«Dice che sono l’ostaggio più stupido che abbia mai avuto. Ma sono anche il più sexy.»

Hammer. Esecutore del Demon Brethren MC. Sociopatico. Macellaio. Arma mazza ferrata.

Dex. Senza vergogna. Perennemente arrapato. Nessun controllo degli impulsi. Arma battute stupide.

Dal momento in cui Dex ha visto Hammer spaccare la testa di un uomo, come se fosse un’anguria, ne è rimasto ossessionato. No, davvero, ossessionato.

Ew, I really don’t like this. I’m not sure where to begin, but it’s just so bad? And it’s so problematic.

First of all, the romance is absolutely awful. Hammer treats Dex like utter trash, and he’s not at all apologetic about it. Meanwhile, Dex has absolute rock for brains and no self-respect whatsoever. I’m just embarrassed for him, honestly. I can’t imagine I would ever grow to like this couple. I already hate both of the characters and they have ZERO chemistry. And the insta-love/insta-obsession coming from Dex’s side is also not working for me at all.

And then let’s talk about one of the things that is problematic about this book: At the beginning of this book Hammer walks in on this one guy watching CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, and although he’s outraged by it, he decided to do nothing. He decides to let it slide merely because doing something would inconvenience him and he figured he should give the guy another chance. Like, fucking excuse me?? It’s CHILD PORNOGRAPHY! How can you just let that slide? How am I supposed to root for a main character who does that?

Another terribly problematic and sickening aspect about this book was the way these men had an utter disregard for consent. One of MANY examples would be when Dex and Hammer literally berate a woman for setting limits and saying she doesn’t want to be chocked in bed without being asked first, or being forced into anal without being asked first. Like, that’s NORMAL. Nobody should be okay with that without talking about it first. But they both treat her like she should be ashamed to not be glad for getting to SERVICE this dude’s dick?? Like, fucking excuse me? I wish I was joking. But I’m not.
I’ll put a quote here of what Dex said to this girl after she set her limits against Hammer. Mind you, this was after Hammer violated her by doing things she didn’t consent to, and it was after us readers having to listen to Hammer’s inner-monologue about how her saying “no, stay away” actually meant “oh yes, please come to my home and fuck me”. Delusional? Yes. Creepy? Most definitely. But anyway, this is what Dex said to her after she complained about the terror that is Hammer:

“If a guy this hot wants ass, why the fuck wouldn’t you give it to him? What’s wrong with you? I almost died today trying to get into his pants, and you’re whining over a bit of choking? I would have let him rail me however he wanted, said thank you, and swallowed. Why are you so fucking entitled?”

Like, I’m sorry Dex but not everyone is such a pathetic idiot as you and some people have self-respect. Get off your high horse, and quite frankly, just shut the hell up.

Urgh, these men just irked me! They were awful, and I’m not sure if I’m even explaining it well, but if I would have to explain my definition of the “ick” by pointing at a person, I’d point at these two. Just yuck.

I eventually reached a point in the story where they got to a BDSM club and Hammer, of course, just keeps on treating Dex like the dirt beneath his shoe, and Dex is kind of involuntarily forced into a submissive role, and I don’t even know anymore, but I don’t care either. It was bad. I didn’t like it. Just ew. I quit!

Trigger warnings: Orgies and sharing on top of violence, murder, gore, and other shady stuff. I just wanted to mention that first, and we will come back to it later.

It’s not secret that I like my books with a side of dark stuff and that I love the really obsessive and possessive characters that come from books in this genre. And I happen to think that K.A. Merikan are some of the best at putting these things on page, so I was so excited to read this book. I read the blurb of this book and I was so excited to read it, it just seemed like this book would be the most perfect book for me to ever exists, but sadly it just wasn’t, we will come back to that later too.

Brief summary
Dex is obsessing about this really hot guy named Hammer. Dex keeps hitting on him but Hammer is straight and not very interested. Hammer ends up kidnapping Dex. And they end up falling in love with each other.

This was a super enjoyable story. It hit all of my favorite things, with the bi-sexual awakening and the kidnapping and the push and pull until they got together. I just adored all of those things so much. I just thought that they made the book so much fun to read and I had a lovely time reading this book because of those things. This book wasn’t very dark in terms of content (I like pitch-black books so don’t trust me on this one) but it was just the right level that I find very interesting to read and that really pulled me into the story and just made me want to keep reading.

The characters in this book were just absolutely fantastic. I adored both of these guys so much. I’m absolutely in love with Dex. Dex is pretty much a himbo that really loves a good dick, and I adored reading about his obsession with getting Hammer to fuck him in any way possible. I just thought that he was such a fun character to read about, and I was absolutely obsessed with his character arc. I just loved his persona and I thought that it made the book super fun to read. And I adored Hammer so much. Hammer is a sociopath who prefers murder to most people, and I thought that that was super lovely to read about. I also love reading about a good sociopath and Hammer was just the right kind of obsessed and murderous for me.

Also, I really adored how the bi-sexual discovery was done in this book. This book had a lot of talk of Hammer thinking about how he wants to live out his sexuality and how to challenge his masculinity with how he likes to have sex. A lot of the scenes in this book were him realizing that his masculinity is not tied to the fact that he likes sucking dick or not and I thought that that was a really refreshing topic to read about and I really enjoyed all of these talks.

