When my life goes up in flames, the last thing I expect is to become a glorified babysitter for a rowdy rock and roll band. But Noah James isn’t your typical entitled and reckless rockstar—he’s my best friend. The person who’s always been there to catch me when I fall.
Of course, there was that incident involving him, a public fountain, nudity, and a spontaneous rock anthem. Let’s tuck that little gem away for now, shall we?
When the label threatens to yank Noah from his tour, he pleads with me to be his voice of reason on the road. And how could I say no? I’ve been doing it since we were kids—a seasoned pro. Besides, he swears we’ll have a blast, and right now? Fun is what I need.
But here’s the kicker: one steamy night changes everything, and suddenly the status quo that we agreed on—that tomorrow will be the same as yesterday—goes up in smoke. Now we’re left trying to find a new rhythm to our friendship.
As the tour continues and my feelings grow louder, my heart yearns for an encore. Noah is playful, mischievous, and so damn fun. And our banter? Off the charts. But losing Noah is not an option. Not when I’ve already lost everything else. With his sweet crooning and flirty teasing? He’s making it awfully hard.
And when my feelings start singing a ballad that could rival any chart-topper? I realize I’m in trouble.

Friends to lovers ✔️ Amazing character development ✔️ Easy to follow plot ✔️ Spice ✔️ Slow burn ✔️ If any of those check your boxes PLEASE read this book. The only thing I'd like to see more of is Jamie working a little harder on himself. Besides that😍😍😍
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I received an ARC of this book and I'm so glad I did! I've read a few others by Everly before and this one didn't disappoint. Great characters and the chapters are dual pov so we get to see things from both Noah and Jaime's perspectives. Even though I wanted to shake Noah because he can be pretty frustrating at times, I like him anyway. Jaime is much more patient than I am!
Really cute love story and a peek at the other Boys of Clear Lake. Can't wait to read the next one!

"I felt like I was in one of those movies she used to make me watch when it was her movie night picks. The ones that matched those smutty books she liked to read. Where friends become lovers and rifts become gaping caverns of miscommunication."
This book gave me all the emotions, Jamie and Noah are so frustrating lol. If you like Rockstar Romance, miscommunication Tropes and friends to lovers I'd recommend this book to you 🫶🏻
"This woman. This superhero . My best friend. This beautiful, brave, stubborn woman I’d grown up with and admired and loved."
The last few chapters had me in tears, Happy tears, sad tears, just all the emotions. This book is definitely an emotional roller coaster.
Chapters that had me Crying. 🖤Chapter 32 🖤Chapter 34
Make sure you read the Epilogue! I cant wait to read more from the loneliest nights.
This is a friend to lovers’ book that doesn’t get much better. Noah and Jaime have been friends forever so when Noah, the rocker living a rockstar life, wants Jaime to help him out with his image, you know she won’t say no. They’ve always been there for each other. Now that they are in close proximity of each other one-night changes it all. Their friendship morphs into something so much more.
I loved this rock romance and Noah and Jaime had me rooting for them throughout. I am so glad that I got my HEA with this couple. Now I need more on the Boys of Clear Lake.
Loveddd this book Was my first ARC read* and really wasn’t disappointed! One of my top reads 💯 Can’t wait to see what else this authors got 😈
This is entirely my opinion, The fact it was an ARC read does not mean the review has to be good or that I was forced to leave a good review, the book was genuinely a great read 👀❤️
I started this book on a Thursday, finished it on Friday, and immediately picked up the next in the series on Saturday and have read through them, anxiously awaiting Ty's story to release!
K.C. Everly is one of my favorite new contemporary romance writers. The feelings she evokes when I'm reading just keep me pulled into the book and the characters. I root for them SO hard. They feel like real people.
Noah and Jaime were just so, so sweet. Their friendship was palpable, and while I wanted so badly for them to just tell each other they loved one another, I completely understood *why* they didn't or wouldn't. To me, that's the sign of a great book. It was so believable and relatable, which is kind of funny because usually rockstar romances are anything but! However, this book was definitely a fresh take on the trope.
If you like great dialogue and banter, fantastic chemistry, and a wave of emotions through a character-driven story, you'll love this one. Steamy scenes are fantastic as well. Just the right amount for a story like this, and definitely hot.
