Okay....now to keep it short, i wud say the book is "unbearably pathetic".
1)i've never in my life read such a draggy book which has nothing inside it. all the while i was searching for the story and it just gives me forty pages of dialougues that too is a mindvoice to oneself. the book came up to 212 pages only because of these long dialogues. And the best part is you can understand what the person wants to say only by reading the first line and last line of the dialogues.

2)secondly, the language...totally immature, only good part is that there is no grammatical mistakes. i feel the whole pages of dialogues being cut-pasted in ten different situations. Because all the person wants to say is the same thing, "i love you. don't leave me." These six words are elaborated in the form of 6000 words and delivered as one single dialogue.

3)As i mentioned earlier, i was searching for the story and for that i skipped through pages and tada!!! i didn't miss anything. (Dialogues, i told you!)it just ook me one day to finish the book. the book just says how two room mates, tamanna and Aleesha end up loving the same guy Akash. Akash loves Aleesha. Tamanna takes her revenge by talking ill abt Akash to Aleesha. Tamanna dies in a car accident. blame on Akash. heartbreak for the lovebirds. Akash proves himself innocent to Aleesha. Tada again!!!! Happily ever after. i can't figure what made the author write 212 pages for this...

4)lastly i wud like to salute the patience of all the die hard fans of this author.

There cannot exist a book more terrible than this. I've read another book by this author. That sucks too.

It's a stain on literature. I feel sorry for anyone who enjoys this author's works.

If you want to know why I disliked it so much, well, I've already ranted about it in a one-hour video and I don't have the energy to do it again. Just watch this roast/booktalk-

Just like Hollywood film-makers when it comes to making horror-genre movies are obsessed with the Exorcist theme..similarly Indian authors are obsessed with Bollywood cliches when it comes to writing Romantic novels. And Sudeep in an uncreative way doles out gallops of cliches in this book..So here's the wafer-thin plot: Akash loves Aleesha, Tamanna loves Akash, Tamanna manipulates Aleesha into believing Akash is cheating on her. You can guess the Climax, right ?

Things I hated abt this book:
1) Dialogues: The Dialogues resembles long boring speeches. There are even half page dialogues spoken by a CHaracter. Akash & Aleesha, talk like Shahjahan-MUmtaz rather than coupless from 21st Century.
2) Lost Interest in this book when akash reveals he is a poor who has to look after his sis & mom..Can you call a guy poor who visits CCDs, Pubs, 5star hotels, can flash customised msgs for gf in theatre & even has a Car.
3) The story is very linear & the characters either black or white. The writing is very Childish.

Things that I like abt this Book:
1) The Making out Scenes ;-)

Conclusion: If you are Bollywood-geek then skip this book..It won't offer you anything new.

Ordianry and Boring

"It Started with a Friend Request" is just an ordinary novel and Sudeep Nagarkar, the author fails to make an impression with it.
The story starts well with nice introduction of the characters but after few pages it losses its pace. In the book Nagarkar has made the characters giving long speeches almost everywhere. At some points when short conversations could have done justice, he unnecessarily dragged them and those long conversations look like speeches.
A lot more was expected from Sudeep Nagarkar in this novel in terms of content and its catchy title with a beautiful cover. But it completely lacks the intensity to make it a worth reading and that has made it just an average looking love story which is too predictable towards the end.

And Mr. Sudeep Nagarkar, you can write “Bastard” if your story demands it rather than writing it as “B******”. It does not make your novel vulgar or abusive, even as you are clearly explaining the love making scenes, writing “B******” simply looks childish .

Illogical Desi Romance novel.. Typical Bollywood style..!! Looks like a script of a movie rather than a novel !

There is a hero, a heroine and a villain. Hero loves heroine, heroine loves hero. The antagonist is another woman who loves the hero and attempts to make him hers, but hero rejects her. She plots revenge and manipulates and poisons heroine's mind and then dies. Naturally, Hero is a suspect here, so Hero and Heroine have misunderstandings. Two unnecessary characters come as friends from the beginning of the story, their only job comes in the end and they reunite our Hero and Heroine. End of story in less than 1000 words !
Why to write a whole book for this ?

There are many places where the readers need to remove their brains and keep it aside !

