Holy WOW -- this book was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!!

Coming Home was a captivating, beautifully written and deeply heartfelt romance that left me with the powerful message that love is stronger than anything. This is the kind of story that grabs a hold of your heart and doesn't let go. It was a joy to read and I loved every single word -- from the first page to the very last.

I honestly can't even describe how full my heart felt while I was reading this. Throughout the whole story, there was this quiet intensity that kept me breathless, brimming with emotion, and completely connected.

I think it's a sign of the author's talent when, at the very beginning of the story -- before knowing anything about the characters, or their story, or their personalities, etc -- you can genuinely feel that complete connection to them and that was what happened here from the moment I started reading this book.

The story follows Leah who, on a nostalgic visit back to the house she grew up in, meets Danny, a gorgeous and mysterious mechanic. A bad relationship in her past had broken her trust making her prefer to stay away from relationships rather than put her heart out on the line again. Danny was the first guy in two years who made her feel like it was worth the risk, but he was hiding a huge secret ...

Ok, even I'll admit that what I just said there *points above* is probably THE most vague book description I've ever given. But there's a reason. Honestly, this book was perfect to me. I don't have any complaints at all to make. But I do feel strongly that one of the things that makes reading this book so special is not knowing too much about it going in. Usually, I'm one of those people who kinda likes to know but in this case, I would honestly say that the less you know in advance, the more you'll enjoy it. Just trust me, okay? :)

I could not stop smiling as I was reading. Danny and Leah just the kind of connection that I felt every step of the way. I fell in love as they fell in love and could just see every scene playing out in front of my eyes like a movie.

The pacing was perfect for this story. It was slow building, but in a way that gave you the time to genuinely believe the development of the relationship. They had an instant connection but the love that grew between them was built -- moment by moment, scene after scene -- and I absolutely loved the way it was portrayed.

Danny was the kind of hero who you can't help but fall for. I think the best way to describe him was a good guy with streak of bad boy. This man was kind, caring, loyal, sweet, charming, a touch cocky, and very protective of those he loved. He melted my heart from the moment I met him and had me going crazy trying to figure out what his big secret was!!!

"I was kind of hoping I'd hate you. It would have been so much easier if you were a bitch, or an idiot, or someone who annoyed the shit out of it…But of course you weren't any of those things… You were smart, and sweet… and fucking beautiful… I figured we could just be friends, you know? No harm in that, right?… But every time I talk to you, I like you more and more, and every time I see you, it's so fucking hard, Leah."

Leah was such a lovely heroine. Described by Danny as "the perfect mixture of snarky and sweet, confident and shy", she'd had her trust broken and so giving it to someone new was a huge step for her, especially to someone who was hiding something from her. But the way she handled everything in the story made me respect her, over and over again.

"I can take care of myself."

"I know you can. You're one of the strongest people I know, and I really hate that life keeps making you have to prove it."

One of the things that I loved most in this story was that there was absolutely no 'drama for drama's sake' and the entire story was driven forward by the natural pull of the story. And I especially loved that the beginning of the book took the time to fully connect me with the characters before revealing the secret that would put everything to the test.

I loved watching Danny and Leah slowly open up to each other, and learn to trust each other. It was beautiful, very believable romance - the kind I could see happening in real life.

“What’s a talent you have that not a lot of people know about?”

Danny chuckled suggestively, a low rumbling sound, and Leah felt a surge of heat run through her veins. She kicked her covers off as he said, “Hmm, I’m gonna keep it PG for now and go with that I can sing.”

The writing was absolutely beautiful. It flowed effortlessly and conveyed each emotion so strongly. It was one gorgeous, heartfelt moment after another. Some scenes made me laugh out loud and smile for pages on end, and others had me sitting there with silent tears pouring down my face. I felt everything!!! It was romantic, heart wrenching, uplifting, and just SUCH a beautiful reading experience.

Oh -- and the TWIST!!! What a unique idea!! I actually have to say that I've never read this particular twist before. It took me by surprise and spun the story in a fantastic direction that had my heart in knots wondering how it could ever get sorted out. My heart was in my throat, pounding. I was overflowing with emotion. I just needed everything to be ok. The best way I can describe it would be 'deliciously heart wrenching.'

"When you love someone, you don't bail when it gets hard. That's when you stay the most."

I'd say one of the things that struck me the most with this book was that this was genuinely a story I'd never read before. It's not 'like' any other one I've read. It was such a treat to be able to read something like that.

Also, without giving more details, I just want to say that I was really impressed with the way the author wrote a certain part of the ending. The way she conveyed the inner struggle that the character was going through and they way she got us right into their mind was very powerful and compelling.

I can't recommend this book highly enough. It had amazing dialogue, wonderful character dynamics, a completely original plotline, absolutely beautiful love scenes, and a deeply heartfelt, sexy, and believable romance that filled my heart with every possible emotion.

"I need you," he said hoarsely. "I need you, Leah."
"I'm yours," she promised. "Always."

Rating: 5 STARS!!! Highly recommended!!

This is a standalone contemporary romance.

This gif pretty much represents how I felt for most of the book:

4 to 4 1/2–Wonderfully Written and Character Driven–Stars

This beautifully written and touching story was exactly what I needed to help get me out of my book funk!!!

Coming Home has so much to offer its readers in terms of an unique and emotional plot, a powerful and poignant love story, and characters so richly developed that they breath life into each and every page. I fell in love with this book, its hero and heroine, and its ability to make me feel.

I love when I read a story and the author has the ability to truly make me feel. Not by creating manufactured drama to elicit a false emotional response but by using a God-given talent. And that is exactly what Priscilla Glenn did with this book. She used her incredible talent and made me feel...EVERYTHING. She ripped me to shreds, then put me back together again.

AND, OH, HOW I LOVED THAT!

The only thing that stopped me from giving this story a 5 star rating was the pacing. As much as I hate to admit it, there were times I wanted to speed the story along. Other than that, I can't rave about this book enough.

Coming Home is a fantastic and unforgettable read. It's superbly written with endearing and strong characters that you can't help but admire and love. It's everything I love in a great romance. I highly recommend this gem of story.

DNF at 25%

If I had read this a year ago, I'd probably be singing Ms. Glenn's praises and recommending this book to all my GR buddies. Unfortunately, time flies and tastes change. Though I loved both Emancipating Andie and Back to You, this book didn't make enough of an impression for me to want to finish. Reason?

description

If you are a hopeless romantic and enjoy reading slow-building romances, then you may very well like this one; however, for a dark reader who prefers fast-paced, action-packed stories, I felt miserable reading this book. I thought I would like it because in the past I really enjoyed reading this author's other books, but like I said, tastes change.

