The Elysium Proposal

Rate this book
Kyle Talos, adventurer, privateer, and captain of The Stargazer, wanted to have the perfect romantic evening with the love of her life. Good food, better wine, and then maybe, just maybe, a marriage proposal.

Except nothing ever goes as planned.

Instead, she received a nighttime chase across rooftops, her ship commandeered, and threats that forced her into sailing herself, her not-yet-fiancé, and the invading enemy towards certain doom. All of this in pursuit of the myth of a spring that could grant eternal life. This otherworldly prize was rumored to be located on the Elysium Cove, a small island far out to sea.

An island surrounded by storms so powerful that no vessel has sailed in and returned to tell the tale. More than one fool has tried. None of them survived.

Kyle must now keep herself and those she loves safe, but will she be able to change course before the relentless search for eternal life leads them all to their deaths?

A.E. Bross has also published under Adrienne Bross.

Born an April baby in New York, New York, Adrienne "A.E." Bross enjoyed everything from soccer to flute lessons to horror stories while she was growing up, but her real passion was writing. Soon, fantasy began to overtake horror in her repertoire, and with thoughts of dragons and magicians, she went to college and gained her BA in English Literature.

Regardless of how whimsical and amazing fictional fantasies are, they do not always pay the bills! However, an MS in Library and Information Sciences, and a steady job as Librarian, Keeper of the Secrets and Knowledge of the ages , would.

Now she wears many titles: spouse, friend, parent, writer, enby, reader, moviegoer, mother sibling, poet, offspring, gamer, pan-fabulous, video gamer, artist, photographer, blogger, enemy, friend, librarian, and probably a million others that (for the sake of brevity) shall not be named.

It's been a busy few years.

I love this exciting adventure of a novella! Kyle, the bold and brave captain of her ship, wants nothing more than to propose to her non-binary love Teague. Complications and family drama ensue, and Kyle finds herself fighting for her life and the ones she loves most.

Highly recommend this story to readers looking for a fast-paced story on the high seas with romance and plenty of heart.

Enjoyable novella with lovely romance and LGBTQIA+ rep. Rather a quick-paced adventure. I felt that the central quest could have been expanded on some as it tended to feel rushed, but there are definitely thrills and tension aplenty, and the relationship between the two main characters is compelling and heartwarming. A fun short read for fans of high-seas, piratical stories with a romantic flourish.

What a wonderfully fun and queer pirate adventure tale! We meet Captain Kyle Talos as she's preparing for an evening of romance with her partner. Talos is planning to propose marriage, but unfortunately life has other plans. Forced to sail on dangerous seas and toward unknown peril, Bross's delivers enough angst and sass to make this a real page-turner. The perfect read for a stormy summer night!

Adventure! Romance! A high-seas heist! THE ELYSIUM PROPOSAL is a quick-paced and highly enjoyable tale about a feisty captain having pretty much everything go wrong when she tries to propose to her partner. Tensions are high in this novella, but it still leaves room for heartfelt, soft moments between Kyle and Teague, which I very much enjoyed. I definitely recommend this book if you’re in the mood for a quick, adventurous read.
