Destructive Devastation #1

Twisted in Obsession

I had a plan. It was simple. Find my sister, bring her home, and then disappear where no one could find us—especially him.

But you know what they say about plans?

They have a tendency to go awry, like a train off the tracks barrelling in the wrong direction… toward the wrong people.

That's what happened.

Them.

Jericho. Sheppard. Arrow. The mafia heir and his two best friends.

They came into my life with obsession bleeding through their veins, and the only person they saw—was me.

Theirs.

It all started when I decided to take my life back into my own hands and away from the monster, forcing me to do bad things in the dark.

One night. One decision. Brought chaos and obsession together.

Now, I'm bound to them by contract. They think they can keep me locked in their mansion, intent on breaking me until I give them what they want.

My secrets.

But they can't break something that's already damaged beyond repair.

Or can they?

I was so excited to get my hands on this book and the characters did not disappoint. They had me intrigued even before I got my hands on the book and they stayed interesting through the whole thing. And now I'm even more desperate to get the next book and see how their story will end.

What I am a little disappointed about though is how hard I found it at times to stay in the story. There were these constant past scenes mixed in between the present scenes and for me it was just a little too much. In the beginning it felt constant and I just wish scenes weren't so bogged down with the past.

But overall the story was so captivating and the characters have all my attention. I can't wait to get more of them.

The writing is extremely juvenile and cringey. The plot - no idea what it is because I couldn’t concentrate due to horrible writing style.

The MMCs ‘power’ is farcical! They’re not even 21 yet and say they rule their kingdom. At 18 they were ASSIGNED to take out their BIGGEST rival. MMCs unalived 55 people (again at 18) and destroyed the rival gang. —-> WHAT A JOKE!

She's ours. And no one can take her away from us. Not even herself. She can run and hide if she wants to, but we'll always find her.

One of Aly’s best. This was an awesome read with a great plot-to-smut ratio. It’s a story full of intrigue and suspense interspersed with spicy and abundant smutty scenes. It’s thicc (close to 700 pages), but it still feels like the pages fly by until you’re thrust into that killer cliffhanger.

If you love unhinged, red-flag-waving MMCs, these are the men for you. Come fall in love with the Devils, the mafia heirs who rule the city of Briar Cove. They are the “good” brand of stalkers – vengeful hunters who watch from the shadows, waiting for their chance to claim Journey as theirs. Sure, some of their methods might be a little overboard, but what’s a little coercion and kidnapping if it ties your woman to your side for eternity?

This is a fast-burn and spicy why-choose romance (no MM) with darker kinks, including blood/knife play, primal chase scenes, o denial/forced o, and breeding.

Cliffhanger ending alert! That was a doozy. I cannot wait for book two.

Highly recommended! If you loved Aly’s Apocalypse Society series and Second Sets Duet, you will also love this one.

Genre: Dark NA Romance
Tropes/Features: Dark Elements/themes, forced proximity, arranged marriage, mafia, unhinged MMCs, stalking/obsession, kidnapping, drugging, BC tampering, breeding, virgin FMC and MMCs, touch her and die, O denial, blood/knife play
POV: Multiple 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: Why Choose – MFMM, fast burn, spicy
Book Type/Ending: Book one Destructive Devastation series, Cliffhanger

Absolutely horrendous writing. The amount of repetitive, angsty navel-gazing bogs down the narrative and makes me hate the characters despite my high tolerance for teenage narrators. It could be 1/4 of the word count and lose nothing.

I have become completely obsessed with Aly Beck's writing over the last couple of years. I fell in love with The Apocalypse Society, then the same thing happened when I read Second Sets, so when I learned Aly was planning a series for yet another West sibling, I was hooked before I ever even picked up the book.

Journey West lived a childhood similar enough to her half-sister River. They both grew up under privileged, with single mothers, after being abandoned by their wealthy fathers. That is about where the similarities end. While River's mother did her best for River, despite her health preventing her from providing for her daughter, Journey's mother used her children to fund her addictions, in the most horrifying ways imaginable. Journey is forced to work off a debt to a man for something she did to protect herself and her little sister, all because of choices her mother made on their behalf.