This is the delightful story of Jaime and Noah, two best friends since forever. Noah is a rockstar with the band The Loneliest Nights and Jaime just broke up with her boyfriend and was a little lost. When Noah screws up on the road, he wants his best friend to keep an eye on him. When they were younger, they were firmly in the friend zone because "how could they become lovers and still maintain their friendship?" When I hear that excuse, I seriously cringe, but at least these two realized that they were meant to be more. I loved this story, the characters and the low angst.
I discovered this author while searching for ARCs and stumbled on the 3rd in this series. While waiting to find out if I’ll get it, I decided to read the first two (clearly to torture myself) because this book was SO GOOD.
I’m a sucker for rockstar romance but they tend to piss me off with how outrageous and inaccurate they are. KC Everly shocked me in the BEST way with Same as Yesterday.
Jamie and Noah are such a cute couple who have real struggles and slight misunderstandings but actually TALK and understand each other. Fml it’s so good.
*sigh* This book. I laughed. I cried. I got angry. I laughed again. And the hea? Gosh, perfection.
I think I've read most of Everly's books at this point and I am loving the direction her writing continues to go. Banter is always, always on point. Such a great mix of realistic, relatable, and FUNNY while breaking your heart for a beat the next minute. If you like emotional, character-driven books, this one is for you.
Jaime and Noah have been best friends since childhood, each there for the other when they needed someone. Completely platonic friendship... Until not. Now they don't know what to do about it when neither wants to mess up their friendship because of how important it is.
Now, this friends to lovers trope can be tricky. Sometimes in books I just don't buy it. Either that neither knew or wanted more earlier or the chemistry after when there's a pursuit or conflict. But in this book? *Chef's kiss* I believed it all. The chemistry came off the page and I totally bought into the obstacles holding them back, despite my frustrations with how many times I wanted to shake them and be like, "You love each other!"
I received an advanced copy in exchange for an *honest* review. And honestly? I ate this book up. Noah was charming and perfect despite his many flaws and imperfections. His childhood trauma and past with his dad? Punches you right in the gut. His background and residual impact was handled and written so well.
And Jaime's playing life safe and doing what she thinks she should? Relatable for sure. Loved that she found her family, a purpose mixing with her passion, and was still a solid base for Noah.
Steam is great--emotionally charged and HOT. Probably three peppers out of five. When Noah says, "Let me take you back to your room, Jaime." I SCREAMED. Lol. 🥵
And the boys?! Gaaaaaaaaah! I pre-ordered Reed's book today because I have all the confidence I'll love it because Everly wrote it. Will be buying a paperback of S.A.Y. for my "favorites" shelf.
"I was so afraid you'd see the worst in me and hate me as much as I hated myself." --Noah
"Because even when I'd shown her my worst, she never looked away, let alone left. Jaime would always be on my side, and I thought if she wanted to be there, I genuinely deserved it." --Noah, just killing me 🤣
Like, come onnnnnnnn. This was emotional and heartbreaking and then heartwarming. NO third-act breakup (perfect for this story). My favorite so far, and I can't wait to read about the other boys.
Same As Yesterday is an incredibly sweet and touching story about childhood friends falling in love unexpectedly. This trope can be overdone at times or just poorly done, but in this case, it was perfect. I truly believed that Jaime and Noah were friends and hadn't been hiding with their head in the sand. Their love was just *that* profound and important for each of them.
There's a line in the book-- "It had nothing to do with romance or crushes or infatuation. Our friendship transcended any of that. It always had, which was why everything felt so delicate. It was also the reason our affection was indestructible." --absolute perfection in summing this couple up, which honestly? Made the story completely believable. Jaime and Noah had been there for each other through the highs and lows, loving and accepting one another.
Tropes include rockstar romance, childhood friends to lovers, found family (my absolute favorite and so well done in this book), broken hero, strong female lead, banter, and a slow burn. I'm not a huge slow burn fan (I get so frustrated, lol), but it never bothers me in a K.C. Everly book. It just feels right for the stories she writes, and the tension was well worth the wait in this book. I could practically feel it radiating at times in the story, and it only deepened the affection between Jaime and Noah when they did have their big moments.
