It can happen in a flash. One minute she’s kissing her boyfriend, the next she’s lost in the woods. Sixteen-year-old Ellie Cox is losing time. It started out small…forgetting a drive home or a conversation with a friend. But her blackouts are getting worse, more difficult to disguise as forgetfulness. When Ellie goes missing for three days, waking up in the apartment of a mysterious guy—a guy who is definitely not her boyfriend, her life starts to spiral out of control.

Perched on the edge of insanity, with horrific memories of her childhood leaking in, Ellie struggles to put together the pieces of what she’s lost—starting with the name haunting her, Gwen. Heartbreakingly beautiful, this poignant story follows one girl’s harrowing journey to finding out who she really is.

Who wouldn't wish to read it after that book summary? As soon as I saw this book on NetGalley I knew that I had to read it (thank you Entangled Teen) because... Okay, do I really have to explain it? Girl is having a blackouts and waking up in the apartment of a hot guy. Who calls her Gwen. And her name is not Gwen. Don't you want to know what is going on?

Was it what I expected it to be? Yes and no. Fragile Line is a book you won't be able to put down until the last page which is a awesome thing in my opinion. Here are all the things that make this book worth your time.

- Brooklyn Skye has a way with words. Writing was perfect, she pulls you into her story and you are not even aware when did it exactly happen.

- Get ready to pull an all-nighter. Fragile Line is a book that is best "digested" in one sitting and, to be honest, you wouldn't want to do anything else until you finish reading it.

- Topic. Mental illness is not something you will usually find in young adult novels. If you are craving something different you should give this book a chance.

- Ellie. She will drive you crazy sometimes, you will scream at the pages of your book in frustration, but in the end you will understand her. She could have easily turn out to be cliche character, but Brooklyn Skye managed to found that golden middle ground.

- It reminded me a little it of this other amazing book I read recently, Unravel by Calia Read (you can see my review here).

Who should read it? Everyone who likes more serious topics in young adult novels. If you read and liked Entangled by Cat Clarke, Ellen Hopkins novels...

Quick gif review:

Full Review:
Usually, I write out my reviews after I've had a minute day or so to think about them. I'm really bad about doing a knee jerk reaction and realizing I was too generous later on. But no. I finished this book two hours ago. Since then I've: made my boyfriend nearly late for work because of the tears, matted the cats fur because I held her sobbing, ate chocolate (I hate chocolate), and stared out the window for longer than acceptable. This book hit me right in the feels. Wow.

I'm going to do this without spoilers because the revelations in the book are what really tugged at my heart strings and had me flying through the pages. So if my review seems short or off, just go with it and then go buy the book. I promise it's like omgwtfthefeelsyesplease.

This was me, just drowning in feels.

This book sucked me in SO fast. Usually I read multiple books at a time because I have a hard time concentrating on just one, but not with this one. I think it's the mark of a crazy good book if it can keep my interest for 20% or 30% before I have to switch books. This one kept it the entire time. Last night, I started reading this. I only meant to read a few chapters to get a feel for it before passing out. Did that happen? Nope. I stayed up until 2am (really strange for a elderly person twenty something like myself). I got to 80% in one night, y'all. That's bonkers. This morning, I voluntarily woke up earlier than normal to finish this book. The story has so many twists and turns. Brooklyn Skye is so good at building the suspense that makes you unable to put the book down. The need to know what's causing Ellie's blackouts and what's happening during them is fierce!

I'll be honest. Gwen and Griffin were my OTP. Gwen had a lot of shit she had to deal with. She was so raw and real. Both of the guys in this book were definitely romance material and sweet. But don't over-think that both word. There isn't a love triangle; at least not like you're expecting. I can't say much about the characters without giving it away. Just know that the characters and their stories are what made me enjoy this book so much. P.S. Can I claim Dani as one of my fictional BFFs?

This is a story that feels really real. The characters seem real. The issues seem real. All of this stuff could legitimately happen, so it's bordering on frightening. Brooklyn Skye does an excellent job at keeping the pace and delivering this story perfectly. If you're a fan of contemporary romance and like suspense, you'll love Fragile Line. It's a wonderful blend of fantastic elements.

**I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review. My thanks to Entagled Teen and Brooklyn Skye.

Holy Crap
Hoooooolyyyy Craaaaap.
When I read the summary to this book I was so excited to read it and huge expectations, and it came through for me.

It went through all the phases’s of Ellies mental disorder: Before she knew, Dealing with it, and starting the healing. Even though we (the reader) could see what she had a mile away, Ellie didn’t even see it as an option. For the first half of the book she only think she has blackouts, until she loses 3 days and her boyfriend Shane, thinks she cheated on him.
It’s one of those books that sucks you in and makes you feel everything the MC feels. For example I felt how scared Ellie was trying to remember what she had done while blacked out. I felt her need for Shane and for things to get back to normal.

But those were the good things, sadly there were a few inconsistencies, Ellie has a childhood best fried Dani, but throughout the whole book she’s hardly there and after Ellie gets diagnosed we don’t hear from her which is strange. If my best friend has a bad cough I’m already making her soup and buying balloons, yet Dani doesn’t care that her best friends life was falling apart? Also later in the book we find out during some of her blackouts she took drugs and alcohol , but when she wakes up she as no after taste or any symptoms of withdrawal.