The men are obsessive and protective in the best ways imaginable. If you love possessive men, then this book is a must read for you. If there's one thing I have come to expect from mafia romances, it's that the men will be the best type of psychotic, and man, did Aly deliver.

The plot is addictive from the first page, and I could not stop reading from the moment I started. The title says it all, this book is all kinds of twisted, and kept me on the edge of my seat at every turn. I even got to see a few familiar faces, which was super exciting. I can't wait to see what Aly has in store for us in the next installment for Journey and her guys, as well as hopeful for some more West family moments in the books to come!

That plot twist ending was crazy! But also the last two chapters sort of cleared it for me. But now I have to read the next one 'cause I have to know if they got out or not...

To summerize this whole book, it is basically the heir to the Italian mafia, who wants to over through his psychotic papa, but the girl he has been obsessed with since he was 8 is a part of his dads horrid plan to just get more money. And this poor girl and the stories main lead gets pulled into this crazy plan, but her only wish is to be free and live her life with her sister. But things are never supposed to go as we plan them right?

This story has gore, passion, lust, rage, guilt, and desperation and it's so addicting! I'll even excuse the weird time skips and flashbacks. Like in some parts I have no clue if I'm reading about the past or the present... Oh and another thing that makes it more tolerable is the dynamic of the main quadro!

This book was so unnecessarily long like I wish sections would have been cut then we could have a less cluttered story. Like there were too many elements that got in the way. I feel like I cant rate this without reading book 2 but I also dont wanna slog through another 600 pages…

Ok imma be honest and say this book took me wayyy too long to read. At the beginning I kept finding it a bit repetitive so it just made it hard for me to actually keep on reading it. Once I got over that though did I enjoy it omg the ride this book took me on was insane.

I don't even know where to start. There was so much happening and so many secrets coming out it was crazy. Journey is a FIGHTER. She willingly staying in Hell just to protect her sister. I need her and her sister to get a break pls😭. It felt like everything just kept getting worse and worse for her.

The guys have their issues but omg do I love them. Like Journey they all went through something that kind of shaped them to be how they are now. I think my favorite thing about them was how obsessed they are with Journey. Theres no denying how in love they are and they would do anything for her. They all have completely different personality but they all match Journey perfectly. She couldn't have found men more perfect for her.

There was a lot of spice and blood in this book like A LOT. The story itself was definitely entertaining. Some stuff took me by surprise like that ending. I need my love Shepp to be ok pls.

I love all these West siblings! I honestly think that Journey may have it the worst out of all of them. Even with her rough history, she does what she needs to keep herself safe, as well as her sister.

Jericho, Arrow and Shepp have an obsession with Journey. Usually I have one that stands out to me as a favorite, but I cannot pick between any of them.

I loved the plot, the spice, the characters, and the twists threw me through a loop. I'll be waiting in pins and needles for the next since that cliffhanger was mind blowing 😳

Twisted in Obsession is the first book in the Destructive Devastation series by Aly Beck. This book is thick! There's flashbacks from each of the MCs backgrounds which provides some insight into their lives and why they do certain things. I really liked the flashbacks and those details; it helped me feel more connected to the characters.

I really liked Journey. She has been through so much and I don't think we even fully understand everything she has been through yet. She is a bit feisty with the Devils which I loved. The Devils - they are not your typical mafia guys but they aren't good guys either. I love the craziness that is Arrow, the possessiveness from Jericho, and just everything about Shepp. I can't wait to see what happens with them next.

Book 1 is action-packed, steamy, and will leave you hanging with a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what happens in book 2!

Talk about Twisted Obsession. It was on a whole different level.

Jericho, Arrow, and Shepp have been part of Journey's life from a very early age. They have always had her back, taking care of her from afar. From that moment forward, they claimed her as there's, their obsession.

Journey has lived a tough life, first and foremost her top priority is her sister Sunny. But one event changed the course of their lives forever and now Journey has no choice but to fall in line, her life controlled by her monster, the puppeteer who holds the very thing that is her life, her sister Sunny.

