Reed Lawson was a man I had no business crossing paths with. He was Boston’s most eligible billionaire. Rich and sexy, with a tortured soul every woman wanted to save. The empire he’d created, he had built from the ground up.
I was simply a girl who worked in a library. When I was younger, a few risky choices cost me everything. But now I was content in my safe, secure routine.
We were two different people. Living two different lives. His past was pushing him forward. Mine was holding me back.
Yet, we somehow managed to meet at the perfect moment in time.
Addison Jane is a born and bred kiwi girl with a passion for romance and writing. When she gets the chance she enjoys the little things in life such as reading, dancing, music, and Facebook, but her world really revolves around the little girl who calls her Mum. It's an awkward balance between alpha males and Disney princesses but it works. Growing up on a small farm next to the beach will always make her a country girl at heart. But since moving away to a small town close to the city she's discovered a dangerous love for shopping. Writing stories has been something that’s come naturally since she was young, and with the massive support of her friends and family, she finally decided to step out of her comfort zone and share them with the world. She enjoys bringing her books to life with strong female leads, sexy passionate men and a rollercoaster of twists and turns that lead to the happily ever after that her readers desire.
Addison Jane, thank you so much for this wonderful break from my reading slump!!!! ♥️ It was exactly what I needed!!! Reed and Valen’s journey was amazing!! 👏
This book needs a lot of work and clarity when it comes to its story line and tropes, but I still liked the characters quite a lot, so for that it's a 3.
Sweet story about two people meeting each other at the exact right moment. Not a lot of angst to draw the book out needlessly. I would have liked a little more depth in the story as well as more character development but, overall, this was an entertaining read.
Addison Jane is back with a surprise new release that's a standalone, billionaire romance. I have never read an Addison Jane book that I didn't like and this was no different. Reed and Valen's story had an excellent mix of angst, drama, sweet, spicey, trauma, and so much more!
We intially met Reed in the Exiled Eight series book three; Innocent, so naturally I was giddy for Reed to get his very own book! He is 1000% swoon worthy! He's kind, considerate, giving, selfless, and oh so sexy. I loved his emotional and physical connection with Valen. They were couple goals! He brought back the strong, independent, fierce woman that she was before she lost herself. They truly brought out the best in each other.
Although there's no real cameo from Drake, we do get more of Bronson who was also in the book Innocent, so it seems this may be a start to a new billionaire series! Woohoo! 🎉🎉
From running out on her wedding to ending up in the hands of a billionaire. This story was great at building a relationship between these two people that are well fleshed out and layered. I loved how we got to know them and see the relationship grow naturally. There is unexpected depth in the story where we get the characters’ background, and I even caught myself tearing up a couple of times. I really enjoyed this book and these characters. This isn’t a super spicy read and I love that for this story. It has a nice sprinkling of heat that never felt forced or as filler. A great read and well written. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
Valen is about to get married. She finds out that her fiancé and her best friend are hooking up behind her back. She goes out with a bang. She lets her guest know what she thing about them. Then she runs. Reed comes in and rescues her. Not knowing she will the one saving him. Reed just wanted to help her. He has been there. Almost drowning. He takes her home. Valen don’t know what she’s doing but it feels just right being in his arms safe. What started fake comes out so real both are blinded by each other.
A very different genre from this author that I’ve read of hers. It’s great and Valen and Reed are likeable main characters told in both their POV. She’s principled and so is he with their childhoods informing their now but they let go and follow their hearts. Great story
This is just what I needed; nothing deep, just some pure predictable angst with a happy ending (along with a few billions to make it that much easier). Pure fluff.
I was hoping for a bit more spice, but really liked this story. It's about time the FMC and MMC have some communication with each other instead of staying silent and then having some huge blow up.
any1 noticing Goodreads acting weird?? so strange ...takes forever for the page to load over and over. always when i wish to review a book. i am almost done (finished) with this book ... i had written a long review but nothing that i see it here now??! billionaire & millionaire romance. billionaire & millionaire ebooks. action & adventure romance. came out Nov 18, 2023. reminds of me a few other books i have read ... the part at the wedding ... so that style or bit always get me ...'cause i would hope that it would work out for others who might be going in that similar situation ... to get out of it okay ...not sure who would happen to? the grooms or the brides? no clue. funny all the same ... in how they play out i mean there. fun read. i am curious how AJ does jump around ... meaning her series are kind of waiting ... like will there be more soon or in the future?? distant future or???!? fun book cover and well. will read more ...this one i paid for .. the Sacrifice was a freebie through know about it from Bookbub. not sure if it still free or not? check that out ...there were several i was checking out for the paying side ...i always get a "sample" before i read any more ... or pay to read any more i mean there. laters. gotta live life and read... never enough time for the fun time. reading. loafing ... all that silliness.
- -- ---------- - - that ended not how i thought it would ...check this read out ...fun read had me curious. laters. i gotta read. bye. rainy day Wednesday.
Sweet and heartwarming, with a few hot n spicy moments between these perfect yet flawed soulmates. I was truly happy to read one of these WITHOUT that nagging self deprecating “she’s too good for me” or “I’m not worthy…” bull crap. Nor do we have to suffer through an angsty and time wasting breakup just to wrench some extra feels out of the final few chapters. So thanks for that!
After listening to a few of Addison Janes audiobooks I was sad to realise this one had a completely different narrator whom I just couldn’t connect with the MMC he was portraying. I seldom feel I’d rather have had read the book myself instead of listening - because there ARE so many really good narrators ones out there, but unfortunately this wasn’t one of them.
I can not express how much I truly love Addison Jane's books! I am never disappointed when reading anything she writes. The Way We Lie is no exception. Reed and Valen don't know just how much they need each other. Valen's world is crashing down around her, and Reed is the perfect knight to sweep in and save her. Little did he know that she would save him as well. I couldn't put this down until I reached the end and now I want more! I loved seeing some familiar faces throughout. Can't wait to see what comes next!
I was recommended to read this book by my friend Dora! Thank you Dora,it was lovely. The characters so real and strong and sweet. It could have been five stars if the "Chad situation"was explained more. It wasn't enough. And what about her brother? In a mental institution? Did she leave him there? Never visited?
I love Addison Jane and this book was a perfect example of why. I wouldn’t say it was absolutely perfect but that didn’t matter. I could not put this down. Fastest I have read a book in a long time. I loved it!
The Way We Lie: A Fake Marriage Billionaire Romance
Reed and Valen are couple goals, I love how their relationships evolved from friends to the love of each others life. Great storyline that kept you hooked throughout. 5 stars.
I absolutely loved this new story from Addison!! I adored the feistiness of Valen and the loving nature of Reed. Both of them were so fantastic together! And the storyline was page turning, steamy and had great lessons for life.
I absolutely fell in love with Valen from the start and Reed wasn’t far behind. These two were just perfection together. I loved absolutely everything about them and their relationship.
This was one of the best books, I have read all of her books. She is a great writer who can write in different ways to make each book different, unlike some authors when you need one of their books you read them all. I love this about her writing style. Thanks Addison
I loved it! I want a Reed Lawson or a Bronson Rhodes I'm not picky at all! Addison Jane never ceases to amaze with her books, she continues to make me fall madly in love with her characters!
Can't rate due to working relationship but I really enjoyed this ! I did it on audio and had to pause and message Addison several times about shock moments and tears welling 🤣🫣
