Not Faking it with Jules

Rate this book
Jules:
It all started with a foolproof plan and ended in a dumpster fire. How did I screw things up so badly?
Two words.
Leo Dorsey.
With his disgustingly perfect lips, crystal blue eyes, and the type of hair that begs you to run your hands through it.
But that attitude… whew! He growls more than he speaks.
When he approaches me with a proposition, I have a decision to make. I can either help him get his ex-girlfriend back and he’ll return the favor by getting me an interview for my dream job, or I can remain stuck in my little hometown of Blueberry Pointe.
Sounds easy enough, right? Except nothing is easy with Leo.

Leo:
I needed one thing from Jules. Show me what a woman wants in a relationship while acting as my fake girlfriend, and I'd give her a chance she wouldn't otherwise have.
She gets the job and I get the girl. We both walk away happy and with a new start to life.
It’s a solid plan until it isn’t.
The problem is, I realized too late in the game, there’s nothing fake about having your heart broken by Jules Becker.
Now, I just need to make her understand that faking it isn’t an option anymore.

Micki is a small-town Iowa girl with a flair for the dramatics. Her favorite thing to do is people watch and make up romantic scenarios in her head. She loves her family, coffee and tacos.

When not reading, writing or watching Korean zombie movies, you can usually find her supporting one one of her five kids as they sing, dance or act on a stage somewhere. While her kids were born with stars in their eyes, the idea of being the center of attention makes Micki want to pass out.

Her other hobbies include wrestling with her two American Bulldog rescues, Ozzy and Luna, or begging her cat, Cora, for attention.

Micki is obsessed with growly alphas and the strong women who set them free.

Such a fun RomCom! This book has two of my favorite tropes: grumpy/sunshine and fake relationship! This small town romance is filled with so many laughs and tons of heart - loved it!

After reading book one, I couldn’t wait for this one - the story of happy-go-lucky Jules and growly Leo. It was worth the wait!

Leo and Jules are about as different as night or day. Or so they think.

Jules Becker and Leo Dorsey come to an agreement to become fake girlfriend and boyfriend in order for Leo to win back his former girlfriend. . In return for her part in the ruse, Leo promises Jules an interview for a much desired job. Raise your hand if you think this is a great idea. Right, not so much. This fun rom-com is just a fun second book in the Blueberry Pointe series that author Micki Fredericks has written and is a quick and fun read.

Of course things get complicated along the way and both Leo and Jules deny to the other that they really do care about one another. This causes a lot of misunderstandings and difficult situations to arise along the way and the reader is left wondering if these two will finally figure it out and get their lives together. Thankfully, they do.

This is a really fun and entertaining book to read and hits all of the rom-com requirements. Steamy and hot at times, filled with angst and regrets, until finally love conquers all to unite the two who obviously should have been together from the start. Great summer read and one that has me anxious for number three in the series.

Thanks to the author for a free advance copy for my honest review. I loved it.

5 Star review of Not Faking It With Jules (Blueberry Pointe #2) by Micki Fredericks
Micki Fredericks is a new author to me and I am surprised that I have not come across this author books before. This was an entertaining, well written story and I quickly became hooked on the story.

When Jules Becker agrees to help Leo Dorsey out by pretending to be his fake girlfriend, neither of them know the complications that are set in motion. He tempts her by promising that he can help her get an interview for a job which will mean she can finally leave Blueberry Pointe.

It all seems simple enough until fake becomes real and feelings evolve. I loved the connection that these two had as their relationship moved from fake to real. The banter was witty and the characters were so easy to relate to. I love stories set in small towns and this one left me with a smile on her face.

I absolutely loved this story, I just couldn't put it down and read a few pages any chance I got. I loved the banter, it was so funny. Not many books have me actually laughing out loud but this one totally did, if I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Jules was a free spirit, she said what she wanted and she had some brilliant comebacks. Leo loves to wind her up so the banter between these two was addictive to read. They were opposites and were really loveable characters for completely different reasons.

They have a great group of friends and family and they all love to be in each others business but also have a strong bond between them all.

Leo asks Jules to help him learn how to be a better boyfriend, and the reasons behind this are heartbreaking. This is Jules chance to get her dream job and do something with her art. So they embark on a fake relationship to learn where he's going wrong, only Jules manages to show him how to be her perfect boyfriend, and along the way they both catch feelings.

The attraction is steamy, and although they start off as enemies, their interactions are just foreplay for what's inevitably going to happen.

I will definitely be reading more of this author.

Not Faking It With Jules is the first book that I have read by Micki Fredricks. This book is the second in the Blueberry Pointe series. This book was fantastic and a page-turner. This book is a contemporary rom-com frenemies romance with spice. The characters were complex and had some crazy chemistry. The characters had me laughing and crying throughout this book. I was biting my nails, fist-pumping, and feel my heart breaking and soaring while reading this book. I loved the storyline; it was captivating, funny, and original. I couldn't put my e-reader down with this book. I had to know the who, what, where, and why.

I loved Jules in this book. She was a firecracker, loyal and sassy. I loved her attitude and how she loved with her whole heart. She was like sunshine in a bottle. Leo was grumpy, growly, and determined. I really felt for him with what he endured in his life. I got a kick out of their interactions throughout this book. They were like oil and vinegar together, but as the story progressed, it slowly turned into a powder keg just about to explode.