Also, Hammer and Dex are super obsessed with each other and possessive of each other and I loved all of these talks so much. I always love obsession in my books, and I thought that the one in this book was super lovely. They were both so obsessed with each other and I loved reading all about it.

Dex and Hammer were super good together too. I loved all of their interactions so much. I thought that they were the perfect foil for each other and they had super good banter, so I really enjoyed reading about their time together because I thought that it was all super fun and enjoyable.

I think I mentioned it before but I don’t really enjoy longer books because I don’t have a good attention spawn, but I absolutely adored K.A. Merikan’s writing, and I feel like their books always go by super quickly and that they are very easy to read. I was very invested in the story in this book, and I just wanted to keep reading it. I found this book so much fun to read.

Now for my sections titled But ….. When I read this book, on the day it was released, there were no trigger warnings about this, so I went into the book not knowing that it would ever happen. Trigger warnings have now been added for this, but I wrote this part of the review when they weren’t there. So, I wanted to say thank you very much to the authors for adding these trigger warnings to the blurb, but since I read this book before I saw the warnings and did not know about it at the time I read the book, this section of my review is about that.

And I know that there are some trigger warnings about this now, but they are very non-descriptive and just mention that there are scenes of events happening at adult parties, which could mean many things and not only a full-blown orgy, so I just wanted to mention this still, as I feel like an orgy is different than many other scenarios that could happen at adults parties. While I am very grateful for the trigger warning we did get, I just feel like they could be a little more descriptive, as when I think of adult parties, I think of many other things, like exhibitionism, voyeurism, chains, ropes, public sex, but I don’t really imagine orgies as the first event, but that could just be me. I’m still glad there is a warning about this now and I want to thank the authors for adding them, I am very grateful for this.

This was a good book and I clearly really enjoyed reading it. But I just want to mention something, this book has the characters engage in an orgy at 40% into the book (a full-blown orgy, in a lot of details as it’s all happening on page too) ….. There were no trigger warnings about that, at all. I have said before that I don’t really like reading about sharing and orgies and prefer monogamy in my books, so that’s on me for not enjoying that scene. But I had no clue that that scene would even be in the book since there was no mention of it anywhere in the book’s warnings. But this book had no trigger warnings about this at all, which I found that I really would have preferred it to be because it really startled me to start reading about an orgy when I didn’t expect it to be there in the first place. So yeah, I can understand why the orgy happened and everything sure, but I would have liked to have a triggered warning to warn me that it was there. Because it’s as if I was walking around my town and then I really stumbled upon an orgy in an alley and was forced to watch it when I had no intention of even being there. I just wanted to know what was happening in the book before I started reading the book, so I could prepare myself to read about it.

Also, some people (including me) just do not like to or physically/mentally cannot read about orgies in their books and it can be triggering to read about, so a trigger warning on this kind of content would be really appreciated.

I found that some things in this book just weren’t really explained, and I would have liked more clarity on them because I was quite confused while I was reading, and I kept asking myself questions.

First, I just want to mention that this book never makes it clear if the characters are monogamous or not after this scene, which is fine, but I would like to know instead of wondering because I could never ping their couple because of it. This part of the book just felt a little undeveloped for me. One second, they were super possessive of each other and saying that they only want each other and to only be together (and even beating up guys who tried to get with the other) and the other second, they were saying how hot the orgy was and how they would do it again. I understand that monogamy isn’t needed and that it’s up to the characters to decide what they want to do, but I wish that they decided it on page because it wasn’t ever very clear to me, and I felt like I couldn’t ping their couple and what they like because of it. Which made me feel like I never really got to know these guys as a couple. And I just felt like there was a disconnect because of how possessive of each other they were, and the way that they talked about being into orgies, and I wish that their preference was clearer because I just wasn’t sure what they wanted in the end.

But also, the ending of this book just was so unclear to me. I felt like a couple of scenes were missing because I had absolutely no clue what was happening. I was reading and just kept wondering how things happened and how we got there, and it was never explained to me in enough detail for me to understand it. Maybe I’m a little slow on the uptake on this one, but I just felt like I needed more details and like the book ended really abruptly and not in a natural place. I really would have liked a couple more scenes toward the end of this book.

Overall, this was a very fun book with a lovely premise and I’m very much excited to read the next book in this series. I love the premise of this series and I keep my fingers crossed that I absolutely adore the next book in the series because this was so close to me.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Get ready for a gorey, sexy good time ;D

There's been all this talk about tiger dick in this book... Do you remember the 'tiger' dildo? 😉 Well, the book is so long already, so we cut the scene from it, but if you'd like to read this scene, you can find it here! 🙂

Frank grumbled. “You know who this guy is and you want him around?”
Shane sighed. “We all have a part to play in the disposal business.”
“Only that he creates the trash!”
Dex rolled his eyes. “It just means he’s good at his job.”

He is a butcher. It's just that he's not dangerous to me.

This is my favorite book of the series!!! I love Dex and Hammer. Dex is such a himbo, but he has such a positive outlook on everything, you just have to love him. Is he the sharpest tool in the shed? No, but who cares. You know who else doesn't care? Hammer. Hammer likes dumb. He finds it cute.

[T]he way Dex did things without thinking was one of his most attractive traits.

To say Dex has a very high sex drive might be an understatement. He just flat out loves cock.

I want to suck your dick already! Why do you deny me? It's not normal!