Even with those cons, Fragile Line was still original and a must-read for everyone.

A copy of this book was given to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review

and now, for one of my favourite reads of 2017, i present to you........................FRRRRRRAGILE LINE!

OK, HERE WE GO!

Fragile Line, written by Brooklyn Skye, is a surprisingly dynamic, plot-driven and well executed book, all of which took me COMPLETELY BY STORM. I must say, before I purchased this book, I actually searched Goodreads for a very specific TYPE of book - and that is how I came upon this gem. Because it fell under a very particular theme, I already had a loose idea of what was happening with the protagonist and yet, DESPITE that, I STILL did not figure out exactly what was occurring! What I mean by that is, I'm extremely good at guessing plots, and this one had me REELING, alongside my friend who I roped into reading this. So, I expect this will have a similar effect on everyone else.

Fragile Line tells the story of sixteen y/o Ellie who is suffering from blackouts - all of a sudden, the protagonist is losing massive chunks of time and forgetting entire conversations and events, which makes for a very interesting premise. Do not be mistaken, books revolving around memory loss have been executed with a million and one angles, but none as complex and beautifully woven as this.

As Ellie navigates her way through this insanity, the reader does too, alongside her. In that sense, just as bewildering as it is for Ellie, it is for the reader, and it's this search for an answer which had me so invested. Skye could not have executed Fragile Line in a more perfect manner; the meshing together of a timeline filled with holes and the 'name-dropping' of hints along the way had me actually craving more. I also really enjoyed the romance angle, and wished it had more of a premise. I LOVED Shane and really wanted him to have more page-time.

As for the plot twist, it definitely did not fail to surprise me. I had a number of different theories, all of which fell flat, and it was actually the first time seeing this twist in a book, so it was super intriguing for me. There were some very dramatic scenes which had me #SHOOK and it seemed as though Fragile Line was almost perfectly proportioned. I'm impressed, to say the least, and actually sad that I have never come across this beauty until I took it upon myself to search for it.

Fragile Line is definitely a page turner, and I can't wait to do it all over again! Do yourself a favour and make yourself acquainted with this! It's a quick read and will want you wanting a second!

*based on an ARC edition

I was wildly impressed by Fragile Line. The novel takes us into the shared brain of Ellie and Gwen, who share the memories of horrific abuse in their childhood. The thing is, Gwen was created by Ellie to protect her from the pain; it's called dissociative personality disorder (what used to be called multiple personality disorder). Ellie starts experiencing blackouts, losing time, discovering things she did without remembering she did them. She meets a boy named Griffin who calls her Gwen. She punches her boyfriend's best friend and doesn't know why. Slowly memories start seeping in from the first 6 years of her life, and they start to paint a picture of why she is covered in scars and has no memory of why.
I have a degree in psychology, and initially I was concerned on how DID was going to be portrayed here. There is a lot of discussion among psychologists on whether or not it exists at all; there's only been two documented cases ever. Many more have claimed it but have been debunked. However, Fragile Line manages to illustrate the dichotomy of what is real and what is not for someone with this disorder. Gwen is an alter, created after Ellie was born, and thus we can think she's not real. But as I read the story from her perspective I felt truly sad for her, because she is as real as Ellie. I felt the most sympathy for Ellie's alter; more, in fact, than I did for Ellie herself.
If I have a complaint, it's not about the writing, or the story, it's about the character of Shane, who is Ellie's boyfriend and most likely the least understanding boy on the planet (until a doctor confirms what Ellie had been trying to explain to him throughout the first half of the book). If I told my boyfriend I was having blackouts, and losing time, and along with that I was exhibiting behavior totally contrary to my personality, and all he did was say I was making it up and I was a total bitch...well, I wouldn't care too much about whether or not he forgave anything I did. Seriously, if he loved her he would have listened to her when she told him something was really wrong with her. But other than that, Fragile Line was masterfully done. It was suspenseful, well-researched, and compelling.

I received a copy of this book to review for my stop on the blog tour at Donnie Darko Girl.

When I began reading Fragile Line, I had forgotten what the synopsis said and think my enjoyment of the story was enhanced from not remembering. All I knew was that after how much I adored Stripped, I'll read anything, and I mean anything, by Brooklyn Skye. I'd read her grocery list if she let me.

In Fragile Line we meet Ellie Cox who's beginning to lose more and more time with no memory of where it goes. I couldn't imagine how frustrating that would be. At first it's little things - she forgets to wait for her friend after school, for example - but it ends up becoming larger chunks of time, sometimes hours, even days. Instead of explaining to her family and friends what's happening to her, she makes up excuses about being tired and stressed from school.

This story astounded me with how well written it is and how real Ellie's struggle felt. It felt so real to me. My heart broke for Ellie and everyone who cares about her. Brooklyn Skye is an incredibly talented writer and pulls you into Ellie's nightmare to where you can't stop reading. For anything. I read this book in one sitting and got zero sleep, but it was so worth it. There was no place I could stop because everything in me resisted the very idea.

