Lily Parnell is the total package. She’s smart, beautiful, and musically gifted.
When Lily secures a slot to study music in Miami, she believes she's realizing her dream to go to the US, focus on her music, and share an apartment with her childhood American girlfriend. The only thing she never factored into her plans was her world colliding with that of Alfie Black's.
Alfie Black is a brilliant rocker trying to make it big. This musician's magnetic charm, hot-as-sin looks, and smooth talking ways have a hypnotic effect on women.
Within one day of arriving in Miami, Lily's life plan of paradise and her morals are turned on its head. The journey that follows takes Lily on the wildest roller coaster of emotions, dilemmas, heartache, and passion she never imagined possible.
Lily has changed everything in pursuit of her goal: her friends, her home, her country. The only constants are two things: her music; and the fact that Alfie won't commit to more, telling Lily what they have is enough. As much as she wants to be Alfie’s girl, Lily knows enough isn’t everything.

Her emotional novels have gained a loyal following for her 'real to life' characters who sometimes face challenges in their quest for love. Many readers have fallen for her book boyfriends and when K.L. isn't writing, she lives in the English countryside with her husband and enjoys live music and socializing with friends
This is KL's first ever book and to be honest you really wouldn't know, I cannot recommend it enough! I was hooked from the start, it flowed so well and had me completely invested in the characters from start to finish.
It is about Lily leaving the UK for the US where she is studying music at college. She is living with her 2 best friends and is looking forward to the new start. She is quite innocent to the other sex but this soon changes when she meets Alfie!
Alfie is studying music also and is a little older than her. You can feel the chemistry between them instantly and their instant attraction to one another. Unfortunately Alfie isn't the commitment type guy that Lily would like but they begin an 'arrangement' they both agree on.
Many different things happen to Lily, there is a whole roller coaster of things pulling and pushing them apart, a lot of emotions, but I won't give it away because i don't want to spoil it!
I can't wait to see more of Alfie, what his reasons are for his lack of ability to commit, what else happens between him ad Lily and what happens in the relationships of their friends also.
I loved this book, I was completely hooked, the roller coaster of events and emotions were pretty intense at times and had some very HOT scenes too! It does end with a cliffhanger but it is the first book of a trilogy so this is expected, however the second one is out now so I'll be diving into it asap!
I am on the 0643 into London, for another day at the office; the good news is today I have the luxury of a seat. The even better news is that I have another two books in the Everything series by Indie author K.L. Shandwick , to keep me company for the next few weeks journey to and from work. I have just finished her first book and all I can say is Wow. This read transported me on a daily basis into the new world of Lily and her adventure of going to college in Miami. As the story builds it paints a picture, of Lily’s development as a young woman, and her relationship with the inked, pierced, panty melting, straight talking man that is Alfie. I became totally engrossed in this book, it made me laugh, get emotional, and certain chapters I found myself taking quick glances at others around me, to make sure other passengers were not peering over my shoulder and sharing in my guilty pleasures. K.L. leaves enough room for the readers own imagination to build on the descriptions, this is clever writing, it gives the reader the opportunity to create a world around the story. This for me, is a good way to get the reader hooked, opposed the other books I have read, which provide the reader with descriptions in minutia giving no scope for the readers own interpretation. I really can’t wait to get started on the rest of the series, if you are looking for romantic, erotic escapism, The Everything series is the place to be, right now.
I really enjoyed this book. It's written from the the Lily's POV. Lily seemed a naive character and quite vulnerable at the beginning of the book. The story follows a young Lily's journey as she begins life across the pond in America where the main character Lily, is studying music. I LOVE Alfie's character, he's dark, very handsome, sexy and mysterious. The angst in this book, gave me strong emotions during various dialogues between Lily & Alfie. There are some very sexy scenes and fair amount of humour as well. I couldn't wait to get the second book, and I'm writing this after reading the first two books of the trilogy. There were more than a few twists and turns for Lily, the main character, and the ending left me with questions, I couldn't wait to know. After a few chapters I couldn't put it down, wanting to know what happened next. Great read, and I couldn't wait until the next book of this trilogy.
This book took me by surprise. It moved right along and brought me with it. I was cheering for the characters and I could feel the angst as well as the elation. I can remember some of those feelings from my younger self. Ahh L'more!! This is on my must reads list!!
Enough Isn't Everything is a highly addictive read!