Unlike Dex, Hammer likes to analyze everything down to the minutiae to make sure he's making the best decision. He has never really been into guys before, but something about Dex really intrigues him. The more time they spend together, the more curious Hammer gets. They discover that they have things in common.

It was a pleasure to be around someone so animated and unguarded, someone whom Hammer didn't need to carefully dissect in order to discover his thoughts.

The scene at Cora's house with the men breaking in was amazing. I loved all the action here and I was living for Dex jumping in, taking men down and being badass. All while naked and handcuffed to the couch I might add. The sex in this book is incredibly HOT. So so dirty and very steamy.

He, the man whom so many feared, was now being ridden by a twenty-two year old with the libido of a bunny in spring, and he fucking loved it.

Relationship wise, these two work really well together. They both have a darkness to them that no one else really understands and they find companionship there. They don't have to hold back with each other.

"You make me feel so alive," Dex murmured against Hammer's neck, as he stroked Hammer's hip, then thigh, before trailing his fingers back up. "Like everyone else was a shadow, and you're the real thing."

My own club brothers decided I was bad news after one accusation, but you see me like no one else does. You're this sunshine that melts every bit of ice. Even me.

As with the first two books, the found family vibe is really strong here and it is great. I really loved seeing Frank and Dex come to understand one another more.

There are just so many things I could discuss about this book. I loved it. It ticked off a lot of boxes for me. There's great action, lots of morally questionable antics, hot sex, lots of dirty talk and bad ass MCs. Not to mention, Dex says the funniest shit.

I’m just not sure if I chose the right underwear to go with the leather harness, you know? It’s like… BDSM on top, horny twink on the bottom.

This was another intense addition to the series!

We have Hammer, who is a violent sociopath and works as the executioner for his biker gang and Dex, the nephew of Frank, who is chaotic and sex obsessed. Things go wrong for Hammer when his gang finds his journal of depraved fantasies, and Dex, because of his horniness and stupidity, ends up getting dragged into the mess.

These two made an unlikely pair but worked somehow? Hammer has disturbing sexual desires and fantasies, and Dex, who not only loves sex but loves risky rough high inducing sex, seems to be the perfect partner to match them.

As I found with this series, unexpected humour is sprinkled in a pretty depraved and violent story. I laughed at the fact that Hammer took a test to see how gay he was. How easily manipulated Dex was by Hammer when tasked to guard him was also hilarious.

In the previous books, Dex comes across as very confident and self-assured, but we get a peek into his past and the insecurities he carries. Honestly, it is hard not to like Dex.

Overall this was another great addition to the series! I am now excited for Frank’s story, and while I wait, I shall dive into K.A. Merikan’s other works!

Wow... They did it again!! 😍

THIS is why I read K. A. Merikan. Somehow they manage to absolutely NAIL the bizarre yet delightful combination of Truly Dark and Gory meets Romance meets Genuine Character Development [Warning: mature readers only. Literally.]

These are My 3 favorite K.A. Merikan titles, and D!ckhead ran with the big dogs!!
~ Straight as a Wheel: Smoke Valley MC
~ Wrong Way Home - Criminal Delights: Taken
~ His Favorite Color Is Blood: Coffin Nails MC

Here's a comment I recently left on a friend's review: "...I remember giving this one 4 stars (vs 3) because it had me skeptical for a minute, even as a K.A. Merikan lover, and yet somehow they managed to get me so fully on board with these two that I was able to get to that point of "well, I wouldn't do that, but it clearly works for them" - which is a mark of impressive story telling in my book! IMO It's easy to be enthusiastic when a book hits all your 'favorite' buttons... but even more of a feat for authors to get me to rate highly when something isn't really in my wheelhouse and yet they've managed to make it possible for me to truly "get it" from the perspective of the characters. Also this one had me absolutely LOL-ing over some of the bonkers stuff Dex said and did... and the way Hammer just totally fell for Dex despite himself was just glorious!..."

Note: These days I'm finding I care a lot more about how a book makes me feel vs a need to tear it apart and analyze it from every angle. So when considering my opinion keep that in mind.

Look, I'm going to be up front with y'all - I'm voting this book 5 stars because the sex scenes were some of the hottest I've ever read. When I'm not being a bitter bitch, I'm being a horny hoe. Very little in between. 🤏🏾

Like I mentioned in my update, I was a bit torn - I was going to give this book my "Really Stupid MC" tag, but I usually mean that in a negative way. Dex and all his attributes are almost...loveable? Turns out I was right in suspecting that Dex either had ADHD or was somewhere else on the 'Tism SpectrumTM. My dude had ADHD leaking out of his eyeballs. Sure, it's caricaturized, dramatized, definitely not a true to life representation, but it's one nonetheless. I definitely don't want to use the s-word with that in mind. Christine suggested Dummy(affectionate) and I stole it, so now it's mine. I'm tweaking it to "Loveable Dumbass" because, duh, ME.

OK, back to the sex - HOLY SHIT. Mirror sex. having a play-by-play of a top's thoughts as HE'S topped for the very first time. Masterpiece. 🤌🏾 No lie, I was stunned after reading it and had to take a couple minutes to myself. 🥵

Now, all that said, I can totally see some not buying Hammer's and Dex's connection. It is HEAVILY based on physical compatibility. Hammer actually appreciates that a lot of the time, Dex is very "no thoughts, just fun vibes" on any given day. An exploration into Hammer's past explains why that is. I choose to appreciate their "You Get Me" connection, and I'm gonna call it love. Fight me.

