Where does one start with about what I do? I’m a writer, but I’m sure you guessed that by now if you’re reading this, hey? What you might not know is I’m a little quirky, live in my pj’s most of the time and have cake Saturdays with my sisters every week. I dedicate a little of my time to taking care of my grandbabies and on the dedicated writing days I like to write an eclectic mix of romance, suspense and paranormal fantasy. In the main I’ve written gay romance but I’m branching out under another the pen name in the future, so watch this space. I’ve a passion for books like you would not believe and it led me down this path and now I’ve over 29 books released and heading towards releasing a whole lot more. The way my head is I never know where I’ll be headed next. I hope you’ll find a little joy in my words and follow me to see where the journey takes me and you. If you’re interested at some point in 2021 I’ll be writing under the name JP Paton which will be F/M crime and Fantasy two of my favourite things. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled

Full of suspense and tension, healing and acceptance
Griffin so easily accepting that he's suddenly gay is probably my favourite part of the book. Don't get me wrong, the fact that it's a lot of steamy stares before anything else happens is executed perfectly - I usually find it annoying and just want the storyline to get to the plot, but this time I'm all for it.
The switch between geeky and awkward Charlie and hot and smouldering model is a great character idea and beautifully written. I find him a total sweetheart and kind of wish this didn't have to end, because it's not enough! (Don't mind me, I've just been rewatchin Gossip Girl and it stuck).
The final chapter tying this story and what's obviously going to be a main character in the next one is just what I needed and I hope that means Brett and Guy get together (fingers crossed here!).
I do have to do an honorary mention; Nanna is my absolute favourite character. Crazy old lady and a talking cat? Even if the rest of the books sucked, I would read it just for the mentions of her!
I love J.P's writing and how she is managing to link so many characters from all of her different series together. This one includes a link to Luke and Scott from Always More and a few mentions of others in her The App/Flamingo Bar series'. Griffin is a hard man to get a read on for anything other than being a hard nosed business man. However, when it comes to Charlie, the man damn near loses his mind and wants to do anything he can to see the younger man happy. Having never been attracted to a man before, his confusion is clear as he struggles to make sense of everything initially and then how to move forward with anything. Charlie is obviously a hard worker as he's working towards his business degree at uni alongside modelling work to save money for his future business and cover uni costs. He is very wary of the attention he gets from Griffin and feels off balance due to the huge differences in their status/wealth etc. Neither can deny their attraction and the feelings that quickly build and it's an enjoyable, slow burn romance that you cheer on because you want the MC's to reach their HEA, especially Griffin with how hard his childhood was. Charlie's family are wonderfully supportive and his Nan is especially fantastic bringing lots of love and hilarious moments throughout the story. The only person that Griffin has is May, his personal assistant who is also like his only family as her actions and thoughts about his behaviour regarding Charlie show how much she cares about him. Personally, I would have loved for the story to be a bit longer, allowing the reader to be a part of the harder conversations that Griffin would have to have had with Charlie about his history. It builds trust and a deeper connection between the characters but you can tell that these are established within the story. This is a wonderful story from JP Sayle that introduces readers to another great couple with a complex history for at least one MC and some interesting additions to the series, at least one couple that I look forward to having their own HEA in the future. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Let me try reading finishing this book again some other time. I made it all the way to chapter 20 and I was stunned to find that nothing had happened. It felt like I was still in chapter one or two instead I was most of the way through the book. The romantic plot is so disjointed and the character development is so weird and sporatic I haven't a clue what's going on here. I might resume the book just to see how it ends, but I'm genuinely uninterested currently. This book really could have gone somewhere interesting instead it's like the characters are as confused as I am.
3 and 1/2 stars rounded up to four. I really enjoyed this book and there was an easy flow to the narrative that I liked. However, it just took forever for these two characters to get together. I was actually becoming quite frustrated with them. I liked Nanna and the cat so much that I decided to round up my score.
This is my first book by this author so I don’t know if this super slow build to a relationship is her style. I’ll have to try another book to find out.
