formality in the armed services and the loyalty between the brothers. I have started on the second book and will continue until I get to the end of the series.
What an amazing book. As a military wife I loved how she captured the anguish of saying "good-bye". It was a little sappy but I always love a good romance. Can't wait for the next one!
Let me start off by saying, this is the first military romance that I’ve read. I tend to stay away from these, as I’m more into contemporary and erotica. That being said, I give Theresa Marguerite Hewitt five stars for this military romance. I absolutely fell in love with this story. I went into it, thinking that I wasn’t going to like it, but my mind was changed the instant I started it. The book opened with an outstanding prologue. It hooked me. Great job with that, Theresa! Rhea has lost both her mother and brother, who was a Navy SEAL. With no one left except her best friend Kendall, and her mother’s best friend, Dana, Rhea lives a shell of her former life. That is, until Chadwick Payne comes home. Rhea has loved Chad ever since she was ten years old. Chad’s loved Rhea ever since he was fifteen. They just never told each other. So when Chad comes home for two weeks, he and Rhea instantly connect, starting a relationship. These two weeks are filled with passionate lovemaking and discoveries. At the end of those two weeks though, they must say goodbye, as Chad leaves to an unknown location for an unknown amount of time. This novel filled me with emotion, especially during the scene where Chad had to leave. I cried, so hard. I felt as if a part of me was leaving too. I loved the supporting characters as well, Kendall, Rosa, Reno (which is my best friend’s name, oddly enough. She’s in the Navy as well.), Duke, and Dana. Rhea has an amazing support system and her relationship with each character is different. I highly believe that Theresa was writing from experience. The details that she was able to describe were down to a T. Unless she did some extensive research… The emotional goodbye scene also felt as if she was drawing from experience. The details, as I said, were spectacular. I love when I am able to fully envision what an author is describing; it makes the story ten times better for me. The story also switches form Rhea’s point of view, to Chad’s. I loved getting to pick inside of Chad’s mind, learning that his feelings for Rhea are true and deep. Theresa, I loved this story. I’m already working on Coming Home, which is the second book in the Wakefield Romance series. Thank you so much for asking me to review these! Who knew that I would actually enjoy a military romance…

Two Weeks with a SEAL is a great book. It’s a love story between Rhea and Chad that’s starts out on tragedy for Rhea. Pulling herself together after the back to back loss of both her SEAL brother Randy and the overdose of her Mother on Christmas Eve is almost to much, but then Chad comes home for two weeks and that changes her whole life.
This is a story told from two sides, which is great for a reader. Be prepared this is a book set in real life, dealing with real life issues. This is Part 1 of a series and by this end you want more. The only issue I have with this book is you don’t get to hear Harlan and Kendall’s side, but I think I am just being greedy with that request. So the story goes like this, Rhea’s life has been full of hardship and tragedy. Her mother, brother an Rhea manage to get rid of their abusive husband/father. Rhea’s brother joins the SEALS with his best friend Chad. Randy is killed while on a mission and Rhea’s mother overdoses on pain killers and dies on Christmas. Chad (the man Rhea has secretly been in love with), come home for two weeks and is determined to have a relationship with Rhea. While trying to be together they have to deal with Duke, a man Rhea hooked up with, but has no feelings for. We follow their time together for the two weeks that Chad is home. Have your tissues ready.
3 stars This review is for Two Weeks with a SEAL (The Wakefield Romance Series)
I enjoyed this book for the most part. The story was strong as were both the H/h, Rhea and Chad. The execution of the story, though, left much to be desired and I found myself skimming through much of it.
Stated plainly, there was too much cataloging exactly what was taking place in detail: we woke, there were bacon smells and coffee, we had sex, we got ready and went to lunch, we came home, we had sex, we went out, we ran into dickhead sorta ex-boyfriend, etc., on and on...yawn.
What I loved: -- the scenes from their shared childhood -- the scenes written from Chad's POV -- descriptions of small town, country life -- everything about being a Navy SEAL, the missions, descriptions of other team members, descriptions of deployment felt authentic -- Author picked a meaningful stopping point
Not so much loved: -- present tense, it leant an immediacy, but one that verged on unfeeling and static -- it was PG-13, maybe even 12. Too bad, as the sex scenes were really well-written...yes, catalogued, but in a sensual, non-smutty way. -- the teaser into book 2 broke the above-mentioned tension, darn it, AND dropped a major spoiler plot bomb! :(
Rhea: a mid-20s Jennifer Love Hewitt. Chad: a very scruffy Channing Tatum.
(Forgive any typos: it's 3AM and I want to post this while story is fresh. Nite.)