It starts off with Lily starting her college career in Miami, FL. She has traveled all the way from London and is wanting to somewhat re-invent herself. She wants to be more outgoing and prove that she can do this on her on. She is beautiful and musically talented.
While at the college campus she stumbles upon a gorgeous guy playing the guitar and is entranced in his music ability and his breathtaking good looks. She has these feeling within that she has never experienced, she wants to do things she has never imagined before to this man.
Alfie is arrogant and uses his good looks and charm to try and persuade or shall I say seduce Lily into having a "friends with benefits" relationship. He wants no commitment whatsoever. He speaks freely of his wants and desires from Lily.
Lily being very inexperienced in the sex department isn't for sure if she wants to take Alfie up on his offer, but the way Lily is craving to have Alfie overtakes her thinking that it is not a good idea. This takes Lily on a roller coaster ride of emotions, she is confused. Could she possibly be in love with him?
While Lily is feeling confused about Alfie she has two other men enter her live, Max and Will. One she has know for a long time and feels she can trust him, but can she? The other she is comfortable with their friendship and they spend a lot of time together, but do they overstep their boundaries?
This book was truly a great read, I started and finished this book in one sitting. The issues that Lily faces seems so realistic, I can imagine many young girls going through similar experiences. I must say I am a little jealous, I mean three HOT guys and all musicians, hell yes! I had a hard time choosing who I wanted Lily with, my top two were Alfie and Will. Yes I did say Will, I mean what's not to love about their relationship except maybe one minor, ok major detail that I will not get into to. The sex scenes were sizzling hot, I was fanning myself off while reading. Highly recommend!!
I was provided a copy of the books in this trilogy in exchange for an honest review as part of Beautifully Broken Book Blog. I believe the copy we were given by the author was before the book had been edited, because I had a hard time getting through the first several chapters because of spelling and grammatical errors. I almost gave up reading the trilogy by chapter four because I was getting frustrated. Again I do believe that our review team was provided an unedited copy of the book by the author. With all that being said let me tell anyone who reads this review that I am SO glad I did not. This was an amazing trilogy. By about chapter 5 or so I was completely pulled into their world and stayed up until 3am the same night I started the book in order to finish it. It is written from Lily's POV, she is a privileged, naive girl that has decided to leave her family and friends in London and move to America to attend college and study music. Her very first day a dark, mysterious man offers Lily a proposition that she decides she can not turn down as she has decided it is time to grow up and live her life. Little does she know that once she accepts she will begin one hell of an emotional roller coaster. Lily and Alfie as well as the supporting characters were well developed and I absolutely could not wait to start the second book to see where their lives would lead to.
Holy Moly (British accent). That was an amazing read, truly. This book held my imagination from the start. Alfie is now my new Book boyfriend. He maybe a little infuriating but that kind of what makes him appeal to me. Lily is so confident in herself at the beginning, yes she may have her little worries but as the story goes on she gradually looses herself. And finds herself doing things she would never usually Do. And finds herself going back to her roots. Lily is the main character but Alfie I think is hiding something, he has a secret and I found myself turning each page wanting to know what it was, begging K.L.Shandwick, and screaming to her to tell me!!!! I cannot wait for book 2, K.l.Shandwick this maybe your 1st Romance/Erotica Trilogy but I KNOW this wont be your last. Cant wait to see what you have for us next.
WOW! I was gifted this book by a friend and I only wish I had of read it sooner! It is not at all what I was expecting and couldn't read fast enough! Lily jets off to Florida, leaving her UK life behind, to study her true passion of music. Her world is turned upside down when she is approached by a hot, rock musician by the name of Alfie on college campus. Alfie has a proposal for Lily which could work in both of their favours, which on first thought Lily dismisses as ludicrous, but realises maybe this could work. BIG MISTAKE! Lily falls hard for Alfie and although he say he can never have feelings for her he also can't stay away. I was on a roller coaster of emotions throughout this book, just when I thought I had it worked out K.L Shandwick threw another twist in the plot! It's hard to believe this is a debut novel due to the descriptive storyline and emotionality of it all. K.L Shandwick, I applaud you for the originality of this book, I have already started reading the next book in this series and I'm looking forward to where Lily and Alfie's story takes us next. 5*****

For anyone out there that is thinking of giving this book a read then make sure you do! It is a little slow to start with but once you have reached about chapter 7 you will be hooked. It is an easy read and although mostly around Lily and Alfie there are trickles of other characters in Lily's life that duck in and out to keep you intrigued with a great ending which will make you want to read the follow on book which is due to be out there end of Jan. This is in my opinion a very good first attempt book written by the author which displays a mix of emotions, feelings, sex, lust and insecurities.
