Learn how to get what you want....Learn how to increase conversion rates on anything....Learn how to make it easier to write anything (using formulas and mind-hacks). The information in this book has turned keystrokes from my fingers, into millions of dollars in sales. Some of the concepts inside have been able to turn a poor man, into a rich man, by simply re-arranging some words on a page. This is an incredibly short book (about 54 pages) that you can read in one sitting. If this book gives you even one tip that increases the performance of your writing....(and keep in mind, writing is a skill you will keep your whole life)....then this will be a fantastic investment for yourself. This information is laid out in the same way I made my famous KopywritingKourse. The structure of that course just naturally taught people how to write better in a logical and fun way. This book is in the same format, except you can go over it anywhere (although watch the video KopywritingKourse for live examples). I invite you to spend 45 minutes with me reading this book. STEP 1.) Grab a beverage of your choice. I prefer a beer or tea when reading. STEP 2.) Grab a notepad and pen before starting (for notes) STEP 3.) Find a very comfortable place to sit and read this book. STEP 4.) Begin absorbing these mind-hacks and formulas laid out in the book....and apply them to your own writing. Enjoy the book, and please contact me if you have any questions before buying!Neville Medhora :: NevMed@gmail.com :: 713.301.1546
Covers the basics of good copywriting and can be read in half an hour. It has some decent pointers if you're just starting out. Nothing new, but it's not pretending to be. My only issue is the tone Neville writes in. The book reads like sales copy, but the slimy type that puts me off. It seems like it's trying to be a tad too "wacky", one of the things Neville warns against in the book. I'm not familiar with his other work, but I assume that's just his writing style. As such, people that subscribe to his stuff probably won't mind as much.
For a book about writing, this writer needs a better proofreader/editor. It's riddled with spelling mistakes and missing words. There's an example of an email in this book where the goal is to "Convince someone it's worth it to live" that's offensive to anyone with a mental illness. Plus, the quote graphic about copy being like a women's skirt is unnecessary - really living up to that caveman persona he apparently adapts when proofing. There were a few decent points - but ones you can garner from better books.
Good book for starters like me. Gives what it promises.
You will get an overview of useful techniques if you are just starting out. His writing style, however, is very light-hearted (I am afraid to use the word "shallow").Which leaves me thinking how could I write a copy in B2B segment, where it won't be acceptible. Generally I lacked more other examples of different tones that you can use if you don't want to sound too personal like he does.
Otherwise, it's a nice read and you can take it with you anywhere.
BUY THIS BOOK! Master copywriter gives you his BEST!
If you want to write to sell don’t underestimate the power of this little book.
The chapters are short, easy to read and written for slow learners like me.
I honestly... *** couldn’t put this book down, read in one sitting *** am gonna read it again *** will use as a desk reference for every project! (read it you’ll see why) *** have taken my writing on a new trajectory!
It's a fast read, which I love. Short and effective, like it clearly states on the cover. It gets right to the information and Neville tells you how to use it. For copywriters, it may not be a great investment (although worth a half-hour read and a few bucks to buy). For non-copywriters, it's an excellent, little handbook to teach the concepts of writing effective copy - whether a sales page or an email.
Terribly written book. It was recommended on one of the blogs I read, but after reading it I have no idea why. Read this if you want to sound like a teenage boy who has had too much caffeine and is trying to sound cool around his older brother's friends.
grāmata pamatā balstīta uz to, lai pārdotu savu biznesu, tāpēc loģiski, ka man to iedeva darba devējs, bet ne par to ir stāsts. te ir vairākas labas idejas, bet tikpat daudz lietām nepiekrītu vai nedarīšu praksē, lai gan ar to var nopelnīt/piesaistīt cilvēkus, tas tomēr ir ētikas jautājums, kas šeit netiek apspriests. ar to gribu teikt, ka šī ir vienkārši "apsēdos un uzrakstīju" tipa grāmata ar nelielu zināšanu bāzi, bet nekas profesionāls un nav jāņem par pilnu.
This is a short and sweet book that will give you excellent advice if you’re looking to write blogs or sales content. Neville gets straight to the point, and the book was literally 20 minutes long with the app I use to listen to books. His one piece of advice explaining that nobody cares about you is worth the cost of this book, but there’s much more value in here on top of that.
Don’t waste your money or time on this book. The few actual copywriting points he makes are easy to find from better, less conceited sources on the internet. Also, for a “book” on writing, it’s full of grammatical errors and obvious typos, which makes it even more difficult to follow.
