It's Valentine's Day and Devon Ducaine has never felt so much excitement and nervousness in his entire life. Taking the stage to sing to hundreds or thousands of people has nothing on trying to right the wrongs of your past with the man you love and almost lost.
Scott Weston never imagined he'd have anyone like Devon in his life, let alone ever having someone he loved say those three little words back to him. When Devon invites him out for a whole day of Valentine surprises, it's the most romantic thing Scott's ever had happen to him. But surprises and new experiences can cause panic, and Scott's anxiety and panic attacks are always an issue when he's faced with the unknown.
Devon and Scott love each other, but is it enough to get through what's supposed to be the most romantic day of the year? Will they let nerves and guilt over-ride their hearts or can Valentine's Day be the start of the next phase in their relationship, one of honesty, sharing and trust?

K-lee Klein grew up in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia and now lives only two hours away in Calgary, Alberta. Her life is blessed by three now-grown (but still spoiled) kids and an adorable grandson who calls her Gwaa Gwaa. She has a patient husband of over thirty years and spends her days being bossed around by a kitten named Poe, a senior feline called, Miss Chili, and a canine who thinks she's a princess, Chewie.
K-lee’s writing muse is terribly temperamental so to keep him close by and in-check, she had him inked on her left calf. Yet she still writes on his schedule and inspiration, and quite honestly, he can be a bit of a drama queen. K-lee writes mostly contemporary but has forayed into paranormal and urban fantasy, and her favorite tropes to write and read are hurt-comfort, friends to lovers, opposites attract, and relationships with children. Her biggest accomplishment as an author was overcoming all the hurdles to transition from publisher releases to her first self-published book.
Although K-lee considers herself to be an extroverted introvert and revels in her solitude, she very much enjoys traveling to conferences to meet up with friends old and new. She’s grateful for all the people in her life who accept her as she is and support her through the ups and downs as a mom, wife, friend, and joyfully obsessed writer.
I know I will sound like a broken record or maybe a bitchy reader, but this one is just another "just-meh-and-not-staggeringly-memorable" read for me. In fact, it's a couple hours after I finished and I seriously couldn't remember what I read.
I think it was something sweet and the first two chapters were an excuse for them to have some lovin' time. And, I think, I think, there was something going on with Scott's Mom? Maybe it was the conflict. I don't know, I started skimming after the end of chapter 2 (never a good sign for a story less than 20,000 words).
But did you know what I DID remember??
The way that Devon thought .... He'd never called Scott anything but Scott and the occasional babe but he liked how the word rolled off his tongue.
... which I kinda hoped that it meant lack use of pet names/endearments? Only to have, wait ... let me count: 8 babes, 8 darlin's, and 5 sweethearts, and 1 baby.
At least it's not all "baby" you said? Well, after reading almost 200 fanfics exclusively where pet names are minimal, trust me, it's becomes quite annoying.
I rounded it up because it's FREE though. I think my standard for MM these days are getting higher *heavy sigh*
This is a sweet, romantic and cute sequel to Lazy Sundays. I really think you need to read that one first to really appreciate this one. Scott is an accountant, has anxiety disorder and some OCD issues, Devon is a rock star, you wouldn't think it would work, but it does. Devon is such a sweet, sappy and very considerate guy and Scott deserves the happiness that he finally has. Now, I really really want to read about dear ol' Mom getting what she deserves!
3 Stars - a sweet short continuation-novella about a first Valentine Day and the love between two nice men.
I began to love so much about the very neurotic and insecure Scott already in the first book, Lazy Sundays (also a shortie). In this shortie we get a small taste of his and his great love Devon's life again. Devon has planned a few surprises for Valentine's Day, including a ride on the motorcycle...
This shortie was okay, not more, but I will enjoy to read som more stories about Scott and Devon as soon as they are published. Romantic, hot and just sweet. Great couple, love them.
A short but sweet follow-up to Lazy Sundays, and another winner!!
God, you've gotta love that Devon Ducaine...so sexy and just...amazing!! Scott has at last realised that when Devon says he loves him, he really does mean it, and this short story focuses on the day that Devon has planned for Valentines, and what happens. Aw bless!!