So in a nutshell:

Slow pace + plot inconsistencies + insta-love = DNF

Plot inconsistency from the very beginning:

If you were wondering how bored I got, I started counting the little holes in my ceiling.

"I could suffer through anything if you were my reward."

"I just don't know how many times I can bend before I break."
"But it's okay if you bend," she said earnestly. "It's okay if you break. I'm not going anywhere."

Coming Home is a beautifully written, heartbreakingwarming story that I really enjoyed reading. I'm not going to give away too much about the story in this review because there are some things you better not know before reading it. I will say though that even though there were some sad, dramatic moments throughout the story, I mostly had a happy feeling while reading it.

*

Every year Leah returns to her home town to drive by the house she grew up in. Ever since her mom died when she was only twelve years old, that house is one of the few places she can go to in order to keep her mother's memory alive. This year however, the new owner of the house, an older woman named Catherine, invites her in and allows her to walk through her old home. While she's there, Catherine's grandson Danny suddenly shows up and that's when it all begins.

Their first meeting sparks feelings in the both of them, but they're both hesitant to give into them. Leah, because she's had a very painful break-up almost two years ago and she hasn't been able to trust another man ever since. And Danny because he has some secret past of his own that might prevent him from starting up new relationship.

"God, how do you do that?" he asked.
"Do what?" she asked softly.
"You make it stop hurting," he said against her skin. "Every time."

Both Leah and Danny have a painful past that keeps haunting them and preventing them from finding true happiness. Together though, they help each other overcome their painful memories and they provide each other strength to fight for the happy ending they both so desperately deserve.

I really loved Leah. She was such a strong person and I admired the fact that she never gave up on Danny even when It took a lot of courage for her to take so many first steps, but in the end it was all worth it. Just like someone once told her, sometimes the reward more than makes up for the suffering you have to go through.

"You don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself."

"I know you can. You're one of the strongest people I know, and I really hate that life keeps making you have to prove it."

Overall, Coming Home was a wonderful, original, captivating story with beautifully damaged characters that I very much enjoyed reading. The storyline was simple yet it managed to surprise me at times as well and there was just the right amount of angst and drama and some fun, interesting side characters to keep the story from getting dull or predictable. This was my first book by Priscialla Glenn and I'm already looking forward to checking out the rest of her work!

Highly recommended for anyone searching for a heartwarming standalone love story.

3.5 - 4* 'Stand By Your Man cuz he has a BIG OL' SECRET!' Stars

COMING HOME was such a sweet and emotional romance. If you like the tortured hero and a heroine who stands by her man plot, and you don't mind a slower paced romance that takes its time to really bloom, you will enjoy this one. I had some issues with the slower pacing and low angst level, and got pretty darn frustrated with the BIG OL’ SECRET, but it was undeniably a solid love story romance I won't soon forget.

Danny has a secret. A BIG OL’ SECRET. And it is keeping him from enjoying life, and most definitely keeping him from pursuing Leah. They met briefly by chance, and he was fortunate enough to cross paths with her again. But is pursuing Leah a wise thing to do, giving his BIG OL’ SECRET?? (Hey, did I mention he had a BIG OL’ SECRET??)

Danny's BIG OL’ SECRET kept me guessing through the first half of the book, until it about drove me mad and **FINALLY** we learn why he has been behaving like a jackass at times. He is the classic 'tortured hero', and it was a heavy secret no doubt. And when Danny wasn't behaving like an ass due to his BIG OL’ SECRET, he was downright swoon worthy! But while I understood Danny's BIG OL’ SECRET, I didn't always enjoy watching him be his own worse enemy.

Leah hasn't been attracted to anyone in over two years, but Danny sparks something in her back to life. She is healing from both a crushing and devastating breakup, and the guilt of what transpired with her own family during that relationship. However, he is keeping a BIG OL’ SECRET, and she has no idea what it is. And it is driving her bonkers trying to figure him out.

But when his BIG OL’ SECRET is revealed, she is steadfast in standing by her man. I give her big props for all that she goes through. I have no doubt that Tammy Wynette wrote her song 'Stand By Your Man' with women like Leah in mind.

By the end, I was pretty mixed about this book. Loved and hated it, to be honest. The best part of this book is easily the budding romance between these two. It was sweet, real and deep. I enjoyed watching these two get to know each other and truly fall in love. The dialogue was snappy and sexy. And when these two were together and the BIG OL’ SECRET not getting in their way, I loved them.

But on the other hand, much of Danny's torture was self-inflicted (IMO) and not all a direct cause of the 'unknown' he is facing. He was a classic over-thinker, and at times I found myself frustrated with him. I absolutely felt he dragged his BIG OL’ SECRET out way too long, and it was not the least bit fair on Leah. But once the cat is out of the bag, and they kiss and forgive, the rest of the story moves on to dealing with the BIG OL’ SECRET. I wish I could say that this is where he ends his head games, but unfortunately not quite yet.

Overall, I did enjoy it and I will not forget this book soon. It dealt with a heavy subject matter I have yet to see in any romance novel, and introduced many interesting characters. I completely believed Danny and Leah's HEA too. This book made me think, and at times swoon! But I was also frustrated too. And bored at the slow pacing.

Lastly, if you are tired of how many times I mentioned the BIG OL’ SECRET in this review, imagine how I felt reading this book? Over and over and over it was mentioned but not revealed until I wanted to scream JUST TELL HER YOUR BIG OL’ FUCKING SECRET!!!!! OK, got that off my chest. I feel better now.

6 STARS OF PERFECTION!!!

I am so full of emotions right now, I feel like I could start twirling, arms stretched out, and start singing about the hills being alive…! This book was my undoing, cover to cover, every word, every genuine emotion it provoked in me taking me further and further from reality and keeping my mind safely tucked in one of the most exquisite, deeply moving, but also truly uplifting stories I have ever read in my life. This is a story that didn’t just touch me – it owned me. Every part of it was just perfect, done just right, the story flowing organically from page to page, immersing me deeper and deeper into a story I never expected to find. Once again, I am in awe of an author who consistently keeps giving us stories that transcend time, trends, expectations, by staying true to herself and writing with her heart. I cannot but give this extraordinary book my Six Stars of Excellence for taking us on an unexpected journey of courage and taking a chance on love, even when the obstacles before us are dire and they are many.

Leah is a young woman whose last relationship has gone far beyond breaking her heart – it has made her doubt herself and her ability to make sound decisions when it comes to giving her heart away. Instead of not trusting men anymore, Leah has stopped trusting herself and has embraced singlehood both as a necessity as well as a protective shield. Losing her mother at a very young age had marked her deeply, every subsequent loss only sinking that dagger even deeper into her already reluctant heart.

