Are you one sketchy mofo or know someone who is? Then this book may be for you. This is a book about unveiling lies with nonverbal cues. It can also be a book about being a better liar...if that's your kind of thing.

I have this weird obsession with trying to catch people lying. It's like a game to me and I think I'm pretty decent at it. My favorite thing is watching people on tv that have been accused of a crime because then I can play my lying game. Fun times!



I'm usually right about their guilt. I'm not sure how I do it, but I think it has something to do with being raised around compulsive liars. The author actually says that your upbringing (being surrounded by liars 24/7), can make you a good lie detector in adulthood. Being lied to sucks but at least I got a conciliation prize out of it. =)


There are a lot of subtle things that give liars away and this book shows you some nonverbal red flag cues to watch out for. For most of us, our subconscious already picks up on these cues, thus giving us a signal that something is "off" about the person. This is the same thing as having a "gut feeling" or a "hunch." Most people ignore these signals because the logical side of the brain kicks in to explain away the feeling. Our brains are very noncommittal.


I saw this ebook on Kindle Unlimited and had to have it. I already knew many of the red flags (bc I'm a little obsessed with the subject) in the book but I thought it was very informative.

"In a 2004 study researchers found that liars are much more talkative and use a third more words than people telling the truth. This is because liars tend to provide more and more detail to convince you of their lie. The most effective lie detection technique is to stay quiet and listen. You may want to see how the other person fills the silence."