One night changes everything when Journey gives into her wonton desires, allowing three masked men to claim her virtue and give her a night that which she has not experienced before, one night of freedom, to feel human.

Jericho, Arrow, and Shepp insert themselves into Journey's life in every way, shape, and form. Journey is closed off, reserved, she is focused on one thing, her sister. But they break down her walls and defences. She opens up to them about the things that have happened to her and what she has done to survive, and they do the same in return.

Things begin to click into place as Jericho learns of his father Gabriel's true motives of why he chose Journey to be wed to him, and the fact that he is the monster that has been haunting her dreams.

Money seems to be the motive, and when Journey learns that she has an inheritance, and brothers - Seger and Zeppelin, do things begin to make sense, but the bombshell - she's married to Jericho.

Jericho, Arrow, and Shepp have been planning to overrule Gabriel, working behind the scenes, having gone through a stage of their initiation. They know protecting Journey and her financial future is of high importance to them.

When they attend the event for their final initiation into the Viotto family business does Gabriel show his cards, because Jericho, Arrow and Shepp played right into his hands, he always knows, and Jericho's marriage to Journey paved the way for Gabriel to get what he wants, her inheritance, which is the icing on the cake as Journey also learns that he has been in league with the mysterious Shadow, and when Journey is reunited with her sister and a passed out Shepp, does she come face to face with the man who's intention was to hurt her and her sister, does she now realise that there may be no hope of either of them getting out of this situation alive.

Jericho, Arrow, and Shepp are truly something else. They worship the ground that Journey walks on and will do anything and everything for her. They are controlling, dominant alpha males who are possessive of their woman and will inflict maximum damage should anyone dare cross them.

They're the definition of devil's and will go to every length to bind Journey to them because she is there's and they are hers.

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions that will have you gripping the edge of the cliff and wanting to free fall into oblivion, this book was that good, it hooked me right from the start right to the very end.

There story had a lot of depth, giving the readers a lot of insight into there backstory, which has allowed the readers to connect with the characters and get a greater understanding of who and what they are and why they do what they do

Those smexy scenes were downright steamy, spicy, smutty, dirty, pure unadulterated pleasure, passion, and scintillating hot that every woman wishes that they were being worshipped by Jericho, Arrow and Shepp

Highly recommend both the author and the book, now here to anticipate book two in 2025. I can't wait!

If the fmc is my least favourite character in the book, something went terribly wrong.

Did this make me want to read the second part? No.
Will I read it anyways? Also no.

Summary:
Journey, our fmc aka dumbest girl alive, killed the big bad mafia boss‘s second in command to protect her little sis Sunshine/Sunny (and herself) from being raped. This leads to her mum (drug addict with no love for her daughters) selling her daughters to the big bad mafia boss of the Viotto family (aka Jericho‘s dad). Sunshine needs a heart transplant and is shipped off to some mysterious clinic. Bbmb holds this over Journey‘s head and forces her to become his ~little snake~, aka killing and spying for him.
We have three mmcs: Jericho, Arrow and Shepp. Each one of them has their own tragic backstory which of course involves some sort of abuse by their fathers/father figures. For some weird reason they are all obsessed with Journey and can‘t wait to marry her once she finishes school. Journey doesn‘t know any of this and is rightfully confused when they start making it very very very clear that they need her in their life.
Being the dumb naive girl she is she ignores everything because she ~doesn’t want to think about it~ or ~it can‘t be~ and thus continues to be one of my least favourite fmcs of all time.
At some point we are told that Journey‘s dad fucked around a lot and she has several half siblings. He left each of his kids 20 million $ after he died. Journey will only have access to her money if she is 21 or married after 18, which is why Jericho‘s dad, who is chronically broke, wants his son to marry her.
There is a mysterious „Shadow“ who keeps interfering with the Viottos‘ family business. In the end it‘s the guy Journey thought she killed which was just plain weird. This didn‘t make any sense at all especially because daddy Viotto apparently knew that?

