I have lived most of my life in Kent, England but I’ve also lived in New Zealand and central Africa. Both had a lasting influence. Africa dragged my love of writing to the surface. Living some forty miles from the nearest tarmac road and seventy from anything pretending to be a bookshop, I soon ran out of bedtime stories for the children. Scribbling began.

On returning to England, fiction had to take a back seat as real life took over, you know the sort of thing - a proper job to keep feeding the mortgage and the growing family, and chores, chores and more chores. But a love of writing finally erupted into regular tap-tapping. I've written and read for the BBC and published short stories.

Finally, a little more time was found, seven novels have been completed, and more are in the pipeline. I like to include interesting facts in my writing and it is often the case that fact is stranger than fiction, as you probably know. The first book to be published was Hide in Time, a time travel romance. The second book was inspired by the smugglers’ caves I visited as a child, and the third is a sequel set in the ‘diamond isle’ – the Isle of Wight. My website tells more about the inspiration for the books.

And what do people say about the books?

“A clever mixture of suspense, romance and time travel” - Hide in Time
“Dark romantic mystery on a knife edge throughout” - One Dark Night.

A steamy cup of tea, lemon pound cake and Anna Faversham's Hide in Time is all you need for a cold winter's evening.
Laura Yager is not what she seems. Owner of a match-making service, she unites lost souls. She finds a kindred spirit in Xandra Radcliff. Neither of them quite fit in their lives and Laura's story is peeled back with tantalizing slowness revealing she is adjusting to life 200 years after the time she was born into.
Xandra is the target of criminals and feels uncomfortable in the twenty-first century. She yearns for the simpler golden age of the Regency, when manners and men were different.
Laura sends Xandra back in time, and interestingly enough is able to visit and check on her although she remains invisible. Both women must carve out a life and find both peace and true love as they Hide in Time.
Charming, sweet, a fun read, Faversham manages to keep the reader turning the pages jumping from one century to the next as the character encounter problems. The biggest, their faulty memory as they adjust to find both love and happiness.

what a delightful story. first there was Jane who came from 1814 to the present; then we have Xandra leaving the present and hiding, with a loss of memory, in 1814. The parson asks her how her soul is and she tells it's asleep - he says for her to take care of it, for it will last longer than anything else she will ever have. Oh, this is such a pleasure to read, right up to the thrilling end, through tense moments and laughter...

Hide in Time has sold more than any of my other books and achieved 'Best Seller' status in Amazon's Romance Time Travel category. I took a picture of the yellow banner just in case it disappeared, and it did, but it came back. It's been there long enough to make me smile. I hope Hide in Time makes you smile too.

This was a very unusual time-travel story and intrigued me right to the last page. I liked Laura very much and her desire to put right the things she had done wrong in her time was selfless and endearing. She only wanted the people she loved to be happy. I liked the fact there were two heroines and two heroes all with their own problems to solve. And the author tied up all the loose ends nicely making it a well rounded and satisfying story. I believe there's also a great deal of leeway for a sequel in the future.

This was an interesting story that I was dragged into from reading the sample. In fact I was on holidays with over 80 books loaded onto my kindle to choose from, but once I started reading this, I knew I had to get it to finish it.

Part time travel, part historical romance, part mystery, this was a very enjoyable read. The back and forth between time periods gave the story a different edge to a normal romance.

I think this is a very solid start for a new author.

A well told story

Surprisingly a well told story with so many details hopping from 1800s to modern time. It was really easy to follow and not get lost. I truly loved it and much love, of course.

This was a solid 5 stars to me for several reasons.

The plot was well developed as were the characters. Aside from the well developed plot and characters, the imagination of the author in developing the "rules" of the time transfer was effective and added to the interest and intrigue of the developing tale. The writing was very good as the author knows how to use good grammar, word usage, and complete sentences. The style of writing provides an enhanced, smooth flow of the tale.

The primary character, Laura, at 18 years of age in 1814, was in love with and engaged to Adam, a man whom she thought was honorable to the highest degree. He had a brother, Jack, who gambled and squandered family assets so the estate was in danger of being forfeited. Their father seemed to be passive and uninterested in reining in Jack and left the affairs of management of the estate to Adam. Laura saw Adam doing something and made assumptions that she later found were not true, though it was after she had decided to leave Kent for America to start afresh, leaving behind the man she loved but thought she could no longer admire due to this secret, assumed inconsistency in his character. She did not get very far, for the ship wrecked and she was able to get away safely.

Chapter 1 moves to 2009, five years after Laura showed up on a beach after having been transferred through some type of time portal into the future. The story moves back and forth between the 1814 time and the current time to reveal things that were taking place in both times. The author created the time travel or transfer rules brilliantly. It was not a portal through which one could continuously travel back and forth with no consequences. I won't give away those "secrets" so new readers will have to discover them during the process.