Best book in the series so far, but I'll rate it with 4⭐ alone, because the second half of the book didn't quite deliver the promised possessive psycho love story.

🟡 Biker gang/executioner
🟠 Horror, blood, killing
🔵 Age gap - small
🟢 Bi - awakening
🟣 Size difference
🌶️ Good spice, but a lot off-page; group sex/orgy/sharing; vers

First of all, no, the story is great. If you think over 400 pages are too much - they're not. The writing is really good, the storyline develops beautifully and is especially generous to the MMCs, because we get taken on quite a ride and we're there with them right until they really establish what they mean to each other.

Dex you can remember from previous books, he's a young, hot-headed himbo who loves sex, we find out at the very end of this book that he has ADHD, so I'm a little disappointed in his uncle Frank treating him like he's a bimbo who can't think for himself, instead of getting him on meds .
Dex is a smart, outgoing, emotional guy who falls in love for the first time in his life. I don't think anyone but Hammer really got him, he seemed to have so many layers that weren't really presented in previous books, one might think he's just a slut who can't think for himself, but in his book we find out he's so much more than that.

Hammer you can also remember I think it was in the 1st installment when he came to the junkyard to kill someone and that's when Dex developed that killer crush on the guy. It turns out, Hammer isn't just a force to be reckoned with, he's an executioner, yes, but he's also a very refined person , he's from a wealthy family and is pretty damn smart, so there's absolutely more to Hammer.

Dex and Hammer cross their paths again when Hammer gets taken to the junkyard to be executed for a minor misunderstanding and in comes Dex, the guy crushing on Hammer, who eventually lets him go and becomes his very willing hostage. He's constantly hitting on Hammer and offers himself on a silver platter, so when they finally get to it, their first time having sex is fire, it's hot, rough and I wanted that to continue and evolve.

I really liked how Hammer's bi - awakening was done, Hammer took the time to internalize everything and think it through, he was serious about connecting his life to someone and wanted to do it on a deeper level, not having just a hook - up with Dex, so in that respect, Hammer was a pretty serious guy, a guy with many talents, a thinker and overall your amazing hot psycho boyfriend character.

The MMCs were absolutely great - and great with each other, the sex was amazing and here's also my first problem with this story. With the way Hammer couldn't ever let go when having sex with women and his dominance always being a problem, one would expect when he hooked up with Dex, we were going to get a plethora of crazy sex moments, but we didn't. It was almost too tame, not mentioning a lot of it was off-page. Especially that week after their first orgy, where they weren't together yet - that week when they got close, slept together, had apparently amazing sex, well we didn't experience any of it. It was told bit by bit throughout the second half of the book, so that was quite disappointing.

Dex and Hammer weren't even together when that orgy happened at 40% of the book, they hooked up once and as far as Hammer was concerned, that was one and done, so I see no problem there, but it got confusing down the line, because it was clear they had an intense connection and wanted only each other, I felt like that sharing part was there to maybe make the story more interesting, when it did the opposite , it confused me, really, because the story paints characters as very possessive, their dialogues and everything that was going on pointed at one specific direction and that was clearly monogamy.

Precisely sharing made the story less interesting, so for me personally if that were left out, this would've been a 5* book for me for sure, because the intensity between Dex and Hammer was really palpable , I loved it, they were such good characters and their dynamic was presented flawlessly, but Hammer sharing Dex didn't seem like something Hammer's character would ever do, so in the end that intensity becomes questionable .

I was really, honestly disappointed with that aspect of their relationship. So many reviewers had a problem with sharing, especially because it wasn't pointed out that it was going to happen in this book and I totally understand that, I do, but for me sharing isn't a problem, an open relationship isn't a problem, orgies are pretty common, so are sex clubs, so that wasn't the issue at all. It seemed like Hammer settled, because he was on unfamiliar ground. That was my problem.

This was his first time with a guy and he really thought about it, he was serious about Dex, so when they were talking about sex, I felt like Hammer wanted someone to call his own, he's possessive and jealous, doesn't like to share, so it really baffled me how he agreed to do it . It felt like that was in the beginner stage, when he didn't really know what was going to come out of his fling with Dex, so based on Dex's libido, he agreed to share him at those sex parties they were going to attend in the future.

Again, nothing wrong with sex parties, but such dynamic between them just wasn't believable. Dex finally found someone where he felt he didn't have to hold back and didn't want another man at all. So why was that even an option then?
Hammer had a very strong libido himself, he never felt at ease with his female partners, never truly relaxed with his sexual desires, yet with Dex he could let go, so I'm sorry, it just wasn't believable that Dex would want others besides him, when he clearly stated many times over that he doesn't need or want anyone else.

They were talking about others, but in reality they were waiting on each other, even though they weren't officially together, so ... huh? Made no sense at all. Maybe the authors threw that option in, because it wasn't believable that in reality Dex would want to stay monogamous, he's 22 and likes to fuck, sure, but so does Hammer and the way both MMCs were presented, I feel like that sharing part was out of place, completely.
Maybe don't paint the MMCs as jealous or possessive, but both open and willing to get with others from the get-go, so it doesn't leave the reader confused. Just an idea.

Overall, I loved this couple's dynamic, the plot was well developed and interesting, so I was honestly impressed, I didn't think I'd like this book that much.