Man, how can an author write two short stories as sweet as sweet and lovable as these. I have becoming a fast fan of the author. I really did love reading this. It had a perfect feel for a follow up story and left me really wanting more. I really hope there is a third story coming out because I think Devon has to meet Scott's mother.
Awwww ..... I just love this couple. Another sweet little gem by K-lee Klein, continuing the story of Scott and Devon. There is really nothing not to like about this... just wished it was longer!
It's more angsty but still a happy book for me. I'm in love with Devon and Scott, can't get enough of these two sweet men.
The story took place after the ending in Lazy Sundays, while it doesn't have a cliffy it's great to see Dev and Scott's relationship grew, no lies and more of them opening up to each other. The opposites attract situation was so adorable, Dev is such a hot macho man while Scott was quirky, complete with his OCD and snarky mouth.. INSTANT LOVE!
I want more of Dev and Scott, please K-lee Klein :))))
Most importantly, thanks to Ms. Klein for writing this short story and giving it for free. It was great to revisit characters that I loved so much and spend an entire V-Day with them.
Scott is still one of my all time favourite characters because I can relate to him on so many levels and it's very pleasing to see an author who really gets what it's like to live with anxiety disorder.
A sweet Valentine's Day story. I really liked seeing Devon and Scott's relationship growing, and them learning to trust each other. I do think sometimes Scott is a bit too hard on Devon at times, and that Scott bears a little more responsibility in their time apart than he seems to take. I like how much Devon adores Scott, and tries hard to make him understand that. I liked meeting his band, and liked how much they seem to support each other. Overall a nice short story.
I enjoyed catching back up with Devon/Devastation Caine and Scott the geek. Poor Scott...he seriously needed a Devon in his life and I am so glad they got past their issues in book one. It was nice to see them adjusting to being a couple. A very tame story but also very sweet.
and Scott's mother is the pits...seriously? I hope in the next book that Devon sets her straight.
I loved this. Lazy Sundays was one of my favorite books of 2012 so as soon as I saw this was available I downloaded it.
This takes place a week after The End of Lazy Sundays. If you've read that one then you know what all Scott and Devon went through to get where they are. If not, you should, though it's not necessary in order to enjoy this short. I only suggest it because, 1. It was an amazing story and, 2. You will understand more of why Devon is working so hard to make Scott's Valentine's Day so special.
Devon has planned the perfect Valentine's Day for Scott. Scott has major anxiety issues and is OCD so surprises are not his favorite thing. What Devon does for him on this day is very sweet. I loved reading it from Devon's POV as we got Scott's in the first book. I fell in love with these two guys all over again. A big thank you to the author for offering it for free. I would love to see more of these guys some day. They are definitely up there as one of my all-time favorite couples.
A nice little sequel that just ties off nicely the relationship that started in the first book, between Devon and Scott. I absolutely adored Scott's character in this book; he tries so hard to overcome his social anxieties, and Devon helps him along every step of the way. It was nice to learn a little more about Devon's life, and seeing how Scott fits and yet doesn't fit into that life style was interesting. The books was very lovey-dovey, but I think it works with these characters; especially the contrast with Devon's alter-ego, and his romantic attitude when dealing with Scott! However, as with the first book, there are several grammatical and editorial issues which could be sorted out to make this book even better; missing/incorrect punctuation, new paragraphs not put in, etc. don't detract from the story at all, but do make reading it a little more awkward.
I fell in love with Scott Weston and Devon Ducaine when I first read Lazy Sundays. It was a sweet, loving, somewhat angsty story.
When I heard that Ms. Klein was doing a book for Valentines I got excited at the opportunity to visit these guys again.
I was SO not disappointed. It was just as sweet and sentimental. She recaptured their uniqueness and quirks just right. I enjoyed seeing Scott pull out of his shell just a little bit, and I liked hearing a bit more about Devon's life pre-Scott.
The only problem I had with the story? Scott's mother. Egad I hated that woman. So vile and vindictive. I felt sorry for Scott having to deal with that shrew.
