Decent intro

I was looking to learn about the bitcoin system. I watched in fascination with the first market top of $300 and the resulting crash. bitcoins are back in the news again. this serves as a decent introduction, with some exploration of the history of bitcoin and the mining algorithm, but this is not where you should start if you are looking to get into mining or if you wanted to understand the potential economic impact of bitcoins.

This book falls somewhere between a complete technical guide to bitcoin and an introduction to its basic concepts. As such, it accomplishes neither of those ends, being perhaps too confusing for a beginner or not detailed enough for one looking to participate in the more technical aspects of bitcoin. Still, much of the book was useful in explaining the workings of bitcoin and I picked up some new knowledge of the currency along the way, so for me, it was definitely worth my time.