I'm going to read Frank's book next, and even though I personally don't really like Frank, I hope he gets a good story.

Well this was a surprise and in the best of ways. Until now the only series I’ve liked by these authors was Jack Addison and that’s a 9 episode serial that is nothing like their usual style. For me to love this book makes me laugh because Scum was my first book by these authors and I hated it and swore off this series but I was always intrigued by Dex. He’s just one of those side characters I had to know more about and he didn’t disappoint me. He was so fucking dumb and yet I absolutely adored him. I just wanted to swaddle him in bubble wrap so that he would be safe from himself and others. Dex and Hammer just made sense together and I liked how they both understood and accepted each other’s crazy. This was so OTT and I just ate it up but I did have some issues with it too.

Hammer is being a kept in a makeshift prison cell on Frank’s property while his MC works out what to do with him due to a misunderstanding of sorts and Dex is there to guard him for a bit. Dex is a dumb horny himbo who has been in love with Hammer ever since he saw him take a sledgehammer to someone’s head earlier in the year and Hammer is able to trick him into letting him out. It was so dumb and just made me laugh at the absolute stupidity that is Dex. Hammer takes Dex hostage while he tries to find the evidence to prove his innocence. However, Dex is not a typical hostage because he’s captivated by Hammer and he’s just excited to be spending time with him.

”This guy was so fucking dumb. And yet… Hammer liked dumb. Dumb was kind of cute. You knew where you stood with dumb. Dumb and horny? Now that was a powder keg Hammer could see himself lighting.”

These two go on this adventure that gave me major ‘Tiger King’ vibes especially with the big cats and crazy people everywhere. I didn’t watch all of TK because watching all the tigers being mistreated absolutely disgusted me but the people associated with all of that could have fit seamlessly into this book. While they are on the run they stay with one of Hammer’s old friends, Cora. Even though I’m sure Cora was probably hot, all I could picture was Carole Baskin in her wild cat prints and the imagery just cracked me up. Like Carole, Cora had a lot of big cats on her property that just added to the OTTness of this book. Cora also has a BDSM lifestyle and had wild sex parties that Dex and Hammer attended. While my preference is for my couples to be monogamous, I had no problem with the sharing that happens in this book during the parties. This is just one of those books that is so OTT that I couldn’t fault Dex for wanting to be used as a cum dumpster. He lives for sex so it just made sense he’d be into this kind of stuff and since the sharing was only done at the parties and there were clear rules in place, I was ok with it.

The thing dragging my rating down is the length. This book was 450 pages but it felt like it had 1000. I was on board with it for the first 70% but then there was a lot of added stuff that I just felt was unnecessary. The stuff with Hammer’s family should have been omitted from this story although his real name did make me laugh as did Dex’s complete lack of filter during dinner. I didn’t like that the hit was completely drawn out and there was a late stage conflict attached to it. I just felt like this whole last minute drama was not needed and I hated the pain it caused Dex. It just caused the book to drag and it’s why it took me days to finish it. I wish I could give half star ratings because this is definitely a 3.5 star book but since I loved the majority of this book I am going to give it 4 stars. I just really enjoyed both characters and this book made me laugh a lot despite its sometimes heavy subject matter.

This was so much fun!
and it's already happening, I'm not able to use all my words properly, so bear with this blubbering mess of a review:

Dex had already some cameos in the previous books "Scum" and "Primal" so now it's his moment to shine like a diamond, because D!ckhead is his story and was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023 and it didn't disappoint :D

Dex is a hidden Gem! I'm not the only person who thinks so, Hammer most definitely feels the same:

It was as if he’d found an unpolished diamond in a bucket of coal and was now worried about the implications of this unexpected luck.

Dex is sunshine personified, and while he is in fact extraordinarily dumb he's also quite unafraid to dive in every challenge head first! Seriously, it all started with him wanting to give head...So every once in a while he has some amazing moments where he's able to shine, even if it's just a shiner. My heart simply melted away bc he's this adorable level of dumb that I could laugh, cry and cuddle him all the time. There might've been some second hand embarrassment moment too, but well...I love it!

The online test jumped to results, informing him that he was forty-six percent gay.
Hammer was next-level!
I loved to see how his bi-awakening turned out, it was so much fun to read those elements while this wasn't the main plot, I always dig it if the awakening is not just a "two liner" and then "just roll with it" ... I loved to follow Hammers thought process in this matter.
But also following all of Hammers thoughts was like a field day in a candy store!
I loved his morbid fantasy his fascination but also is struggles to connect with ppl in general.
He was a lone wolf amongst wolves.

I thought this dark thing inside of me was something meant for me to experience on my own, but now I can share it with you.

Their relationship is something unique:
I loved how Hammer and Dex were able to connect with each other, they're both hadn't had it easy in finding a person who really clicks with them. Until they accidentally found each other.
Their love is the gory-morbid kind of murderhusband cute and I couldn't get enough of them!

So no wonder that D!ckhead was a binger for me.

I want to point out, that K.A. Merikan are one of my favorite author duo.
They write this tarantino-ish kind of dark(humor) and mix it perfectly up with hot, hot fun and swoony romance.
It's 100% my jam!
The characters are always multilayered, and surprise and entertain me all the time with their quirks, habits or morally ambiguous and sometimes slightly questionable world views.
And I love that there's no "predictability" in neither characters nor plot lines.
For me personally it's a page turner, a binger, a fun time to read&relax with and I can say that they always spark an extensive amount of joy!
My crazy clicks with this kind of crazy

Note: I got an ARC-ebook in exchange for an honest review and this is my unbiased opinion.