The relationships between Laura and the people from her past and present grow more interesting as the tale proceeds. The development of romances is laced with intrigue as the reader discovers them unfold. In her past, there is Adam, whom she loves and of whom she has found out too late her assumptions were wrong. There is Xandra (Alexandra) from her present who is in danger because she thwarted a robbery and is now a target. Matt is the man who found her on the beach when she first moved through the portal into modern times and who has patiently helped her along the way. Somehow, he knows she must be genuine.

This is much deeper than just an "everyday" romance tale. Laura is faced with many choices and decisions, which she executes admirably. How deep is her love for Adam, especially after she finds she was wrong? What would she do for him now if she could? She can't go back to become his bride because of the time portal "rules". Will she sacrifice her painful desires to be with him to help give him another chance at true love? Will she "hide" Xandra in another time to save her, knowing there is no returning? Will she give Matt a chance? Does he know more than she thinks he does?

Laura is willing to make personal sacrifices to, in essence, atone for her misunderstandings and to protect her friends. She is noble. Maybe she will reap some benefits in the conclusion of the tale. (I'll never tell!)

I would recommend this book.

A book I will read again. The time transition gave a multi-generational view. It is a pleasure to read a book with several characters you like and want to see the best for their lives along with a bit of mystery along the way.

A novel concept here. Laura, who doesn’t seem quite at home somehow in the 21st century but has her own reasons for not wanting to be anywhere else, and Xandra, who fits in very well as a strong and independent young woman but who doesn’t really like the ‘ultra-modern lifestyle’ and would have preferred to live in the Georgian era. It turns out that time-travel has been at work here, and will be again, courtesy of Laura, who tries desperately to sort out her own problems and those of Xandra, who has become the target of a gang of villains.

There’s romance, history, mystery and time-travel as the story moves from the 21st century to the 19th and back again throughout the narrative, a complicated plot well-handled by the author. Can Laura and Xandra overcome the obstacles in their respective paths and find happiness? Not for me to say here, but I recommend the book.

Loved this. Not normally my genre but was soon drawn in to the tale of Laura, a castaway from the early 1800s, who discovers a slit in time and travels to the modern era. It's a time-travel romance featuring two friends and the men they are attracted to.

Ms Faversham writes well, with a pace that keeps you turning the pages as Laura's new life unfolds. When a friend, Xandra, takes on a gang of robbers and one of them comes after her, Laura decides to hide her in 1815, shortly before the battle of Waterloo.

Travelling between the two eras comes at a cost, and Laura must both make sure that Xandra has arrived safely and put right a wrong she committed, and which cost her the man she loved, in her previous life.

This is a good easy-reading romance and I enjoyed it very much.

The first thing I would like to say is that I love the cover.

I think this book deserves 4 solid stars. Those who have seen my other reviews know that I use stars sparingly, and that I don’t give out stars for friendship or for how well I like the author. I give stars based solely on the book itself.

Personally, I love time-travel; I would be overjoyed if it were not something available only in fiction stories. I like how the author has a parallel story taking place in 2010. The author has contributed original ideas regarding the whole time-travel explanation, with some interesting details. She herself admits she likes the historical aspect of the book better than the contemporary one. I found that was true when I wrote my book, as well. I think this author has done a better job than I did with the contemporary aspect of her book. In my book, I had a harder time feeling “at home” writing about the present; I know that sounds weird. Anna doesn’t seem to have that problem and her contemporary story feels as true to the reader as her historical storyline. And yet, the historical story is still much more interesting for me.

Her historical hero, Adam, reminds me a little of the hero in The Black Moth. I mean that as the greatest of compliments, for I did love Sir Anthony Ferndale. The four main characters were lovable and sufficiently different from each other. The characters were nicely developed, and I enjoyed all of the interaction with the secondary characters, as well. I wouldn’t mind getting dropped into her made-up world or meeting any of her characters in real life.

What a beautifully written book. I instantly fell in love with the characters and cared about what happened to them. I loved the history, the little gems of information which sent me off to research further and the concept of the story. I found it believable even though it’s a work of imagination and fiction. Hide in Time is a must read for all those looking for a well written book in which to lose oneself. Highly recommended.

I love time travel romance books and this one has some interesting and complex quirks as to the explanation of the working, which are elemental to the structure of the story, and make it a more interesting read. Enjoy 👍💜

if only we could choose our time

I really liked the characterization. All of the characters were fully rounded and believable. I found the steps to going back and forth in time rather tedious. I also did not understand the invisible parts. All in all it was an exciting premise to base the book.

Hide in Time

Laura moves from the future to the past. She is from the past but as she visits there she is invisible. She is more suited for the future. As her now love is a descendant of her first love from the past. Only author Anna Faversham can keep a person’s interest in a time travel book.

After misjudging the man she loves, Laura Yager, a girl who lives in England in 1814, decides to leave to America but her ship sinks and she finds herself in England in 2009. Thanks to the help of a handsome psychologist fascinated by her tales, she accepts her new life and opens an agency to help people find their soul mate. One day, she meets Xandra, a young girl who reminds Laura of herself, she feels somehow they are linked. That is why, after a robbery and fearing that Xandra’s life is in danger, Laura shows her a portal to go back in time and be transported to eighteenth century, the century where she lived and ran away from.