The writing was just bad most of the time.. the fmc didn‘t have any common sense and was stupid af. All of her chapters felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again.
The only part where I liked the writing were Arrow‘s chapters. His craziness and obsession with Journey were very believable and well portrayed.
The other two mmcs were okayish.
Overall this was just way too long and felt extremely repetitive and could have been half as long. I started skimming over so many pages because nothing relevant was being said. Not even the sex scenes were any good because everything happened in like three sentences. They spent more time talking about all the sex they want to have than actually doing anything.

Welcome to the Family

I love Aly Beck's writing and this book was great! Getting to finally read about Journey has been intriguing. I love how much the West siblings are all playing into these series, not only that, but each series is extremely different which makes it all the more interesting when they all come together.

The book starts out with the soon to be newly-initiated members of the Viotto Crime Family, Jericho, Sheppard and Arrow setting their plan in motion. Having been doing family bidding and jobs their whole life, the time has come upon them to enact their plan.

Journey West, having been a slave to "her Monster" since the age of 16, enduring psychological torture and threats to keep her sister safe, she is a spy in the family that no one knows about. She's also, unknowingly promised to Jericho Viotto himself as soon as they are officially sworn in.

With secrets galore, blood, sweat and tears, these characters are madness personified. This book is filled to the brim with pure craziness that will have you on the edge of your seat. The steam is off the charts and even though all of the guys are very possessive of Journey, they still have moments where the light still comes through, showing they aren't completely taken by the dark world they live in.

The books ending seem to come up quick, and I am really looking forward to the next one. For me, personally, I wasn't a fan of the flashbacks. I also really wasn't fully invested until about halfway through. However, I know the author needed to set up the storyline, I just wish the beginning moved faster along. Once it started going, I started clicking everything into place and really enjoyed it. Cant wait for book two. I also wonder if the West family will play more of a role than we saw in this first book.

"Time to reign in my little Chaos."

"...I've come home and belong in the arms of these psychotic masked men."

*Overall 4/5
*Heat? 5/5
*Fast Burn
*Multiple first person POV
*MFMM (No MM)
*Ends on cliffhanger

Okay so here's the thing with Beck's books, I love the stories. They end up being some of my favorite stories. However, I know going into them, especially the first one, I'm going to struggle. I don't know if it's where these books are bigger and a little on the slower side and we get hit with a lot of information in the first book, but they always drag for me. For example, Bitter Notes the first book in the Second Sets Duet, I actually DNF'ed the first time I tried reading it and it wasn't until the second try that I pushed through the beginning and then became obsessed with that duet, especially book 2! Kind of the same thing happened with The Apocalypse Society trilogy but that one was more book 2 that I had issues with than the first book. But anyway, overall, I tend to really love these stories. Even by the end of this first book I was hooked and couldn't put it down, which is why I am so happy that I waited until book 2 was out before I picked up the next one because now, I need to know where we go after that ending! I need to know how that ending even happened! It was just so good and hard to put down. It is a bit different and definitely darker than the Second Set duet, but I went into this one knowing it's mafia-related therefore it was going to be darker than a rock band duet. But don't get me wrong River goes through a bunch of crap in her story, we just don't have an unhinged mafia going around killing everyone. But I love Sheppard and Arrow so much. Shepp is our MMC here that's sees himself as damaged and went through a lot while Arrow is just completely unhinged and does some of the most messed up crap and I cannot wait to see how he and Jericho are going to handle that ending. I really hope everything works out, especially for Shepp!

🖤Twisted In Obsession🖤
By Aly Beck

4⭐️

“I always knew you’d be hard to control. Run from me, Little Chaos. I’ll chase you. Always.”

~~

Twisted In Obsession, book one in Aly Beck’s latest Destructive Devastation series, was one of my most anticipated reads this spring. When I first learned the tropes Aly was planning to deliver, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. As expected, she gave me exactly what I was hoping for- deliciously dark and depraved men, heart-racing twists around every corner, and scorching hot romance that had me squealing and blushing. So so good!

