This was an enjoyable book and I’ll definitely read the other books about the small town Curiosity. Charlotte is a reporter thats left Chicago after having an affair with her boss who after the break up became very nasty and so she left and scored a job in Curiosity where she is sent to investigate the Mayor. mason is the Mayor of Curiosity and is respected by the towns people and does everything he can to make it a safe place for the humans and other shifters and himself because he knows what its like to be treated badly but now having a reporter thats new in town investigate him has him on edge but because he is up to no good but because he is very attracted to Charlotte and he is having trouble keeping his control around her. Charlotte is having trouble keeping her mind on the job because the Mayor is so distracting but she isn’t going to get involved with another man after the last time but the closer they get the lines start the blur and soon they are steaming up the sheets but can they have a future together or not.

'I don’t care how many people tell me Mason is a good guy, I know there’s something hiding under that facade and I won’t stop until it’s brought into the light.'
This was a fun read. I love nagas and (physically) snake-like characters, so for the male lead to be a gorgan was an immediate draw- and my first story with that species. The title was also very eye catching *smirk*
The town of Curiosity was absolutely charming and I want to read more books in this series just to see more of it. Good world building. I loved Mason's personality and how he interacts with others. As for journalist Charlotte, I had to warm up to her honestly. Because she dated her last boss and he ruined her reputation after they broke up, she took a job at a paper in the small town of Curiosity and was determined to write a good [scandalous] story to prove herself and was convinced Mayor Mason had been up to no good and would do all she could to get evidence to prove it. I just didn't like her angle. But the storyline was interesting an I enjoyed them growing closer. 4 stars
4.5 stars because the FMC was determined to keep being an idiot
This would have been a better story if the author had allowed the FMC (Charlotte) to stop being a complete idiot sooner. In her former Chicago newspaper job, she'd slept with her boss and had it blow up in her face when it ended. She came to Curiosity desperate to restore her reputation and to get the big story that would do so.
She targets the Mayor (who is a wonderful person and completely honest) and decides she's going to prove nobody in a position of power could be good. She reaches the point she's falsifying evidence, and nearly loses her "last chance" job when her new editor refuses to take the bait.
I felt her refusal to see the truth (both about the Mayor and her own motivation) was drug out too long for the sake of book length. I felt a different conflict should have arisen to extend the story--because the same false accusations got very old.
I gave a five star rating because although I disagreed with the plot line, the story was written well.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Charlotte and Mason. When Charlotte leaves Chicago, she ends up in the odd little town of Curiosity and has no idea how much her life is going to change. The story keeps us turning the pages with humor, monsters and humans.