4 Stars, Enjoyed this one immensely. I liked the contrast between Griffin's past and the torment he endured through and Charlie's experiences, his struggles, and how he has a bright and supportive family to balance it out. Their chemistry shone through the pages and it was electric. So hot! I was glued to the pages reading each description by the author. First time I read a book by J.P. Sayle and I'm a fan now. Will look up her other books to read. Started to read the next installment in this series which is about Charlie's best friend, Guy. Expecting it to be good too.
Cute, fast, fun. A simple book that follows a familiar formula and tropes while still possessing a unique personality and some flairs that set it apart. Still it was rough around the edges enough to only warrant three stars, but I like the attempt and the general vibe even if not every creative choice panned out. For a billionaire romance with a kinky couple and generally horny attitude it was weird there were no real sex scenes and it seemed like some important relationship stuff happened off-page between scenes.
With expanded scenes and former editing this could easily reach four stars. I hope a more polished version is released some day. It did make me laugh out loud multiple times so it's charming and funny, just has a touch of higher potential it could still reach.
Charlie and Griff are alike even if they don't think so. Charlie had to take jobs to afford to go to uni and still is doing so. Griff had a tough beginning from being basically forced into servitude to his father and uncle as bare knuckle boxer at a very young age. Thanks to a benefactor who pulled from that life, he is now a very rich man. Griff and Charlie cross paths at Charlie's school and neither one of them can get each other out of their heads.
What i am wasting my life on... Why did i finish it? I wanted to drop several times, but, well, yeah, billionaire! these were the most unbelievable and unrealistic and stupid and irritating characters and events ever.
Griffin’s rags to riches story is good by itself but when he finds the love he didn’t know he needed, he really grows. Hard-working, middle class, Charles, who is a nerdy looking university student by day and runway model by night finally meets his prince. Great dialogue. Just the right amount of steam. I highly recommend this book.
What a great book! A really good start to a series! I loved both characters as well as their side characters. I love to guess who the next couple will be!
Griff and Charlie were lovely and I adored Nanna’s antics!
I love Ms Sayle's Manx Cat Guardians, but the ones that have come after have been a bit hit and miss, but this one?? It was a delight to read!
Yeah it's a billionaire love story with an impoverished student, but who cares? I loved Griffin, I really did. He doesn't throw his money about like some, but when he NEEDS to, he does.
Charlie is cute, a student and part time model. He looks after his Nanna when he comes home from uni. I loved Nanna! She is funny, puts both Griffin and Charlie in their places at points. She made me laugh out loud so many times.
I felt for Griff, at points along the way, I really did. His history is dark, and could well have been deadly save for an angel called Alexander, who pulls him out of the pits of hell. Griff knows he was lucky, and he thanks Alexander every day for saving him. But the past comes back to haunt him at points in the book, when he least expects it, and it breaks your heart, it really does, reading to what happened to him at the hands of his family, no less.
Both Charlie and Griff have a say, in the first person. Each change is clearly headed, and comes as the chapter changes. There is an age gap between Griffin and Charlie, but it's not a daddy kink book. There is some talk of Griff experimenting with his more dominant side, but its all off screen. It is dark, as I said, but as dark as it is, its sweet and sexy. Griff is, for all his wealth, a little out of his depth with Charlie and it's amusing in places. At one point, I wasn't sure Griff and Charlie would even GET to the Main Event, you know??
It's what I think I enjoyed the most, you know? The fact that we are kept waiting for that Main Event. It's not about the sex between these two, it's about the journey to get to that point, and I really, really enjoyed it.
Thank you, Ms Sayle, for my copy, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Another amazing read from JP. I need more of Griffin and Charlie, so wasn’t ready for it to end. Could see I was edging closer to 100% and kept hoping another 100% would magically appear. I really felt for both Griffin and Charlie - they’ve had plenty of pain and rejection in their lives. Poor Charlie has experienced a lot of rejection which has left him with a ton of insecurities. And dear lord Griffin’s past brought tears to my tears to my eyes. His dad and uncle were pure evil. I really liked the dynamic between the two of them especially with Griffin who may be the older one but a lot less experienced of the two. And Charlie has such a big heart, one strong enough to help Griffin break down his walls. I was willing them along all the way through. I'm a simple girl and so it's the little things that hit me in the feels in a romance book. There's a scene where Griffin brushes hair from Charlie’s forehead - oh my god I damn near melted.