Aly’s writing has become such a comfort to me. She makes it so easy to connect with her characters, despite most being wildly over-the-top, possessive, and morally gray. Aly is a master at character development and I can’t wait to see what all she has in store for this cast going forward, especially with that cliffy. 🥴

An area I did struggle a tiny bit with was the many flashbacks throughout the start of the story. They occurred so frequently in between present moments, it became difficult for me to stay focused during those first few chapters. The overall pace was pretty quick, though, and I soon found myself flying through several hundred pages. Twisted In Obsession do be thicc, in the best possible way!

If you fancy yourself a dark romance with mafia, unhinged heroes, and “Mine.” vibes, push this to the top of your TBR!

first off- aly stop making me tear up! these backstories, my heart- i just wanna go to their childhoods, take & adopt them and give them hugs & happy childhoods. journey is so strong, her determination to keep it together until she can get her sisters location is courageous and admirable. so far im having a hard time picking a favorite guy too, all three of them are calling to me. i love how we can see so many sides to them so early on. makes me both curious and fearful for later in the book. now thats an interesting twist, the mafia men having to keep their v-cards until being initiated and well their arranged marriage, along with the mafia women. different and interesting. also olivia mention!! holy- damn the teasing and forshadowing for her book aly!!! THE TEASING MINI SPOILERS. i love it give me more spoilers for future book content. also your making it difficult to pick a fav between arrow & shepp. aaah im only half way and i cant pick one. HOLY THAT HALF WAY REVEAL. damn that means this takes place a bit later than i predicted timeline wise in this west-family-rh universe. the push and pull and heavy s-tension between journey and each of the guys is enthralling. i love it and omg THE LION ENCLOSURE SCENE. ARROW. omfg. the scene with journey meeting zepp, seger & olivia was amusing as hell. i live for those moments. and also that cliff hanger is illegal aly- ITS LIKE TANGLED TRUTHS ALL OVER AGAIN. i need the next book like now---

Aly Beck masterfully crafts a narrative brimming with unexpected twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Journey's resilience and complexity as a character shine through, while Jericho, Sheppard, and Arrow add layers of intensity and intrigue to the story.

Superb story, seggs and stalker men 😍
The story follows Journey West and please check your TWs as she’s had a bit of a tragic past and largely at the hands of her monster 😫 yet she continues on because she has to…
After a wild night she finds herself at the mercy of the mafia heir and his buddies! To her they’re just her psychopath of kidnappers bits she doesn’t realise all they’ve done, are doing and will do for this girl 🥰 I mean they do certainly have their unbelievable moments, Jericho more than most but that’s probably because of the pressures he’s under; Arrow is just a wild card who you’re never quite sure what will do and Shepp is the more level headed one, although he certainly has his own demons to contend with 😬
These men have “who did this?”, “touch her and die”, “mine!” in absolute spades and boy am I here for it 😍 I mean don’t get me wrong it goes hand in hand with the arranged marriage, bc tampering, kidnapping, and light stalking but hey who doesn’t love a bit of obsessive possessiveness! Aly Beck sure knows what I want in my BB’s anyway ❤️
After everything that gets revealed in this book and the snippets that are cleverly woven together I still never expected who I think it may be at that ending 😮 brilliant storyline and delivery!

What a fun, unhinged, dark Mafia ride! I have come to really love literally anything Aly writes, she has no misses for me. The characters, the storyline, the internal monologue from the FMC *perfection*. I genuinely snorted a few different times during Journey's internal monologues.

I originally thought this was a stand alone and was a little confused with the pacing, however, once I realized it's definitely NOT a standalone everything made a lot more sense. I love that we get more from these characters and I'm really excited for the next book! That cliffhanger had me gasping and trying to turn to the non existent next page.

I loved all of the characters, and I really enjoyed getting some cameos from characters of previous series that's always so fun. However, ARROW 🥵. What a delightfully unhinged psychopath. He might be my favorite, although it's a very close call. One of my favorite pieces to this story was the solid friendship/brotherhood of the three MMCs. I love that they learned ASL for Shep and never pressured him to speak, just learned an accomodation and went with it. I love that they also held one another accountable for some questionable behavior, that was a super fun scene!