Seriously, if you haven't read Fragile Line, I advise you to grab a copy and start reading without taking a look at the synopsis. Just jump in with an open mind and don't look back until you've finished. This is an unforgettable novel of discovering who you are and reconciling your past with your present. My love for Fragile Line knows no bounds.

(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley.)
16-year-old Ellie is scared and confused by the blackouts she suffers from, which leave her waking up in strange places with no idea of where she has been or what she has done.
What is the cause of Ellie’s blackouts? And what happens to her when she’s not in control?

This book started out okay, but the last third was just weird.

Ellie was an okay character, and I felt really sorry for her and the way she was constantly getting these blackouts. I totally got how upsetting it would be to wake up with a tattoo and have no idea how you got it, and to not be able to confide in anyone would be awful.

The storyline in this was pretty good, although it did remind me of another book – ‘The Half-Life of Molly Pierce’. The girl in that – Molly, suffered from exactly the same medical condition as Ellie, and even had the same unnerving experience of coming out of a blackout to find herself driving a car.
I did like this story for the most part, but the last third was just odd, and I didn’t really like it. In theory it might have been a good idea, but for me it just didn’t work out well, and I ended up feeling quite confused by the ending.
There was some romance, but it wasn’t really a really good romance so much as just a part of the storyline.
The ending was odd, and I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. That last third of the book, and the strangeness and confusion of the ending really ruined this book for me.
Overall; okay story, but the ending ruined it for me,
6.5 out of 10.

I got this e-ARC throughout Netgalley from publisher in exchange of an honest review.

HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.

Okay, so, basically, this is impossible to review without any spoilers because synopsis don't give much away. In fact, this review will probably be one big spoiler so if you don't feel like finding out some of the main points in the book, read no further. Just know that I am so amazed that this book kept the same pacing and the same quality to the very end, as well as it didn't make any awkward plot twists and added something completely unnecessary. The boys in the book were sweet. Like, actually fucking sweet. Both of them. And I don't think the romance in this book can be called a 'love triangle' because the book is fucked up so it doesn't follow any pattern the other YA books do. (Okay, this part will not be included in my NetGalley feedback. Too much cursing, I am sorry.) So basically, it was a four star book for me at the beginning and it stayed the four star book till the end. Now onto the full, spoilerish review where I can reveal my madness completely.

Wow, what can I say about this book, but WOW! The synopsis gave very vague information which was terrific because it really allowed your mind to wander while you were reading this fantastic story. Unlike Mara Dyer which was a poorly done psychological thriller, Fragile Line was wonderfully executed and more along the lines of Shutter Island.
Feeling what Ellie was feeling, feeling crazy and out of control only heightened my senses throughout the story. Trying to solve the mystery of what is happening to her and how to not loose herself forever was both mentally and emotionall exhausting, in a good way, like after a really fantastic morning run.
The love story was done remarkably well for being a YA book. It felt real,it felt teenage, but it felt like teenage first love on the brink of being so much more. Each character had their own demons to deal with and those all unraveled and concluded beautifully. I have to say I really feel satisfied after finishing Fragile Line.
Once Ellie finds out what is happening to her all hell breaks lose, literally! Of course like most things, when it rains it pours, and boy o' boy did it pour on Ellie, trying not to loose everything she has, including herself, while trying to guard secrets she didn't know she had.
I would recommend this to anyone who loved Mara Dyer or to anyone who was like me and loved the Mara Dyer concept, but wished the book was better written. If you loved Shutter Island with Leonardo DiCaprio, prepare yourself because Fragile Line will keep you on the edge of your seat just like it did!
I didn't want Ellie's story to end and I feel sad that I have to leave her, but glad that she stayed long enough to let me get to know her.

One of my favourite publishing companies is Entangled Publishing and they have released a new edgy content teen fiction novel which had me so excited and once I started reading it, I could not put it down as it was so awesome. The novel takes us into the life of Ellie who we learn has been experiencing black-outs and during these black-outs she can't remember a thing of what happens. Normally it's for a few hours or so and happens every so often when she feels under pressure or stressed. Lately though, it is happening more and more and soon the black-outs will get out of control and last for hours on end and eventually days. What is happening on these black-outs and why can Ellie not remember a thing of what is going on ? Are the black-outs connected to her birth as we discover Ellie is adopted and she heads off to research her birth family as Ellie's mind is blank prior to six years old and she can only recall moments. Is this all connected or is something bigger at play ?
Find out in this awesome and amazing novel that will explore the area of Mental Illnesses , Lost Memories and Peer Pressure by Brooklyn Skye which has readers walking a "Fragile Line" as they turn from page to page.

Wow. Phew! This book was a serious emotional roller coaster and I loved it from the first page! I was sucked in by the sample and I had to run back to Amazon to download the rest of the book. Brooklyn Skye knows how to write deep characters that leap off the page. I had my doubts on how this would turn out and half expected it to be hokey but the author delivered. It was genuine, it cut to the heart, and I laughed and cried with the characters and I felt like I was there with them every moment. This is a story that's going to stick with me and haunt my thoughts for some time. Excellent!!!

