Chinese philosopher Confucius, originally Kong Fuzi and born circa 551 BC, promoted a system of social and political ethics, emphasizing order, moderation, and reciprocity between superiors and subordinates; after his death in 479 BC, disciples compiled the Analects , which contains a collection of his sayings and dialogues.

Teachings of this social thinker deeply influenced Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese life.

The saying lost in translation is so true. Pick up several of these books by a different author/translator, glance around and you'll notice how each interprets every sentence in their own way. Slight changes in wording create whole new ways of viewing a passage and its topic. Wow, I only wish I knew another language well enough to read philosophical writings such as this.

The book was not so interesting and the translation was not very good. Take into account that this translation dates back to 1900, so there are more recent ones available.