"I don’t want anything enough to build my self-worth on it."

D!ckhead is the third instalment in K.A. Merikan's Wrong Side of the Tracks MC Club series. This is Dex and Hammer's story.

Hammer is the Demon Brethren MC's enforcer; he's considered a sociopath and a butcher and is as straight as they come.

Dex is out and proud. He ends up guarding Hammer for the Brethren, but fails miserably as a captor. And it turns out that Hammer has been wrongly imprisoned and needs some help to prove his innocence to his Brethren brothers. Not to mention he's not as straight as he thought....

I had some issues with the relationship that have already been pointed out by other readers, and because of that D!ckhead wouldn't have been my book of choice.

The darker themes were great and I've tried not to 'down-grade' because of my personal book taste when it comes to no-sharing in relationships.

Tropes:

🖤MM dark romance
🖤Opposites attract
🖤Bi-awakening
🖤Light BDSM
🖤Adult parties/sharing
🖤First times
🖤Violent behaviour

Genre: MM Romance
Type: Book 3 of Wrong Side of the Tracks series
POV: Third Person - Dual
Rating:

Being the Executioner of Demon Brethren MC, Hammer was feared by friends and foes. Except for Dex, who could only think of getting into Hammer’s pants. Dex couldn’t believe his luck when their path crossed, but Hammer.

This one was a fun one. I inked the overall storyline, but it was long. I loved both Dex and Hammer, and their personalities fit each other. Though I have to say, Dex stressed me out, and I wanted to smack his head once in a while lol! The sexy scenes were hot, and I liked how they were open to exploring what was unfamiliar to them.

D!ckhead is a story of exploring possibilities. It would appeal to readers who enjoy bloody MM romance.

This is a perfectly messed up love story with the authors signature darkness that leads to lots of blood, gore and sex with humor mixed in. I don’t think it’s too gory but it may be for sone readers.

Dex is such a lovable character who acts impulsively and from the previous books has a very high libido, having sex whenever he can. He is overjoyed to finally be face to face with the executioner of the local MC who he is in awe of.

Hammer is an intimidating man who, besides being among his brothers in the MC, is quite the outsider amongst them. No one understands him and because of his duties in the club the other members stay detached from him. He is a very intelligent man and he writes and publishes stories on his own website. These stories are gruesome in nature and based on true events. When his club discovers the notebook he jots his ideas down in they think he’s plotting his club presidents death so they have him held captive at the junkyard.

I really enjoyed this so much! The sexual tension builds and builds while Hammer goes back and forth on whether he should act on it. Dex’s analogies and innocence (even though he far from an innocent) endear him to Hammer. They both get off on violence and find a kindred spirit in the other because of this.

The sex is very hot but I will warn you….SPOILER….there is sharing. This is not something I usually enjoy at all but it fit here. It was done with an unattached attitude by Hammer and it did seem like something that came naturally for these men. It’s not a huge part of the story but it’s not mentioned in the trigger warnings. I think it’s important to know for many readers.

This series has really been so fun! My most awaited characters book is next…Frank! We get glimpses of his backstory here while we learn more about Dex and I can’t be more excited!

When Hammer discovers a disturbing fact about one of the Demon Brethren MC members, suddenly he finds himself as the target. Wanting to prove the truth, Hammer won’t be confined and finds a willing hostage in Dex. Though Dex is in awe of the legend, Hammer doesn’t realize how much of an impression Dex will actually make on him.

“Dumb and horny? Now that was a powder keg Hammer could see himself lighting.”

Narrated in dual POV, it becomes obvious from the outset that Hammer and Dex are complete opposites, but as the story develops, they begin to balance each other. With Hammer’s serious introspective side, Dex’s fun and straightforward nature brings Hammer out of his shell. The things Dex says truly had me laughing out loud. Even with Dex making some big mistakes, I couldn’t stay mad at him. Plus, Hammer and Dex have sizzling chemistry. The journey they take together is quite endearing as they always have each other’s back despite what occurs. I also liked the appearances of Jag and the connection between Frank and Dex.

D!ckhead is about embracing who you are and creating your own family. This book is a sexy MM action romance with a dash of BDSM and an extra helping of hotness.

This gets a 4 purely for Dex, I've loved him since book 1 🥰

I really didn't like Hammer at all until 95% and even then I still didn't like him that much. I love how Shane has become like an older brother to Dex though.

The other thing I didn't really like was how long this book was, it just felt like more ways to make Dex feel like shit which I wasn't a fan of. It's clear he's got ADHD from the get go but no one seems to recognise it and he's made to feel bad about something he can't change! #teamdex 😂

I stayed up until 3 AM to finish this book and I regret NOTHING!

Dex and Hammer were the best! I absolutely need a friend like Dex! He made me so happy with saying and doing whatever he wanted and my heart broke that he thought he was a burden. I love how Hammer took all that Dex was and didn’t try to change him. Same with Dex. He knew what Hammer was and loved him anyway. Their connection was *chefs kiss*.

The murder and gore and violence just added the cherry on top of the cake for this book. It didn’t take itself too seriously while at the same time, you felt the gravity of what they had to do. Hammer did his best to protect Dex, but Dex is a badass too, and could take care of himself. Yeah, he’s a tad reckless, but my point still stands.