Wow, this book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was trippy in the most awesome way, and it was so well done. I can't say much without giving anything away, and while I loved Shane, I fell pretty hard for Griffin. This book was definitely an emotional ride, and I recommend it if you're looking for something totally different in YA.

'Fragile Line' is a unique and compelling young adult novel that blends an intense mystery alongside realistic fiction dealing with mental health issues. The book follows our heroine, Elizabeth "Ellie" Cox, who has been experiencing blackouts - chunks of missing time and memories - for the majority of her life. Normally they were small things like going to bed at night or doing a project at school. Now the blackouts are coming on stronger and closer together. Ellie's starting to lose critical time periods - hours and eventually even days - and she has no idea what has happened. She wakes one morning to find that she got a tattoo sometime the previous day, but she has no memory of it at all. Worse yet, she disappears for three days straight and wakes up in a random guy's apartment with absolutely no idea of how she got there or what had happened while she was gone. With her blackouts causing serious problems in her life, along with fragments of memories from her childhood and evidence of her doing things she never would do, Ellie must decide whether to keep hiding from her secrets and her past - or she must confront them head on and learn the heartbreaking truth of what happened to her when she was young as well as what the blackouts really are.

I found this novel to be a fantastic blend of realistic contemporary fiction and a powerful mystery. All aspects of the story line had me completely engrossed in the book and I couldn't stop reading until I found out what was really happening to Ellie and why. The way that the author wrote about Ellie's problems and eventually her disorder was great - it was woven into the mystery and the plot of the story - giving the reader a better understanding of a serious mental illness without sounding boring or clinical. Adding in the mystery behind the blackouts and Ellie's determination to discover the truth really brought the plot to a deeper level, and I felt that everything flowed together in a seamless way to create a riveting novel. The characters were well written, each with their own strengths, weaknesses, flaws and problems - which I thought made them easy to identify with as a reader. Ellie was a wonderful main character for the story. She's smart, determined, a devoted daughter, sister and friend, but she's also broken, scared, and scarred by her past. I found it very interesting that the story was divided into different parts told from either Ellie's or Gwen's point of view. I think it gives the reader an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes for the characters and helps to know each one on a more personal level. The plot was perfectly crafted with the mystery weaving into the mental health issues and to deeper topics such as family, love, truth, and facing your fears. I found the mystery aspect to be fantastic and I was completely at a loss for the first portion of the book as to what was happening. After I realized the truth, the strange occurrences and issues that Ellie dealt with and tried to understand made complete sense and I enjoyed learning the complete truth about it all right alongside her. Overall, this is a magnificent book that mixes genres to create an original novel of realistic fiction and mystery. Highly recommended for fans of YA contemporary fiction and those who enjoy mysteries.

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This book, I read it mostly while on the way to work and nearly missed my stop on the train a few times because I was so engrossed in the book. Even though I really enjoyed this books, and I did believe me, its hard to write a review for it without completely giving away the punch line because it doesn't tell you in the summary. And that's one thing I have to say I fecking love the most about this book, being surprised in books doesn't happen that often to me any more and when it does I relish it.

First thing you should know is Ellie has blackouts, for whatever reason there is moments of her days that she cant remember and it seems to be happening more and more. The only person she's talked to about them is her boyfriend and he thinks she needs medical help. When the time frame of the blacks jump from a few minuets or hours to days, and instead of only missing out on a bit of conversation Ellie has somehow managed to make her boyfriend want to break up with her, she knows its time to finally get some help and figure it out. Where does she start when the only person she's told thinks she's making the whole thing up in order to get off the hook for the thing's she's done. Therapy of course.

At first, like any normal teenager, Ellie doesn't want to go and fights against her parents for making her. But soon she realises that even though she doesn't like feeling exposed or opening up or even remembering, it's helping her to come to terms with what happened to her before she was adopted and who she is.

As well as having the ability to surprise me, Brooklyn Skye actually offered up some pretty decent characters. Ellie, though annoying at times was a really well written character and was strong in her own way. Shane was a really sweet guy, a little bit of a push over if you ask me but still he was loyal and caring and he really went out of his way to help Ellie even when they weren't together. Gwen was probably my favourite character even though we got to see very little of her. She was strong, blunt and she didn't take shit from anyone. And although that might not be everyone's cup of tea, she was who she was because she had to be to survive, deep down she's just ask scared as the rest of us. And the we have Griffin, the bad boy who is still sensitive and in need of love. I loved him, probably more than Shane. But that's because I am a sucker for the bad boys haha.

I loved this book, I really didn't expect to and I fell in love with the cover in all honesty, but I found myself being very disappointed that it was a stand alone book and not a series. I wanted more pages haha.
Still, the fact that Brooklyn Skye manages to squeeze such a good story into so little pages is one of my favourite things about it

Brooklyn Skye if your reading this, please please please write a sequel. I'd love to know what happens next :)

My Rating: 5 stars

Review - I don't know why but for some reason I got it in my mind when I first requested this book that it was about parallel universes and maybe it was because I had been looking at a different book that was about that or whatever but that's what I thought. I was wrong. I don't know what to say about this book without giving away the whole plot and ruining the book for you, I feel like allot of people might figure it out from the description or just within the first few chapters, that's when I started to realize what it was but I still don't want to spoil it for anyone so this review might be fairly vague.
Let's see there are all the feels in this book, including annoyance for me at the first half of the book, I figured out what was going on and it was all very important to the story but I feel like the goods, the best heart wrenching parts, came in the second half. The first half is still good and important and with what this book is it was done the way it had to be and really well but the second half, that's the half that started really playing with my emotions and making my heart hurt for the characters and just all the feelings.

