The members of The Chew have compiled some of their favorite recipes into a cookbook, divided into sections that follow the seasons.

Although there are over 100 recipes to choose from, I really only found a handful that I would be excited to try. A crowd pleasing recipe, Crispy Lime and Cilantro Chicken Wings (p. 37), uses sriracha to provide the heat and honey for the sweetness. Pan-seared Turkey with Gremolata (p. 47) is a great way to make Thanksgiving dinner in a fraction of the time. Spicy Shrimp Cocktail (p. 128) helps readers to put together a quick homemade sauce and flavorful shrimp.

I wish there were more pictures of the finished dishes, as the preponderance of the photos are candid snapshots from the television show. I do like the green and white tip boxes scattered throughout the pages, with hints and information that can be helpful to cooking enthusiasts.

Fans of ABC's daytime TV show "The Chew" will probably find some of this cookbook interesting, as I did. However, my favorite parts were not the recipes, but rather the narrative, including snippets of dialogue and tips from the show. Unfortunately there weren't enough of those to make this book worthwhile.

I have been on set at "The Chew" several times, and I find the recipes to be pretty interesting most of the time. I'm not sure who chose which ones to include in this book, but I found the large majority to be disappointing. Out of 100 recipes, there were only a handful that interested me enough to consider giving them a try.

The show itself is fun, entertaining, and informative, and this book is all of those things, but to a much lesser degree. It's loaded with photos, snippets of wisdom from the hosts, and a little bit of backstory, so fans of "The Chew" will undoubtedly find something to like. Non-fans might want to pass this one by.

of course this is like a picture book for me but I did save a few recipes from it, love all the personal stories and tidbits about each of them.