When Leah meets Danny, there are no fireworks lighting up the sky or knees wobbling from the sparks between them – they are two people who at some subconscious level are inherently drawn to one another, but neither of them are looking for a deep connection at that point. When fate intervenes and their paths cross again, we get to witness the first seeds of a love story that eventually starts blooming despite Leah and Danny’s best efforts to stay just friends. But while Leah starts confronting her trust issues and entertaining the idea of falling for someone like Danny, the more they seem to connect, the more Danny tries to push her away. His mercurial behaviour and all the mixed signals he keeps giving her only act to confuse her further and bruise even more her already ailing self-confidence.

“Being with him, talking to him, was the emotional equivalent of bungee jumping. There was the freedom, the adrenaline, the exhilaration of the fall, only to have it come to an abrupt halt, roughly yanking her back in the direction from which she came.”

But Leah is not a woman who is easily deterred from seeking the happiness she always hoped to find, and her connection with Danny, as unpredictable as it may be, is not something she is prepared to throw away out of fear of another broken heart.

“There was something about him that spoke to a long-forgotten part of her – that awakened something dormant in her soul and made her want things again.”

Danny is the type of guy you wish you could take home to meet your mum. He’s charming, witty, protective, reliable, loving and loyal, but life has given him a few too many pickles, making him a man who believes himself to be undeserving of a kind and compassionate woman such as Leah. He pushes her away every time he feels he is falling deeper and deeper under her spell, but the more he tries to stay away from her, the more he aches to be near her. Unfortunately, one mistake in Danny’s past has the power of changing the rest of his life, and once his secret is out in the open, Leah must decide whether theirs is the kind of love one risks their all in order to keep it.

This is a story like no other I have ever read, not because of the plotline which is fresh and unique in its own right, but because of its extraordinary pace. The pace of this story was one of the winning aspects of this book in my eyes, the gentle, natural progression of events and the slow development of emotions between the characters drawing me in like never before. There is no room for “insta-love” in this scenario, nothing is forced or hurried to accommodate a jam-packed storyline. Every piece of this story flows like it would in real life, giving us the time needed to fall for these characters and become irreversibly invested in their wellbeing. I lived this book, I became addicted to the myriad of emotions it made me feel, and I was blown away by the honesty and sense of responsibility with which the author addressed some of the more confronting parts of this story. This was one of the most complete, romantic and yet so sexy, real but also astoundingly beautiful tales to ever tickle my imagination and feed my insatiable heart, and I will scream it from the rooftops if it makes people pay attention and take a chance on reading it. It’s a journey you will never forget, and when you turn that last page, I promise you that you will want to go back to the beginning and experience it all all over again.

“… there wasn’t a doubt in her mind that the day she met Danny, the stars had aligned just for her.”

Leah Marino is a 27 year old 10th grade English teacher who spends most of her time caring for her family. Her mother passed away and ever since she tried to take on her mother's role in the household.

 photo 370bab5f-c178-4397-b93a-f896e898900a.jpg

She misses her mom terribly, and every year around the holidays she returns to her childhood home. She hasn't lived in the house in 15 years but still holds her memories there close to her heart. She moved out of the house when she was 12 after her mother died, but has driven past the yellow house every Christmas since she could drive. This is her yearly indulgence, and she likes to stop to just remember.

 photo 098a9f6d-4700-4f86-a21a-2b850ee0809d.png

Every year she pauses to look out the window, but never pulls in the driveway. This year something makes her want a closer look & she parks and gets out. She is greeted by an elderly woman named Catherine. Then a man comes in while she's there. A gorgeous sexy man named Danny DeLuca who calls this woman Gram. She finds him extremely attractive! She hasn't looked at a man that way since her ex, and hasn't been on a date in 2 years. She is a bit flustered & thanks them for allowing her to see the house and leaves. Once she gets home she is devastated when she notices her bracelet she wears of her mother's is missing.

 photo f8c85e2a-b021-4be7-825d-35b3c9d03c02.jpg

Danny & Leah track each other down over the bracelet, & end up meeting at Leah's favorite restaurant Giovanni's for lunch to return the bracelet. They enjoy each others company, & it is clear the attraction & connection is mutual. As they begin dating Leah realizes Danny is mysterious & has a secret. He is clearly troubled over something & she keeps getting mixed signals from him. She finds out he is haunted by past mistakes. They have a lot of obstacles to overcome, but are crazy about each other! They have to decide if their love is strong enough to go them through the bad times. I enjoyed this book & loved Danny, but after a while felt it was just way too long. :))

-She fit so perfectly. And not just physically, although he couldn't deny that when she was beside him this way, it felt like she was just a natural extension of his body, as if they were two halves of the same whole.

-She had never in her entire life physically responded to someone the way she did to Danny, and it was as terrifying to her as it was thrilling.

-She was sure about him. She was sure about them. There wasn't a doubt in her mind anymore where she belonged.

-Her eyes stung with tears behind her closed lids, and she smiled softly, knowing for sure that she had made the right decision. Because for her, being in Danny's arms felt like coming home.

-I want you. And I want us. I want our life together."

-"My father once told me that if something seems too hard, before you give up, you should always ask yourself if the reward will be worth the suffering."

-"I could suffer through anything if you were my reward."

(BR with Dee and Mel)

Leah Marino is a young woman who suffered a great loss when she was a young girl. Her mother was killed in a car accident and her father was so devastated that he packed up Leah and her siblings and moved to a new town. The family home was just filled with too many bittersweet memories of her mom.

Now Leah is 27, and for the past several years, she goes back to her old family home around the holidays out of feelings of nostalgia. This year the woman who lives in there invites her in.
Catherine is a sweet old lady that can see the sadness in Leah's eyes and offers her some tea and a chance to check out her old room.
In walks, Danny DeLuca, Catherine's "Grandson".
Sparks are flying between the two from the very beginning.
But their first encounter is brief.

 photo 9cfa187ee85c55b1a954ef68221eaa50_zps83e081a4.jpg

As luck would have it, Leah loses her bracelet, and leaves a note on Catherine's door with her number and a request to call her if she should find the bracelet.
Of course she gets a call from Danny and they set up a date to meet.
Again the two instantly feel an attraction to each other, but both of them have things in their past that have them hesitating to take things a step further.

Leah's had her heart broken by her ex boyfriend and she doesn't trust her judgement of men anymore.
Eventually she will give in to her feelings for Danny and she puts herself out there NUMEROUS times!!!
I really felt badly for her.
Danny was always messing with her head.
Although it wasn't his intention, it is what he was doing nonetheless.

