Saw this when walking the shelves of the barracks library....it comprises about 18 months to 2 year's of the author's service with Gen Patton whilst 1 armored corps was training in the California desert prior to it's first campaign in N Africa. The amazing value in this book is it's compilation of Patton's thoughts , speeches , sayings , bon mots, both in a more official setting of the addressing the troops as well as privately in his tent or over meals. Patton's thoughts on leadership, living a moral life, death, caring for the troops, and getting things done has applicability everywhere...the military, civilian life, family and personal life. It's only 250 pages without any boring bits...your time will be richly rewarded. "No one given the chance of serving under him, ever wished to serve under anyone else". How many people can you say that of ? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
General Patton's principle is effective, when it comes to combat, it teaches how to become a great soldier in a physical, emotional, mental, and in spirituality. I recommend this book, to anyone who is reading my comment.
This is the personal account written by a contemporary of general Patton. The author served with him in the military for a period of time and got to experience Patton's wisdom and intensity up close. The book offers excellent insight into Patton's philosophy, worth exploring both for personal growth as for implementation in leadership roles. It is striking how much his wartime strategies apply to our lives during peace times. Maybe a good reminder that we don't ever really live in peace. It seems that war or the thread of it keeps soldiers and citizens focused on what is important. The same strategies are valuable when our war is "merely" spiritual. I highly recommend reading this book, and re-reading it. It contains priceless jewels of wisdom.