My View: Well hell I think this is my number 1 favorite series! If you dont want to cry, laugh, and even have a few moments of what the hell..... If you love those things then this is a book you will love!!!!1
Here you have Rhea who has just lost her mom to suicide... she lost her brother a few years earlier to the war, and her father to prison for drugs. She has known Chad her whole life, he was friends with her brother growing up and they joined the military together and served as seals together. Chad comes home for two week leave, he finally tells Rhea how he has loved her, and she tells him that she loves him......*swoon*... They take a trip to the family cabin with his seal team, Rhea moves in with chad... throw in a little bit of Duke Orr who wants Rhea to him self, he does his best to come between Rhea and Chad. Chad threatens Duke to keep Rhea safe while he is away.... Then its time for Chad to ship out... Thankfully Rhea has Rosa to lean on, she is a wife of a seal on Chads team
I truly did love this story I have read this book on more then one occasion and I will read it on more occasions! I am glad there is more to the series!!!!

It's hard for our family when my cousin leaves so I could only imagine the turmoil they feel.
I also cried for Randy and for the pain Rhea has went through. A story of love, loss, mistakes, longing, friendships, and happiness.
She's loved him since she was 5 years old. He was 5 years older than her and her brother's best friend, but Rhea loved everything about him and even though she tried as she got older even when he enlisted and was gone for months at a time, she never could forget Chad.
Chad fell in love with Rhea when he was 15 as they got older it was because of his respect for his best friend that he stayed away from her. Now after they have both lost loved ones and best friends they come together and finally profess their love and are finally, finally together. But the catch? He's getting deployed again in two weeks. Allot can happen in a short amount of time and what happens when he has to leave again? Add in an obsessed man ready to show Rhea he can be what she wants, and you get a great story.
Rhea was a strong lead, but her feer of rejection caused her to lose years with the man she's always loved. The same can be said of Chad, he should've maned up a long time ago, but at least they finally have each other, right? The supporting characters in this helped keep things light even when you needed a tissue every 10 mins. Alpha Male, hot sex, and a whole lot of Love what more do you want in a novel?
The best part of Two Weeks With a SEAL was the emotion of the military men and the people that love them. In reality, if you just have two weeks to be with the one you love before they return to duty, you are going to have an emotion filled time together. The book is written to honor our military men and the families they leave behind that support them. It is not a story with a giant catastrophe or really much suspense but it does tell how a woman in love with a SEAL would find herself on a roller coaster of emotions.
I am not from the South but I do live in the South and moving here has been an experience. They grow tobacco here and they chew tobacco here and they act like some of the characters in this book. I am by no means saying that everyone in the South is this type of redneck but a small percentage of the population drink, chew and drive around in loud truck and they are proud to be called a 'Redneck'.
A review is an opinion and I read the ones featured for this story and almost didn't take it for free but I enjoy a military story, so I gave it a try. It does need edited, but as it honors our military hero's; I found it worth the time it took to read it.
I loved this beautiful love story. I think we all remember our first crush, even when it’s not mutual, and this story brought back memories. Chad, a Navy Seal with a body to die for, would make any woman swoon. Rhea has been in love with Chad, her brother’s best friend since she was 5 years old. Chad was her first and she wants him to be her last, but Rhea doesn’t realise he has always loved her as well. In the beginning of the book, Rhea life is turned upside down when one tragedy follows another and I was on the verge of tears many times. When their love finally ignites, it’s explosive and as their story unfolded, I was constantly smiling and sighing. But it’s not all smooth sailing and there are a few ‘bumps’ in the road, although I think it made their love stronger. Even though I knew it was coming, I wasn’t prepared for the emotion I felt at the end of the story and I admit, I did cry. I gave it 4 and half stars. Written by ~Karen~ from Confessions of a Bookaholic
Wow! I got this book for free and can't believe it! I kind of figured this was the typical military love story about the dangers/drama of loving a military man. WRONG! There was a beautiful story of growing up, loving and loss, and finding your way to your true love. Chad was a perfect gentleman with his devotion to Rhea, even if it meant staying away. They have a wonderful connection, and you just want to scream at them, "Just admit it!" Which is pretty funny, when everyone around them does just that! This book does have a continuing novel, so I'm interested to read it and keep going.
There is some heavy foreshadowing, and I'm afraid of what might happen. There is great character development among all the leads and supporters. I enjoy and ensemble novel. Pick this one up if you get the chance!
I enjoyed this book alot. It was easy to relate to the story line, and there were times when I could feel Rhea's panic rising in my own chest at the thought of her loved one leaving. It provides an inside view of the life of a military person and their family, spurring a better understanding for those of us who have never experienced it.
While I enjoyed the story, there were a few drawbacks. There was a desperate need for editing. Many misused words and repeated terms jarring the flow of the book. Also, the characters could have used some more developing. Other than that Rhea is beautiful, desirable, and missing her family, we don't know much about her. The same applies to Chad, he is handsome, irresistible and charming, but I wish the author had dug a little deeper and shown us more of her characters.
Overall, an enjoyable read for a good cause. I'd call that a win.