I can't get over how much I like each of the characters in this book, especially Lily and Alfie. Lily is an English girl attending college in Florida with hopes of having her music career take off. She's surrounded by a lot of musical artists, including her roommate Saffy and friends like Will, Neil and Mandy. There's also Alfie, but he's not exactly a friend. Lily was such a fantastic character because she was adventurous and talented and although she wasn't insecure, she was completely unaware of how attractive she is and her musical talents. She also has this sweetness and innocence about her that is endearing rather than annoying. Her emotional vulnerability was partly due to her inexperience but also her authenticity. She craved love and affection but she wasn't unrealistic about it either. She's exploring her openness to sexuality, initially guided by Alfie into an arrangement that she finds addicting but can't keep up with because of the stipulation of no commitment, emotions or love. Alfie is actually a fascinating guy because he has so many sides to him - magnetic, playful, funny, seductive, poetic, sentimental and charming. Apparently he's a good actor, too, because the public Alfie is not the same as the private Alfie where Lily is concerned. Lily gets so many mixed messages from Alfie and she knows that putting distance between them is necessary to preserve her heart. Alfie can definitely be a jerk, but I couldn't help but fall for him, too, because he was somewhat mysterious and Lily disarmed him in certain ways that confused him. He said he couldn't love yet his gestures or subtle displays of jealousy suggested that he was capable of feeling more than he would admit to but Alfie keeps emotions buried pretty deep without coming off as brooding. Max and Will also help Lily to realize how much she wants to be cherished and in a true romantic relationship because now that she has tried the no strings attached approach, she knows it's not for her. Lily makes mistakes, but I never looked at them as being significant flaws because she already reprimands herself harshly enough and she takes responsibility for them. She also has a forgiving nature and gives people wide berth and multiple chances. I think it's funny that when she's particularly frustrated, she blames it on her not adapting well to the U.S. culture when in fact she is cooler than everyone else around her. There's a lot of push and pull between Alfie and Lily that reveals the complexity of their chemistry and dynamic, because Alfie is so frustrating about his limits. Lily puts him in his place but yet makes no apologies for enjoying what they did share. At the same time, I applaud Lily for protecting herself and hope to see Alfie come to his own realizations as the series progresses.
"I knew instantly, Alfie could cause me a lot of trouble"...
Yep, I've been hearing Alfie's name for quite a while...Charismatic, bad boy, Rock god ~ and because I'm late to the party, he's already been licked as well...*grumbles*
JUST.MY.LUCK...
"Enough Isn't everything" is KL Shandwick's first novel, and to be totally corny... In an ironic way, of course...
SHE.ROCKED.IT!
The characters, their relationships and interactions are so believable that you are sucked right into the story...and you feel every beat.
"I could hear blood swishing in my ears. It was kind of flowing in time to my rapid heartbeat."
And trust me, when it came to the interactions between Lily and Alfie, my heartbeat and temperature were raised! I felt like groaning ~
" Please. God. Alfie. Please. Don't. Stop."
He most definitely is a SEXPERT, that's all I'm saying... Damn!
"Fu...fuck. Wow."
Ahem... Sorry, got slightly distracted there...
I have to say here, that I liked Lily. Yes, she's naive, and yes, she does find herself in "one huge clusterfuck" but you know what... That's what makes her more real. She's living and making mistakes. But that's how we learn and grow. To be honest, if she acted as perfect as her looks, I would've probably given her a virtual slap. It's the mistakes, uncertainties and flaws that attach you to the characters...
'as my hand fell down, I accidentally knocked his erect cock. "Arghh."'
^^^^ sorry, lol! I couldn't resist sharing one of my favourite 'moments', that literally had me snorting with laughter. Moments that evoke emotions and draw you in... And I felt a myriad of emotions during the first part of Alfie and Lily's story.
IT.MAKES.YOU.WANT.TO.KNOW.MORE....
And I do want to know more... I can't wait to find out where the story takes them. 'Borrowing' the words of Alfie ~
"I can't believe I found you, I don't know that I'll ever get enough..."
