Jennifer is the author of several Christian titles that reflect her deep passion for those living through challenging times and building the local church.
With a heart for encouraging others through Scripture, her books invite readers to explore the power of faith, hope, and purpose—especially in life's most challenging seasons.
Jennifer is a proud mother of three grown children and a joyful grandmother to ten. She divides her time between a peaceful beachside apartment in the south of England and a cozy country cottage in Sweden—both of which inspire her writing and provide space for reflection and creativity.
I liked how the author shared a short vignette in each day's readings and then chose scriptures that would be encouraging in each instance. I wish though, that the daily readings had been placed at the beginning of each day's reading. I guess I just prefer reading Scripture and then having it expanded upon. Not my favourite devotional, but not a bad one by any means.
I enjoyed this devotional series as I really connected with it as a caregiver who faces sometimes difficult and depressing days. It made me realize that my focus needs to continually be on the source of joy, God and his son Jesus Christ.
There are some days that simply feel too heavy. Days when it takes all your strength just to get out of bed, to smile when your heart is breaking, or to hold on to hope when it feels like everything is falling apart.
Daily Readings for Difficult Days was written for those days.
Not with pat answers or perfect prayers, but with real, honest reflections and Scriptures that have sustained me through my own struggles. These daily readings are short—because I know that when you’re going through a storm, long chapters and deep theological studies can feel overwhelming. Sometimes all we need is a gentle word, a timely verse, and the quiet reminder that God has not left us.
Whether you’re walking through loss, facing uncertainty, or simply feeling low and tired, I pray that these pages bring comfort, peace, and just enough strength to take the next step.
You’ll find stories—some from my own life—woven with the truth of God’s Word. You’ll find verses you know and perhaps a few you’ve overlooked. But more than anything, I hope you find the deep assurance that even on the hardest days, you are seen, you are loved, and you are not alone.
Thank you for allowing me to walk with you in this season. And if you do find encouragement here, I pray you’ll return to it again and again—whenever you need a reminder that God is still holding you.
Whether you are going through a difficult life storm or just a discouraging day, these short daily readings will encourage you. Each story is backed up with scripture. I highly recommend this book.
This book is full of wonderful readings that can bring hope and comfort during difficult times in our lives. It is filled with some very familiar verses and some not so familiar ones, but all are presented in a meaningful way.
“The great thing about our Christian walk is not that we won't ever make another mistake – rather we know where to turn when we fall...we're not perfect, just forgiven.”
Encouraging, comforting, and inspiring. Short chapters with words to bring peace in the midst of life's hardships, whether that be in daily living or greater trials. Each chapter includes scripture verses as well. It was a wonderful devotional tool during a time when I was going through many difficult emotional things just to read a few chapters with some spiritual insight - nothing heavy - that would keep my focus on Who it should be on. :) I will certainly read this again and again.
“The amazing thing about the covenant that we have with God is that it only depends on Him to keep it. We may think that we are holding on to Him, but the truth really is that it is not dependent upon our strength but upon His. The truth is that it is He that is holding on to us.”
Merged review:
Nice, light reading with moving stories and scriptures to focus your heart. This was great for me as I couldn't handle anything too heavy this year in the way of biblical nonfiction books. When I had a hard day and needed something more to inspire or encourage me, and to focus my feelings and my heart, this was a good place for some extra help. :)
Having struggled with my faith and life in general i found great comfort in this book. the readings are short enough that you can fit them in no matter how hectic your schedule, but also still poignant and thought provoking enough to linger in your mind and make you evaluate what it is you are struggling with.
for sure a book I will reread for a long time to come. Wishing I had it in book form so I could mark it and go right to the pages I need most instead of my kindle but will still use often. If you are in need of uplifting words or just need some help...this is a must.
This is a short devotional containing some verses and uplifting words for difficult days. Although I found some comfort from this book, it was rather repetitive. The Kindle version could use a good re-editing, too. Still, it was somewhat helpful and thought-provoking, and for that I'm grateful.
This book is true to its title! Easy to read, daily reminders of God's faithfulness. Great tool for witnessing also. Has plan of salvation in the back. :)
