Superman trains his young sidekicks to become Super Heroes! Bizarro comes to Earth and makes a mess of Metropolis! Jimmy Olsen finds out that being Superman's pal means help is only a shout away!
The genre of their book is obviously fiction as we don't have a real superman who flies to our rescue every time someone calls for help. The graphic novel is pure fantasy but what child doesn't like to pretend they have superpowers or pretend they have a best friend who does?
This books target audience is early readers, it has big, bold text and easy words that would be no problem for beginning readers.

Text-to-text This comic like book reminded me of the old Archie comic books I use to love as a child. I don't remember much except that I loved reading about the day to day of the group of friends. Of course, the group was always supportive and helpful just as in the superman book.
Text-to-self This book reminded me of the book "Supergirl" by Norma Fox Mazer I read in the 1980's. I remember I had seen the Superman movies and I begged my mom for this book about Supergirl. I must have read it 3 times that summer. It really made me ponder what were all the people hiding that I saw every day, did they have superpowers, were they sad, happy?
Text-to-world In this book superman is teaching the young superheroes how to help their communities and the world. This lesson seems to be universal for adults to train children how to be responsible and caring for those less fortunate in our communities.
I didn't know there was a dogman/Captain underpants version of Superman lol. It was interesting but I think the humor went over my daughter's head and wasn't my cup of tea. It was fun to see such a different style for what is normally such a serious comic
Not being a Superman fan I wasn't expecting too much here but was pleasantly surprised with this "first" easy reader comic book. An amusing story that made me chuckle and will certainly keep the interest of beginning reader fans. The main story is interrupted once with a two page short and the text is big, bold and easy on young eyes. Includes a large cast of characters from the Superfamily giving Jimmy Olsen a feature role and the Teen Titans get a cameo.
Putting the "comic" in comic book, this hilarious send-up of the DC Comics universe is ridiculous, yet crazy funny. If you're tired of serious, staid superheroes, give this a try.