Something awful has happened in his past and it's pretty apparent that he suffers from extreme guilt over it and doesn't think that he is good enough for Leah.

Danny was for the majority of the book, a very frustrating character for me. I was getting whiplash from the amount of times he pushed and pulled with Leah.
Leah, time and time again, puts her heart on the line, in an attempt to save their relationship.

"So I guess what it comes down to...what I need to know...is whether or not I'm worth the suffering to you."

I have to say this was a very slow building story and at times a struggle to get through. The story is good and characters well developed, but it needed to be a little bit faster in pace. I fell asleep several nights trying to read the book.
The last 20% was so depressing and there were a couple times I got a bit teary eyed, but in the end, this was just an "Ok" read for me. I'll still read anything the author writes since I've loved her previous books.

This is one of those books where the girl has been cheated on in the past, the guy has some huge secret and pushes the girl away storyline.

I love the Author's previous 2 books but I felt apart from Leah and Danny, everyone were too cheerfully happy. My main problem was the story didn't hold my attention and I nearly DNF a handful of times. The big reveal wasn't shocking either.

Because for her, being in Danny's arms felt like coming home

I think if you like a sweet read with a touch of angst and a pull-your-hair-out-hero it might just be the book for you. Bottom line is: it might just be me and my book funk.

ABSOLUTELY, STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL! ♥ ♥ ♥

Priscilla Glenn takes us on yet another breathtaking, emotional journey. I laughed, I swooned, I cried sobbed, and I fell in love - and I loved every freaking minute of it! Leah and Danny’s story is absolutely amazing. They are incredible characters – I love them individually and I love them together, and from the very beginning, I knew that this book was going to be something very special. So prepare for much gushing!

Leah is wary of relationships after having her heart broken two years ago in a bad relationship. She has avoided men since then, but when she meets Danny, and the two of them develop a bond, she finally feels ready to risk her heart for a chance with him.

Things are easy and comfortable between them right from the very beginning. Obviously there is attraction there, and the banter is absolutely sensational.

“You have dimples when you smile.”
“Yes, I’m aware,” he laughed.
When Leah didn’t respond, he said, “So, was there a point to that comment, or were you just stating the obvious?”
She kept her eyes on her salad as she continued to cut. “Just stating the obvious, I guess.”
He laughed softly before he leaned on the table with his forearms. “Dimples turn you on.”
What?” she scoffed.
“Oh, sorry. I thought we were still stating the obvious.”
“Oh my God,” she laughed, pointing at him with her fork. “
You are cocky as hell.”
“Nah, not really. I just like it when you blush.”

But while they have a raging attraction, and effortless chemistry, Danny is hiding something. And as much as he wants Leah, he tries to protect her from his secret, and things become complicated. But Leah is not to be deterred, and I loved her confidence in letting Danny knows how she feels, and pretty soon Danny is powerless to resist.

“Right.” Leah laughed as she sat back against the headboard. “Because in your current condition, I’m sure you would rock my world.”
… “Believe me, if given the opportunity to rock your world, there isn’t a hangover in existence that would prevent me from getting the job done thoroughly”

I love the development of this relationship. From friends with incredible chemistry, there is a sensational build-up to an amazing, all-consuming love. They are funny, they tease, and it’s the kind of relationship where every little glance, and every little touch is significant. Seriously, the first time they held hands I squeed out loud and almost had to fan myself! Let alone their first kiss! And I also have to say that this book contains one of the most heart-felt love scenes I have ever read! My heart was pounding at the intensity and absolute beauty of such a very special moment. The emotion that Glenn pours into these characters and the way they are with each other is just astounding!

I thought the set up to the story was original and intriguing. Watching Danny struggle with a secret so obviously important kept me guessing during the first part of the book. And when all is revealed, it just made me even more excited for the story to come. It's unique, and it provides some fantastic challenges for Danny and Leah to face, and I loved watching them deal with everything that they went through. Their reactions were realistic, and understandable, and once again, the high level of emotion was maintained throughout.

“When you love someone, you don’t bail when it gets hard. That’s when you stay the most.”

Oh Danny… how I love you! This is the kind of guy that could turn any woman (myself included) into a big pile of goo - or, as Leah puts it, “a besotted, quivering pile of easy. He’s funny, he’s kind, he’s loyal, and he’s got a huge heart. He is confident and strong, but not afraid to admit his vulnerabilities, and he’s also gorgeously sexy and clearly very talented in the bedroom! I fell for him pretty much instantly.

I thought Glenn did a fantastic job giving us Danny’s story. He goes through so much in this book, and watching him trying to deal with his feelings, and do what he thinks is right is both admirable and absolutely heartbreaking.

“I figured we could just be friends, you know?” His voice was low and throaty as he added, “No harm in that, right?” He shook his head as he pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes before running them up through his hair. His eyes flew open, but they were bleary and unfocused. “But every time I talk to you, I like you more and more, and every time I see you…. it’s so fucking hard, Leah.”

And Leah is a fantastic heroine! She’s been through a lot, but I love her confidence and her bravery, and her ability to just pick up and keep going. She is intelligent and witty, and cares deeply for her family and friends. She is such a great match for Danny – not afraid to stand up to him and tell him when he's being a jerk, but all the while loving and supporting him absolutely. I love her!

“The magnificence and purity of her love for him—the all-consuming force of it— could break him and heal him simultaneously. It could destroy him and piece him back together, better than he was before.”

Danny calls Leah his “sweet girl”, and the love between the two of them is absolutely incredible. There is a lot of time spent on the development of their relationship, as well as those beautiful little moments between a couple that has gushy romance readers like me swooning. And then seeing them deal with the drama, as well as some massive moments of heartache (ugly crying people… ugly, ugly crying!), showed how truly remarkable the two of them are together. And throughout it all, there is no stupid, no eye rolling, and I thought the way it all unfolded was absolutely perfect.

“Leah,” he said, his voice rough with emotion. “I could suffer through anything if you were my reward.”

Despite all the heaviness, this is actually a really funny book. I laughed out loud a number of times – not just at Leah and Danny’s banter, but also the antics of their friends and family, and the snappy dialogue between them all. The side characters in this book are fantastic! Leah’s family, and her two best friends are funny, supportive, and exactly the kind of people you would want at your back in any situation. And Danny’s friends are rude, crude, and utterly hilarious.

“Do whatever you gotta do. Go fuck that girl six ways from Sunday.”
Danny laughed, trying to keep his hand steady as he glanced up. “I hope you have a daughter one day.”
Jake’s face dropped. “Dude, fuck you, that’s not even funny.”