Great fast burn and the story kept me hooked and wanting more, looking forward to the next book!

This book contains the 3 M's I've come to enjoy in my books: Murder, Mayhem, Mafia.
But it also has: Humor (like lots of it), love, spice, a golden retriever psycho, domineering "I am doing this to protect you" leader, and a beautifully artistic strong and silent type. Oh, and lions!

I don't know how to really talk about this book without it becoming a big ol' spoilery mess, but I can say I don't think I have ever highlighted so many quotes in my life. This book had me in a hold. Arrow (our golden retriever psycho, and in case you weren't sure, the owner of lions), Jericho (our leader), and Shepp (our strong and silent one) are seriously ranking high up on my list of book boyfriends at this point

I cannot wait for book 2. I want, no NEED, to see Gabriel get his comeuppance and boy do I need to get the rundown of what happened with Shadow.

Wow, this was a crazy book! So much is going on, plus it left us with that shocking cliffhanger. There were so many fantastic twist and turns, you could not guess what would happen next.

The men in the story are beyond a little psychotic, but you have to admit they are obsessed with Journey West. She is their whole world, they might just burn it down to protect her.

Each of these men are so different from one other. Jericho is the leader and boss, Arrow is the crazy killer and Shepp is the sweet caring one. I think Arrow might just be my favorite. He’s one of the craziest characters I’ve ever read, but I enjoyed every bit of his antics.

The first books I read by Ms. Beck were The Second Set duet, where I fell in love with her characters. It was no different here. No matter how crazy they act; you can’t help but enjoy all their outrageous behaviors. Especially Arrow.

I love that this is a continuation of the West siblings from The Apocalypse Society and Second Sets. It’s nice to have parts of those stories mentioned in this book to pull it all together.

One of the biggest standout with this novel is how dark and tragic this story is. I recommend reading all trigger warnings. I for one can’t wait for the next installment to see what Journey and her men will do next.

Ahhh I had such a fun time reading this book arrow is my favorite he’s absolutely insane in every way he’s dirty, he’s not and he’s blood thirsty at all costs but he’s journeys protector and he’ll take anyone’s fingers for her 😂 his lions will devour anyone who hurts her . Shepp omg baby boy shepp I hope he gets so much more attention in the next book two he may have lost his tongue and his voice but for journey? For her he’ll use his voice, for her he’ll cook anything she loves always has and for her he’ll pour his soul out in paintings 😍he speaks only for her to listen and when he can’t he’ll find the best way to communicate with his girl and he’s the biggest teddy bear of a big burly man. Nor Jericho that man is obsessed but he’s bossy and controlling he wants what he wants when he wants it how he wants it and that includes journey she’s his to have, to hold and to boss around. Now that being said they all need to take down her monster and save them all! Gabriel Viotto is the worst of the worst and he’s got terrible plans for journey and her sister sunshine and that’s selling them to an even worse devil. They have played the long game but the long game has played them and I can’t wait to see what comes next! The cliffhanger has me frothing at the mouth. Also can we talk about the birth control!? Arrow has such a breeding kink it’s kinda hot. The masked play whew 🥵

This book was phenomenal! From beginning to end I was absolutely hooked. The story is unique and not like every other mafia book out there which I loved. So many twists and turns and the spice was top notch!

The guys have been protecting their girl in secret for years, until it was finally time to make her theirs. Only for their plans to be spoiled by their monster and Shadow the unknown enemy.

The fmc Journey is thrown into the mafia life as a pawn for the head of a mafia family, only for her life to be thrown on its head again when the guys claim her as theirs.

Jericho is powerful, but with a big heart. With a goal to be nothing like his monster of a father, he does everything in his power to protect Journey.

Shepp is the silent sweet giant. He’s a lover in a world of danger and bad people. He doesn’t fit in except with his brothers.

Aarow is the crazy one, who loves fiercely and protects anyone who needs it.

The cliffy in this book was huge, and I’m absolutely desperate for the next book!!