Characters -
-Ellie - She wasn't my favorite character, I don't know why, but in a way she was still perfect. I hated her relationship with Shane, again I don't know why I just never really felt their love for each other. But for what was going on she was perfect and really well written, at her parts I really felt for her just like in Gwen's parts I felt for her.
- Gwen - Oh my jeez all the feelings I have for Gwen, I wouldn't necessarily say I liked Gwen more but she really made me feel for her when her time came, I hated her for Ellie and then I loved her for herself, if that makes any sort of sense.
- Shane - Meh. He wasn't a bad character but meh.
- Griffin - I loved Griffin, I just did and at the end I felt so so sad for him.

The Other Things -
- So, this is kinda of a really heavy subject and just not something you see very often in a book I think and it was done so very well and the writing was so beautiful and just so good and amazing and all the other words. Again I don't want to give anything away and maybe everyone else is smarter than me and from the description alone knows what it is going on in this book but if it's not just me than I don't want to give it away, just know it is heart wrenching and oh so good.

Overall - This was a weird review for an awesome book and let's just end by saying I don't think it's a book that I will be forgetting for a very long time.

Would I recommend this? Yes Highly.
To Who? Yes. Highly.

---- Reveiw -----
Let me say, I had no idea what the basis for this book was when I agreed to review it. I read the summary after I started the book because I was like “wait. Am I missing something important?” The summary didn’t really answer that, and that’s okay… because not knowing – then finding out what was happening, was one of the best things I’ve ever read.
The story telling in this book rivals that of some of my favorites. It’s absolutely stunning. Brooklyn Skye has a talent in world building and story telling and I’m telling you – you do not want to miss this book.
The book follows Ellie (told in her point of view) who’s a pretty happy kid despite a rough start. She has a boyfriend. He’s awesome. She’s a runner. She’s pretty good at it. Her grades are good, she has a best friend. I mean… really? It’s hard to find a flaw in sweet Ellie’s life. I mean… there are the ones like, Lexi, who used to be friends with Ellie and her BFF, and who no longer is. She prefers being a total bitch in a basket towards anyone who tries to even remotely come close to her best friend, Shane….. who happens to be that boyfriend I told you about.
(A Collective “ahhhhhhh” goes through the room)
So, before you stop reading because you think this is some stupid high school love drama, let me stop you here, and make you hear me out. (YOU BETTER STAY RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE UNTIL YOU HEAR ME OUT) okay. I think I got you.
This story is told in such a unique way, that even if you absolutely hated the subject manner, you would still finish the book like “holy crap. I totally didn’t see this coming.” When Ellie starts noticing she’s missing bits and pieces of time, things start to go wrong. She keeps it to herself. Things continue to go wrong. She’s in a sense, blacking out – but she’s not passing out. She just loses time. Wakes up in places she’s never been, not remembering how she got there, etc. Eventually, after not telling anyone, it all boils over to the surface and it’s impossible to just brush it under the rug any longer. Ellie needs help.
What you find out Ellie needs help for, will leave you stunned in ways you didn’t imagine. I just never saw it coming. I highly recommend this book. It is an amazing story, and not only that – it’s a very DIFFERENT story than we’ve been seeing in YA as of late. 5 stars, 100%. I Commend Brooklyn for choosing the “problem” Ellie has to talk about it. I’ve never, ever read a contemp book that pushed the boundaries so much, to shed light on something that happens more than people realize. So happy I picked up this ARC. You get em girl!

I wanted to read Fragile Line because I was intrigued by Ellie and if her blackouts were something mental or if there was something else going on. I usually enjoy books about mental illnesses as well as memory loss.

I felt for Ellie, and even though I knew that she was somewhat of an unreliable narrator, she seemed so normal during the day. We find out that she is adopted and has no memories of her childhood but things start coming back to her after her blackouts, where she loses chunks of time and walks off in the woods, argues with her parents and ends up with a tattoo. Her life is starting to fall apart though, because she's gotten up to leave or disappeared on him time after time, and its hard to believe that a person does these things and then can't remember, it seems like an awfully convenient excuse.

I wondered if she had split personality or some form of bipolar, because she does things while blacked out that she wouldn't do while awake. Talking to guys she doesn't recognize, go to eat, and her wild side goes to get the tattoo. It was a surprise when I found out the cause, but I think that it makes total sense.

While I can understand to an extent why Ellie kept the blackouts and time missing a secret for so long, but I was getting a little pushy for a bit before she finally opened up about it and truly began to want answers and seek and accept help. I can't even imagine what I would think about myself if I had time missing and things happen to me that I couldn't remember and especially as a teen I very well could have kept it to myself for as long as she did because I would almost fear the answers more than the solution.