This book is absolute perfection! The writing is tight, emotive, and beautifully poetic, the story is well paced, the characters are fantastic, but realistically flawed, and it’s all set against an interesting and unique situation that was handled really well. And, of course, it’s an incredible love story that had me weeping with both devastation and happiness.

I need you,” he said hoarsely. “I need you, Leah.”
“I'm yours,” she promised. “Always.”

My only complaint is that I wanted more. I didn’t want Danny and Leah’s story to end, and I know that this is a book that is going to stay with me for a long time.

I absolutely adored it – 6 sensational stars.

****4 Heartwarming Stars****

(BR with Mel and Patty)

This one is one of those books that even though you enjoy and find the story beautiful, you still feel like something was missing. The plot was promising and the writing style was good but it was too slow paced, making the reading experience a heavy one. I still liked the book, specially the last 30%, I got more emotion out that percentage than I did the whole book...

Danny and Leah meet under very fateful circumstances and the attraction is instant. Leah has been nursing a broken heart after her ex cheated on her but meeting Danny has made her hopeful about love again. As much as Danny likes her, he keeps trying to pull away from Leah, because he is hiding a lot of pain that keeps him from thinking about a future with her. Their story is complicated and very sad but they both have a lot of support in their friends and family and little by little they will both find their way home...

I read this book with my two best buddy reading friends and one thing we all agreed on, was how much we were struggling to keep our interest in this story. It dragged a lot, but in the end I'm happy I stuck with it because I was able to appreciate the beauty of this story...

Coming Home was simply captivating and brilliant. It was such a touching story.

Leah and Danny meet by chance when Leah comes back to visit her childhood home. When their world collide together, they need to decide whether they can move forward together, will they be strong 'nuff or will they just give up?

Danny with his mess of inky black hair took Leah's mind away.

 photo 47742164e0b499989690ae30f5974861.jpg

And Leah with her strong, sweet and caring character couldn't get out of Danny's mind.

 photo 0bb0a37e1afa6c5677e5358c92f79333.jpg

The thing is Danny wants to hide all his emotions away and run away from her. The more he tries, it becomes difficult. He is hiding something.

By the 47%, I was screaming internally for Danny to say it out loud to Leah and get over it. It was killing me not to know his secrets.

 photo tumblr_mpl6cm3lUn1swwi6xo1_500.gif

Finally, when there is no secrets between them, Danny is still struggling.

Read this beautiful journey of Leah and Danny. I loved their banter. It was so sweet.

In my opinion, this book is unfortunately an example of a wasted potential because of its writing.

The characters & the plot:

We have a really sweet heroine here. Her ex-boyfriend cheated on her and ruined her relationship with her family so for two years, she couldn’t dare to start a new relationship. Then, she meets our hero and falls for him instantly.

The hero is sweet, attractive and likable at first sight but he got on my nerves too quickly with his mood switches. He goes hot and cold, hot and cold. One moment, he behaves as if he likes her and another moment, he pushes her away, acting like an as*hole or sometimes acting like a capricious teenager girl.

Despite his being a jerk so many times, she keeps being sweet and understanding. I just couldn’t understand why she gave him so many chances after being treated like crap. She holds hands first. She even starts their first kiss. First, he goes on with it then he runs away ☹ So very frustrating!

He pushes and pushes all the time, even in the last 20-30 per cent, he finds another reason to push her. He is such a “pull-your-hair-out” hero. Then, he regrets, and says he is sorry. It is the heroine that makes the relationship happen and continue; it is only her efforts.

Somewhere towards the half of the book, we learn that our hero has a secret he has been keeping from her and he is scared that she will leave him and will not look back once she learns what it is about. That’s why, he has been resisting his attraction to her. Well, he definitely could have handled it in a less as*holery way. (Is there such a word or did I make it up now? Whatever, you get the point 😊 ) And as for his secret, it is something that definitely causes both of them a lot of pain but it is

Because of his pull & push and the lots and lots of filler and fluff in the story, the build-up between the two characters is very long and the story often feels like a snooze-fest. I like character depth and details about the MCs but the situation here wasn't like that. Ordinary daily stuff filled the pages. However, it is not always boring. There are sweet and hot moments as well as some fun moments. The problem is all those good parts are drown in a sea of other filler stuff.

And the ending is rushed and it fails to provide the effect it is supposed to. Their reunion was supposed to be a big event and the build-up was preparing us for it but then, the way it was written didn’t make that impact, it was just an OK ending.

Actually, the book has a good plot and it really had a potential but its extremely slow pace and all the mundane details that fill the chapters, making the book at least 100-150 pages long kills its potential and makes it an awfully boring and dragging book. Such a shame because this plot could have been amazing with a less tortuous writing.

Writing:

- 1st person writing – not my favorite style but well-executed, nonetheless
- Wordy writing with uninteresting details
- Slower than the pace of a tortoise
- 368 pages long - really longer than necessary
- Emotions conveyed well – it makes you feel

Safety:

- Safe – no cheating
- No other woman, no dead exes – only her ex causes a few problems
- Separation for about a year and a half

~~~ 3.5 TO 4 STARS OR 7/10 ~~~
Coming Home was a sweet and different contemporary romance. Why I thought it was NA? I have no idea. Needless to say I was happy to find it wasn't...not that I don't like NA but after the last one I read, I didn't think any others could top it.
But this was really good even if it felt a little NA-ish.
Leah is a high school teacher that's sworn off men since the betrayal at the hands of her ex. She loves her job and loves her family and friends even more, only making time for these three things in her life. Every year at Christmas Leah likes to do a drive-by past her old childhood home and revisit the memories made there. But this year through a series of destined occurrences, Leah finds everything in her life is about to change.
Danny DeLuca is a man living with the fallout of some bad decisions. He's biding his time, avoiding commitment and ultimately waiting for the other shoe to drop. What is this other shoe??? It's his secret he's keeping close to his heart. And after meeting Leah, that secret is about to unravel and change his life forever. When Danny can't stay away from Leah, he finds excuses to see her but always manages to push her away and send out mixed signals. He wants her but thinks once she finds out his secret she'll run the other way.
Leah can't understand why Danny is so back and forth. And honestly, I couldn't either. It got to the point where I was like, ship up or ship out Romeo because no one is going to take that shit! Leah being the wonderful woman she is, hangs around but ultimately she doesn't have the patience of a saint and walks. Danny finally accepts that his life can only go one way---towards Leah. FINALLY.
It honestly didn't take him that long to tell her his secret but his mercurial ways were what irritated me. Leah proves to be a loyal and incredible woman, she was what made this book sometimes. I loved how their relationship built up. It wasn't insta-love but a gradual build of friendship and honesty. I loved that.
There were many emotional scenes throughout and to mention one would spoil everything but I connected with these characters and felt their pain. The love between Leah and Danny was intense and real. This was a book about forgiveness and the lengths we'll go to to have it. It's about seeing past our mistakes and seeking penance. It's about perseverance in the face of adversity and pain....but mostly it's about love and the power it has to heal and change our lives. A beautiful book with a great feel good story.
Priscilla Glenn has done it again! She has written another lovely and deeply touching story, where I would be laughing and smiling in one scene and then crying uncontrollably in the next scene. Everything Glenn writes feels so effortless and so natural. And I always have such an amazing and unique experience with her stories.
Every year, Leah Marino visits her childhood home around the holidays; reliving the happy memories from when her mother was still alive. This time on her visit, she meets a sweet, old lady named Catherine, who now lives in her childhood home, which results in her meeting Catherine’s grandson, Daniel DeLuca. He’s the first person Leah has found herself drawn to since she caught her boyfriend cheating on her two years ago. And it’s been that long since Leah has dated anyone. She’s afraid to let anyone back into her life after being mentally manipulated and betrayed by someone she thought she loved. In the meantime, she has put all her energy into her teaching job and taking care of her family.
The moment Leah and Danny met, an immediate attraction and connection is formed. Unfortunately, they had to part ways that day. Then fate brings them back together again and they form a friendship, but Leah wants more from the mysterious Danny, who is unpredictable with all the mixed signals and mercurial behavior. He’s harboring a secret he can’t bring himself to tell Leah about. It’s hard on Leah, making her feel insecure, but her feelings for Danny are strong and she’s determined to peel away his layers, refusing to let him walk away from her. Though he promises to tell her eventually, he’s scared he will lose her once she knows the truth.
I liked Leah right away. Leah is the kind of girl who loves deeply and loves hard. She’s genuine, sweet, and strong. She’s also snarky and fun. Losing her mother and having her boyfriend cheat on her were hard obstacles to overcome. But what happens with Danny becomes the ultimate test of her life yet she remained strong through it all. Oh, she had her moments where she wanted to give up, but she put her big girl panties on and kept fighting.
"When you love someone, you don't bail when it gets hard. That's when you stay the most."
I’m totally crushing on Danny. Everything about him makes me weak in the knees - even when he was being a total ass in the beginning. I love his witty sarcasm and his endearing loyalty. I wouldn’t label Danny a bad boy, but he does have an edge to him, and he does protect the ones he loves fiercely. But what is Danny’s big secret? Not knowing his secret kept me in suspense, dying to know! I thought I had it all figured out, until it was revealed. And man, I never saw that coming. My heart broke for him. The author handles this big twist in the story realistically and intelligently. I fell in love with Danny a little bit more when his secret was revealed.
"I need you," he said hoarsely. "I need you, Leah."
"I'm yours," she promised. "Always."
Danny and Leah are freaking adorable! I love the way they playfully bantered back and forth. I honestly laughed out loud many times. What I really love is how Glenn takes her time with the relationship. Their relationship develops gradually as they get to know one another. When they finally become intimate, there were many steamy lovemaking scenes between them. The intense passion and raw emotions that simmered between these two made me melt. This is definitely Glenn’s steamiest book to date.
Coming Home is a slow-burning, character-driven, beautiful story I fell in love with. I was taken on a difficult yet incredibly romantic journey where I felt heartache, happiness, sadness, guilt, regret, determination, forgiveness, and pure unconditional love. I truly connected with this story and the characters. Priscilla Glenn has a way with writing a story that is quiet and heartfelt, but the power in her words tend to sneak up on me when I least expect it, which is when I found myself grabbing for the tissue or smiling uncontrollably. I highly recommend Pricilla Glenn’s Back to You and Emancipating Andie and now Coming Home for those of you who like well-developed characters and well-written contemporary romances with a lot of heart and soul written in the words.
Coming Home is a very sweet romance that depicts two very different individuals who are given a rough set of cards.
Leah, is still reeling from a heartbreaking betrayal and the loss of her mother. She basically mothers her younger brother while contributing to him and her father but things are still hard for her.
Danny, on the other hand, is a mysterious mechanic facing the harsher reality of the consequences of his actions stemming from one drunken night at the bar.
When he meets Leah at his grandmother’s while she is revisiting her childhood home sparks fly and the two feel their lives forever change.
But with Danny’s secret in the way and which could ultimately shift and destroy their relationship altogether. How will things all work out? What could his secret be? And will Leah stand by Danny in the end?
So, my verdict?: A very nice introduction for me into the world of Priscilla Glenn although it was more of just an okay read for me.
I do, however, believe that all of you hopeless romantics will fall in love with this book so seriously don't mind me. I mainly deducted from this story for the slow story pacing when I really wanted it to move a little faster.
Anyways, with that said, I still hope to read more in the future from this author and will perhaps backtrack and read her older works. :)
There are so many great reviews on this book that I don't have much more to add. Suffice it to say that I thoroughly enjoyed and loved every minute spent reading this one.
This new-to-me author weaves a beautiful and passionate love story that captures both the darkest and brightest sides of life’s challenges. It snagged my heart from start to finish. There are surprises throughout this book including one of the sweetest proposals ever made by a hero who will most definitely win a place on your all-time favorite book boyfriend list.
I will certainly be watching for future releases by Priscilla Glenn.
Perfection!! An orignal plot with extremely likable characters. I experienced the entire gamut of emotions. I went from laughter to angst to tears many times over. What more could you ask for? I also love books where you can witness the hero and heroine genuinely falling in love with each other over time and this fits the bill. I highly recommend!