#1 Hero is poor and has a family to take care of and he cannot afford to quit his job where his female boss is in love with him even though he hates her advances, but he spends his time in CCDs, pubs, discotheque(where he meets the heroine), has a car, proposes to heroine in a theatre, books the entire seats for just the two of them, plays their own love story as a movie. I wonder how poor people are so rich !! :P

#2 Heroine stays with our evil woman as a roommate. Author has mentioned clearly time and again that the antagonist is a private person, doesn't speak much to our heroine, and they have had just minimal encounters with each other. But when the antagonist dies and hero is the suspect, our heroine who has been madly in love with him all this time does a massive unbelievable somersault and pointlessly accuses the hero of sexually abusing the antagonist and causing her death. How can she take the side of a woman she barely knew and accuse her own so-called "soulmate" ? Did she leave her brain in her hometown Kolkata itself ?

#3 For heaven's sake , does the hero even narrate all his lovemaking session details to his friend with minor details intact ? I have this doubt because the friend is the narrator and the entire story travels through his eyes !!

#4 Hero has a middle name. Not even the Heroine knows about it. What kind of love is this ? If the girl is so dumb that she doesn't even care about the hero's middle name, even a terrorist can make her fall in love with him and manipulate her easily ! And do you know why Hero loves her ? Because she is intelligent it seems !! ROFL :D

I can't stop myself from giving this book 5 stars. This book is super awesome and amazing! It's highly recommended to everyone to every age. Once you start reading this book you can't stop yourself. If you want the paperback you can ask me, I will give you. :) Now let's come to the story. I will give a short description of the story so that you get an idea of it! :)
So the story is about 4 persons, Akash (hero of the story), Aleesha (heroine of the story, I love her character 'cause she is also from Kolkata :P), Aditya (Akash's brother from different mother) and Tamanna (I can say umm.. Villain of the story). So it started when Aleesha went Mumbai to complete her Graduation. There she started living with her Family Friend, Tamanna. One day, Aleesha went out with Tamnna to explore Mumbai, then they at last came to a Disco where Aleesha met Aksah. Akash and Aditya had a bet that Akash can impress Aleesha. Aleesha and Aaksh were strangers to each other, but when Akash came to Aleesha he started falling for her. And Aleesha also started feeling for him. They exchanged thei BBM pins to ping each other on BBM. Akash worked for the Galaxy House under Tamanna. But Tamanna didn't knew that Akash talked to Aleesha and whatever happened between them. Later, Akash proposed Aleesha in such a sweet way! OMG! I wish someone would do the same to me. The prooposal was a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery sweet and cute one. Aleesha was very lucky to have someone like Akash with her. Akash loves Aleesha from the bottom of his heart, same with Aleesha. :D
Um, I don't feel like writing anything about Tamanna, you should read the book that's all I wanna say! It nearly made me cry.. This is probably the second book which made me cry. And the incidents are so precisely mentioned that I can nearly see the scenes in front of my eyes. The narration was very good. And the places where something sweet happened it made me smile. :)

I don't know why I read this .. but whatever be the reason .. I repent it.

The story doesn't even begin with a friend request!
The dialogs are blasphemous.
The supposedly romantic dialogs seemed right out of a c grade movie and game me physical pain.

The descriptions were irritating and infuriating.

This book became the stepping stone to my dislike for indian romance ..

I really hated this one.

This is the first phenomena on my Blog where I am reviewing a book before its release. :-) I am done reading Bestseller author, Sudeep Nagarkar's 3rd book of 212 pages right now. After "Few Things Left Unsaid" and "That's the way we met", "It Started with a Friend Request" is the 3rd book by Sudeep N. It is set to release on 17th July, 2013. And exclusively, this is the very first public review of this book. I feel honored to be a part of this book right before its release which has already been listed as Bestselling in the Pre-order section on almost all the E-commerce websites. The book is been published by Random Publisher which is Sudeep's publisher since his 2nd book. But now, all the three books of Sudeep Nagarkar is been published by Random House India. He is no more an author by Srishti Publication. And since he has tied up with RH India, we can see his progress. He is in media, television, newspapers, festivals etc.

Coming to the review, Sudeep Nagarkar is one author who has understood what his pet readers expect from him. Hence he is continuing to write love stories which is the bestselling genre among Indian readers. And in this genre, he is one of the authors whom people wait for. If all of you remember, I gave his first book 3 stars while his 2nd book which was a sequel to the first one grabbed only 2.5 stars from me. I was disappointed with the length of the book and the simplicity. Now after reading his latest book, I am happy that he has kept the story short and have done his best to tell lots of aspects in few words. His narration and language has improved a lot since his first attempt. But still, I find that not every sentence is crisp and perfect as it should be. He has great thoughts but as soon as he starts writing them, he writes like a Desi Guy and not like an epic writer. This section is where I would ask Sudeep Nagarkar to improve himself. Rest he is on the right track.

