Charity Thompson wants to save the world, one hospital at a time. Instead of finishing med school to become a doctor, she chooses a different path and raises money for hospitals – new wings, equipment, whatever they need. Except there is one hospital she would be happy to never set foot in again--her fathers. So of course he hires her to create a gala for his sixty-fifth birthday. Charity can’t say no. Now she is working in the one place she doesn’t want to be. Except she’s attracted to Dr. Elijah Bennet, the handsome playboy chief. Will she ever prove to her father that’s she’s more than a med school dropout? Or will her attraction to Elijah keep her from repairing the one thing she desperately wants to fix?
** This is NOT erotica. It's Romance and a love story. ** * This is a two book series: Part 1 and Part 2 * )
Saving Forever - Part 1 by Lexy Timms is the first part of a continuing contemporary romance story under the same name. Depending on where you get the information this is a 2, 3, 5 or 8 part story..... my sarcasm is probably being missed on the internet... but it looks to have 8 parts on Amazon now with this first one being free of charge.
This first part of the series introduces Charity Thompson who works at a career in fundraising for hospitals. Charity's father is the head of a hospital and he is about to turn sixty-five and wants to do a big fundraiser event for his birthday so he calls and asks for Charity's help. After arriving at her father's hospital Charity meets Dr. Elijah Bennet and the two share a mutual attraction.
I wasn't sure if I truly believed the disclaimer that this one wasn't erotica, especially since it's one of the incorrect total advertisements as to how many parts are to this story too. However, the story really was nothing but these two characters meeting, that's it. Now I'm one that would complain over too much angst and tension in a romance but give me something happening please. There just wasn't much of anything to connect to with this to make me want to read further and I'm sure I will forget all of what I did read fairly quickly. Guess I should have known since it wasn't even properly marketed.
Nothing happened. No conflict, no tension, nothing. It was all 'hunky-dory' really.
But THEN ---
The story (Part 1) finished at 59% FIFTY NINE PER CENT IN!! Will authors STOP cheating readers this way?? If I download a book is it too much to expect the actual story to consist of at least 90% of the download??
So, what happens in the other 41% of the 'download' ????
You get the first four chapters of Book 2 and THAT takes you to just 72%
AND THEN you get the first chapters of some random story. I read the blurb. It doesn't make any sense. 'Basking in bridal bliss, Ashly feels she is living the perfect fairytale, until she's faced with a runaway groom, dumped at the altar by bad boy fiancé Jake Connors.'
So, Ashly is at the altar, and her bad boy fiancée dumps a runaway groom on her?? Ouch. Could be painful especially if the runaway groom is a hefty character - images of a bride lying crushed at the altar!! And, if she is there with her fiancé, which one is she supposed to marry then? ;)
I read the blurb for book one in this series -- it sounded like something a little different -- and it was free, so I one-clicked. This is a new-to-me-author. There were errors throughout and you know how I feel about easily fixable edits--'nuff said. Even so, something about this one kept me reading. And when I finished book one, I one-clicked on book 2, then on to 3 and 4. Yeah, this series is turning out to be one I don't really understand why, but it has grabbed me and held on. I like the mix of characters, particularly the father/daughter difficulties and how that third party -- the gorgeous New Zealand chief of staff plays right into the scenario.
Not one I'll keep on the re-read shelf but storyline was something a little different, and it served its purpose for a long and rainy week.
This was a good start of the series I can't wait to see want happens next with Elijah and Charity.
{MY LIKE SCALE} Romance: 3/5 (NOT MUCH BUT I CAN SEE IT'S COMING) Drama: 4/5 (NOT MUCH JUST WITH CHARITY'S DAD) Cover: 3/5 (OKAY COVER) Charity: 4/5 (I LIKE HER FOR NOW BUT I FEEL LIKE SHE GOING TO HAVE SOME ANNOYING MOMENTS) Elijah: 4.5/5 (SO FAR IN MY EYES HE'S A GREAT HERO) Writings: 4/5 (GOOD SO FAR) Humour: 3/5 (HAD A LITTLE) Hotness: 2/5 (NOTHING SO FAR BUT I CAN SEE IT BUILDING) HEA:
["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
This wasn't so bad. Yes it ended on a cliffhanger but it wasn't stupid, sure it doesn't make me want to run and buy the next part to this series, probably because Charity and Elijah are two of the most boring people ever! The author stresses that this isn't erotica but a love story...maybe it needs a splash of that erotica because I've never read about a more slower moving couple ever! It just made the book drag, were they attracted to each other or what! Where's the white hot passion, the raw sensuality..they were just so unsure...which is strange because he's supposedly not only an accomplished doctor/surgeon, but also extremely popular with the ladies; and Charity stood her ground when leaving medical school to pursue her dream. Two strong individuals who are lacking that something that gears them in the same directional pull towards one another...do I really want to spend actual money on THREE more books, two with more cliffhangers, just to see them even more indecisive? NOPE!
I'm not really impressed or into this book. Charity is sort of dumb or naïve now sure which. Or annoying. "Oh was he flirting" "Oh did he just ask me on a date" "Oh that was strange". And spelling errors bother me always. Of course half way trough the book there still isn't a point. Is the point her dating or fixing things with her father. Then all of the sudden Charity and Elijah are all about each other and making out. Yadda yadda, weird! The end.
I just felt after finishing this I could've enjoyed a different book.
And the only reason I even downloaded it was because it said it was a 2 books story. After I started I thought maybe I'll get the second book now it's 4. No thank you. I'm annoyed and don't wish to continue the story.