"Being in Danny's arms felt like coming home."
Priscilla Glenn has me wrapped around her literary finger with her newest novel, Coming Home. Beautiful, enthralling and impassioned, Coming Home drills into you the message of love can conquer all, no matter what obstacles stand in your way.
Glenn has this unique ability to pull on my heartstrings and toy with my emotions in a way that keeps me coming back to her novels over and over again after reading them. The tone Glenn sets with her descriptions and word choices truly make me feel the characters' every moment of joy, grief, and jubilation. I will read anything she writes.  Coming Home is already a favorite of 2014 for me. Hands down.
Every year, Leah ventures back to her childhood home—the home she shared with her family before her mother passed away. And every year she parks in front of the small nondescript house, reminiscences about how things used to be before, and then quietly drives away. This year, she lingers too long and is visited by the owner of the house, Catherine, a small elderly lady. Catherine invites her in for tea and minutes later Catherine has yet another visitor, Daniel Deluca.
Pure serendipity bring Danny and Leah together, and the more time they spend with one another, the more both realize that they don't want to be apart from each other. Through little clues here and there, you realize that Danny is hiding a secret—a secret that could change everything.
Catherine is Danny's "Gram" and he is always at her house fixing it up or doing things for her. From the moment Danny walked into the picture, I was smitten. I mean come on, he's visiting his grandmother and bringing her Christmas trees. He's so sweet and truly the kind of guy that would be effortless to fall for. He is described as "the perfect combination of cute, but sexy...pretty, but rugged...exuding a gentleness, but at the same time radiating raw sex appeal."  I could completely see how Leah could fall for him. I fell for him.
"He had the kind of face she wanted to stare at, just to appreciate the way all the places complemented each other."
After initially going out with Danny, Leah knew that there was something different with Danny.  She could see his absolute sincerity and kindness. Though due to a bad break-up in the past, Leah is reluctant to start a new relationship.
"There was something about him that spoke to a long-forgotten part of her—that awakened something dormant in her soul and made her want things again."
Her feelings are even more muddled when she notes that he is holding something back from her.  There is something in his past that he's not telling her.  On the other hand, she is falling, falling, falling slowly and hard for this man who has taken her heart in his hands.  He doesn't let go.
"Compared to the explosiveness of their last kiss, this was a slow burn; Danny kissed her reverently, the gentle brushing of his lips igniting every nerve ending in her body before he pulled away slightly, turning his head faintly side to side as he ghosted his lips over hers."
What I liked most about Coming Home was the story's quiet intensity and emotional build up.  The romance between Danny and Leah was a slow, wonderfully sizzling burn.  I LOVE those! Danny and Leah have the kind of love that everyone wants, but few people actually get to experience.  The two of them share this bond and strong connection that I could feel.
"He smiled then. Not just because of how she looked staring up at him the way, but because of her comment. Like they were long-lost friends who had just been reunited."
While the heart of this story is a story of acceptance and love, there is also a mystery element to it.  Scene by scene Glenn pieces together the pieces of the puzzle that Danny's narrative reveals to the reader.   She does so in a perfect, deliberate way that had me turning the pages, wondering right along with Leah what he is keeping from Leah and the reader.
Told in third person point-of-view, the reader gets insight into both Leah and Danny's thoughts, which I loved. All of Priscilla Glenn's novel have been third person narrative, and it really works.  As I read this book, I couldn't help but appreciate the title. As you get further into the title takes on a more significant meaning that only added to the story's emotional impact on me.
I fell in love with this book word by word, page by page.  If you haven't read any of Priscilla Glenn's novels start NOW. I am hooked on Glenn.  One of these days, Priscilla Glenn, I am going to show up outside your bedroom window and "Say Anything" the crap out of you just to show you how much I love you.
4.5 Beutifully Written Romantic Stars....
Coming Home was truly a great romance from the characters found within its pages to the actual story line itself. This contained the gamut of emotions that a great romantic read should have from that initial attraction and giddy expectations to the deep abyss of soul stealing, all consuming love. If you are a fan of a legit love story that is so well-written, then look no further than Priscilla Glenn.
"I could suffer through anything if you were my reward.”
Yep...it is swoon worthy quotes like this that stole my breath...for this is the story of Leah Marino and Danny DeLuca...two truly good people whose lives have not been immune to the cruel tragedies that may occur. A meeting, somewhat seemingly fated, starts an instant attraction and what develops over time is a great push pull relationship of want then ultimately need. The perfectly at ease connection between Leah and Danny is cosmic...so right...so peaceful...
Just like in every good relationship...there is respect, communication, and support. But there is also a dangerous curve in the road to future happiness that must be dealt with.
Consequences of past actions must be accepted and then embraced together before either one can truly "come home" forever.
It is quite an emotional read to feel Danny, so strong and proud, fight his innermost fears and then to reach out Leah with such consuming passion. It was also heart-wrenching to read how much two people wanted to be together, yet at the same time understand the selflessness of letting go in attempts to keep each other happy. Could either one really let go and walk away?
“The magnificence and purity of her love for him—the all-consuming force of it— could break him and heal him simultaneously. It could destroy him and piece him back together, better than he was before.”
In the end it would not matter if any goodbyes were said as true love cannot be forgotten. There will be a time in life to say it is over, but until then, Danny and Leah would live everyday to the fullest and their separation...Temporary in space...NEVER in hearts or minds.
3.5 stars rounded down
Where to start with this one… We all know the Mona Lisa right? While I admire the effort it took to create it, I recognize that it’s a great piece of work, but for me, it does not hold the wow factor that it does for other people. That’s what this book was for me. Now I’m not saying this book is the Mona Lisa of New Adult romances novels. I’m just saying I recognize the effort the author made writing this book, I think it’s beautifully written and very well developed, but it really is just not the book for me, personally.
Basic plot: Leah and Danny have a chance meeting and form a strong and almost instant connection between the two of them. Both have a past that haunts them, and it is brought forth for the both of them to deal with. Yet again, this is a book I’ve read where knowing less about the plot enhances the experience as a whole for the reader, so I will not give too much plot summary here today.
What did I like about the book? For one, Danny, the love interest. It’s a nice change up to read a book without an aggressive alpha male who is way too demanding. Danny is kind and thoughtful but not in any way the “nice guy who finishes last” stereotype. Danny is loyal and puts a lot of thought into whether or not he wants to mix his life with Leah’s. As I said, the book was very well written and for me more along the lines of what a fiction writer is and not the writing we’ve come to expect from the romance and new adult genres. This book was also fairly free of angst, so those who do not like it, this is the book for you.
What I didn’t like… The pacing. It was way too slow for my liking and while it suited the book it didn’t suit me. I found myself skimming the book during major parts and not caring enough to go back and thoroughly read it.
I do recommend that other people who are interested in this book to try it, my opinion is just one of many, and many people seem to adore and love this book. Myself, I liked it but didn’t love it. Also, check out Back to You by the author, that’s my favorite work by her so far.
I will not be able to give this book the credit it deserves. It was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am completely in love with this book!
Great storyline!
All the characters were perfect, every single one of them!
It was funny!
It was so devastatingly sad!
It was steamy!
It was heartfelt!
It tore my heart out!
