SCADA and Me is an educational book designed for "children and management" that informs about a system that impacts our daily lives. This system is called SCADA (Supervisory, Control, and Data Acquisition). SCADA systems are crucial to keeping facilities safely running in areas such as nuclear power, water filtration, electrical power, large scale manufacturing and other areas often identified as critical infrastructure.

This book educates children on an important technological topic that impacts the world around us but also contains satirical and humorous references aimed at educating people in management. Just because a topic is important does not mean it needs to be complex. SCADA and Me is a great book to excite children on the tech topic of SCADA and industrial engineering while helping management grasp the basics SCADA cybersecurity.

About the author

Robert M. Lee is a U.S. Air Force Cyberspace Operations Officer, Adjunt Professor at Utica College, and Director and Founder of the non-profit educational organization hackINT. He is currently pursuing a PhD in War Studies at Kings College London with research in control systems cybersecurity. He has presented at numerous international conferences and has published articles in global publications on the topics of control system cybersecurity, the future of cyberspace, and advanced digital threats. Robert is a lifelong student and educator passionate about the cyberspace domain.

Worst book ever written, don't believe the paid 5-star reviews.

Catherine explained why the book is mad. Read her comment for more details. The book simply should never have been written. It belongs next to "Cryptocurrency for Toddlers" on the bookshelf.

The author should be put in jail, and all the money should go to the artist (who is responsible for the only noteworthy part about the entire book).

I entered into the first reads giveaway for this book because I thought it looked interesting. I have friends that are in elementary education and thought they might want to use it in their classrooms. However, after reading this book I didn't even show it to them. I had some of my family and friends read the book hoping that they would find something positive about it. They did not. I even had people who were familiar with SCADA read the book. No one was impressed and said that it was not an accurate explanation of what SCADA is.

The immediate responses of readers was either "What?", "Huh?", or "Stupid."

When asked to elaborate on their response the main complaints about the book were as follows:
It seems like there is an agenda.
There is never a good explanation of what SCADA is.
It portrays that the everyday person can protect SCADA and this is not the case.
Left with more questions about SCADA after reading the book and not in a good way.

I find it highly disappointing because the author seems to be well educated and published. However, that was not shown in his writting. I really wish I could give this book a good review but it was terrible. I have nothing positive to say about it.

I simply love this book. That's why I published it for Robert M. Lee. It has a duality about it that intrigues. On the one hand it is a children's book in the manner of The Magic School bus series. On the other hand it is a simple introduction to SCADA systems and the need to protect them that can be easily consumed by managers and policy makers. Rob Lee has a winner here.