The story is wonderful. As the title says, I presumed that its the same crap which some debutante write about how Facebook stalking helped them get a girlfriend with whom they went through misunderstandings and patch-ups. But I was wrong. Sudeep has just mentioned in one paragraph that they added each other on BBM and directly met after that. Thank God! I could not have survived any cliche by him at this stage. There's no monosyllabic or mono-sentences chats pages after pages but a sweet romance story which will make you imagine the protagonist after every sentence. Even when there's a mention of the messages that the protagonists send to each other, they are more than half-page long which makes it a mini love-letter than a boring usual conversation that we ourselves do with our partner on daily basis. :-)

The surprise that Akash gives to Aleesha in theater is something that's very fresh and new. I have never read it before. That's the first thing that I liked in the book. Tamanna's first note for Deep in her Galaxy Tab is wonderful and the notes that are mentioned after that are also fine. The surprise and the twist that the story takes in the last 1/3rd part of the book is what made me feel that the book is above average and can be called a Good Book and an assured recommendation to all the love story lovers. The components such as of friendship, love, companionship, simplicity, love-making sequences, romance, sex, hanging-outs, trips, picnics, outings etc are satisfying in the book. A little corporate insight is also given but I won't say that the total justice is being done to it. Author could have kept it as the base but its just a part.

I liked Tamanna-Deep's sequence more than Akash-Aleesha's and it seemed to be more matured than the latter's. Coming to the drawbacks, as I said above, the sentence formation can be much better. Author is unable to convey all his feelings exactly in words. The difficulty that he faces in doing this is often visible in the writing. I found 2-3 grammatical mistakes in the book but its fine, it is avoidable. And Mr. Sudeep Nagarkar, you can write "Bastard" if your story demands rather than writing it as "B******". It does not make your book vulgar or abusive. If it's story's requirement, you can definitely write anything that's a taboo in society without caring for anyone. And next time when you write a love-making scene, do take help of a co-author as in all the 3 books, you have described the scene almost in the same manner. Rest, I would say that you have improved with every book that you have written. Cover page by Saurav Das is wonderful and lovely. The lyrics of your book's theme song is touchy but singer isn't satisfying. In all, I would give this book 3.5/5 and strictly recommend it for everyone who love reading Love stories by Indian authors. Go for it.

Thanks.

One word. Disgusting. I hate myself for reading such an awful, abominable, horrible (I can incorporate even more bad adjectives but this one review won't be enough) book. I'm not such a big fan of romance and this book made me lose hope in romance. All thanks to the author. Oops! Did I just call him an Author? Nah. My English classmates write better than him (And still we get just pass marks!) If my English teacher catch hold of his writing, he will definitely fail in the subject. That I'm sure.

And about the story, it is horrid. If you dare to call this stupid story "true love" just face the consequences. Because I can't just sit quietly if I heard that again.
Poor characterisation. Poor language. Yeah, Poor book.

My kind request to the author (I've to call him that because he had the guts to publish such book). Please do not try to write. Even if you write, no problem. Don't publish it.

I picked this book after reading that it was a best seller in it’s time. I could only realise one thing - the reading tastes have significantly change over the years.
The book was a disappointment, due to it’s sluggish characters, extremely baseless dialogues (which scream sexism at some places) and lack of connection from scene to scene.
The main characters Aleesha and Akash seem to have no clarity and their relationship feels extremely forced. The author tries to weave a suspense at the end, but fails miserably. Numerous parts of the book feel dragged and make no sense. This book would have been a winner in 2013 due to the emerging craze of Facebook and BBMs. But the dialogues, character development and story make it an irrelevant read in today’s time.

they said it is a A brand new love story ROFL ! one of the mokkaiest novel i've read in recent days ! if u are a movie addict & watched almost all films in past 10-15 years you'll find the entire book is a combined version of many tamil cinema scenes !

‪#‎Akash‬ ! - a boy who doesn't love girls with miniskirts ! instead he's interested in brainy girls ! he finds ‪#‎Aleesha‬ in discothe & gets love at first sight !
they exchange their BBM pins & will start to romance !

akash proposes her in movie theatre ! he makes a video clip on her & she's flattered ! ‪#‎facepalm‬
(remembered Baana kaathadi ! where samatha does the same to reunite with atharvaa )

deep - tammanna - yet another side track ! tammana loves deep one sidedly !
but deep rejects her ! (second heroine turned villi)

akash & aleesha break-up due to some misunderstandings ! & their friends Aditya & Krithika helps them to reunite ! & they lived happily ever after !

the only best thing in this whole book is their BBM messeges ! & tammanna's note in her galaxy tab !!

its surely not a page turner ! story line is much predictable !