When someone can write a book where I feel like I am right there watching and feeling every emotion, that is what makes a 5 star book!
The scene of her birthday night, wow! It was written beautifully!
The scene of their first kiss, wow! Again, I felt like I was right there with them watching it and feeling it.
OK, all the scenes, just written so unbelievably beautiful! I am so happy I read this book, I highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!
Priscilla Glenn is a fantastic author and don’t let this review tell you otherwise, okay? Because there will be some ranting, but let me tell you this: BACK TO YOU—Priscilla’s debut novel is one of my absolute favorite novels and Emancipating Andie was a good read as well. So these little occasional, very mild rants that are waiting for you in this review? Don’t take them that seriously ;)
“I don’t mind a little disappointment now and then. It just means you’ve got high standards. I’d rather shoot high and be disappointed sometimes than just live in the middle with the illusion of being satisfied.”
Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. I really feel like the only real flaw Glenn’s writing has is the third POV. I’m not a fan of those in contemporary books since it makes connecting with the characters so hard. Sigh. It was a little hard to connect with these characters as well. That isn’t to say that Glenn’s writing is bad or wrong in any way, nope! That’s just my personal preference *shrugs* So yep, while I felt bad for the two main leads, I never really felt a big emotional connection towards them.
So what didn’t I like? Um.. While the previous two books by Priscilla were more of the slow-build kind, then this one was a little too intense in the insta-attraction department for me. Hence I felt like the L-bomb was too early. Yes, the feelings between Daniel (I refuse to call him Danny because it reminds me of the psycho Tyler from Revenge calling Daniel like that and Danny’s behavior during season 3 on that show makes me sick to my stomach *gags*) and Leah were pretttttty darn intense, and let us not forget the situation they were in, but in my honest opinion? Saying the L-word was still a little too early. Also, I get Daniel’s hesitations and the reasons behind his behavior, but it was still wrong of him to be so hot and cold, so it was a bit of a let down. All I could think was "dude, stop hesitating and tell her, or walk away".
Anyhow, off to the good parts, yeah? Even though it seems, based on the two paragraphs above, that there were more things I didn’t like & less things I enjoyed, it ain't exactly so *shakes head* The chemistry was adorable—something Glenn always excels at! Yeah, not big emotional connections to the characters on my part, but oh boy, the chemistry! *fans self* Also, the quote by Leah where she says she’s scared of dark + ocean = MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! I’m not scared of water or dark per se, but I am scared of the unknown. Moreover, there were some stereotypical BFF-s, but written in a very compelling way so I was not put off by the secondary characters. I actually quite liked them. Oh, and the camping scene? THE cutest :) *swoons*
I really appreciate the originality of this story. Don’t make the same mistake by going to the end to see how it ends (I’M LOOKING AT YOU, JENNY!!!) because you don’t want to guess the secret Daniel carries. I wish I hadn’t because I would have been more shocked, but it was still nice to know that I guessed correct based on the letter Daniel sent to Leah. At the end of the day, it’s original in concept and extremely heartwarming, even if it’s not my favorite story by Priscilla. Recommend even though I had some issues? YES!
5+ Amazing Stars!!
This book was just amazing! It was such a deeply beautifully written book that truly captivated me from the very first chapter. This book is why I love to read books! I experienced so many emotions throughout this journey. I was touched beyond words, at the utter passion, strength, loyalty, and love Leah and Danny possess. Every bit of it was nothing short of perfect.
Leah, is a young lady who has had her fair share of heartbreak in her past. Losing her mother at a young age, and stepping up to be the caregiver to her siblings, and father has left it's toll. She has also embraced the single life. Not necessarily because that's what she wants, it's just that her past choices have lead her astray and she feels that her judgment may not be one that she can relay on. She doubts her ability to make good decisions when it comes to giving her heart away.
When Leah meets Danny, there is no "insta-love" connection. There is no spark or jolt of electricity just two people who's path so happen to cross. However, when fate or destiny or whatever you prefer to call it steps in and has their paths cross for a second chance meeting we are able to see the first signs of a friendship in the making. Leah for the first time in two years is entertaining the idea of having more with Danny. Danny however tries to push her away, in the process giving Leah whiplash with his up and down behavior.
However, Leah feels very deeply about Danny, and feels that despite his confusing behavior she wants to stick it out with him and give him time to trust her, she just isn't ready to throw in the towel just yet.
Danny really is the most perfect man. However, life has not been so kind to him either, leaving him with a negative outlook towards life. Danny, holds a secret that will change his life and has the power to do the same to the people he loves the most. Ultimately this secret has changed his life and in return has made him feel less than worthy of love. Can Leah love him despite what the future can hold?
Honest to goodness, I have not read a story as unique as this. The twist was perfection, I haven't read anything like it and was totally not expecting that. Every bit of this story flowed effortlessly, and the story allowed these two characters to fall in love over time not all at once.
It was such a beautiful journey, one that I know I will not forget anytime soon.
Please don't hesitate to read this, I promise you will fall head over heels in love!
Sweet, heartfelt, romantic and hopeful are just few words the describe Coming Home. I started this book thinking it was just another romance novel, but what I ended up getting was much more than that. The relationship between Danny and Leah is the most honest and loyal one I've read in a long time. I can't thank the author enough for writing a book about a couple who I'm sure are very common in real life regarding their struggles and hurdles, but as far as fiction goes, it's the first time I've heard and read about their situation and I'm absolutely in love with the way it's executed throughout the story. The drama was there but in a very subtle way that didn't cause any over-emotions from my side and I love that! Coming Home was a very beautiful story about a couple making their way to the other side of the tunnel while believing in their love and supporting each other at every stage.
After the death of her mother, Leah never forgets to drive by her old family house every Christmas just to get a little glimpse of her childhood. On one of her visits she meets Catherine, the new owner of the property who ends up welcoming Leah inside the house for a tour. There she meets Daniel, the lady's grandson and from the first meet, she feels comfortable with him, but since she's is not looking for any relationship, Leah let the connection slide. Coincidentally, fate intervenes by making Leah and Danny's paths cross on more than one occasion. After a few of those adorable meetings, they both become great friends and soon they start flirting with each other and gradually fall in love. What I loved the most about this book was the slow moving, effortless yet completely swoony romance. Leah is a very nice girl and Danny is an equally nice, polite guy, they both were the perfect match and in a way there relationship reminded me of Eleanor and Park. If you've been following my blog, you know that I'm the biggest fan of that couple and Danny and Leah gave me the same exact feels. I loved them so much! I don't think there's anything else I need to say, yes there was a huge secret which caused some tension, yes both the character did drift apart for some time, but non of them acted immaturely under any circumstances and I appreciated that. Leah was not only a straight forward, fair girl, she knew when to step back and give some space, but at the same time, she knew when to take control and that's the quality in her I love the best.
All in all, like Priscilla Glenn's debut novel (Back to You), Coming Home won my heart! It made me realize that sometimes it's important to look at the bigger picture and not focus on the little hurdles, sometimes it's worth to take a chance if the end result is better, brighter and more happier. Leah and Danny definitely left a mark on me and I highly encourage fans of contemporary and romance in generally to experience their journey and feel the feels I felt. I hope that made sense :)