I enjoyed Rhea and Chad's story. I love stories of love since childhood that this was one. Chad is a Navy Seal, whose best friend and fellow Seal, Randy, dies on a mission. Chad is in love with Rhea, Randy's five year younger little sister. Rhea wanted to go to law school and makes it through college, but ends up dropping out of law school to assist for caring for her mother. Chad's mother Dana, is very good friends with Rhea's mother, and assists in her care.
The story starts when Rhea's mother dies. A month later, Chad returns home and he and Rhea have a reunion. The two weeks of leave are the "Two Weeks with a Seal."
I kept waiting for the shoe to drop, but it does not. Chad spends his two weeks with Rhea and returns to the military. He is planning on going to a desk job at the end of this mission.
I think maybe the shoe will fall in the next book and I can't wait.
This is a beautiful story. Rhea has went thru so much loss in her 25 years of life. She is a very strong young woman. She has loved Chad all of her life. Chad is a hot Navy Seal. Chad comes home for a 2 week leave and He finally tells Rhea that he has loved since she was 5. Chad & Rhea explore their new relationship and it is hot. Rhea’s heart finally full whole finally for the first time in her life. Can Rhea big strong for Chad after he leaves on his next tour. Don’t forget to grab some tissue before reading.
My favorite Quote: I love her, I always have, but I don’t want to hurt her. She’s the light beacon in my darkness, her smile always bringing me out of myself, making me a better man.
Coming Home is the next book in The Wakefield Romance Series.
Incredible story!! Rhea and Chad's story is heart-warming and beautiful. It perfectly pictures the struggles of being in a military relationship, with all the worry, the sadness, the faith, the goodbyes and the uncertainty. Chad is hands-down, no-questions-asked the BEST and hottest book boyfriend ( and my personal book husband). He's alpha, caring, attentive, patient and sweet. I've read this book about 7 times, and it never gets old. All the characters are full of depth and perfectly developed. Theresa's writing gives you the sense of actually living the plot, which can be very difficult to accomplish. Perfect romance novel. Period. ~ (Life Between Fiction)
This is the start of a good series. I was able to pick the first book up for free. I wondered why it was titled two weeks with a Seal. It's because the second installment picks up where this book leaves off. Chad comes home and finds Rhea (the only person the other has ever loved). They finally tell each other how they feel and it is off like a bang. Within days of seeing each other, she is moving in and they are getting married. Oh, and he is leaving the service. While this story is more down-earth than most, I still feel like some of the characters should have been held responsible for their actions. I am not sure if I will read the second book, but I enjoyed the first.
This was a cute book, Rhea a yping counrty girl has been in love with her big brothers best friend since she first laid eyes on him at 10 yo. Chad is Rhea brothers best friend, whose name i cant find/ remeber. Cahd and the brother go off to join the Navy to be Seals once they graduated high school leaving Rhea behind. When Vhad comes back so does news that Rays (Rhea's) brother is dead :'( Sand and feeling alone, Ray & Chad realize they need to stop fighting what's always been between them while they have the time. Chad is leaving for another tour over seas in two weeks. What happens with these two is up to u to find out, but i say read this book and find out.
I loved this book. I always enjoy reading books about military men and women and their families. This book reached out and tugged on my heart strings. It was emotional and pulled me into it. I didn't want to put it down. Military books always hit me in a different way than most books but this one hit me twice as hard. There were a few misspellings and a few grammatical errors. These errors don't bother me to much because I make mistakes like this all the time. I am a terrible speller and not good with grammar either. So I look past it. This book had my heart racing and eyes tearing through the whole thing. A good read that will leave you wanting for the next one!!
I'm not sure why I continued reading this book when I had a knot on my throat most of the time, yeah it was an emotional whirlwind. Actually, I do know why I read it, it was a great love story! I can't wait to read more on book two. This book was not at all what I expected but it turned out to be better. I just love all the pop culture references!!.... The only two issues I had with this book was the grammar but whatever and Chads POV, I don't think many guys speak like he did! Lol!!! Still a great book.
It grasped the cooping and hard times going through the minds of those dealing with loved ones being deployed to fight over seas. It definitely helped me know what helps the person being deployed needs to hear before they're leaving, and to see you strong. Fall apart when they're gone, and lean on other military families who understand what your going through for strength. She did a great job describing the heart ache, but also what it's like being with an active military person.
Couldn't help but fall in love with Chad and Rhea to the extent that I bought the second book in the series as soon as I finished the first which I rarely do when I get the first as a kindle freebie! They're definitely country people which was a completely different experience for a city girl like me. I probably would have given the book a 5 if the writing style was a little better-lots of grammar issues in this and the second one.
Damn this book is good and I got it free, I would have paid good money for this. Rhea has suffered so much in the past then Chad comes hone for two weeks. They have know each other for years, but never confessed their feelings until now. This book is well written and very emotional, I needed a tissue every now and then. So good I brought the second in the series Coming Home before I was half way through.