When she and Devon meet I'm hoping he hands her ass to her.
It's Valentine's Day and Dev have big plan for his skittish and anxiety ridden bf Scott.
It was sweet, somewhat too sickeningly sweet in some area which juxtaposed with the nasty conversation Scott had with his mother (should be read as monster in this case).
The story hinted a continuation. I would love to see how this couple will handle Scott's family situation.
This is very sweet!I like it and give it 4 stars!:))I wonder if there will be more stories about Scott and Devlon?I hope so..*g*I can't get enough of m/m romance!
I read this immediately after Lazy Sundays because I wanted more Scott and Devon and that was exactly what this book offered.
It is much the same as the first one: short, focused on Scott and Devon, and super adorable. This one had less drama than the first one, which was fine and it also introduced a few more characters, who fit in well. So I'm guess the whole point of that sentence was to say that it wasn't exactly the same as the first one, though similar, which is good.
One thing kinda stuck out as less than ideal, though: Scott had a tendency to refer to Devon as a rockstar and Devon to Scott regarding lists. The problem is those were really the only things they pointed out about each other which emphasized the fact that they are not particularly established or rounded. The fact that they're both rather shallow characters was fine to me based on the nature (and shortness) of the books, but having it emphasized and pointed out like that made it less tolerable.
But despite that, still cheesy and cute and what I wanted. And now I'm going to have to look around to see if there's a third one planned.
I loved reading about Devon and Scott again. Their story was one of my favorites from the Love Is Always Write anthologies so I loved getting another story with them. Devon decides to surprise Scott with a Valentines Day outing. Devon is really opening up to Scott about who he is and we see how much he loves Scott. We get to meet Dev's bandmates. We also get some more insight into Scott's panic attacks and his home life through a phone call from his mother. This fabulous story may be a short one but it packs a punch. It's set up nicely for another story. Looking forward to Devon kicking some Momzilla ass! Hope the next story is a long one as I could stand to spend a lot of time with these two.
Awe. totally love these two! And the author left it open for yet another story. At the beach house :) That should be a good one. I actually read that Lazy Summer and Lazy Valentines is just a little sneak peek of a full length novella that will be coming out soon.... that would be so cool!
This story picks up a couple weeks after the last one left off. Devon had to go on the road for a bit with the band, but they kept close contact.
When Valentine's Day arrives, Devon is determined to make it the best for Scott. Little did Devon know, Scott had never celebrated Valentine's day before. so they were in for a special treat.
Totally love this couple. Can't wait to read more about them :)
This was less intense for me than Lazy Sundays. I enjoyed meeting Dev and Scott again. At the start of this book, there was a lot of mention of the breakup. Perhaps for the benefit of those who haven't read Lazy Sundays or not very recently.
In a scene near the beginning, Scott is going down the hall to his bathroom, walking gingerly. I can picture myself in a similar situation. It made Scott seem like a real person.
I liked the story and was not jarred out of it due to spellcheck, grammar, or discontinuity errors. My only complaint is that the story was so short.
Ah, this was a playful and sweet follow up to Lazy Sundays. Devon wants to spend a special day with Scott solidifying their relationship and demonstrating how much he loves him. I love all the fun surprises, the interaction between the two men and even getting the alternating points of view to know what each is thinking of their special time together.
Delightful sequel that I can recommend to fans of the first book in the series.
**REVISED RATING AFTER RE-READING ON 12/3/13 to 4 Stars*
I re-read this after I finally read Lazy Sundays, and, yep....I enjoyed it much better second time around!
(Original comments) Having not ever read Lazy Sundays it's sort of my fault then for not getting as much out of this book as I could. I enjoyed Scott and Devon, but not having their backstory didn't help. My recommendation: read the first book before this one!
This is the follow-up story to Lazy Sundays. After Devon & Scott re-unite, Devon has a plan to celebrate Valentine's Day with Scott. The question is can he do it without causing Scott to have a panic attack?
This is a sweet short read. I liked it, but it could have used a little more editing.