And the 🌶️was top notch! I know a lot people don’t like a certain thing that happens in this book, but I loved it. It was written well and spoke to the trust these two had with each other.

I wish this book had more of the interactions with just Dex and Hammer. I loved their conversations and how they learned so much about each other without it being awkward. Everything flowed for them and I want more! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Read this book!

So when I first started this book, I hadn’t previously read any others, the authors are new to me. So when I started, it was a bit hard for me to get into but I carried on a few chapters and then I couldn’t stop!! I mean this is a pretty good size book at 454 pages on kindle and I read it in a day had a half, so not much sleep was had 😂

We have Hammer who is high up in the biker gang he’s in, The enforcer, he discovered something about one of his gang members but before he could do anything about it, he’s the one being accused of something he didn’t do and chucked in a holding crate till they decide what to do with him.

Dex is a young, lively, impulsive, man wh@re who will literally sleep with anyone! But when he’s put in charge of watching over the Big beef cake of his dreams, he thinks he’s won the lottery! Well that’s Until he realises he was ment to watch the hostage and now he is one!! Always getting himself into trouble over c*ck!!!

This book has so many things going on, I’ll list them below as many might find this book is not for them! But ultimately it’s a biker book full of violence and gore, with tigers and orgys, with a sharing MMM scene and it was so much fun to read! I loved it!!

Underneath these men’s tough exterior you have one working out how he feels about being Bi and one that just wants to be loved and understood. Dex was an amazing character and I totally knew his diagnoses as I have it too!

This will be going in my top reads and I’m going to try and read the rest in this series!!

This book is a long read  and by the end I had nearly forgotten the beginning because it takes you on one big adventure. This book will be no good to you if you are squeamish and not a lover of blood because a lot of blood is spilt and as the story unravels  you become quite immune to barbaric violence and bloody deaths; it almost feels normal just another day in the life of these two MC's. Dex is a wound spring who bounces around never sure which direction he will go. He brings fun and chaos to the story. Hammer is a strong and clever character who is intense and focused. Dex definitely brings Hammer's sexy side out. The sex is intense and rough, and hot to read; no skimping on details.  This story is centered around a motorcycle club, but due to an incident the majority of the story is focused on the two main characters. This book was well written, held my interest and the characters were great. It's a 5 star read, but only if you can normalise the violence whilst reading it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Charged with guarding Hammer while an investigation is pending, Dex lets his long-term crush get the better of him and accidentally becomes Hammer’s hostage. Fleeing to the only safe place Hammer can think of… he takes Dex to his old BDSM club.

There’s so much I loved about this book. For starters it’s a dark, motorcycle club, MM romance with a sexual awakening, lots of spice, & violence. It’s fast paced and has scenes so hot I was literally fanning myself with both hands ::cough::orgy::cough:: 🥵

I really enjoyed Hammer’s internal dialogue about sexuality, masculinity, and gender roles - and it’s not a one off thought, he continues to re-examine things throughout the book and changes his mind on where he stands. Him being a very masculine character in a group of very masculine men makes the whole thing that much more satisfying when he adopts the attitude that it’s nobody’s business but theirs what they do in bed nor does it detract from his intimidating persona to have a himbo boyfriend.

K.A. Merikan called them “murder boyfriends” and that’s exactly how I’d describe them. If that sounds like something you’d enjoy then you only have to wait until Friday to get your hands on this book 😉

Thanks to K.A. Merikan and Gay Romance Reviews for the ARC - all opinions are my own.

I have mixed opinions on this one, hence the three star rating. I definitely recommend looking at the TWs for this book so you know what you're getting into. This is a captor/captive romance where the captor, Hammer, is the executioner for a gang and the captive, Dex, is too stupid to realize how much danger he is in. It made for a fun dynamic and I've always loved characters who are canonically dumbasses and Dex was no exception. He is the definition of a lovable idiot. If I had rated this on entertainment value alone, I would have given it another star, but there are some things in here that I thought were handled distastefully and prevented me from rating it higher. I'm going to get into spoilers to explain myself, so heads up on that.

To sum up: Dex carried this book on his back and, even though I only liked one of the characters, the two of them together had good chemistry. I had fun reading everything that was not mentioned above and I enjoy this author duo's writing style, but their approach to certain topics leaves much to be desired. 😅

Also, side note, I never look at covers to get an idea of what a character looks like because they never match what is in my head, but this book has been the sole exception to that. Shoutout to whoever designed this cover because the model they picked for Dex was perfect and I referenced it several times when reading.

I loved Dex in the first two books and he did not disappoint! It was really cool to learn more about him, and that there’s a whole lot more to him than being a notorious f*ck boy.
When Dec first sees Hammer, the MC Executioner, he’s instantly attracted, but he knows there’s likely not a chance. When a confrontation with the MC goes wrong and Hammer ends up in a cell in the junkyard with Dex as his guard, things go downhill fast. These two go on an insane adventure of revenge, and in that time they really get to know each other. Though Hammer has never been with a man, he must admit he’s thought about it.
Dex is different from anyone Hammer has ever met, and he’s surprised at how much they have in common. But Dex can be reckless, and Hammer is worried that he’ll get hurt next time he flies off the handle.
Dex was the standout for me; he’s actually got a lot more going on than he seems to. He’s quite clever, charismatic, and admirably positive even in dire situations. He also hasn’t had the easiest life, and though he acts cavalier he’s got a lot of insecurities.
There is a lot of steam in this book and some gory scenes if that’s not your thing!