I am excited to read the first book in this series and checking out her other books. I loved her writing style it was unique and made me feel like I was in the story.- Brooke

This is the first book I have read by Micki Fredricks but it certainly won’t be the last. This is Leo Dorsey and Jules Becker’s fake to real romance set in the small town of Blueberry Pointe. This is book two in the Blueberry Pointe Series but I believe this book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone.
When Jules finds herself needing an interview to get her dream job she has no alternative but to accept Leo’s ( the man she needs to interview) plans and help him win his ex girlfriend back by becoming the new woman in this extremely hot man’s life.
Leo is the man who has it all, perfect lips, dark blue eyes and hair you want to run your fingers through but he is cocky and arrogant but his proposition is going to be hard to turn down.
This should be easy, we both get what we want and we walk away or do we ……….
What follows is a well written, entertaining story with characters you will find you’re laughing and crying with. It’s steamy, it’s witty but more importantly it’s a slow burn love story. I was captivated from the first page and I’m looking forward to reading more by this author as soon as time permits.

Jules and Leo are definitely complete opposites but you know what they say, opposites attract. Leo is struggling with his breakup, and is determined to get his ex back, which is why he makes a deal with Jules, if she will help me become a better boyfriend, he'll get her an interview that she so desperately wants, so what could go wrong?! Turns out these two are actually perfect for each other despite the fact that they are doing their best to deny it. I love the banter between these two and found myself laughing a lot during every interaction as Leo knows how to wind Jules up like no one else. There's also some angst to get my emotions up & running, and even some heat as well. If all that goodness isn't enough, they have a great supporting cast who supports them throughout the story with a kicker of small town charm, and maybe just maybe there's a happily ever after in the cards for them! I LOVED every minute of this story, and everyone needs it in their lives that for sure since I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is the second book in the series. It was so good. The next Becker sister is up. One of my favorite things about this book is the humor. I laughed quite a lot especially with Jules and Leo. They may start off as enemies to lovers, but soon forced proximity bubbles up all sorts of feelings. My heart went out to Leo. He feels like he needs to be shown how to be a boyfriend to gain the love of his life back because he is broken. He needs to realize the right person makes those broken pieces feel whole again. I really loved the way Jules made Leo feel about himself. Such a beautiful thing. Leo as a cat dad made this cat lover swoon! I loved seeing how the characters in the first book are enjoying their HEA. Briar is still a pistol and a sassy thing. I loved it!! She lays down the law. I had a hard time putting this book down. The characters sucked me right in. The agreement may have been to fake it, but soon those fake feelings feel all too real. Poor Leo has no clue what hit him. This a must read!

ARC Review

I was lucky enough to get a ARC for this book and I could not put it down. Jules and Leo had my interest from the first book but I just loved reading their story.

They did not start off the normal way and their banter towards each other was unmatched. I loved seeing Jules show Leo that someone could care for him and that neither of them really cared what others thought of them💕

Jules was someone I could easily relate to and I just wanted to cry for her sometimes , no one deserved a happy ending more than these two🥰

The side characters were fantastic and I am praying for a Cash and Sophie book!!!!👏

Not Faking It With Jules was so good. It was a really sweet and fun story to read. Both characters were so complex and unique. They were fun and easy to love. Their banter and constant arguing was amazing. I loved the way Jules helps Leo bloom and open up. Their relationship was really sweet. The story wasn't super spicy but it made up in awe worthy moments and Leo making me swoon with his overprotectiveness and grumpiness. If you are looking for a fun and romantic read, I highly recommend this one.

Aw hell no.

I understand having a traumatic childhood but it is EXTEMELY irresponsible and unrealistic that instead if getting therapy, two broken people can heal each other by loving them so hard that the other stuff doesn't matter. Fuck off. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is dealing with actual mental health problems and damage and can't figure out why it's a bad idea to jump into a relationship with red flags.

If you're going to write this bullshit, market it as fantasy, not contemporary. At the very least, throw in some trigger warnings and the phone number for a domestic abuse hotline.

But what really got me was the miscommunication trope. That's a deal breaker for me.

Jules and Leo are like oil and water but really it is foreplay for their future. Leo thinks he wants his ex but with his upbringing he doesn't know how to show his feelings. The Becker sisters and family bicker but love hard. When Leo goes to Jules to ask her to help teach him what he feels is missing they enter into a situationship that morphs into real feelings. Fake turns to real and then it all implodes on them. This is a story of finding your person and recognizing when that happens. This is a HRA that puts a smile on your face.

Fake relationship
Romcom
Small town
Grumpy/sunshine

This story flowed well and was easy to read. We get all the small town fun
Leo thought the perfect way to get his ex back was to fake a relationship with Jules. We all know how that will turn out. Still a fun and entertaining read.

Jules character was smart, sassy and the sunshine in this duo. Leo was the grumpy one. Opposites that were unknowingly perfect for each other.

I love supporting local authors, and this is one I am happy to give 4 stars to. I really liked it! Only thing that kept this from 5 was the lack of transitions between chapters. Sometimes I had whiplash trying to figure out how much time had passed between chapters without indication. Otherwise the writing was good and very enjoyable. Loved the story! I wanted a longer ending because it was so sweet :)

One big thing I didn't like is it wasn't always clear who was talking because the format was weird. Also they just kept saying Midwest without giving an actual state. I would have liked to see more of their time together during the snowstorm as well.

Jules and Leo have friends and family in common..they definitely rub each other the wrong way. Jules has big plans for her future and really wants them to work…eventually. Leo has a rough past and has the emotional scars to prove it. When these two come to a fake dating arrangement we all know how this is going to turn out. This was a cute quick read with witty banter and a fun story. The characters played well off of each other and had fun chemistry. The side characters were full of personality and I definitely want to get to know them better. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