It was neat how the author changed things up at about 75% and we got a different view point as well as some more answers about her past that Ellie can't remember. We get the other side of the story and the emotions that are attached there and even though I knew what was best, it was still hard to see the pain and uncertainty of the future.

It was a pretty quick read and well paced. The world building was completely contemporary but at first I kept thinking that there might be a supernatural element even though thats not in the description or tagged on goodreads. The ending was okay for me, but I think that it could have been a bit better, or things could have been a little more resolved with Ellie and accepting her diagnosis and what exactly that looks like day to day. We get the glimpse of hope that its starting, but really not a clue what daily life will be like and how she will handle.

Bottom Line: Fast read with an unreliable narrator that had me wondering what was going on.

GENERAL -

Who wouldn't want to read this after that synopsis? I won a copy of this book in a giveaway and I didn't know anything about this book until I started reading it. This isn't the kind of book for everyone. Since it's a dark Young Adult contemporary. It deals with horrible issues (drugs, alcohol, and abusive parents). This story is about Ellie Cox, a teenage girl who is experiencing something she cannot explain. One moment she's with her boyfriend, Shane and then next she's somewhere. She keeps on forgetting things (a conversation with a friend, etc.) but as the blackouts got more frequent, it got worse. She went missing for three days and then she woke up at an apartment of some mysterious guy, who is not her boyfriend. One thing that bothers her the most is that the guy doesn't call her Ellie. He calls her Gwen. Now tell me, isn't that intriguing?!

CHARACTER(S) -

Ellie made me feel all the emotions inside her. I felt her sadness, her pain, and how scared she was with what's happening to her. The characters are great. All of the characters are interesting and genuine. What amazed me the most is that all of these characters are very strong and independent. Every character is dealing with some problems. The other characters are Shane, Lexi, and Griffin. Out of all the characters, I must say my favorite character would be Shane. He's a great boyfriend and you can really feel that she truly loves Ellie.

PLOT AND WRITING STYLE -

Even though I already knew what was really happening to Ellie, the plot was still amazing. They're were some parts you wouldn't expect to happen. To be honest, I am running out of words to describe this book. I love Brooklyn Skye's writing style. It's very poignant and eloquent. I can understand her words easily. Brooklyn Skye delivered this story perfectly.

FINAL VERDICT -

There's a lot of good things about this book and there were also some inconsistencies but it's still amazing! All of the things (the issues, the characters, EVERYTHING) in this book could happen in real life and that's why I loved it. Not that I'd like it to happen but that was what made the book very real. I wasn't expecting that I'd like this book. I mean, I love mystery/thriller novels but I think I have never read anything like this before. Is it mysterious? Yes. Is it thrilling? Yes. Did it make me go crazy? Yes. Fragile Line is an original story and totally a must-read by everyone who loves psychological thrillers.

THE ENDING GOT ME LIKE:

The synopsis for this book was so compelling, I knew when I first read it that I had to read this book as soon as possible. (Thank you, Entangled Teen, for the early look.) It sounded unique and intriguing... a hint of romance, a hint of mystery. Now that I've finished it, I can honestly say I was right on all counts – and then some. Fragile Line took me completely by surprise and I think it will be quite awhile before I stop thinking about this book and these characters.

Fragile Line is Ellie's story. On the outside, she's a normal teenager. What no one knows is that she's suffering from blackouts that last for days at times and she has no ideas what happens to her during these times. More than that, she's getting flashes of her childhood that lead her to believe terrible things happened to her. A guy she doesn't know keeps calling her cell phone and asking for Gwen and, after one of her episodes, she comes back to find her boyfriend Shane has broken up with her and wants nothing to do with her. Something's definitely happening but she has no idea what it is. She's scared and confused, but afraid her friends and family will think she's going insane, so she's scared to ask for help.

While it took me a few chapters to get into this story, once I did I was hopelessly hooked. I'm glad I didn't have anywhere to be because I couldn't wait to finish this book and find out what was happening to Ellie. There were twists and turns, suspenseful moments and sweet ones. I felt so bad for Ellie. She was a strong character, but what she was going through had to be terrifying. I was completely emotionally-invested in her story. Fragile Line tackled a mental health issue that I wasn't all that familiar with up until I read it and did it in a way that was easily understood and really made the reader think about all the pieces involved.

This book is broken up into three parts and an epilogue. Part three was mind-blowingly good. It added a layer of complexity to the story that left me confused about what I wanted to happen in the end. It was powerful and thought-provoking. This story doesn't end with a cliffhanger, but I really hope Brooklyn will consider writing a second book with these characters. Fragile Line was so good and I would love to see where ALL of these characters are now.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I must say that there are a LOT of heavy reads that I simply can’t stand, but Fragile Line was not one of them. I was totally wary of reading this book that I’m not even sure why I requested for it, but I’m so glad that I did. This was so much better than I expected it to be. I was pretty much hooked from chapter one, and I had to keep reading. Everything about it was so compelling that I finished this book in a few hours. I’m just a little sad that I can’t bookmark or highlight the PDF, but I’ll make sure to get my own copy of this soon. This review might be very vague because I think that people should read this for themselves. It’s that good.