I almost never review on Goodreads, but I received an ARC copy of Same As Yesterday and am beyond thrilled to give my honest opinion and feedback on the story. Full disclosure: I love K.C. Everly's books. I love them so much that I reached out to be on her ARC team. Her writing style is so witty and clever and I completely fall into the stories that she writes. I love stories that really dive into a character's mindset and backstory, and her books always do. There seems to always been something related to mental health as well or a character struggling, and for me that feels super relatable and I love it. It makes this fantasy escape still feel real somehow, and that's a good read to me.
This is the 3rd book I’ve read by KC Everly and I continue to fall in love with her stories and characters! I received an ARC via BookSirens, this is my honest review.
4.5 stars!
I absolutely loved Noah and Jaime (James). This is a friends to lovers, rockstar romance with mental health awareness peppered in. KC always seems to include some scope of mental health issues and awareness and they are always written so well and portrayed so accurately.
Noah comes from a home with a drunk, abusive father and a mother who abandoned him. Jaime lives with her single dad, who is so loving and the very best dad. She helps Noah (6 years old) and his sister one night during a drunken tirade from his father and they become the very best of friends and Noah becomes like a son to Jaime’s dad as they grow up. As adults, they remain best friends, but their lives have gone in different directions-Noah now part of a popular, touring band and Jaime coming out of a bad relationship, no home/job returns home to sell her dad’s house. Noah has many issues from the abuse he received growing up and tries to hide his demons, refusing to share them with his 3 guy best friends, band mates and even Jaime. In an attempt to “keep him anchored” and bring some fun into Jaime’s life, she agrees to join him on tour as their band assistant. But one night before they leave, boundaries are crossed and neither knows how to proceed without risking losing the greatest friendship of their lives. Noah thinks he’s not good enough and Jaime doesn’t know what to think as he spirals downward.
This story has the very best HEA, spicy scenes, characters are well developed and a story that keeps your interest peaked. I can’t wait to read about the other 3 guys (Ty, Reed, Ezra)!!
Highly recommend any book by KC Everly, but this is such a good one! I’m an avid e-reader, but will be adding the paperback to my “trophy” shelf, where I keep all my beast loved books!
Same As Yesterday By KC everly- Jaime & Noah's story🖤💜.
"Same As Yesterday, Jamie. Promise"
This is the first book that I have read by this author, and it won't be the last!! This book had me laughing, crying and laughing again, The banter between the characters is very realistic and the storyline was fantastic! This series is about the 4 friends from Clear Lake that are brothers Noah, Reed, Ty and Ezra. I really enjoyed this book and getting to know the characters, I hope the author is bringing out all there stories. I can't wait to see what else happens. I highly recommend it.
"This woman. This superhero, My best friend, This beautiful, brave, stubborn woman I’d grown up with and admired and loved."
Noah & Jaime have been best friends since they were 6 years old, Jaime saved Noah and his sister from their abusive father.! Fast forward Noah has become a famous rockstar, but when he hears that Jaime's dad died, he rushes home to be by her side. (Swoon). Jaime's dad was more of a father to him than his own father ever was.
"I was so afraid you'd see the worst in me and hate me as much as I hated myself." --Noah
A year after her dad's death, Jaime is still struggling. She quit her job and broke up with her long-time boyfriend. Noah talks Jaime into coming on tour with his band as there assistant. It doesn't take them long before their friendship becomes so much more! The relationship between Jaime and Noah was so sweet, they were each other's everything. The spice was spicy 🥵🔥.
"This isn't a favour, Jaime. This isn't a lonely moment, need for release, or escape. This isn't just for fun".
This is the first book that I have read by this author .. and it won't be my last! This book had me laughing one minute at the band's escapades and crying the next with the hardships they had to face. The banter between the characters is very realistic and the storyline deals with everyday problems. This series is about the 4 friends from Clear Lake that were more like brothers ... Noah, Reed, Ty and Ezra. But I also hope that the author will have a series for Noah's bandmates in The Loneliest Nights ... Jax, Spencer and Matt ... as rockstars are my absolute favorite.