This book is more like a handbook than anything. For anyone that struggles with getting thoughts on paper or computer screen, this handbook does a good job of getting the words out. As someone that seeks to better their communication skills, this book helped me get out of my own head and just say what I want to say. The language was a little edgy at times, but not too edgy that the information wasn't valuable. Nice short read and reasonably priced.
Neville hast a strong opinion on how you should write copy. And it's a very thin line he walks. Some things he write appear unsophisticated and to easy. But some things are clear advice and can be quickly used to make improvements.
What I liked is that he tried to compress it and get straight to the point. I read the book in half an hour and this is enough to grasp all the concepts.
I'll start by saying, this book was not what I was expecting. I am an author trying to learn more about the writing craft as it relates to fiction. This book is focused more on copy writing. And it also contains mild language (in my opinion) for those who are sensitive.
The reality is; in this day and age a writer cannot be excused from the knowledge of advertising and marketing. I hate the idea of luring people in based on worldly promises and playing on insecurities to further my own agenda, which is how I've come to view most advertising, no offence.
And while this book is all the tricks I've fallen for in advertising, it does teach you how to write better and the art of getting your content to the audience you desire in a funny and easy to understand way. Using this book I felt like knowing the rules will give me power to grow my platform under my own terms and values.
I can see myself writing better emails, blog posts for my intended audience, and making sales without compromising a single value of mine. So if you'd like to remain firm in your vision, this book can help you shoot your mark in the world of marketing.
Even though the book is really thin, it doesn't need to be any thicker to give good advice. Medhora explains very clearly ways to improve your copy that make it more compelling for your audience to subscribe, buy, and share your work/product. He also provides positive and negative examples to really make his points clear.
This would have been a 4 star rating, but the punctuation was really distracting. There were lots of unnecessary commas that interrupted sentence flow, and even though he says it doesn't matter if you have extra periods in your ellipses, it mattered to me.
All in all, this is a good resource to have if you sell anything, because it teaches you easy ways to quickly improve your communication with your clients.
Covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time. If you are new to copywriting, it's a near little booklet to get you moving in the right direction, but by no means comprehensive. It has some useful tidbits in it that you can apply to your (mostly non-fiction) writing.
The layout is pretty awful, it really seems like a long word document with plenty of bold text, headings, and underlinings was just thrown into a book, regardless of how it would look on the printed page. It feels thrown together and the text could have used a proper proof-read, therefor I feel hard-pressed to give it anything above 2 stars.
When I first decided to read this book, I said to myself : if I get bored within the first page, this book has nothing to teach me.
And thankfully that didn't happend I didn't feel boredom even a second, that prooved the effeciency of the writer, I finished the book in 2 seats.
The book is realy realy usefull and a must read for everyone communicating by writing.
Easy simple tips and tricks, and easy formulas, will improve your writing, and if you are a salesman and didn't read this book yet, you missed a lot my friend.
His advice is simple and short and the book is simple and short.
Write like with mindset "people care about themselves not you"
And the life making formula AIDA by him is one of best formula that can work for novice as well as pro writer. AIDA: Grab their ATTENTION, Invoke INTEREST (by comparing or showing facts), Induce DESIRE, and finally make them to take action.
Simple, Short and Working formula. Thanks Mr. Neville for this book.
I will implement this and hope I can write a copy that sells.
I really enjoyed this book. It provided a lot of useful writing "hacks" and examples of what to do and what not to do when crafting effective, interesting copy. The author has a sarcastic sense of humor that I just loved and I liked that he cut to the chase and didn't make this book 300 pages long when it didn't need to be. I would definitely recommend it.
This book is super helpful. I am new to copywriting and Neville gave advice that could really help me avoid a amateur mistake. I feel one step closer to giving copywriting a try!
There were a couple errors here and there. He could've had an editor take a quick look. But he just seems like a genuine guy, offering an easy how-to read, where you walk away with more knowledge than expected. 5 stars, recommended for copywriters!
Although it did not come with something totally new, the book keeps everything short and simple. You can read it in a couple of hours and it's a really good reminder for some basic copywriting rules. Good to keep on hand when you feel you need some inspiration of a quick refresh of basic rules of copywriting.
After reading this book, my thoughts are like - I am ready to rock the copywriting business. This book is crisp and to the point. This book teaches you the basics of persuasive writing skills such as tailoring attention, interest, desire in your copy. Neville has done a great job. I would definitely recommend this book for a beginner in Copywriting.