I'm impatiently waiting for part 2!! Charity runs a business basically helping charities plan fundraisers. Her new contract in Atlanta will keep her busy there for the next two years. Her father calls from New York asking her to plan his birthday/fundraiser for his hospital. While in New York she meets the new chief of staff, Elijah. Immediately attracted to him. She continues to go back to New York on weekends to work on her father's project, getting closer to Elijah. Elijah is a ladies man, if you can believe the chatter in the hospital it seems he's slept with every nurse and resident.
Now waiting for part 2 so I can see where this goes!
Can't wait for book two Charity is a girl on a mission to save her hospital in Atlanta, she loves her job. Charity gets asked to forsee her father's birthday party , she doesn't want to go back to New York and listen to her father go on about how Charity should have finished med school. While in New York at her father's hospital Charity meets the sexy Dr Elijah Bennett. Sparks fly between this two. This book was more about this characters getting to know each other, I really enjoyed it, this a great book about them getting to know each other and the chemistry that is there. hope second book has the passion.
I enjoyed this super short story, even though there were a few unanswered questions left (I'm guessing that it will be book two). There were only minor typos, the story was an easy, fun read, and I loved the detailed descriptions to help me visualize the scenery. I can't wait to find out who the protagonist ends up with (there was hinting at a doctor in Atlanta and a sexy one in NY, too). Can't wait to see if her dad loves the party and for all the loose ends to be tied up. Story left me wanting to read more.
I really liked this book. The main character was one I'd enjoy reading about over and over. Sometimes I find characters that are ones I'd like to know in real life. Charity was one of those characters. I also enjoyed her relationship with Elijah and with Julie and Simon. I can't wait to read what happens to them in book 2.
My only issue with the book was the editing. Within a couple of pages I was finding things that were wrong and should have been caught in the editing.
I enjoyed reading Lexy's Saving Forever. It was a most enjoyable read & am looking forward to the next book "2". I also read the trailer for "My Dispicable Ex" which seems to be as well scripted and as much fun to read.
It was a really good book, I just wish it would have been a little longer. I was 50% done with the book when it ended and gave me a preview of the second book. There was a lot of filler and I wish there would have been more between the two couples and possibly what the deal is with the Dr. in Atlanta. Guess I will have to give book 2 a shot to find out!
Saving Forever Part One was a good short contemporary romance story. The only thing stopping me from giving it five stars were the constant grammatical errors, entire words that were left out so sentences didn't make sense, and misused words. The story itself was great as were the main characters: Charity and Elijah. I'm hoping part two was edited more carefully.
The writing kind of bothered me but the story was interesting enough that I finished it. As the title implies, the story ended on a cliffhanger. I was tempted to buy part 2 until I saw the price. I refuse to pay $3.99 for a novella, especially when the writing isn’t that great.
I liked where the story was going but seriously cutting the book in half is disrespectful to potential readers. I don't want to spend the money on the next book because who knows if it comes to a conclusion. why waste my money.
Well I liked this book, but I hate getting a book and you think it is the whole book and only a teaser of book one. I got this read in a collection of stories and I will not do that no more. I hate just part one here and there. But this was a good book though.
This is part one of a three part book. This is a great story about Charity and Elijah. great writing. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.
3.5 stars for the slowest burn ever!!! I liked Charity's character. the name was kinda cute for what her profession was. Almost like she was destined to do it. Conflict with her father, brief mentions of Malcolm, who worked for her father and then her love interest came along. I liked Elijah. He was cute. I just wanted more affectionate moments between them while their relationship developed. I'm familiar with the author's books, so i didn't expect an ending, just a bit more heat for these two characters. There was a kiss and a few situations that could've led to a sexy buildup but it just fizzled due to outside forces. Charity's friend Julie was okay, but i wasn't really interested in them talking about her feelings for Elijah. I wanted to see the couple together! Charity had a moment where she wanted to have the tenderness that Julie had with Simon. I didn't like the comparison because Charity could've had that with Elijah. She had chances but would just dismiss it and THEN wistfully hope that she'd get to have her way with him. Part one ended after a threatening situation that Elijah took care of. It was frustrating, but i appreciate that part two's sample was given, and there was the perfect setup for sex, but still nothing. Malcolm has a scene with her around Chapter four, platonic but hmm, not sure if I'll continue with the series. I'll start on another by this author, since i generally like her books.
Saving Forever by Lexy Timms was overall a good story and I enjoyed the characters quite a lot.
Charity, a women who has drive and smarts never wanted to be a doctor like her father. Instead she dropped out of med school and instead became a fundraiser for hospitals. She loved her job and worked for many different hospital. Then her father approached her to do an event for his hospital and as much as she hated the idea she couldn't refuse. In doing this event for her father she ended up meeting Elijah and wow was he sweet and sexy. Part one of Saving Forever focuses on the beginning of what I can only hope a wonderful love affair. Over all it was a wonderful story and I look forward to Part 2.
Charity Thompson studied medicine, but decided that following in her fathers footsteps was not going to be her calling. Instead, she raises money to help hospitals buy whatever they need. A new wing or equipment, whatever they need. But she'll happily never set foot inside her dad's hospital. So who does he ask to arrange a charity gala for his 65th birthday? Yep! You guessed it, Charity.
She doesn't want to do it, but bridges need to be repaired, don't they? Or has her acquiescence got more to do with the charismatic Dr. Elijah Bennett?
This is the beginning of the romance between Charity and Elijah. She's professional fundraiser for hospitals, he's chief of staff at her father's hospital. She's been asked by her father to coordinate a fundraiser/65th birthday party in her father's honor. In the meantime she and Elija dance around their attraction to one another. Will a long distance relationship work? Is he too much of a player?