I reviewed these book all together because well they deserve the full raiting then me getting frustrated with being left hanging a little. So This is for all three books in the trilogy Loved Alfie But Not a big fan of Lily!! These three stories were simply frustrating and amazing all in one. I wanted to scream because I felt like Lily kept giving up early and to fast. This stories was about row beautiful souls brought together when they least expected it and found a connection most people look for all their lives. Book 1 about hurt my heart because I felt like lily was giving up so quickly the. Book two it just continued to get worse.for me. Don't get me wrong this was a totally amazing story between two beautiful people that were made each other. Problem was book 1 and 2 didn't allow any happiness like that was a lot of pain and heart ache and both struggling to find their true hearts. They both made you cry for Alfie and want to slap around lily a little because I really felt like she was just giving up to easy. Alfie had his own set of issues but he was truly in love with lily at least to me that's how it was showing. He tried to be be what she needed, but what person is perfect. These book offered you a lot of drama, tears, heartache, regret, and the. Some smoking hot sexy scenes. It was amazing how k.l. Shandwick made this couples chemistry come off the pages made you get the child just from words. The question is does Lily and Alfie finally end up together ?? Od do they end up with different paths in their lives? I am writing this review together because I did truly love this series. It made me cry and frustrated then I was super happy by then end. So give it the chance it deserves I am giving the three books the same rating which gives 2 of them 1 star higher!! Book 1 and 2 would of been a 4 for me But With reading the final book it would of been a 5
Life isn't perfect. We all make mistakes. Somewhere along our journey we make a wrong turn and eventually get lost. The beauty of this is that you learn, you grow and eventually evolve.
I'm going to focus this review on my reaction to Enough Isn't Everything. I am not a professional reviewer so forgive my lack of formality on it.
I was in college once upon a time. There were moments where I felt like everything was perfect and then suddenly it wasn't. That's exactly what happened to Lily in this book. Her life was seemingly perfect. She had a strong head on her shoulders. It seemed the world was her oyster for the taking... And it always takes one. One person to make your head spin, to unleash the wild child that is locked away inside of us all.
I soared and I fell alongside Lily. My heart broke for her. Many of her decisions were eschewed by a void she, herself could not understand. Her relationship with Alfie was too toxic but so full of love. I want to understand Alfie, I want to know the reasons why he can't give in to Lily. I want to understand why Lily gave herself away in the process.
All these questions are good. The author did one hell of a job strapping me in on a wild ride. I couldn't put this book down. I devoured each page wondering where K.L. Shandwick was taking me. Each twist and turn in the plot had me holding my breath, clutching my pillow and making me hope there is a silver lining to Lily's journey.
Not many authors can do that to me so thank you! I loved this story! I loved each detail. I am so happy to have read this book.
Excuse me while I start on book 2. I. Can't. Wait!
I received a free copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
Enough isn't Everything, Book 1
This is a smokin' hot start to a wonderfully emotional and funny story.
Lily moves from the UK to Florida to attend university. On the day before school begins she is touring the campus, making sure she knows where she's supposed to be when she hears Alfie. Yes, she hears his beautiful music before seeing that handsome face. They sit and talk, she helps him with his lyrics and gets her first, of many, kisses from Alfie.
This is a story about a girl coming into her own sexually. She'd only been with one other boy before being propositioned by Alfie. He wants to be just fuck buddies...Can Lily handle that? Can she handle relationships with Alfie, Max~a friend and crush of many years, Will~her music making partner? There's not a lot I can say without SPOILERS, but did I mention that this first book is pretty smokin'? The excerpt that was provided is the one I was going to use, so I'll just let you read that. But by the time the end of Enough rolls around, I'm pretty sure you'll want to have Everything She Needs already on your ereader.
Wow! I absolutely loved this story! I couldn't believe it when I found out that this was the debut novel by the author. I loved the character of Lily - shy, young but looking to live life to the full. I have to say that I was of mixed feelings about the male lead character Alfie. At times I wanted to feel the same as Lily and for Alfie to be real and to make me feel like Lily , sexy, desired and recklessly wanted. Then at other times I wanted to kick his arse for being a jerk.