Can't leave a review without mentioning Nana. What a character. She's total hoot!!
JP Sayle's has done it again, as I started reading Griff and Charlie's story it drew me in, keeping me totally entertained and loving every moment of it. Growing up was tough for Griffen, his father and Uncle were bare knuckle fighters who enjoyed drinking more than fighting and figured Griff could make them some cash by taking their place. Luckly for him Alexander broke up the fight one night, took him off the streets, paid off his father and taught him everything he knew about running a business. He sees Charlie for the first time at the college where he was a guest lecturer and then again at a fashion show for his new business venture, there is just something about him that draws him in but wait...I like women right.....but. But there's just something there, I have never felt like this before so maybe it's time to spend a little less time working, more time living and build maybe a future for us together.
I absolutely LOVED this book! If I could've given it more stars I would’ve done. For starters it had two things I love, age gap and straight to gay. It also had two other wonderful things, Griffin and Charlie, oh my, they were adorable. And then there’s Nanna, and her talking cat - hilarious! The piece near the end with the false teeth had me laughing so hard I thought I’d wet myself. This is definitely a story I will read again, it’s staying on my Kindle. My first with this author although I’ve seen her name floating around on Goodreads, I’m so happy with her style I know I’ll be looking at her other works, this was amazing.
This was my first try at JP Sayle and it will most likely be my last. I'm not a fan of the writing style. And just a few pages I was already noticing oddly used commas, which drives me nuts.
And this line really just irked me:
Fortunately, I was in the one percent of the population who were able to naturally build muscle without the need for the steroids my father liked to use.
Um. Building muscle naturally isn't that difficult. It's definitely not something that only 1% of the population can do. I hope that's just the MC's belief, and not the author's as well. Because it's frankly, that's completely unfactual.
Wow. Such a yummy story. I've read several books with straight discovering his gay side that he didn't know was there. Just loved Charlie and his alter ego. Being a struggling college student to be a run way model. Griffin was a fun character to get to know. Coming from such a hard and cold place. Being loved by a man who saw his worth which he kept trying to prove over and over again. I really enjoyed this story and can t wait to read the next one.
This story has it all - brilliant MCs, a plot to die for and wiritng craft that mkes it a pure pleasure to read. The characters steal the show though. I loved how much care went into their development and background, and how the author took the time in the story to let us get to know them fully. Brilliant writing!
A sweet, loving romance. Loved Charlie and Griffen. The characters had depth and the story of how they come together was great. I loved how the relationship was not too fast and forced in the making, it felt more natural. Janna added a slice of humor with her quirkiness. This was a great read and I look forward to reading more from the author.
OMG I am in love with Griffin and Charlie's story! I am just pull right into their story and I love every minute of it. Charlie is perfect for Griffin. This has a perfect mix of humor and emotions that I love to read. JP Sayle is definitely an author that I just love to read.
I’m conflicted about how to rate this book. On one hand, the character development of one of the male leads was fantastic — I was genuinely intrigued by his history and how it shaped him. But as the story progressed, the character development started to feel uneven. I kept wondering, what really makes Charlie, that's the other character tick? Everything was happening so fast, and there was so much happening but yet not a lot happening at the same time.
Griffin's history was interesting, and I appreciated the layers they added to the narrative. EBut realistically, I think this book will blur into the background with other similar stories by the end of the year. That said, who knows? Maybe a few months from now, curiosity will strike, and I’ll want to find out what happens next.
This story is a slow build up. But its a bit to slow for me. Its like cat and mouse game between the two. then bam! Sexy time about 65%. It just seemed to late for said chemistry about then. Dnf
Honestly the story was so cute. I definitely like the little details that added to the characters backgrounds because it showed their development and made them more realistic.
