I think this might be the sweetest Stiles Stilinski I've seen. I loved the conceit of Stiles as someone fixated on Craiglist Missed Connections, which I'd not heard of before. It's a tale about healing, not overdone, but touching and sweet and feel-good. The voicing for both leads is very well done and the general development of the relationship mellow without ever feeling slow.

Bottom line: highly recommended for those who like: hurt/healing, slow-burn, or just feel-good Sterek. Are there any Sterek fans not included on that list?

"Victory arms!!"

description

What started out a bit quirky, cute quickly turns into something more serious. This showcased why these two are made for each other so perfectly, despite the different settings or background histories we've all come across.

Derek's psyche is particularly scarred and traumatized by Kate. Not that he shouldn't be or isn't in all the other stories we've read, but the subsequent fallout from her betrayal has severe ramifications here.

So yes this had humor but also a lot of heart. There's great poignancy amongst the flailing - and I loved it!

This story reminded me why I was hesitant to read fanfic in the first place. The story was original, the characters vibrant, the humour spot-on, and the feels fantastic, but the - how shall I put this? - creative use of grammar and punctuation, as well as the excessive use of sentence fragments made my brain itch. Worse, the use of emoticons instead of words made me fear for the future of the English language.

I want to give the cute friends-to-lovers story with the great characterization and witty phrasing 4 stars, but the use of emoticons offend my delicate sensibilities and dragged down the overall rating. Still, this story was made of \o/ \o/ \o/.

This AU Sterek fic managed to capture the angst of Derek’s past perfectly, while levelling the overall tone with feelings of hope, good humour and plenty of awkward charm from Stiles’ end.

Once again, these two are so very lovely together, reaffirming to me that they really are, and probably forever will be, my OTP!

I am writing this with the biggest smile on my face. Absolutely delightful.

Set in an AU were Werewolves are known and integrated. Stiles is a flailing social reject at college who finds himself alone and lonely once Scott discovers his Allison. Derek is a werewolf who lost his mind and spent seven years feral (because, you know, Kate Argent seduced him and burned his house down with his family in it - I think you get to lose your mind for a while from that, its a free go crazy pass). He is trying to prove to "The Council" that he can reintegrate into society and does not have to be institutionalized - but he is a completely withdrawn social reject with anti-social tendencies. Through a series of fated crossings and Stiles' quirk of posting on the Missed Connections section of Craig's List a very touching friendship forms between them.

Laugh out loud comical, laugh out loud awkward, marked by lingering sadness and loneliness and tentative feels. Butterflies for both of them discovering each other. And this is my first Sterek - in the plethora of Stereks I have read - where I can honestly say, I really liked how Laura is portrayed - she feels real and not exaggerated or annoying. (And the blurb is correct - Scott, amazingly, gives good relationship advice in this fic.)

Just a lovely feel good read, especially for anyone who knows what its like on the fringe of a social circle unable to connect. And the glee when you finally do - in your own social circle.

So two things happened while reading this.

1. I decided it was time for another Sterek binge.
2. I feel a real need to investigate Craigslist Missed Connections.

Loved this. Loved Derek and Laura. Derek and Stiles. Derek in general and even Scott managed to be a non asshole. Really good AU where werewolves are part of society and Derek got lost for a while and is trying to make his way back but needs a little help.

It's cute and funny but very much OMG CAPITALS ARGGGGGHHH!!!!! and \o/\o/\o/ and *blink**blink**blink* and OMG OMG OMG and \o and even /o\ and...I found that all somewhat frustrating.

Stiles is a bit much, but the story is a light quick read.

This was a good idea for an AU and I enjoyed the short read. It made a nice distraction this evening for an hour or so. This was told from both Derek and Stiles' POV alternating throughout.

Despite enjoying it, I think I found Stiles a bit TOO flailing and hyper and at times at the beginning I thought maybe he sounded a bit too babbling and "OMG", like a 13 year old girl - don't get me wrong, I love me some flailing, embarrassing, hyper, talkative Stiles, but this took it to the next level at the beginning.

It was a good story and you got a sense of a developing relationship between them but it was less of the UST kind and more of the developing friendship kind if that makes sense. I thought considering what Derek had been through and his difficulty interacting/talking/trusting etc, what happened at the very end was maybe a bit soon/sudden? But then hey, I'm not really complaining as it wraps it up quite nicely.

Anyway, overall I enjoyed it, it just wasn't my fave portrayal of Sterek.

This did not start off well for me. But I am so glad I stuck it out! Cute, and very emotional.

This was lovely. Definitely the Stiles's-talkativeness-draws-Derek-out-and-makes-him-relateable idea taken to extremes, but it was delightful to read.

I enjoyed very much that several of their initial meetings wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the intervention of Laura and Scott (intentional or otherwise) as this just added to the fantastic "what-if" vibe created by using the Missed Chances section of Craigslist. Lovely.

Very sweet, very hopeful story. This is one I'm definitely going to keep in mind for those days when I hate the world and need to be reminded that not everyone sucks. ;)

Favorite Quotes:
But getting information from him is not unlike Atreyu trying to pull Artax out of the Swamp of Sadness.

Stiles's smile is lightning-quick and he says, "It's just... '
All parameters of normal'... I would fail that test spectacularly."

Derek looks down at him and wonders when, exactly, Stiles became imperative to his survival.

"We are where we are. I like to think that where we are is Happy. Maybe we can just take it from there."

"I like Happy." Stiles responds. "I actually wouldn't mind staying in Happy for a while."

It was a cute story of how Stiles accidentally meets Derek, writes to him on Craiglist and Laura facilitates their meeting. Then Stiles slowly becomes a part of Derek's life, helping him overcome his phobia of humans, crowded places, noisy events, etc. so as not to be institutionalized by the Council of weres. I mean, compared to Stiles' energetic and hyperactive behaviour, anything else will look normal. Had its funny moments.

Would have given it 4 stars if it weren't for all of the \o/ :))) word!word etc. It was too much and I found it took away from the story

Really liked this one. Derek is struggling to come back from being feral, lonely Stiles finds that helping him is good for both of them.