This was a refreshing read in that it wasn't like many other books that have you rooting for the couple to get together and have a HEA. This book acually made me feel at times I didnt want Lily to settle for Alfie I wanted her to get the love she deserved. I also love the fact this is a British girl with her own customs and ways interacting with American ways the dual nationalities brought so much more to the story and offered a few laughs along the way. Go click this book you wont be disappointed ....I certainly wasn't and Ive just clicked for book 2 ....I cant wait to see where the story develops :)
Enough isn't Everything..I honestly didn't know what to expect. I picked it up without even reading about it and being completely new to the author. I have to say I was impressed.
Lily moves from London to Miami to attend school with two of her friends. She is inexperienced in a lot of things and uses this time to discover herself. In that self discovery phase she meets sexy musician Alfie..and sexy could just be an understatement.
Alfie is well..unapologetic for who he is. He isn't looking for anything more than a physical connection and presents Lily with an offer that she can't refuse..or can she? There is a little something more to Alfie though and I keep trying to solve the mystery behind that man.
This book is well written and off the charts hot. I read them all before writing my review unfortunately I am behind like that but while reading it I was definitely anxious to see what came next in their story.
In this the 1st book of The Everything Trilogy, it is written from Lily's POV. Lily is a beautiful young women coming from London to Florida to attend college and study music, and that's were she meets the very sexy Alfie Black, who also shares the love of music. This is the beginning of their love story. Theirs was not your typical romance from the start, it was of sexual attraction and the love of music. Their story has it's share of steamy sex, happiness and heartbreak. It had me laughing, crying and most definitely had me blushing at times. This is a must read!! K.L. Shandwick is a amazing author
So happy to have read this book by K.L. Shandwick! FIVE SUPER SMOKIN' STARS!
This book was a pleasure to read, mostly because the characters were so likable! Sexy rock god meets innocent college student, you will be caught up in this charming and humorous story instantly! Added bonus: Lots of steamy scenes... and lots of emotion... and humor... and lots of passion... did I mention the chemistry when they are together is undeniable?!!
This book takes you on an roller coaster ride ... a series of not so great choices by Lily, a proposal/proposition from Alfie... pain and heartache surface... WOW!
A wonderfully written, smokin' hot story that just begins to scratch the surface, and I cannot wait to see where KL Shandwick takes us next in this rockin' trilogy!
KL Shanwick Enough Isn't Everything Thank God I started reading this trilogy, I'm now hooked on Alfie & Lily's story , there is some wonderful & exciting characters in this book, I can't wait to find out what happens to all of them, Lily has some great friends which I'm enjoying reading about, When Lily first met Alfie I just new this story was going to be an exciting read, KL Shanwick has a beautiful talent of writing stories to keep you wanting to turn the page, lots of humour, sexy love scenes, honestly I need to read quicker. Alfie is one hot male character, he sounds like a dream and lily is a super sexy chick both with musical talent, this makes the story different from other books I've read which is great. I know Alfie has got to be hiding so many secrets from Lily it's making the read very interesting. Well done KL Shanwick you have an amazing book that readers will love.
KL Shandwick has created quite the interesting couple in Lilly and Alfie, two talented music students who find a strong attraction for one another. Lilly is just trying to find her way in a new place when she meets Alfie. He is that typical gorgeous rock star type that women find irresistible—all arrogance and sex appeal. The only problem is that he is not exactly emotionally available. I won’t give away too many details. I’ll just say I found myself caught up in their story. At times I wanted to strangle both of them, but the chemistry when they are together is undeniable. Together, they make one hot couple. And speaking of hot … if you like steamy sex scenes, this book is for you.
I loved it, but I do have one warning: if you read this book, you will want to read the entire series. I can’t wait now to read the next one and find out what happens between Lilly and Alfie.
This is a brilliant start to the series by Author KL Shandwick, she's given us the complete package for a romance read, but apart from being a great story I liked the fresh feel for a rockstar book, it didn't fall into the same cliches that some other books have, it had charm and plenty of humour plus lots of steamy scenes, the musical references were brilliant and the characters are well matched. One very commendable aspect is the ease with what KL portrays each character, there are so many personalities and each one is very well written. Since then I have started with the second book and I can tell you this gets better and better.
Well, KL, you’ve outdone yourself! Congratulations on a superb debut novel! I started reading the first installment of The Everything Trilogy and before I new it, I was done all three books!
The fluidity in the storyline and the overall character development was incredibly well done, and I easily fell in love with Lily and Alfie.
Not your everyday romance, folks. If you’re looking for a captivating love story, this is definitely a must read! Steamy & sexy, to say the least!