I love time travels. I can tell this kind of novels are probably my favourite books. That is why I am truly sorry to say that this one disappointed me a lot. The plot is interesting and I was very curious to see how things would be developed but nothing captivated me. The first part of the book was pretty boring and slow. The second half was better but it did not drag me in anyway.

The author switches between the present and the past to describe all the events but it is not always clear and a bit annoying. Every time I had to recall what happened before and what things were important to remember to understand what followed. Sometimes I had the impression I had to guess what happened!

None of the characters captured me. Xandra and Laura, who are supposed to be the main characters have not the traits of principal characters. I would have preferred more strength, more determination in both of them. They seemed to me weak and always in need of assistance. The two Leigh-Fox brothers were a little bit more interesting (especially the evil one) because of their secrets and weird actions, but I did not find a noteworthy hero. To be honest, this is a real shame because I believe it is essential to have a hero or a heroine readers can rely on or dream about. I personally need a person who can make a difference.

Being this just my personal opinion (and despite my negative comments), I think people who enjoy time travel stories might give this one a try, at least to prove me wrong!

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great story that is half about the relationship between two women that start of as a matchmaker (Laura) and client (Xandra) that eventually develop a great friendship. The other half is about lost love and misunderstandings that ruined Laura’s relationship with a man she was deeply in love with. The story is set in England.

The story starts in modern times and chronicles Laura’s work as a match-maker agent that puts people together based on their personalities. She soon becomes good friends with one of her clients, Xandra. Xandra sometimes talks about how it would have been better to have been born earlier, as things were simpler and less complicated then. It turns out that Xandra is also quite good a Jitsu and has a few run ins with criminals.

The story explains how Laura was planning to marry, but believe that her husband to be was a liar and a philanderer. She sailed on a ship to go to America in 1814, however, the ship is wrecked and Laura manages to get to shore. But when she gets here, she finds that it is almost 200 years in the future.

Much of the happenings I the story seem a little random, but I soon found out that Laura has some plans in mind. After meeting Xandra, who managed to get herself in the crosshairs of a criminal organization, she thinks of having Xandra take her place back in 1814 where she left her old life.

Turns out that she found out how to travel back to almost the exact time, but nobody can see her. It appears that you can only travel in time once, returning makes it so that you pretty much a ghost.

The story is fairly light and most everyone in Laura’s circle is kind and understanding. There is only one person that knows Laura is from the past, Matt, who happens to live in the same house that Laura grew up on 200 years earlier.

I enjoyed the story and was always interested to find out what was going to happen next. There are a couple of things that threw me though. In a flashback, when Laura came on shore after the shipwreck, Matt was there and took pity on her. A guy that happens to live in her old house? There is also no explanation about how Laura finds out how to travel back to her old time. I’m thinking that may have been in a chapter that hit the editing room floor?

Even so, I would read more stories by the author, as I liked the way the story is written and how she made me care about the characters.

Laura has a regret and it isn't easy to fix. Xandra needs a safe place to hide. Two problems: one solution.
Misjudging the man she loves, Laura leaves for America in 1814, but is shipwrecked in the English channel and washed ashore in 2009. Too late, she learns the truth about him.
This book was too slow, the characters were a bit boring and I could not connect with any of them. The back and forth between time was a bit confusing.
The writing was okay, but there was nothing that jumped out at me. I did not feel anticipation for the next page, mostly, I just wanted to finish it and get it over with. I can't say exactly what it is missing except theres no passionate writing. This is just my view and others may like or love, cannot say.[[ASIN:B00A3E925M Hide in Time]]

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the very fun twist on the more common time travel stories where the journey is into the past. This journey from the past into our present is brilliantly done and I love how Faversham pays attention to the changes in the English language over the past 200 years. Laura’s difficulties with modern turns of phrases was very well done and made me laugh a few times. There were a few, interesting plot twists that might have been unexpected, but the author did give away a key element a little too soon for my liking.

For those who enjoy clean romance and historical fiction, it's worth checking out.

I enjoyed this story about two women who have changed timelines. One moved forward in time, and the other went back in time. The author's handling of time travel was fresh, and the cause-and-effect plot twists were intriguing. This is one of my favorite time travel romance books I read this year.

What can I say? This should have been right up my street as I love time travel stories and with the protagonist arriving from the past to the present day, it was a bit of a change. But it felt like there was something missing.
I didn’t warm to any of the characters at all and there were events that were unusual enough to be mentioned but lacking any clarity and drifting into another scene without explanation, resolution or any clue to why it was mentioned in the first place.
I sort of felt as if I had to read the author’s mind at times. The ability and conditions to time travel were sort of explained but as an afterthought.

I rarely give up on a book but at 100 pages in, I just wasn’t interested in finding out what was happening anymore.