Picked it up with excitement as my friend suggested it saying it was good but I was totally disappointed!

The book narrates the love story of Aleesha and Akash. From the very start, the book goes with an unbearably slow pace. There seems to be so much confusion in the story. Akash falls in love with Aleesha as soon as he lays eyes on her at the disc. Still when a group of boys fantasize about Aleesha during her stage performance, he claims to Aditya that these guys lust for her, her beauty and he fell for what she really is! Now, unless he is some person who can get a sneak peek of the soul, I dont understand how one can get to know such things just with a few minutes flirting in a disc!

The story is very predictable and more than half of it is just a drag! Except for the little deviation when it comes to Tamanna's story, where I could feel a suspense building, the rest was little boring. The narration isn't much engaging either

The only thing that manages to engage the reader is the little twist at the end of the story. I will suggest this to readers who are looking for a perfectly common love story!

||Book review||- 🍁 The book, It Started With a Friend Request By Sudeep Nagarkar, a love story, is a short read. You can read the book in less than two hours. The story revolves around Aleesha and Akash. The other characters are Aditya and Kritika. Aleesha and Akash are Love Birds. They both meet at Thrive disc in colaba in mumbai and then with a friend request on BBM and after some time, they both fall in love. Just like any other love story, their love story has its own twists.Tamanna, manager of Deep, creates the mess. Ohh! Now who is deep? How this deep connects with the story of Akash and Aleesha? Deep is Akash and Akash is Deep. How come so? You must be thinking.
.
.
.
🍁 The book also talks about the corporate politics and how corporate boredom can turn someone into an extremely bad person. Akash believes in ethics. What happens next, whether he pays the price of his morality or succeeds in life? To know answers to all these questions, read the book.
.
.
.

||Personal Insight||- 🌸 The book, It started with a friend request is a love story novel. After reading this, you would certainly want to be in love forever. The book has song mentioning, from Hindi Movie, Aakrosh released in 2010, titled, "Saude Bazi", very soulful song.
.
.
.
🌸 Although, story is worth reading and inspired by real incidents, it is an author's writing style which makes it more delightful to read. Majority of the book is story told by Aditya, who is friend of the hero of the story, Akash. An author has wrote the story with details, but still each line engages the reader more instead of getting bored by detailing. It could have been the other way around though. That is what I loved about the writing style of the author, how delicately he has striked the balance. Do read the book. A short read.

Okay kind of Book, I got this book because of the title of the book, since it had a connection to my life. The cover page of the book could have been much better, some kind BBM, FB, WhatsApp symbols, which would have been more eye catching and syncs with the title…. And now coming to the review of the book, all characters are well described at the beginning and a clear story telling. At some point it was very kind of too slow and many scenes were not logical at all. The author had tried to give the smallest details, but at many times he failed and it looked artificial. The effort to makes it humorous also did not work out, but at least very good try by the author. I expected a much better use of language by the author, since this is his third book, but it is only average piece of writing. The twist in the story is very good and the author has managed to describe the emotions very clearly as well. The vocabulary could have been better; over all it can be a good book for the first time readers.

Sudeep Nagarkar, the author of this fabulous sludge has won Youth Achiever's Award for writing in 2013. And I wondered if maybe he did offer his readers something. If I could remove layers and layers of colorless drab, if I could look beyond some exceptionally uninteresting writing, maybe… just maybe I may find some content… that is making this author a hit.

As I drowned myself in this 121 pages of phenomenally unimaginative work in hopes of finding some content, I found myself being questioned by my own conscience. I mean, how does a story about few twenty year olds living pedantic and uneventful lives make it to the printing press and sell million copies? How can someone who is getting published be so boring and unimaginative that he uses WhatsApp forwards for quotes and allusions?

It started with a friend request is juvenile, dull and a lame novel. This guy makes Chetan Bhagat seem like Niel Gaiman. The only reason to buy this book should be to use it as a support for your wobbly table.

Why am I reading such books these days? I couldn't find a love story after reading the entire book, am I lacking something to understand this book or what while every other person seems to be looking this book! One of the major flaws of the book has to be the narration and the narrator. The best friend of one of the protagonist is narrating the story and even he is fantasizing his best friend's girl.. The main story of the book seems not like love story and more of attraction and infatuation.. The side story is worse and hardly believable to the extent it's been portrayed in the book.. Writing is strictly ok and lot of times writing felt unnatural, even the title of the book has no significance at all. No characters will remain in your heart after reading the book and you won't be emotional too, hence the book is a let down.. one star for the cover n name of the book and another star for being better than the previous book I read which was worst of all..