Ellie Cox lives the life that I’m afraid to live – losing a part of one’s self without even knowing it. I’ve seen people with mental disorders, and I fear of ever having one. I’m afraid of losing control of myself and my mind, and that is exactly what happened to Ellie. She suddenly finds herself in certain situations without even remembering what happened. When things started to get worse for Ellie, I just wanted her to tell someone already to the point of frustration, but I also understand her fear of doing so. I was happy when she finally started telling people because I think it’s important that people ask for help when they can’t handle something. I really loved Ellie, and I just wanted to hug her or hold her and make her feel okay.

Also, I really love Ellie’s boyfriend, Shane – sweet, caring, and loving Shane. He’s definitely not perfect and he has his own share of mistakes, but there is something about him. #nospoilers :P Let’s just say I wish there were more guys like him.

**************************************************

OVERALL, Fragile Line is a very compelling and well-written book that vividly tells the story of a girl inflicted with a mental disorder. It is heartbreaking, but hopeful. This book caught me by surprise, and I instantly fell in love. It deals with a lot of heavy stuff that made me feel for all the characters involved, and I personally like how Brooklyn Skye handled the different issues, the revelation of secrets and dark pasts, and the personalities of all the characters. I recommend this to anyone who wants a good contemporary read, and I will surely be one of the people to buy a copy.

I liked Ellie's character in this book, she's timid and haunted by a past she can't remember. This book reminded me of The half life of Molly Pierce by Katrina Leno. I did not like Ellie's boyfriend Shane at first, he's so un trusting and completely clueless as to how he hurts Ellie by being with Lexi so much. Lexi has her own problems as you learn later in the book, but that doesn't mean she should be so dependent on Shane. Ellie has far worse problems and she pretty much deals with them on her own until the middle of the book. Ellie learns that she has a very troubled past and a very abusive father. Bits and pieces of memories come to Ellie throughout the book, and you begin to learn about the scars all over her body, and how they came to be there. I did not like Gwen's character at all, she has a "I don't give a shit attitude". And i did not like how she disrespected Ellie's body, i mean it's hers too after all, but still..she shares it with someone else. I wasn't a big fan of Griffin either, I'm not into guys like him, all tattoos and piercings. I understand that Gwen and Ellie share a very disturbed past, but that's no excuse for her to act the way she does and cause all that trouble for Ellie. Her and Ellie could have lived in harmony, obviously it wouldn't be easy but it's better than Gwen disappearing, which she's terrified of. In a way she should be grateful, if it wasn't for Ellie and her past she wouldn't exist at all. It's not the best existence in the world, sharing a body with someone else but still, it's a life she has to live with. Gwen has to remember that she's the one who doesn't exist, she has no ID to prove she's Gwen, which means she doesn't exist except in Ellie's mind. An interesting read but not the best.

Solid 5 Stars.
WOW. Just wow. I read this book in one sitting and it was worth it!

Being at school is the last I remember. Why can't I remember driving home? Or eating dinner? Or seeing any of my family? Going to bed? Homework? What the hell?
I could tell Mom.
Should tell Mom.

Meet Ellie Cox, 16 years old girl who is happily live her high-school teenage life. Both of her parents are so loving even though she's adopted. Unfortunately, Ellie's life starts to spin out of control when she suffers from a series of blackouts. Often, she find herself in certain situations without even remember what happened; like finding herself in a wood, getting a tattoo, as well as waking up in an apartment to a stranger.

Overall, I loved everything about Fragile Line. My mind was blown by the storyline and the way Brooklyn Skye wrote it. The story itself was pretty unique and intriguing that I just could not put it down. Most of the time I was like 'what the hell is happening?' - in a good, exciting way. And after found out what exactly happened to Ellie, the story just didn't stop! There were more.

The characters were memorable and real. I personally liked Gwen. She was a strong, bad-ass character compared to Ellie. I liked Griffin too. Gwen-Griffin; favourite OTP! \o/
Okay, I thought this would be an easy review to write, actually it was not, not without revealing any spoilers, LOL.

Just read the book if I were you

I recommend this book to the people who like dark or thriller contemporary. Honestly, if anyone read the synopsis of this book would probably think Fragile Line was a paranormal / alternate universe genre, but that wasn't what the plot about ;P

Mind. Blown.

I must first say BRAVO(x1000) to Brooklyn Skye for a job well--WELL--done. FRAGILE LINE is unlike any book I've read before, and exactly what I want to read more of. In the vein of some of my favorite series/movies (which ones, I can't say because I'm not a spoilery reviewer), FRAGILE LINE hooked me instantly, grabbing a hold of me in the very first pages and keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout. In truth, FRAGILE LINE made me feel, well, fragile. I gasped. I cried. I stared at the wall as confusion rattled my brain. I shook my head. I raged. I questioned. I sympathized. Name the emotion, and Brooklyn Skye pulled it from me.

Little more than 30% in, and I figured out the plot base (not a bad thing in this case, BTW). I wondered if I was right, if I'd actually uncovered the truth of Ellie's situation, and though it turned out I was in fact correct in my assumption, knowing this took nothing away from the book. When the truth is revealed, Skye doesn't allow you the comfort that should come from finally knowing; she pushes you straight into the next twist, bending the story and flipping everything on its head. EVERYTHING. ON. ITS. HEAD. Discovering what's wrong with Ellie should have brought her some peace, brought the reader some peace, but it did not. And for that I am so thankful. I hate when a book looses steam with a big reveal, or comes to a cushy little comfortable end after a thrilling climax.