Oh yesss... I loved Dex & Hammer's story; violent, funny, bloody and sweet!! 🪓🤣🩸🥰 And the sex scenes were seriously hawt!!! 🔥😜
To be honest: I hadn't expected to like this book so much? Dex wasn't one of my favorite characters in the previous books, but that totally changed!!
I especially loved the way Hammer gave into his feelings for Dex... how curious he was and wanted to try anything (after analyzing things for himself first 😏 lol!).
How, together, Hammer & Dex could totally be themselves. A perfect match, if there ever is one.
And although Dex was constantly horny, the sex scenes certainly did not prevail! There was so much more going on than just that.
Usually I'm not a fan of a lot of inner monologue, but in this book it really worked for me.
In the beginning I had a hard time visualizing Hammer... until Kat posted a sketch on FB and that really helped! 👍🏻
If you liked the previous books in the series, you're gonna love this one too! 😊

I'd say: D!ckhead is a typical Merikan book: very recognizable... still always 'different' and 'new'. I love that about the Merikans; they totally have their own style and they rock it! 😍

I'm really looking forward to Frank's story!!

A Joyfully Jay review.

5 stars

D!ckhead is the third book in K.A. Merikan’s Wrong Side of the Tracks series. Friends, let me tell you how wildly enjoyable this story was. Of course, I think part of the fun stems from how familiar this world has become. But more than that, the authors push a lot of envelopes with Dex and Hammer in a way that I just couldn’t get enough of. I was enamored of how exceptionally well paired Dex and Hammer are and loved that there was this flagrant, frustrating slow burn before they started figuring things out. Personality-wise, Dex and Hammer could not be better matches. They both enjoy things society generally considers taboo… gore, violence, and death for example. Maybe it’s an odd thing for people to bond over, but holy smokes did Dex and Hammer ever bond over this! As a reader, I loved the tacit tension such—let’s say interests—conveyed.

M/m, bi-awakening, grumpy/sunshine, abduction, size difference, brat, first love, revenge, enemies to lovers, betrayal, coming out, forced proximity, partners in crime, biker gang, first gay relationship, antihero, dual POV, opposites attract, dark humor
Spice: medium to high🔥🥵
Angst: medium
Plot: Dex is tasked with keeping an eye on Hammer and he is beyond excited because he actually has the biggest crush on Hammer. As things (unfortunately) usually do for Dex, they go all wrong. In order for Hammer to save himself he's going to have to take Dex hostage. This actually works out just fine for Dex.

My opinion: I picked this up despite not liking the whole biker thing. I read the first book in this series and while it wasn't my favorite, I still got into it. While the characters from the previous books make an appearance, I think it could be read as a standalone. You may encounter some spoilers if you read them out of order but I think you'd still encounter them if you read the synopsis of the books. Anyways, the sex scenes in here really lit me up and was definitely an A++ for me. However, there was so much back and forth about Hammer being gay or bisexual or how he feels undesirable. I get it, it's a big thing to have your whole identity uprooted and how you begin to question everything you know and previous interactions, but it because tedious to hear about it during each chapter from Hammers POV. I think that's why it took me longer than normal to get through this book because my eyes kept glazing over on those particular scenes and I would have to read it again. This book also included a lot of plot. Characters going here and doing that. I'm like phew I need to lay down, I'm exhausted. 😂

I could not stop reading this book. Dex was hilarious and well I guess just kind of dumb! He has set his sights on the violent motorcycle man Hammer. Thanks to his own blend of stupid he ends up accidentally kidnapped by none other than the object of his desire. Enjoyed really getting into Dex's head though. He is funny and obnoxious but there is an insecurity in there that I loved. Hammer is intense and when he realizes his attraction to Dex all bets are off. These two have a hot, rough and dirty chemistry! Love me some size difference. This was a wild ride full of crazy adventures along with a side of grit, gore and violence, but I found myself smiling along the way!

A horror loving MC executioner and his off-the-wall former hostage fall in love in this blood soaked story. I'll be honest though, as much as I loved Dex and Hammer and their action packed story, it was a bit overlong and a few of the side plots felt very unnecessary (like were not needed at all and didn't add anything to the story whatsoever lol). Other than that it was funny, bloody, and an all around good time.

This is a book unlike any other (I can think of): both MCs are both objectively flawed. Really flawed. But it's a lot of fun to see them falling for each other (and doing all sorts of violent shit), and Dex is so so so stupid it's glorious and them both together is just fun.

I loved it, not sure who I would recommend it to, but if you want to read about the really stupid promiscuous guy and the MC club executioner, this is fun!

D!ckhead is deliciously dark and dirty. Hammer and Dex are hilarious together and are so perfect for each other. Dex is impulsive and cheerful, while Hammer is brooding and serious, but they both have a shared love of violence that connects them and chemistry that’s off the charts. It’s rare to read a story where each of the main characters understand each other like Hammer and Dex. It’s a really long book, but the action moves and kept me reading to find out what’s next. In trademark Merikan fashion, it manages to be disgusting, gory, filthy, and sweet in equal parts. It’s a wild ride of a story and an excellent addition to the Wrong Side of the Tracks series.