Noah and Jaime have been best friends since they were six years old, when Jaime saved Noah and his sister from their abusive father. Noah has become a famous rockstar, but when he hears that Jaime's dad died, he rushes home to be by her side. After all, Jaime's dad was more of a father to him than his own father was. A year after her dad's death, Jaime is still struggling. She quit her job and broke up with her long-time boyfriend. Noah talks Jaime into coming on tour with his band as their babysitter ... I mean, assistant. It doesn't take long for their friendship to become so much more.
𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: rockstar, childhood best friends to lovers, slow burn, found family
𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: alcohol, abusive childhood
I really liked this book, and I will definitely read more books written by this author.
Jamie is very sweet, calm and patient. She is there for him and tries to help him overcome his difficulties, but at the same time she is scared not to lose her friendship with him.
Noah comes from a family where his father was always drunk and abusive, and his mother abandoned him. He and his sister find peace when Jamie's father takes them under his wing. Noah has always been just a friend to Jamie, but everything changes when they cross those boundaries the night he returns to see for the last time the only house where he felt safe.
Also, that night, Jamie agrees to go on tour with him and the band because they need help. But what she doesn't know is that Noah has deep issues that nobody knows about them until the very end.
Their story is a very beautiful one, with many ups and downs, but they always find their way to each other.
Thank you K.C. Everly for the opportunity to read this amazing book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a swoony and emotional read for anyone who likes a great friends to lovers trope and excellent character arc.
I've read KC Everly in the past, and enjoyed her books. I look forward to reading more in this series and for the next books to come out.
There are heavier themes related to emotional and mental health in this book, and they were written sensitively, well, and believably. I loved Noah and what a good guy he was--a nice change of pace from the bad boy rockstar image I'm used to. I loved that Jaime supported him, and that she didn't let him down when he needed her the most. They truly were friends who were there for one another through it all. I laughed a lot while reading, I also cried, and I got flipping frustrated at times that they didn't just throw down and get to it, lol. But I do love a slow burn, and I think the build up made sense for this friendship that neither wanted to ruin because it was everything to one another.
I'll read the rest of the series as it's released. From the backmatter, it looks like Reed's story is up next. I'm curious to read about it! Though admittedly, I'm looking forward to Ezra's story. I do like me a brooding and angsty one. Lol.
Jaime and Noah, the sweetest combination of friends forever, always there for each other and deep love. Jaime was mourning the loss of her father and had left everything behind in Seattle. She was struggling with the changes but her best friend, Noah was there for her as he always had been. Noah and Jaime loved each other as best friends but one night together changed that. Noah's band was touring and he asked her to join them as an assistant and promised her it would be fun. They promised each other after their steamy night together that the next day and other days to follow would be the same as yesterday but feelings started to change and as they circled around each other through the ups and downs, it was obvious that they were in love with each other. There was angst and laughter and other steamy times and thoughts of 'are we really doing this'. They do get their happy ever after but not before struggling through Noah's problems caused by his father who had problems with alcohol. I recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the guys in the band. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Jaime Sullivan rescued Noah James and his sister, Molly, from their raging father one night. From that point on, Noah and Molly became family to Jaime and her father, who became more of a father to Noah than his own. Through all their years growing up and on into Noah's fame as a part of the rock band, The Loneliest Nights, Jaime and Noah have maintained their friendship.
Their lives have taken very different paths, but they both go off the rails at the same time. Jaime has lost everything that matters and she’s trying to find her new path. And Noah has had one too many public drunkenness episodes and the label is threatening to drop him. So Jaime agrees to go on tour with the guys to keep Noah and the band in line. Not an easy task, but when friendship turns into more, they'll have to deal with that, as well.
While this one is a bit messy and I could have done with less details about bad rock star behavior, I loved the growing romance between two life-long friends. Their story is humorous, steamy, and full of heart, and sure to be a favorite among rock star romance readers.
Book 1 in Everly's The Boys from Clear Lake series and a great into to a new series. A well written friends to lover's romance with great characters, told in dual point of view. Noah and Jaime have been friends forever, best friends and are always there for one another. Noah is out living the rockstar life when he asks Jaime to join him to help keep him on the straight and narrow - of course she can't say no, they've always had their backs - only one steamy night together changes their dynamic in ways that can't be undone. A beautiful, emotional and captivating romance you won't be able to put down. I can't wait for more!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A best-friends to lovers romance that was sweet, emotional (& spicy!) and just sucked me right in.