In line with not trying to be spoilery (which is quite difficult with all I want to say about this book), I'll lave you with this: FRAGILE LINE consumed me all the way through to the end. Gripping. Heartbreaking. Thrilling.

My only complaint is that there isn't a Book Two. I need more Griffin. *swoon*

Rating: NC17 (Why is there no PG-16 rating? lol) This is an intense upper young adult novel with some very grown up themes. I'd say 17+

I hate to say that a book “surprises” me, because that makes it seem like I went in thinking this book would be shit. I try to start a book with no prior grievances. No spoilers. Reading no reviews. A fresh slate for me to make up my own mind.

So I guess when I say it surprised me, I mean that I didn’t expect to completely be swept up in their world. To research (and goddammit, did I do some googling), this disorder. The first book in a while to give me the wondering eye to the next page or a few paragraphs. I didn’t want it to end, but I HAD to know how it all ended. I was greedy for Fragile Line.

I loved it. Originality is something few and far between, and I sincerely appreciated it. The writing is fine and honest. The characters are interesting as hell.

Ellie’s past broke my heart. Gwen broke my heart, although she pissed me off a few times. Shane is a sweetheart. Griffin is hottie.

Yes, it is filled with high school drama. Yes, these kids should’ve just talked to their parents instead of dealing with this on their own.

But all that is background to the very interesting, very compelling story.

I really can’t say much about Fragile Line without giving too much away. It’s a neck breaker. A jaw dropping discovery in one girls life (or is it 2 girls?).

It’s worth the read.

4.5 STARS
This book was given to me for a fair and honest review*

Yowza! I could not put Fragile Line down. Once I started, it completely grabbed me and made me keep going until I reached the end. This is one of those books that you can seriously get a hangover from….

Ellie’s story is extremely compelling. She is happily coasting along in her life when suddenly she begins to experience blackouts, waking days later not knowing where she is or how she got there. It was fascinating learning about Ellie’s mental illness and experiencing the truth of what happened to her from her POV. I felt sorry for her but also reveled in the strength that she showed towards the end of the book.

I have to say that if I had to choose between Shane and Griffin, I am not sure I would be able to. They were each perfect (and perfect for Ellie) in their own way.

Brooklyn Skye really must have done her homework on Fragile Line. The writing was amazing and the characterization spot on. She has written a compelling YA book about mental illness that seems to be lacking in the genre.

It would do any reader well to try the book. There is no cliffhanger and the plot is plausible and realistic. What a stunning read!

I couldn't put this book down. More to the point, I didn't put this book down. For. FIVE. HOURS. I literally read this book from start to finish in one sitting.

Yeah, that happened.

When I finished, I thought to myself, "Well, that was short." It wasn't though.

Honestly, I don't know how to describe this book, as I have never read anything like it. Which, in today's world, is saying a lot. Around of applause for Brooklyn Skye for that feat alone.

This book has an air of mystery to it that keeps you hooked from page one. On the one hand, you sort of know what's going on. Or, you think you do, and it becomes maddeningly frustrating to the point where you just wish you could reach in an shake the answers out of the air. I mean... it seems so painfully obvious, but... what's going to happen?!?!

See what I mean? No, yeah, me either...

I don't suggest reading this in public, as this book may induce random bouts of anger and yelling at fictional characters. In a good way. I think.

It was a good book, definitely odd, but also a gripping, emotionally investing, eyes glued to the page kind of book.

From the very start of Fragile Lines I was sucked in. It grabbed hold of me and I was not able to let go. I stayed up well past midnight to read this gripping novel about a teenage girl who suffers from blackouts and loses gaps in her life. I needed to know what happened, needed to know the cause. The following day I read straight through to conclusion so I could finally solve the mystery and when the book ended my mouth was left wide open. WTF…..That’s how you leave me? I sat in my bed for at least 15 minutes wondering ….ok now what, now what do I do?

Fragile Lines was a powerful story with strong subject matter. Brooklyn Skye weaves a complex tale that will lure you in and hold you hostage. You will not be able to put it down. The plot twist will captivate you and you will be immersed in the enigma of Ellie’s life. The sudden ending will leave you breathless and wanting for more. Days later this story still haunts me!

Tell me there is going to be more, because this ending left me walking a fragile line of sanity. Closure was not found at the conclusion. I need more!

What a captivating read! I took my time for this one. It started kind of slow, but this story really grew on me, and I really enjoyed it.
I really liked how the story was builtliving things through Ellie's eyes, and wonderug wha was wrong with her, just like she did herself.
I thought while reading, that the characters were accurate (though my teenage years are far behind now).
What happened, and it was quite a surprise t me, was that I also liked Gwen and Griffin a lot, maybe even more than Ellie and Shane. There was not really a good and a wrong character, but two complex ones.
I'm just a little disappointed though that things didn't go any further between Ellie and Lexi. I kind of felt like that part of the story was left undone.

To sum things up : an intriguing story with great characters!