Jaime had recently lost her father, but Noah was worried he was turning into his own father, and often turned to alcohol to numb that worry. Which was completely the wrong way to handle it. When he's ordered to sober up and behave on the tour with his band, Jaime comes along to help keep him (& the rest of the members) in line.
The relationship between Jaime and Noah was sweet. They were each other's everything, just when they were friends, but they just worked as a couple. When Noah was having a hard time and vulnerable, Jaime never shied away.
I really enjoyed this story. I'm looking forward to more in this series - I'd love to see each character get their happy ending!
Jaime and Noah had been friends since forever. They were still best friends even though Noah was away on tour and Jaime had a live in boyfriend. Everything changed when Noah screwed up big time and was going to need a babysitter. Jaime broke up with her boyfriend and was just lost and jobless. So since she’s his best friend he offers her the job of babysitter and maybe get her out of that funk she’s in. These two have great chemistry and the story is good but it drags a little. I really liked his school friends, the band members were awesome and I can’t wait to read about them. Noah had mad issues but I enjoyed the ride. The ending was good and I’m giving it four stars and recommend it.
I am not usually one who is for friends to lovers because sometimes it feels so out of left field that it didn’t make sense but I loved how this progressed between the two. And as we know, a one time hook up will never work and you see how these two navigate trying to figure out if that one night meant more than they thought themselves but also, trying to figure out how the other feels.
The chemistry was there, came off the page. LOVED the supporting characters and can’t wait to see what comes next in the series.
Loved this one! Can't wait to read the rest of The Boys.
Noah and Jaime were such sweet characters. Loved their banter and the writing on this one. Loved how relatable and believable their frustrations were in figuring things out. Even when it frustrated me, haha.
Definitely recommend this one if you like emotional romances focused on character arcs and growth. The tension was low-key (until it wasn't). Not a lot of external drama (but lots of funny situations on the road). Overall loved it.
Loooooooved this friends to lovers book!!! Definitely not a typical rockstar romance, and I found that refreshing. Jaime and Noah had such great chemistry and a solid friendship that I rooted for the entire time. Their banter was chef's kiss 💋 Definitely give this a read if you love a good character arc/development, friends to lovers, and to get all the feelings.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Read 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 spice (for me) 💯 recommend
I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an *honest* review. This review is definitely honest. Read the book 😍
This is my second book I’ve read by K.C. Everly and it was just as good as the first I read. Her witty humor comes across in all her characters as they develop throughout the story. I loved the best friends to lovers in this story as well as the supporting cast of characters being long time childhood friends. If you’re looking for a great romcom and don’t mind the sailor mouths some of the characters have, you won’t be disappointed! I can’t wait for the next in the series to come out!
Such a sweet story! I loved seeing their connection as they grew up together. The connections they had with friends, past and current.
The spice was slow at first but intense! The tension between Noah and Jaimie drove me insane. I wanted to scream at them and also laugh and cry with them. The spice was sprinkled throughout and wrapped in emotions!
I can't wait to meet the rest of the boys from Clear Lake!
Loved this one! I'm not usually a fan of rockstar romances, but saw K.C. Everly had a new book and I love their stuff and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did!!! This isn't a typical bad boy rocker who is tamed by the right woman. This is SUCH a sweet friends to lovers slow burn.
The characters were phenomenal. All of them. I laughed so much. And cried! So many emotions. Can't wait to read the next in the series ❤️
I loved reading about Jaime and Noah so much! Seeing how their friendship started and grew over the years and how they came back together despite the changes and distance, it made my heart really happy. Jaime is so great for Noah, helping him clean up his act and being so patient with him through everything. And even though Noah had bumps in the road, he still wanted to change for better so he can be someone Jamie deserves. This book is starting to get me to like friends to lovers more.
Same As Yesterday by K. C. Everly is a good, and enjoyable steamy childhood friends to lovers slow burn rock star romance read. The story has a great entertaining story line. The characters are great, witty humor, and they have great chemistry. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
